  1. Let's go to Cajun Christmas. No, let's skip Cajun Christmas. Well, okay, let's go to Cajun Christmas. No, not a good idea to go Cajun Christmas. I really want to go to Cajun Christmas. It's better to not go to Cajun Christmas. Oh, all right, let's go to Cajun Christmas. The quints have a schedule, and Cajun Christmas will mess up the schedule. But it's Christmas and only one day of the year, let's go. But it will be too chaotic, let's not go. But I want to see my family, let's go. But it's so far to drive, let's not go. But the quints should experience Cajun Christmas, let's go. SINCE WHEN is "too chaotic" ever a reason for the Busby's to not do something? SINCE WHEN is "stay on schedule" EVER AN EXCUSE ANYWHERE FOR ANY FAMILY regarding Christmas Day?
  2. This might be interesting information to know, but it's become irrelevant re: Mimi. Google "Michelle Theriot Keller Williams" and you'll see that she's already become a real estate agent in Houston. Re: bachelor's degree and public school certification in most states: they are usually two separate things, but most colleges and universities assist the graduating seniors to do whatever they need to do to be certified so they ARE certified when they graduate. Certifications are usually split up by age groups i.e. what grade in school you're certified to teach. Pre-School Only can be one of the certifications. Whichever school Mimi worked for (pre-school OR kindergarten through 5, public or private) the school closed down, that's why she lost her job. I think she was at a pre-school. It's not easy for any teacher of any age to get a different teaching job at a different school. There can be all kinds of reasons such as valid certifications, tenure rules. Teacher salary is determined by years experience, but starting at a new school they often don't grant any previous experience, or cap off experience at 7 years even if you worked for 25 years. All Mimi's teaching was in Louisiana, but now she lives in Houston. (As of August 2018, not as of December 2017 on the current episode)
  3. I got the impression that others here were just suggesting a better color for the glasses, and usually multiple color choices are available. The bright white do look goofy. On Hazel, a pale pink or pale coral would "blend" (shout-out to Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci LOL).
  4. With many businesses, only one owner does anything active and the others don't. Also, Danielle may be the only owner involved who "runs" the studio, but she may employ a manager who handles a lot of the work, or trusted fitness instructors who unlock / lock the doors, prepare the cycles, etc. The Busbys may have a larger percentage ownership so agreed to do a larger percentage of the work. or vice versa to be able to still split the profits equally by doing more work to make up for less capital investment. I'm thinking of a very simple example of when I worked in a mom-and-pop food store in my town, I was just a teen employee but they trusted me to be there alone a lot of the time, and I kept things going. Lucky that my situation didn't mirror some of the Investigation Discovery small town murders, but that's beside the point !! Danielle "running" the studio alone might be creating the monthly employee schedule, staying in touch with a third-party payroll provider, etc. Maybe can be done from home, or minimal stops in the studio.
  5. I agree that the matching outfits make the TV show cuter. Also, they get a lot of the quint clothing for free. I also believe that the free clothing that looks like designer clothing comes from a local boutique, maybe representing a national upscale clothing manufacturer, and audience members can find out where to buy online. By dressing them identically, it showcases the outfits better for audience viewing pleasure and purchase potential. I agree that a lot of the outings are for the quint hijinks potential !! Also, just to change up the scene, it's all about variety, an audience will not tune in week after week to see them only eating in their highchairs or playing in their own backyard. On the other hand, in the recent "Adam alone" episode, he said "I have to take them on their daily outing." Even if they had no TV show, I could see why the parent or nanny might take them out on the days they're not in pre-school. The day passes long and slow when you stay at home with toddlers, and even the "work" of getting them ready just for a trip to a playground would pass the time somewhat pleasantly for the parent, the nanny and the kids.
  6. Regarding bunny and beds, I'm kinda glad that Danielle didn't do a fake "I'm so surprised" because that would be almost too insulting to us audience members, like "We Busbys think y'all are so dumb to believe this stuff is happening secretly." I'm both amused and annoyed at some editing that is out of chronological order. For a couple episodes, we could clearly see that Riley had a small wound under her lower lip. There would be some weird editing: the same episode would have some scenes where the boo-boo looked new, then the boo-boo was already healed and gone, then the boo-boo was back again!! Likewise when Danielle and Priscilla were drinking wine: full glass, almost empty glass, full glass, and you can tell it was not because they had re-filled the glass, it was just out-of-order editing. Adam seems so much happier and lively now. To me, that makes it clear that his previous depression was genuine, because Danielle and Adam are not good actors, and are basically just showing their real personalities and real moods. I'm glad Adam revealed and handled his depression on the show. Now, probably some combo of therapy, medications, adjustment to the situation, and improved financial situation via income from the show make him feel better about carrying responsibility for his family.
  7. I believe it will become easier and easier to treat the girls as individuals as they get just a little bit older. At ages 2 or 3 they seem like a "matched set", and it's fun to dress them identically and do all activities together. It's the reason why we like to watch OutDaughtered because it's fun and a unique situation. By the time they are in kindergarten or first grade, I predict they will want to dress differently, or Danielle and Adam will choose to dress them differently. Each girl may have different interests or aptitudes for different activities, choosing among dance, gymnastics, soccer, softball, etc. according to preference. With the size of League City, their local grade school is certain to have multiple classrooms for each grade level, so the Busbys and the school could literally split up all five of the girls into separate classrooms. Families and schools frequently choose that route even when they're only dealing with twins. Eventually, the family will start to function the same as a family that has six kids of six different ages, and the fact that five Busby girls are the same age won't matter as much regarding school, extracurricular activities, and each girl being treated as an individual.
  8. The latest VLOG on the Busby website is one big, lllooonnnggg infomercial for Hyatt Regency.
  9. Great explanation about realtors and real estate agents, thank you !! So it makes sense that Mimi could study for and pass the test, then work her way up as far as her ambition and talent will allow, learning about Houston as she goes. Overall, I like all of the adults and kids in the show's cast. Their choices and decisions seem as typical and sound as the choices and decisions I see in real life families, including families who have either more challenges or less challenges than the Busbys.
  10. Ha Ha many of us hated our own names somewhere during the pre-teens !! I predict that around age 11 sweet little Hazel will ask to be called Haylie !! She'll write it on all her school notebooks and other possessions, complete with a little heart to dot the "i" !!
  11. Yeah, Blayke is 7 years old. They've never said what other activities, if any, Blayke has done before. She did the same pre-school as the quints, which is a plus. I'm thinking maybe nothing else because ... Blayke was 4 years old when the quints were born. Many of the activities you mentioned would just begin at age 4, and some not until later than that. That family was understandably busy adapting to the quints. Failing to put Blayke in activities is certainly not irresponsible parenting. Also, it's possible that the pre-quint or before-age-7 Blayke was too shy to want those group activities, or just not interested, so D & A didn't force her. My older son loved EVERY activity we exposed him to, but my younger son HATED everything and cried inconsolably. We never forced the younger guy. Both kids today are adults and both stable, well-adjusted, social, exemplary adults. Plus, even though OutDaughtered framed the gymnastics story line as though that will be a weekly Mom-Dad-Blayke activity, I doubt that it will be, they'll probably end up drop off and pick up, or ride-share, or all the things that other normal families do. I'll bet Blayke has had tons of sleepovers at Ashley's and Crystal's, just as she would've even if she had no brothers or sisters at all. I'll bet they've taken Blayke on lots of events without the quints. Again, that info is just not shown on screen because it's not that interesting.
  12. Ha Ha I just looked up "tee-tee" recently, too. It's absolutely a regional southern thing. Seems especially prevalent in the area where the Busbys live: southeast Texas and neighboring Louisiana. Adults answering the question reported that family members from some other southern states have used it. I found the Google references not related to "OutDaughtered" but questions from people who had just moved to the south and were either directly told or figured out that "tee-tee" is acceptable polite Southern etiquette, whereas "pee" or "pee-pee" is vulgar, enough to even get your mouth washed out with soap !! I know, I know, it doesn't make sense that "tee" equals polite and "pee" is like a swear word. But, there you have it !! Again, it's a very regional thing, not a widely accepted Southern custom. That's why most of us never heard it before.
  13. I just looked this up, I don't have THAT much reality TV in my head !! Kate + 8 (counting when it was Jon and Kate +8) started in 2007 when the little kids were 2 yrs old. It was preceded by two one-hour specials when the kids were infants, and when the were one year old. The little kids are now 13 years old, the twin are 16 years old. I never watched 18 Kids and Counting, but wasn't that on for a long time? Now they have "Counting On". I don't watch those shows, do they film anything interesting to cause so many people to continue to watch? It seems that audiences do latch on to families and individuals that they enjoy, and the family cast members could spend the hour sitting on a sofa doing crossword puzzles and people would still watch them!! LOL Some of those shows can go on for quite a long time. So the longevity of Outdaughtered is totally unknown at this point. P.S. I loved your prediction that Mimi will star in "Million Dollar Listing Houston" !!!!
  14. There's no way that the Busbys chose their kids names as an honorary for Oprah !! LOL that's just a coincidence. I also doubt that they split "you pick three, I'll pick three" because neither D nor A would be willing to put up forever with a kid name they didn't like just because the spouse wanted that name. If one suggested "Parker" and the other one hated the name, then they would've dropped it. However, I can picture a more cooperative scenario where they each searched baby name books and made suggestions, settling on the names that both of them liked.
  15. Yeah, knowledge and experience are the best qualities for a realtor, but personality and people skills seem to matter a lot in that business, too. Although buying or selling a home is often the biggest business deal that a person will ever make in their life, not everybody is wise and skillful about choosing the best realtor, understanding the process or the best offers, etc. Although real estate is competitive in one way, sometimes the realtors within the same agency are remarkably cooperative and then all benefit from the reputation of the agency. So I'm sure Mimi gets lots of help from her co-workers. I'll bet there are even some buyers and sellers who would choose her because she's a cast member on a TV show.
  16. Mimi is already working as a real estate agent for Keller Williams in Houston, so she did not move back to Lake Charles and she did find a job. Yay, Mimi !! I didn't know that Dale left Nick, too. Oh, well, probably better for all to keep business and family separate. Except when the business is starring a reality TV show. Then better for everyone to stay on board a.k.a. on camera !! LOL
  17. Thanks for the link to Mimi's LinkedIn page. I stand corrected, I'm sure that information about the college degree is true, then. Also understand how a school closing could result in a RIF with no replacement position. Wow, that's awful !! Bad things happen to good people. She has definitely had things tough, it makes her comment "I didn't think this is where I'd be at age 54" even more understandable than it already was.
  18. Oh, sorry, forgot one thing I really wanted to say: MIMI BEING A TEACHER -- I don't believe that Mimi is a certified public school teacher. I think she previously worked at a pre-school. I think calling Mimi a "teacher" is one of those show exaggerations. I doubt Mimi has a college degree ... she was 20 years old when she had Danielle, and I think Ashley and Crystal are older than Danielle, so maybe 18 or 19 when she had LiLi and KiKi. After that they've portrayed her as a single mom supporting her kids, but I don't know when her marriage or her relationship with the girls dad(s) ended. She could've gotten genuine teaching certificate, but I don't think so.
  19. So glad I found this discussion forum!! It's fun to discuss "Outdaughtered" with y'all !! Overall, Danielle and Adam and their entire family / cast members are good people with good hearts, and they make good decisions. While it's fun to enjoy the warm and funny moments, I also like to gossip in my own mind, or with you guys, about some of the Busby fails or bad decisions. I definitely love to gossip about how reality television takes genuine moments of a family's life and tweaks them to make an interesting TV show. Here are just a few topics, I hope you find these interesting too. THE UPSCALE KIDS CLOTHING -- I believe they get that clothing for free from the store. That way moms in Houston (there are many wealthy families in Houston) who see those outfits can buy the clothes at the same boutique, or any moms nationally can find the clothing maker and order online. The boutique was featured in one or more early episodes. MONEY IN GENERAL -- Danielle and her sisters had a very modest childhood economically, so they know what that's like. Husbands Nick, Dale and Adam maybe grew up with more money, I don't know. It appears that all six of them have worked hard, some since their teenage years. Now, Nick is the owner of his own business, which sells safety equipment and safety products. Dale and Adam work / worked for Nick, so it's kinda easier if you're able to be employed by a family member. So, in my mind, all of them deserve any financial success that has come their way. MIMI'S (NICK'S & ASHLEY'S) FLOODED HOUSE IN HOUSTON -- who knows, there are so many possibilities there. Insurance -- is flood insurance different in Texas and Louisiana where floods are more common, maybe paying for temp living is not part of insurance coverage. N & A would have the insurance on the home, Mimi probably should've had renter's insurance for her possession but maybe didn't. Mimi is not on camera at D & A house as much lately, so even though she supposedly lives there, she might be rotating around to all three daughters to see all her grandchildren, etc. Collectively, the three daughters could easily pay for Mimi to live in an apartment, but what would your own family do? I know my family would have grandma stay with us while waiting for a permanent home. MOM&DAD TIME FOR BLAKE and GYMNASTICS and THE EXPRESSWAY -- of course a private gymnastics evaluation for Blayke was scripted, it filled up a lot of screen time and helped to cover one of the main themes of the show: making sure that Blayke gets some personal attention. I believe that's one of the genuine and appropriate goals of D & A, and my guess is that they do stuff with Blayke alone that's good for Blayke but not interesting enough for TV. In fact, it might be a way where D & A show how they truly love their kids regardless of any TV show. Oh, the expressway -- Houston is so full of expressways that sometimes you need to hop on it and off it for just a 10 minute ride. Or, I also support the theory above that the gym studio that filmed the eval is not the same place where Blayke will have lessons. MOVING PARKER AND RILEY TO NEXT CLASS -- totally scripted way to handle a true situation. It was time for the girls to move up, but it also provided great dramatic tension in claiming that Danielle was "pro" and Adam was "con" -- that disagreement was probably not even true. Miss Randi, a wonderful angel at the day care, normally would've set up a very smooth transition of quietly taking the girls to the new classroom for a few minutes over several days until they were acclimated. In fact, maybe she did. But the filming made it look like an ambush at the door !! ADAM NOT WORKING AT NICK'S ANYMORE -- when was that announced on the show? I missed that !! PROVIDING EXPERIENCES AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE QUINTS -- I give D& A a grade of A++ they are great. Many a time when the girls were smaller and running around the living room, I thought guiltily to myself "If I was the mom, I'd just keep all five of them in their high chairs and give them toys there to do" !! LOL Now that the quints are older, I think the Busbys have created a wonderful safe backyard where the quints can spread out THE POOP -- no way !! Is it common for toddlers to remove their own diapers and play in poop? My kids never did that, so I don't know. If my kids had done that, I'm sure I would've used appropriate behavior mod with stern voice and clear "no" and age-appropriate consequences such that they wouldn't have done it more than a couple of times before I extinguished that behavior!! A leaky diaper is different. BTW on the poop episode a lot of it looked real but the little round dry poops next to the door looked fake!! HAVING A REALITY TV SHOW -- if anything happened in my life that would result in an opportunity for my own reality TV show, I would do the show in a heartbeat. Go Busbys LOL !!! I try to analyze why I love to watch them, but I can't totally figure out why. It feels comforting to watch their show, I guess I don't really need to know why.
  20. I've watched every episode of the show, and I love the show. But I don't know all of the gossip / truth nor all the criticism / compliments that have been shared here, or on other forums, about the show and all the family cast members. I saw something somewhere claiming it's true that Danielle and Adam employ nannies, which of course everyone would understand and support, but D and A were appropriately criticized for saying or implying that they do everything themselves and/or help only from other family members, not paid professionals. I'm guessing the same is true for cleaning help. When the quints got makeup all over the furniture and carpet in Blayke's room ... no way Danielle and Adam cleaned up that mess with furniture polish wipes and carpet stain remover !!! As I raised my kids in the suburbs, I was lucky that I could afford to have cleaning help once per month. My family income was squarely in middle-middle class, not wealthy by economic definition although I was blessed and grateful to have what I had. Cleaning help was not that expensive. The Busbys get at least a million annually for the TV show, ads on their website, plus product endorsements (did you see the "Honest Kids" juicebox that Adam's camera lingered on impossibly long?), income from the cycle business, plus they must've saved some money from all those pre-quint years when they were double-income and zero or one kid. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has already confirmed that Danielle and Adam have cleaning help, or it hasn't been discussed anywhere?
  21. I love watching this show !! While it's based on true situations and true personalities, any viewers must know that it's also scripted, not 100% real or spontaneous. For a TV show to be popular, it must be interesting, and to be interesting there must be a problem, tension or conflict for the characters to handle. That's a basic concept of story telling for centuries, and the basic formula for modern reality television. So, Hurricane Harvey and the damage to Mimi's house really happened, couldn't be scripted. Mimi is genuinely depressed, that's not scripted. But the plan to highlight Mimi's depression plus plan a party that Mimi did not attend: that was scripted. It felt false, too, because it was not Mimi's genuine character -- even a depressed Mimi would not do that. Plus, the writers of the show needed to script Mimi's genuine depression one of two ways: showing her getting some temporary relief from depression by soaking in the joy from her family at a birthday celebration and making the episode happy-happy, or creating dramatic tension and drama by planning Mimi's non-attendance at the party. They chose the non-attendance, and that decision was made at the meetings of the producers, directors, show-runners, or whatever are the titles of the people who run the show. Don't all of us want to continue watching the show to see what will happen to Mimi? That is the planned result of scripting the show to intrigue the audience. Some of you say, or just think to yourself, "I just want to watch the cute babies", but week after week of watching the quints paint, break eggs for breakfast, or throw water balloons would not sustain a viewing audience.
