So, what were the consequences, then?  What you just wrote makes it seem like there were no consequences.  Because there weren't.  The two fall guys, neither of whom masterminded the cheating, are doing just fine: Jeff Luhnow now owns a soccer team, and A.J. Hinch now manages the Tigers.  Meanwhile, Alex Cora, who did mastermind the cheating with the Astros and continued it with the Red Sox, was only suspended for part of the shortened COVID season and is still managing the Red Sox, and the players never received so much as a slap on the wrist.  Those players deserved to be kicked out of the sport, as happened to the Black Sox players a hundred years ago, but Manfred just couldn't be bothered because he's a lazy, cowardly piece of human garbage.  Tough shit that it would have messed up other teams.

How is someone being fired from a job not a consequence?

  2. 3 hours ago, mojoween said:

Nope.  Dusty is a whiny baby.

Everyone may or may not cheat, but the Astros were caught, and their punishment was…nothing.  Not a thing.  Just some boos when the stadiums filled back up.  The 2017 banner is still up, they have their rings, and the hunk of junk trophy still says they are champions.  Fuck the Astros.

And speaking of things that never happened, all of my calendars went from 2003 to 2005.

I don't see how it can be said that there were no consequences. Their manager and GM were both suspended and then fired.  Manfred explained that he did not punish individual players because he did not want to deal with grievances from the MLB players association. I think he knew that any grievances would mess up multiple teams that had signed Astros players in free agency.

Atwater episodes are always the best. Atwater is everything you want a cop to be, the perfect mix of empathy and integrity. He could have taken the easy way out but he didn't. I like that he went and talked to the mother at the end I think she really need to hear what Atwater had to say.

This was the best episode so far. This show certainly doesn't shy away from depressing shit.  The death in the carjacking was horrible, only to be followed up later by the death of that teenage kid. I felt terrible for Kevin having two people die on him in one episode. His face really showed how he was completely spent.

I also liked the last scene with the mother. The actress who played the mother was so good.

Not surprised that Gilles/Poirer won, but am at how high their scores were. I love their RD, but not so much the Evita FD. It’s certainly an improvement over the snooze fest of a FD from last year, but it doesn’t grab me to the same degree as their RD.

Piper Gilles looked stunning in that dress, and they flowed so well from one element to the next. I especially love their twizzles. I think the scores were in some respect a reward for the overall beauty of the program. I am excited to see them in more competitions this year.

Ugh! I hate the stupid competition between Nolan and Bailey. This is working its way up to being the most annoying wedding ever!

I have never met a couple who competes over everything. It's not funny or cute. There's no way that a woman as small as Bailey would eat a gigantic stack of pancakes. HATE Bailey.

I am tired of shows where a character has a a secret ex that their significant other never knew about. This is used all the time on TV dramas. If you have been engaged before, your husband or wife generally knows about it.

Wesley and the "ex" had zero chemistry. I also cannot believe that Wesley's ex girlfriend was able to manipulate the DA's office so easily. That bright red hair on that actress was ridiculously fake looking.

I did not understand why Chen didn't return Tim's radio. She was such a smug jerk. Shouldn't they be past that point now?

The casting department whiffed badly there. Which makes me feel bad for the actresses because they're not that bad.

The actress who plays Powell looks more like Lina Esco. The cynical part of me thinks they figured that casual viewers and those who multitask when watching TV (which is common now) might not realize that it's not Esco. Of course, the Powell character is not in a romance with Street, but people who watch this show for generic law enforcement drama or background noise might not notice or care.

  7. It's natural to wonder if Tom Brady's divorce is about football. However isn't it possible that, after he retired and was at home, they realized that they had grown apart?  It happens a lot and is a common reason for people to divorce after a life transition. Look how many people file for divorce right after their kids graduate high school.

Whatever is going on with him, I hope that he can move forward and find a way to make this a winning season. They are on second place in the division, so things are not over for the Bucs.

  8. The story was creepy. A lifeguard instructor intentionally drowning people makes no sense. No one noticed these suspicious drownings before?

I would love to know where they are going with Rollins and Carisi. I liked Finn's gift to Rollins. Rollins seemed in a better place mentally this episode. If she's getting better, why will she leave.

Mariska Hargitay looked really beautiful in this episode.

  9. Some have proposed the Astros as a landing spot for Boone if he gets fired. Aaron Boone and Dusty Baker are friends. Dusty knows everyone after 50 years in MLB.

I feel like the Yankees organization must be a horribly stressful place for managers.  I got stressed out just watching Aaron Boone on TV.

  10. What is with the ability for people on this show to attack people and assume their identity?  It is very lazy writing.

It's convenient that Ashley is so lacking in commitment that she was willing to dump Tim because he could be in danger as a cop. This whole time, it never occurred to her that Tim could get shot until an old injury came up? How stupid.

I did not buy Chen as a sergeant, even for one day.

I am still not in on the Chen/ Bradford thing because of the romantic development being based on undercover action as a fake couple.  Also, the age difference between the characters makes it odd. Lucy acts like a twentysomething, and it just does not work with Tim's cranky middle aged guy demeanor.

So she has three more years unless the next test takes just as long to pass.  She should shut off social media and focus all she’s got on this.  It only gets harder.  It’s worth it. She’s aging out of the sexy pictures.  The natural look is making a comeback.  No more excess fat in the butt and boobs.  Move on.  Doing something worthwhile.   She can do it.

I saw some essay questions from previous baby bar exams, criminal, torts and divorce on splitting their money.  Very easy essay questions and they had an hour to answer each one!

They were just samples on a couple of subjects.  The classes usually required in first year are criminal law and contacts laws and torts and civil procedure, constitutional law.

second year will be tax law, advanced writing including memorandums and briefs and correspondences.   A lot more electives like fiduciary expectations laws, family law, bankruptcy law.

This is true.  I don't see how she will grasp tax or bankruptcy if she had a hard time passing the test on the fundamental first year subjects.

Someone who takes multiple tries to pass any test required for a law license will probably also need multiple tries for the bar exam, and statistics show that the chance of passing are lower with each successive attempt on a bar exam. In July 2021, test takers from unaccredited institutions only had a 38 percent pass rate on the CA bar.  Test repeaters from unaccredited institutions had an 8 percent pass rate.

Outside of New York, I don't think many people are going to jumping for joy (save for rival stuff) over another Yankees title despite the fact that it's been over a decade.  I would love to see folks like Cole, Judge, Taillon, etc win.  More for the players, and less for management and ownership.

Which is the opposite case for Houston, but not really.  Despite managing a team or teams I rooted against, I wouldn't mind seeing Baker get his title in his current role.  If he does that would be great.  After that, then I don't see the need to root for the Astros going forward

I really like Dusty. I want him to get the ring as a manager.  For me it goes back to when he was in DC and was let go by the Nationals.  It made me hate the Nationals ownership. Dusty was so happy when he was hired in Houston, and I want his time there to have the best ending.

I am also a native of Houston, and I root for the Astros, despite not living in Texas for 20 years.  Even as an Astros fan, I found the first two games extremely boring. Pitching battles don't make good TV. It will be interesting to see if Gerritt Cole can get a win for the Yanks.

I remember her as wells big kiss several years ago .

I remember it, too. He gave her a very long goodbye kiss that looked romantic, but he talked about her like they were just friends. Made me wonder if she had hooked up with Wells in Nashville. I  guess this won't be brought up since Wells is married now.

  14. I have to wonder if TV optics or ad money played into the decision not to start the game when it stopped raining at 9:30 -10.  They would have lost a lot of viewers before the end due to the late start for East Coast viewers. A lot of people online think that MLB wants a Yankees/Houston matchup because it will bring drama and ratings.

They do play late rain delay games late under normal circumstances. I've been at a game at Nationals Park that started at 10 after a rain delay and ended after midnight. Ths concessions were closed about 10 minutes into the game. Many people, including me, left before the end because we had been at the park for four hours when the game started.

I also don't understand why the game is at 4. The weather is clear today. They could have played today at 1:05, leaving more time for travel to Texas.

    Rosalind is dead. Yay!
    Bailey is alive. Nay.....
There is a Rosalind acolyte... with a very fake beard.  Can we trust this buggar to finish the job? can we?

This was so boring, so predictable and so dumb, as every drama Fillion has tried to make.
We probably won't hear about Rosalind's "child" till the season finale.. when he will abduct Nolan just before he arrives at the church for his wedding with Bailey. Right ? 😜

p.s. If The Rookie's creators had any sense of humor they would hire Stana Katic to play the acolyte

And Nolan would have to make out with her to save Bailey.

Oh shoot Bailey lived. And that was a very unsatisfactory end to Rosalind.

I know. I was cheering hard for Bailey to bite the big one. I laughed when Chen said that John loves Bailey so much that he'll never let anything happen to her.  He wasn't even there when her dumb ass was getting tortured. Some love that is.

Is Powell a permanent addition to the team?

There’s no mention of Nora Fowler since they gave her “hearing problem”. I like her and Erika more than Powell. 😣

I certainly hope that Fowler returns.  She is an interesting character.

I thought the cinematography in this episode waa excellent.  I was only half following the story, but I liked all of the Deacon scenes.

I wonder if something is gonna happen with Kidd and Carver. Carver was asking questions about Kidd and Severide's relationship.

They talk to each other like they either want to sleep together or have in the past. It's a very weird dynamic and is not just work problems in my opinion. I don't understand why he called Stella to bail him out of jail. Surely he has other friends. And Stella has nothing better to do at that time of night?  Okay. The whole thing is strange.

With his face and his chest, maybe he has some type of intermittent alopecia or something?

Ashley is peeing on the sand by the edge of the water?!

With this and the farting and everything, why are these people coming on this show 7 years later to remind America that they exist by showing us how gross they are? Congratulations on making fools of yourself, I guess. All this to drum up some interest in her podcast, that I think is with Wells? I’ve never listened to it. Their kid is named Dawson. 100% Ashley named him after Dawson’s Creek.

I don't like the message they are sending with these two. Couples don't have to be all gross and in your face just because they got married. It was way over the top with Ashley laughing about her farting. My guess is that they got paid a lot to put on this act.

SIenna and Michael is just painful. She really showed a lack of awareness by talking about being a stepmom. She barely knows Michael and she already is trying to be the next wife.

Well, that was all suitably OTT for this show.
I suppose it would be nice if the new rookie gives up her superstitions, which I guess are a stand-in for conspiracy theories?

Speaking of which, I'm still not sure Lucy's boyfriend is not a Rosalind acolyte.

He's been suspicious ever since he hummed the song that she sang in the barrel.  Lucy has zero chemistry with him. He seems too young for her, and I thought they gave off sibling vibes in this episode.

Lucy deserves to get hurt if she keeps putting herself in dangerous situations like she did last night.  I am so sick of her cutesy crap.

Lisette Chavez is a good addition to the show.  I hope she stays around.

It's a great question. How come the roommate did not find Chris on the couch when she came home?

Her roommate appeared in the first episode of the season in the scene where Lucy woke up from a dream abiut Tim.

Am I the only one who thinks BM had some facial work done?  Eye lift?  Smoothers/ fillers? She’s looking a bit puffy yet very smooth

You are not the only one.  She looks really different in the forehead and eye area.  Her forehead is larger in proportion than it was before.  I was very distracted by the difference in her appearance.

I also thought Eddy and Danny looked weird compared to last season.  Eddy's makeup was really shiny. Maybe the show got new hair and makeup people.

Maybe that person was referring to Benson being (I find this hard to believe) straight laced and by the book cop including professional attire.

I was referring to her mother's background.  Even though she was raised by a single mother, her mother was educated and upper middle class.  They showed them at a fancy restaurant in season one.  Plus, Benson used to wear t-shirts and slacks in her early days.
