Oh, yeah; I forgot about that film she did way back when. Good catch.

Oh, my God, I hadn't even considered  that angle. Now I'm kinda hoping that she is the killer and set Gibbs up in such a brilliant, diabolical fashion. That would be a completely different character for Pam Dawber; she always plays such a nice person. I'd love to see her as a murderous sociopath. She'd probably dig that, too!

-The weird argument between Danny and Anthony about the former's hair and the latter's weight.

The only laugh I got was Erin saying Anthony looked like a baseball umpire.

Not to sound too terribly bitchy, but the only laughs I get watching this show these days are because of Danny's hair.

Also, I think this episode was an excellent example of what many of you have commented on over the past year or so: there are too many storylines to keep track of and not enough time to fully develop any of them. I, too, kept thinking that I missed something because I had no idea how the backstory behind the newspaper headline or Eddie's ridiculous "love language" rant came about. I think the writers thought they were presenting a "slice-of-life" episode," but ended up failing at the task.

Forget objection or irrelevant. Stupid defense attorney wasn’t even cross examining. That looked like a closing argument. Didn’t even ask Gibbs any questions about what he knew. Just spoke to the jury. God.  I knew this show wasn’t realistic, but this was even beyond the suspension of disbelief.

This is exactly what I was thinking when the smarmy defense attorney was doing nothing more than taking shots at Gibbs. No judge would allow that; it had abso-fucking-lutely nothing  to do with the charges against Parsons. And it in no way would persuade a jury to find him not guilty. Of course, a guilty verdict would have spoiled the denoument, when the thieving fuck-wad got busted for soliciting murder at the end of the episode, but still...

    15 hours ago, Packerbrewerbadger said:

If they were all so worried about Gibbs testifying because of the defense attorney attacking his credibility, why didn’t the prosecutor bring it up when she was questioning Gibbs- put it out there in their terms before he had a chance to question him - Duh!

That would have been the smart thing to do, and the most believable.

I suppose I'm just tired of Gibbs at this point.  If he's not going to rejoin the team, then what's the point of him being on the show at all?

It might have something to do with the $500K+ Harmon is paid per episode, probably notwithstanding the quantity or content of his dialogue. You can never have too much money, doncha know?

    Cheers!

  5. During the Roseanne years, I wasn't particularly impressed with Becky's character. At that time, Darlene seemed to steal all of the thunder. Perhaps it was because Lecy tended to delivery her lines in a snarky, sullen manner, which is typical for teenagers, I suppose, but annoying to listen to.

However, over the past couple of seasons, I have really grown to like Becky's character and I like how Lecy plays her. You really want to root for Becky, no matter how much she fucks up. And it looks like Lecy is having an absolute blast playing her this time around. I find that I am mostly watching for her. And for Mark, of course, who is trying so hard to rise above it all. Plus, he's so fucking cute, isn't he? Like a puppy.

But this episode was epic for Lecy. Despite the ret-conning many of you have commented on, I thought her performance was just wonderful. You really felt her pain. Hell, even I puddled up a little during that scene between Becky and Dan. But this is one that I will definitely watch again and again over the years.

Yeah, me, too. I don't mean to sound sexist, but that woman really needs to get laid. It might help remove the stick that's crammed up her kiester. She was banging the ex when she could get Nicky out of the house once or twice a week several seasons ago. What happened with that, I wonder?

Reportedly, Harmon wanted to leave. CBS said that they would cancel the show if he did so.

This reminds me of Magnum PI, when Selleck decided to do a Season 8 so Mosley and Manetti could do a little more financial planning or some such. This might be what Harmon has in mind: allowing his costars to start looking for work or make other post-NCIS plans. However, if 2021-2022 does turn out the be the final season, it'll probably be a short one. That seems to be the trend these days.

Absolutely; that's why they're on TEAMS, which doesn't exclude one team working with another. In fact, modern business and law enforcement models are designed around teams. The writers screwed the pooch on this one.

get that Erin is annoyed that her new boss is giving her notes (and took the job she really wanted) when the old one didn't, but this is a new boss with her own ways, so can't she just suck it up and be less touchy instead of telling the lady she works with her not for her. She's the boss!

I agree. I was really disappointed to see the DA back off of Erin when she threatened to quit if she was forced to toe the line. I think AnnA referred to her as an "entitled bitch" and I have to agree with that assessment. The Reagans need to fail every once in a while, instead of always coming up with ways to snap everyone else back into line. If I was the DA, I would have fired Erin for insubordination. Reagan or not, you just don't mouth off to your boss like that and expect to get away with it, let alone treated to a nice lunch! Christ! What a bunch of crap. Toss the skinny bitch out on her ass and hire people who are going to support you.

By the way, no one has mentioned Baez's adorable little pup with his matching jacket and cute little booties!

A far as Sloane "retiring" to Afghanistan, it would not surprise me if she, too, were eventually "escorted" into the sweet bye-and-bye via an IED, shot by insurgents, what have you. NCIS loves to kill off its female characters off-screen (Jenny, Ziva, Breena, Mrs. Ducky's Mom, etc...). Agent Lee, however, went out with style when she told Gibbs to shoot her (and the bad guy). Now that's what I call Girl Balls. Ditto for Cassie Yates, even though nobody liked her.

I'm a 61-year-old grandma and I agree! This "woke" shit really pisses me off. All "woke" means is that some mouthy little adolescent has something to bitch about, usually in the form of appropriating someone else's culture (about which she has NO clue). This episode was really the first time I've heard the word "woke" used on television; however, my TV choices are somewhat limited. Nevertheless, I think the "woke" generation will eventually get bored with shouting pithy, yet irrelevant slogans at a disinterested world and move on to something else.

Frank's coming down hard on the 51 Captain wouldn't have bothered me if we hadn't seen him generally being supportive of his men and a good leader and teacher. Frank isn't generally a hardass and this was out of character. The former captain was looking out for his family's best interests and now they're basically going to be completely screwed. He didn't get the gig in Westchester Co., and he was forced off the job in the city. He's now basically unemployable in his field pretty much everywhere in the northeast; a stiff penalty for the family of a lifetime officer given the transgression in question, and fair-and-compassionate Frank would realize that just as much as the guy's favourite tipple. I could see a demotion and a move to Staten Island or Far Rockaway but this was a bit extreme.

That really pissed me off. Frank was a total asshole to this poor guy, who was doing nothing more than trying to protect his family. I can see firing him, but torpedoing him and blacklisting him throughout the industry? If I were that guy, I'd sue the crap outta Frank and the NYPD. You just can't legally do that to an employee and Frank should know that.

Also, I think Frank is losing his grip, making statements about stopping police officers from "deserting the job" (or words to that effect). I think at this point I'd rather have an inexperienced, yet enthusiastic rookie on the job than a burned-out, disinterested veteran who is just marking time until retirement. And, if cops who resign have a year to change their mind (as we learned in the next episode), I think Frank needs to let some of these guys leave and get their heads straight. I'm willing to bet that a lot of them will be back on the job before the year is out. They just need some time to decompress...

40-year crush on Selleck notwithstanding, Frank Reagan is turning into a supercilious, implacable turd in his old age. Maybe it's time that he retired.

King also appeared on the L&O Trial By Jury episode Day, where he interviewed the rich, powerful mother of a serial rapist, that episode was the second part of a crossover that began with the SVU episode Night.

Was that the one where Alfred Molina played the rapist? From time to time, I see Part II on one of the other L&O shows (I forget which one) and it's frustrating, because L&O:TBJ is not shown in reruns, so you can't really get caught up on what's happened with the case up to that point. But I thought TBJ was a pretty good series, for what little of it aired.

I love Ben Jabituya. (Try saying his last name slowly and out loud. Sleaziness abounds.) But here are some great, sorta sleazy Ben quotes from Short Circuit for your amusement:

"I am thinking that she is a virgin. Or at least she used to be."

"I am sporting a tremendous woody!"

"With excitement like this, who is needing enemas?"

"Ooh, her pants are blazing for you, Newton Crosby!"

"Did she stick her tongue down your throat?"

Stephanie: "Would you quit doing that?" Ben: "You think I'm doing that for my own self-gratification?"

Number 5: "Benjamin Jabituya. Delete. Exit. Depart. Leave." Ben: "Eat my dust, Newton Crosby. Let us break wind!"

"Bye-bye, goofy woman. I enjoyed repeatedly throwing you to the ground."

Now that I think about it, those lines would also work for Gareth Sage and Ray Barnett. Talk about type casting.

    Cheers!

Love that the origin of Gibbs using his fireplace to cook was shown in this episode.  Also love that the house was originally lived in by Ducky.

So that WAS the same house! I just watched this episode last night and I kept rewinding that scene, because it looked just like Gibbs' house. I wasn't sure if that was, indeed, the case or if CBS was just too tight-fisted to pony up the bucks for building a whole new set to represent Ducky's home.

It just feels like they are recycling the plot where Fornell's ex-wife was killed and Fornell went all rogue and Gibbs had to lecture him ad nauseam about not doing anything stupid and he went out and did stupid stuff anyways. Gibbs should be on to this idiocy by now and not letting him go off on his own. At least we can be thankful that Fornell's daughter didn't die or else we might have gotten a repeat of the ridiculous scene where Fornell had Gibbs channel the spirit of his dead ex-wife.

I'll second that - all of it! I, for one, was happy that they killed off Diane. What a vicious, nagging, shrew she was! And the daughter is turning out to be a lot like Mom. I don't know why television writers need to depict "strong women" as rude, demanding, insulting, tantrum-throwing fishwives (although that might be an insult to fishwives). And giant pains in the ass to boot. And yes, I agree that this recycled Fornell-on-a-tear nonsense has run its course. He needs an attitude adjustment and a fucking haircut, stat! Gibbs should haul his ass back up to the cabin, get him drunk until he pukes, then let him go shoot somebody. He'll feel better after that. And so will I. Cheers!

Plus, wasn't she also Kate's sister? Another deep tie to the show.

Kate's sister was played by Wendy Makkena, who also played Sister Mary Robert in both Sister Act films. She wouldn't be a bad addition to the cast as a recurring character; however, Dr. Grace is a little more dynamic and doesn't take any of Gibbs' bullshit. I think she'd be great as a regular or semi-regular member of the team.

This show was so, so, so, so, soooooooooo good in its first season. Even if Kate annoyed the ever lovin' frack out of me. We have a Gibbs who smiled! Said "please", smiled. Joked. Smiled.

I agree about Gibbs offering the occasional "please" or making the odd joke in the first few seasons, but he was also a righteous pain in the ass bully during those seasons. How many scenes did we watch where he stood and screamed, "Now!" or made some other fractious demand like an overindulged, ill-mannered eight-year-old? I didn't like him as much back then; I prefer the more mellow, patient Gibbs we see today.

I dislike the Ryan storyline here as much as I dislike the Nicole Wallace storyline on LO-CI. Hate them both!!

I agree with you regarding Nicole Wallace. For such a smart man, Goren gave away waaaaay too much personal information during his interviews for her to use against him. Every time she engaged him, he fell for it and that was just stupid. Plus, I was getting a little sick and tired of her getting away with everything all the time; that was getting to be ridiculous. Nevertheless, her death was rather anticlimactic, sort of like an afterthought.

And I feel the same way about how NCIS wrapped up the Ryan story: her ex gets out of prison and she bolts? For such a ballsy broad, that behavior just didn't track. But then, the writers tend to do that with Gibbs' love interests; they all just abruptly up and leave without so much as a meaningful conversation or a wave bye-bye.

Jack's exit will probably be just as abrupt and out-of-the-blue. Oh, well. Easy come, easy go.

I had no idea that Maria Bello was leaving NCIS. I guess I should check in with this website more often! In any event, like Forreal, I, too, like the actress, but the character is redundant. The team never needed - or wanted - a psych profiler (or whatever her function is) before, so why did they write one in? This show works best when the cast is kept to a minimum; otherwise, there tends to be too many backstories of which to keep track and that just gets annoying.

I hope they address that. My money's on Vance as her secret crush. Gibbs is too obvious a choice and, other than Ryan, who did nothing but play with his head, Gibbs doesn't seem the type to get too attached to a shrink.

I read an interview with Zach Braff this morning and it turns out Nick, his wife, and their new baby were staying with Zach (now just the wife and baby) while looking for a home in SoCal. What a horrible tragedy. People need to understand that this disease is not just attacking and killing older people. In fact, I read somewhere that only one of every four who are actively infected are over 60. But, I have never heard of it making someone as sick as it is Nick Cordero. I hope he pulls through. 🙏
