Regarding the dog kick: Michael made an effort (albeit very brief) to see if the dog had an owner. When no one answered, I think he assumed it was a vision or fantasy or whatever those flying shrimp were (i.e. something not real that did not belong there). So he wasn't kicking an actual dog, he was kicking an imagined creature. As soon as he realized it was someone's actual dog, he brought it right back.
As for all the questions many of us think the people there should have: I think it's a commentary on the fact that people - "good" or not - will believe positive things about themselves. So if all those people are told they are the super-best and deserve to be in The Good Place while others don't, they don't think to question it or ask what makes them better than everyone else. They just accept that they are, in fact, better.

fastiller, if you have a subscription and need to stop it for a few days, they do have an option to donate those days to a school. So I'm sure you could set up a M-F permanent donation and they'd love you for it.

And on an unrelated note, MJF did not seem to have any of his often shaking side effect of his meds last night.
How much of the usual shaking (by Canning) is actually MJF's symptoms,and how much is for the character? I got the impression that Canning turns it up when he's in court to get sympathy from the judge and jury. But this week he was only in the depo room and could relax and not pretend to be worse than he is. I don't think MJF's shaking (on his meds) is nearly as bad as he portrays Canning's to be.

I thought this immediately!
On the more mundane side of things: It was only their memories of the time in Camelot that were erased, right? So they all remember why they went to Camelot and why Emma became the Dark One, and everything else that went before, right?
So why the hell didn't Hook know that he'd bought that house for Emma? Or maybe we're supposed to think that he and Henry found that newspaper in Granny's place AFTER it was transported to Camelot, and spent some time there real estate shopping on the off chance they made it back to Storybrook?

Beebo guy has a good product. Just think of all the young parents that can keep posting and texting while providing their precious bundle with sustenance! Having both hands free takes the potential for multitasking to new levels!
That's exactly what I thought! In fact, I actually laughed when the guy mentioned that parents could use their free hand to read to the baby. You know 95% of them will be texting and ignoring the kid.
If you look at those skates on Amazon and read some of the comments, there seems to be a very steep learning curve and lots of accidents and injuries. I'm surprised none of the sharks brought up the liability issue.

I guess it doesn't matter who was paired with whom since I am positive TPTB if not the judges made the pairings and the winners were pre-determined.
This. I hated that the pairings were pre-determined. They should have shown the comics picking a name from a hat or something. This just seems like the judges chose the winner weeks ago and are just working backward now to make the eliminations work out "coirrectly".
The only ones of the Top 5 that I like are the first guy (Mike? Michael?) and - relunctantly - Ian Bagg. I hate Andi and Dominique and the other 2 are take-'em-or-leave-'em.

It's getting to the point where I watch this show exclusively for the "quick" recap of the week at the beginning, because I can't remember the last time JO had a main story I gave a crap about.
And this is what I like best about the show. Every week I say, "who cares about that?" and then I end up educated and outraged about something I had never even thought about 10 minutes ago. And JO seems to affect real change (or else benefits from great serendipity) because so many of the things he rails against are changed/ended/begun shortly after his show.

I think it was more that they didn't want to embarrass Harry or "out" him. I don't think what she did was so bad - she was telling a quirky, local story which she thought would be interesting. I can totally see myself putting my foot in my mouth that way too - saying something negative about someone only to discover that person was related to the person I was telling.

I just got caught up with the reruns tonight.
Freddie Willard is the cutest thing! But I nearly turned it off because of Robin McGraw. I would say that she drunk off her ass, but I think she's always that annoying. It felt like I was watching an SNL take-off of Celebrity FF.

All I got out of this was that Big Jim needs to find better bullets. The ones he has now can only tear cloth and break glass. But they don't actually penetrate skin or tear a photograph.

I thought it was pretty much a perfect finale for this show: a good mix of very silly and sweet. I'm glad they worked in several scenes where the characters were supposed to cry, because I'm sure they were real tears.
I loved the last bit saying that the girls still got together every Wednesday night. That's how I want to remember them.

I like the premise (as an aging boomer trying to keep up in the workplace), but it's all a little too precious and gimmicky. And do couples really talk like that, with such blunt language? I can see a bunch of girlfriends having the conversation about rejuvenation surgery, or the guys joking about it, but I'm not sure if two married couples would carry on the way they did. I think the show is trying a little too hard to be edgy and relevant.
IMO, "Togetherness" handles these issues much more realistically.

What was up with Harry's questions? I felt like I was watching Miss America with the carefully calculated answers.

I took Quentin as saying it sucked that one of his 2 best friends was definitely going home, and not as an attack on AI. But I was laughing at what sort of breakdown he'd have if it had been him against Joey for the sing-off. He also reminded me of the famous story, "The Lottery", where everyone loves a good stoning until it's your own family, and then it's not fair.
I look forward to Quentin each week just for his outfits and hair, but I still continue to be baffled at how singers can be critiqued as being great if they could only learn to sing in pitch. WTF? Isn't that sort of the basic expectation of being a singer -that you sing in pitch?
I loved Joey and don't really care about anyone now, except maybe Tyanna. I am in the minority, but I can't stand Clark. He's extremely boring and I find him creepy looking, like a Stepford Singer.

A good friend of mine lives in L.A. and is semi-retired (limited income) and racks up quite a few minor traffic tickets. He always has the choice to pay a fine or do community service. So he has logged many a day working in soup kitchens and other charities that benefit the poor. This always struck me as a perfect solution and gives people a choice of which option works best for them. It also helps the city's bottom line as it provides plenty of volunteers and so eliminates the need to hire as many employees.
I never understood why other (all?) cities don't do the same thing. I would think this would make a great platform issue for a mayor, or even governor, to run on.

I agree. Who pays $5000/year to hide their stupid pics?
As I understand it, the pictures and links don't disappear, they just get buried on page 2 of a google search. But surely any company that takes these background checks so seriously will just start jumping to page 2 automatically to see what the applicant is knowingly trying to hide.
I suspect this problem will burn itself out over the course of the next few years as more and more millennials enter the workforce and more and more boomers exit. It's like how smoking pot used to be a surefire way for a presidential candidate to lose, whereas now it's pretty much expected that anyone under the age of 50 has tried it.

I agree that this is one of the best - if not the best - shows on TV. I am appalled it doesn't get more recognition.
I think if you are Matt's age and thought he was hot in Friends when you were both in your 20's/30s, then you absolutely think he is still hot now when you are in your 40s/50s. But if you are a 20-something who never saw Friends, you would look at current Matt (or anyone pushing 50) as old, and find it hard to believe he could ever have been young.
I have a hard time with Stoke after watching Nashville. Sam P is pretty good at playing 2 such different characters though.

I think all high school history and civics classes should be taught by John Oliver. He takes obscure topics which you've never thought about and which sound blindingly dull and he makes them interesting and compelling.
Schools can offer extra credit for doing one of his hashtag projects.

I just can't even with this show.Two days after heart surgery, Kara is wheeling herself all over the place? One hour before surgery, Jordy is drinking a soda and playing cards?

I was just coming to post almost the same thing. Every speech Rob Lowe gives makes me think of the purposely awful, cheesy things he said as the Grinder. I keep expecting Fred Savage to pop in saying, "Really?"
This episode felt especially cheesy to me. And how much time was supposed to have passed for the entire episode? Because that soccer guy sure made a very quick recovery from a life-threatening condition to major surgery to zipping around in a wheel chair giving inspirational speeches to his teammates.
