They did mention Scout in passing when they were at the new place on Coney Island. And Steve had/has a brother?
Yeah, his name was Jackie. He was the star of two of the most deliciously uncomfortable Mary/Miranda scenes.
First, that Mary should not have worn white to her wedding because she was already knocked up with Jackie.
Second, that she didn't have a problem with Jackie's black wife. Everyone just THOUGHT that was why they didn't get along.
Mary was amazing.
Regardless, I agree with everything you posted. Except one thing the LTW abortion non-talk. I never wanted children with my ex husband. Motherhood was never going to be my thing if I had my choice. But if I had gotten pregnant, I would have had the baby. Not because I would have changed my mind or because I feel abortion is wrong (staunchly pro-choice), but because that being would have been created accidentally through an act of love between us. I could never in good conscience get rid of a fetus like that. Just my two sense on that subject.

thought Aidan was renting. He owned the cabin but was waiting to be married/engaged to buy his primary residence. He bough Carrie’s apartment and the one next door to make a home for them because she loved living there and agreed to marry him.
Aidan 100% owned his place. In the episode Just Say Yes where Carrie gets notified that the building is going co-op Aidan tells her to buy it. She says that she's in no position to buy. He says that he is - that he can sell his place and buy hers and the one next door for them to live in together. She calls him moneybags and asks if he has a girlfriend.
For the record, I hate myself for knowing this.

Please. Someone let me know when they hit the Mattison family (I think that is their name.) I need to vent about this woman. Shes a complete loon and will get rid of nothing.

I kind of love Benjamin. He's no push over, and he's a match for Midge's wit.
He's also tall and strapping, which doesn't hurt.
And a rich doctor to boot. Someone's gonna have to pay for Midge's fabulous hats.

I think the argument @Browndog319 was making was that we would not question a man - as the typical breadwinner of the family, especially in the 50's - to leave his family for 6 months if his work required it. While I agree that Joel leaving was a misguided attempt to "find himself", Midge is pursuing an important step in her career.
Truthfully I have problems with both. I understand wanting as much as possible out of life and careers .. just dont have children until you're done figuring shit out.
I dont think we'll ever see eye to eye on this so let's go back to discussing how fun the show is and how much we love it :)

That’s sort of the point of the show - a woman who is destined for more running up against the stereotypes of 1950s Jewish society (and well, American sexism). Apparently, we still expect women to conquer the world and tuck the kids in to bed every night. It’s not fair to evaluate her choices in that way... she’s been struggling with this decision for 2 seasons. Being a wife and mother was part of it.
I don’t think Benjamin is completely gone. I think he might be on a shelf. Or he wants revenge. Look at the way that man buys art.
i actually like him and feel like MAYBE he is evolved enough to grow with her. But who knows.
Actually, I would absolutely think less of a man who did such a thing. I had an immediate dislike of Joel for S1E1 for the blase way he left, not only his wife, but his children. I find it to be a super-shitty thing for any person to do. I have never believed that "finding oneself" should be accomplished by mistreating the small people we have decided to have and agreed to raise. And expecting other people (i.e. our parents) to take care of our responsibilies is also a terribly selfish idea.

I know I'm terrible for saying this but I'm really disappointed with Midge for agreeing to go on a six month European tour. Yes, it's a running joke that she doesn't parent her kids but where the hell will they go while she's gone?? And at the end she seemed to be fully aware that she was cutting herself off from her family and she was ok with that?
I know it's a tv show and I'm overthinking things but man! Its harsh of her.
And also you don't throw over Zachary Levi to get in one last schtup with Joel. Stupid girl.

You know, the only thing that feels utterly off this season is how much time the Weissmans and the Maisels are spending together, especially given the fact that their children are separated and dating others. ESPECIALLY especially considering that they really dislike each other.

Midge tells the doctor that the reason she's not with her husband anymore is that he saw her doing comedy. Guess that's true, but she left out the mistress thing.
In all fairness, before he realized she was doing stand up and decided to leave her for good out of sour grapes over her talent, they were on the road to reconciliation.
Just typing that sentence reminds me again how crappy Joel is as a partner.

Maybe I just didn't notice it last season, but I feel like everyone's language has degraded considerably since season 1. And I do feel a little scandalized by full frontal nudity on this show. Not that I can't handle it, just that I view this show as having a cotton candy view of New York, and suddenly Midge is swearing like a sailor and Rose has a penis flapping in her face.
I did adore both Rose's and Abe's reaction to said penis though. Rose's gasping "Too close! Still too close!" and Abe's collapse and student yelling "Give him air! HE JUST SAW A NAKED MAN!" were comedy gold!

As someone who lived in both Philadelphia AND Harrisburg, I squeeeeeeeed embarrassingly when I heard the itinerary. I also yelled at the TV when Susie mentioned Harrisburg's Civil War Museum since it didn't open till the early 2000s.

Last season Joel happily left his wife and children to play with some silly bimbo, he also freely stole material from Bob Newhart, and claimed that they owned their apartment when it was in his father’s name. His parents were more working class than his in laws but they still retained some dignity, even if his father could be a jerk. This season his parents are idiots who are hiding money all over the place (that they can not find) and need Joel to explain the benefits of a bank loan. Joel’s mother was never the posh fashion plate Midge’s mother is, but she still looked nice last season. This year she looks like a crazy person in unflattering dresses and gambling all night at mahjong. Joel is comes off looking like a saint for taking care and loving these two. I hated it when Joel had to rescue Susie from the closet and was ever so manly punching out the guy that would not pay them. The biggest eye roll was all the ladies in the Catskills fawning over Joel like he was Elvis Presley and of course now, conviently, he only has eyes for Midge. A whole resort full of eligible men and the woman all only want the unexceptional looking guy who deserted his wife and children...totally believable.
I put a lot of the stuff with Joel's parents down to ASP being .. ASP. It happened in The Gilmore Girls. During the first season, things were pleasantly eccentric but with each season after, things got more and more ridiculously over the top. By the end of the seventh season it was like Stars Hollow was inhabited entirely by mental patients. I had hoped that age would have curtailed this quirk in Amy but alas. As soon as they started talking about Joel's mother having an accounting system based in ancient aramaic and the absence of the number 6 I knew we were in for it.
I loved the season overall but I did find myself disappointed in Midge's choice at the end. Walking away from your kids for 6 months without a second thought? Throwing over a decent man who loved and accepted her without being jealous of her talent to go to JOEL? Not smart.

I took a summer hiatus from DCC and the boards. I know the scuttlebutt about Holly and had read about Erica possibly being injured, but what is the Holly/Jenna/Erica thing????
-
Quick thoughts:
Love the new changes to the show but I miss seeing my old favorites in the intro ?
I know Holly is a polarizing DCC, but love her or hate her, DAMN that girl handled that SNAFU amazingly well. To have the presence of mind to be able to recover so gracefully till she got off the floor .. wow.
I have no issue with the three vets cut and I think Tasha should have been axed as well. A mediocre performer at best.
Of the new girls I am pulling for Patriots Alexandra and Lauren. Savannah too because she's a cutie. The rest, whatever. I'm not attached yet.
I have no clue why Brianna made it. Bad kicks, bad on field dance and not that great looking to compensate for the other two short comings. Also rolling my eyes at Christina - same old whining. I would have much rather seen elegant Katelynn given a spot.

For all those extra factoids, I think a pop-up version of the show would be awesome! It would make me watch twice, that's for sure. CMT, are you listening?
Welp. Now you just made me miss Pop-Up Video. Thanks!

HH must have a huge budget for that chopping sequence. We rarely see them doing anything else.
All the "we love to cook!" types are either chopping vegetables OR baking cookies.

Wait, what? I refuse to believe this exists! Not after last night. It will throw me over the edge! <Rocks back and forth, sucking thumb>
Sadly, yes it does exist and it is exactly as shitty as you think it would be. Perhaps even shittier. Worst 3 hours of my life.
Of course that could change if I ever watched this pile of tripe but there are some things so horrible even I won't watch.

It never made it to Broadway. The previews/touring company were so sucktacular, Broadway plans were cancelled. It was perhaps the worst live theatre I have ever seen.
Worse than the Ghost musical? The mind boggles (and cringes).

That final point is sacrilege and I won't hear it. Jerry orbach is all.

No mention of the two guys who mentioned these gems???
What is the most romantic present you have ever received and why? Threesome. It was my birthday.
And ...
What’s the wildest thing you’ve done in the bedroom? Had sex with a wife while her husband watched.- 1

I'm aware...it's still just a page to like. im sure the social media department was just trying to update the fans. If they hadn't posted at all, there would be anarchy ?
Even though the fan vote was fun just to watch the girls move, I like the photos on FB. Gives me a face to put with names, especially since so many of them won't end up featured on DCC: MTT.
Also, with so many of them posting videos on social media, I would imagine we will get to see most of them in some way or another.- 4

I will watch this solely because it is filmed in the most beautiful city in the United States. I can watch inappropriately acting rich, drunk white people on any number of Bravo shows, but there is only one Savannah.

S02.E11: The Last Supper Part Two: Entree [Season Finale]
in And Just Like That
Well, shit. I actually didn't hate that. Except for Che. And that Jackie guy - why is she friends with that dude?
Anyhow. Loved Charlotte's speech to Harry. Yeah, you don't get to just say you'll help but cry after a few months of it. This is YOUR family as well as hers. You're not "helping" - you're being a productive member of said family.
Loved Miranda and Steve's talk. Loved Miranda on the BBC. Loved all things Miranda except for her talk with Che. Because I loathe all things Che.
Loved LTW and Herbert. She's such a class act in all ways, and though he has moments of husband ideas, I really like how sweet he is with her and can pull out the supportiveness.
Loved Seema leaning into whatever with Ravi. I truly hope these idiot writers don't mess this all up for her.
Loved the kitty but CARRIE STOP LEAVING YOUR FREAKING DOOR OPEN. CATS WANDER.
Nya & Toussaint. Get it, girl. He'd be a lovely addition next season.
Thank God Carrie and Aidan are kaputs. Never liked him for her, simply too different.
