  1. This episode had one of my least favorite tropes - cop gives a citizen their card and tells them to call, but is then annoyed and put out when they actually call. SIR??? Don’t give the upset old woman your card and specifically point out that your cell number is on it if you don’t want her calling your cell.

Lucas is so freaking annoying! Entitled, arrogant, self-centered, immature. Amelia was being ridiculously patient with him while he made her place into a complete mess where she couldn’t find things, drank the last of the coffee, borrowed her car without asking… Yeah, she’s family, but since when does that entitle him to treat her home like a hotel? What’s he going to do next, throw a party while she’s out?

Much as I generally can’t stand Owen, I absolutely loved seeing him tell off Millen’s brother.

ETA: Shut up, Beltran. Maybe the elevator “just doesn’t like you”, seriously?

Yes! As much as I love Natalie Morales, I can’t STAND Beltran.

Just want to be careful here for those who have lost loved ones to suicide (myself included). Suicide is not always preventable. As a clinician who has worked in high levels of care I know this to be true. We have no idea where Garrison's head was at, or for how long. We have no idea if this was a feelings induced, impulsive act, or if drugs and/or alcohol were involved, or whether this was a firm plan.

This is hard. More hugs to you all.

There's something that's always stuck with me, that I heard Jonathan Decker say (therapist who is part of the Cinema Therapy and Mended Light YouTube channels). He said that there is one thing that every single person who has ever take their own life has in common - they held on for as long as they possibly could.

Maybe not as long as people on the outside looking in thought they should be able to. But absolutely as long as they were able to. 💔

Gwen announced yesterday she won't be posting on Patreon anymore. Someone in reddit said Mykelti was on Patreon, crying, and saying she would be back on Patreon in a few days. I reaĺly hope she refrains from trying to make profit of that horrible tragedy.

Gwen is the one I am really worried about. She, Gabe, and Garrison were “the triplets” growing up. That’s a huge part of her core identity that has been destabilized. Also, I know from personal experience that we neurodivergent people don’t always express our grief in a way that makes sense to people, so we sometimes don’t get the kind of support we need. 💔

  5. Catching up on the show now, and I’m watching this episode currently.

During the conversation with the first victim’s dad, he was saying…I always knew she was dead. The cops insisted all this time that she was only missing, but I knew she was dead.

Dude! Her body was in HER HOUSE! It has been there the entire two years she was “missing.” What kind of crack investigative team do they have heading up missing persons investigations in her neck of the woods? A simple wellness check call could have taken care of that.

Also, did the dad have some phobia of planes? He was SO concerned that not once in two years did he think…hey, lemme go have a little look see myself.

Lastly, if she had enough cash in her bank account for her bills to keep getting paid for two years, apparently occasional freelance travel writing pays better than you would think. Maybe she has the same agent as Carrie Bradshaw! 😁

  6. Ugh, Nichelle’s dad! For someone who clearly considers himself classy, he doesn’t have enough class to be courteous to his host as an invited guest in someone’s home. Also? Nichelle and Hondo are adults. Not your business, sir!

    Team Hondo.

  7. I bet Fields Market (a real grocery store) was excited to be namechecked in the script and have it plainly said that they buy illegal produce.

They’re like…we agreed to rent out the location for the day, not have our entire supply chain practice maligned! 🤣

  8. I’m in the middle of season 2 right now. I watched season 1 when it first came out. I have a couple of thoughts.

Nadia. How does your own medicine taste? It doesn’t feel good when someone is tells you explicitly what they want, you trust them and act accordingly, and then they dump you. Does it????

The guy opening his own restaurant and his girlfriend who had to be “convinced” to sing at the dinner table. One of the cringiest things to ever happen at a restaurant table in a show chock FULL of cringey restaurant conversations. Was the self-satisfied “oh my God I’m so amazing and yet also so humble” facial expression part of the performance of the song? Or does she really just think she’s that good?

Also, them talking about how they have “fun, good” arguments about who is more fashion forward made me pretty grateful I live on the other side of the world from them. The chances that I will ever end up in some kind of situation where I am trapped with them (ie, dentist waiting room, etc) while they have one of their “adorable” debates about which one of them is more amazing are slim. 🤣

In all seriousness, though. I’m glad they found each other. They seem happy, and everyone deserves happiness. So, good for them.

Lastly, Viral being like… “hey, this is a two part question and it might seem mean, but A) why are you so ugly, and B) why are you trying to pretend you’re not? I should have taken you on one of my patented furniture store dates so I could show you a mirror. Sidenote, girls don’t make passes at boys who wear glasses.” was…honestly just horrible. In a show full of Aparna, I never would have guessed the meanest thing ever said would come out of someone else’s mouth.

Also, the more I see Aparna, the more I realize that she’s not actually mean, just incredibly blunt and thinks a helluva lot of herself. Which often comes off as mean, but isn’t really. What Viral said was actually mean.

Which actress does Ori’s mom look like??? This is driving me crazy! Please help me, kind people of the interwebs!

I think you’re likely thinking of Mercedes Reuhl. But maybe Jane Kaszmarek?

Also, on the topic of Ori…I have never actively rooted for someone to die desperately alone and regretting their life choices, and…I guess I still don’t, but I certainly wouldn’t shed a tear if that happened to Ori. 🤣

I mean, damn. The sole woman in his friend group, who seemed lovely and down to earth, had a desperate and sad look in her eye in her final talking head as if SHE were rethinking all of her own life choices just to figure out how she’d been friends with him as long as she had and never realized what a gigantic douchenozzle he was until their friendship had been memorialized on camera. And I don’t blame her. 😁

So I am not a book reader, but I just had to jump in here because I read that ShowAngie is so nice compared to BookAngie. If that is true, I will never read the books because I absolutely despise ShowAngie. I was actively rooting for her not to make it in the finale, so I don't even want to imagine how much worse BookAngie is.

Oh. SO MUCH worse! In fact, the way they softened both Angie and Amanda in the show is one of the best changes they made. In fact, while I do like the books (the mysteries are good and I like WIll as a hero), the way that both Angie and Amanda constantly berate and mercilessly mock Will for his dyslexia is one of the things that it's REALLY tough to get past.

What was the significance of that scene plot-wise in terms of helping them solve the crime?  It looked like it caused Angie to figure something out, but I don't know what it was.

I think it just got her thinking of following the money regarding the murder. The line about the jewelry was just her trying to get him to talk about where his money was going.

That was when it hit her that the reason the magician was forming friendships and spending time with the old people was likely to steal their credit card numbers and go on spending sprees. She was trying to find out if the old man had really bought the stuff, but  - as she had suspected - he hadn't.

And this is why I think the story is underwritten or there is more to it.

When Owen finally got the nerve to go into the room, she was actually cordial.  It was only after Owen said 'Since you know my name, he must have told you about me" that she got a little tetchy and asked 'What are you doing here Owen?"  Now... if the guy is on his death bed, then that is a somewhat silly question since the normal assumption would be that an estranged oldest son is showing up to say goodbye.  Up to that point, Owen hadn't said or done anything that would suggest he was there to unload.

Her reaction to his 'he must have told you about me' makes me think that she was blaming Owen for the estrangement (wrongly, since he was 13 at the time) and feels that his presence there now is something of an affront.  Otherwise her hostility doesn't make sense in the context of the scene.  Either that or she is incredibly defensive on behalf of her husband because she knows he is dead wrong for abandoning his child and is deflecting.

One thing I did find kinda funny is that when Owen first got there and the room was full with about 6 or 7 other people, they all just turned and left in a group.  Normally people are like --"well we should be going" and they'll hug or somebody will linger and say something, there is always one person in a group who takes like 20 minutes to get out the door after saying 20 times, "well I better get going."  But not this group, it was like they got an alien signal and all just turned and left en masse.  Nobody even glanced questioningly at Owen standing in the doorway.  It was just so strange... LOL.

Yes! I am just now catching up on this show, and during this part, I actually said out loud, “The fuck is happening right now????”
