  1. When Gabby went to the mansion to see the guys and they started playing football I told Mrs. Diego -- if there's one thing guys like more than girls, it's tossin' the pigskin with the boys.

I forgot to mention that there is one other thing that guys like more than girls -- wrasslin' (or in this case, savatein') with the boys. These producers know what they're doing.

I agree with the posters here that the leads getting upset when the group doesn't jump at them is stupid, but I also don't understand how none of the guys understand this meta. In those scenarios, hang out with the lead, not the contestants. It's ez money.

  2. It's easy to pile on Peter, but what the hell is he supposed to do with this group of girls? Women are lying to his face, tattling on each other, returning to the show after he sent them home, and pulling him during the middle of the rose ceremony. This is frankly the worst set of contestants I have seen in recent memory. They're so mean to each other, and as much as they get mad at Peter for "getting caught up in the drama" they are the ones putting him in the middle of it.

I mean, yes I would love for Peter to simply smarten up and send Tammy, Kelsey, Sydney, and Victoria P home the second they started being the worst, but that's a lot to ask.

Kelly sucks btw. She said she is very mature for her age... girl you are 27, what does that mean? You've been an adult for a while now, there is no more "being mature for your age", you're just a grown human. Maybe she is comparing herself to her fellow contestants, but even they have the maturity to not get a rubber face until their 30s.

I should clarify, this is purely speculation on my part. I used the term 'mid-key' because although it has not been said anywhere (so not 'high-key'), I think it is pretty apparent he is a bit of a hound dog (so not 'low-key').

I would say I am on the lower end of partners for guys my age, but I am still shocked that some of my friends are around 80-100. It is a much more attainable number than I thought.

Or steals a  dress and then tells the  store security she hadn't expected the rules to be all that strict. I  don't like her looks either, but I really didn't like Peter who was willing to take the cheater over the girl who played fair because he was feeling hornier for the old one In the moment.  I always admire the Bachelors who kind of keep control of their crowd  and don't let the bullies win.  I thought Brad was pretty good about that, or maybe I'm forgetting again.

Totally agree with your analysis re: why he let the cheating slide. Mrs. Diego and I were both up in arms about it and I said to her, "Well you know why he didn't say anything -- he likes her."

  4. 1. It took me so long to figure out who Madison reminded me of, then I finally realized it was Rose Leslie. Someone else in this thread agreed, so thank you for confirming for me I am not crazy! I know lots of people here didn't like, like her, but like I did like how she said that she wants him to find love and hopes it is with her but she gets it. Maybe she's not crazy? Still, this show has a reverse onus on proving crazy -- all contestants are presumed crazy until proven sane.

    2. Agree with everyone saying Peter was Hannah's fourth choice (after Luke, Jed, and Tyler) and that this whole angle is dumb. I thought it was rich that Hannah was saying that her choosing Jed at that time was a bad choice and that she was falling into old patterns and choosing something comfortable. I see she is retconning her decisions. Just say you didn't have the facts and were wrong! No one cares about your ego! Couldn't tell you how many times I told Hannah to get off my TV during this episode.

    3. Peter has mid-key slept with 100+ women. Is this an issue? Not in a vacuum, but for this show? Yeah, when I don't believe he's here to settle down, the women constantly make gross sex jokes, and Hannah comes on and somehow outsleazes everyone.

    4. Kelley looks like Cher, and that is certainly no compliment. I don't know why they are keeping up this charade that her and Peter had some sort of meet cute in the lobby when we know they had a drunken one night stand. After all the gross references why cover that one up? Probably because she makes it far.

There's a lot about Kelley I am disliking. Her cheating on the obstacle course is one of them, but I probably dislike Peter more for it. Now look, I know this may be a silly thing to get sanctimonious about, but how in the heck can one justify going straight through an obstacle course after an entire group of competitors grinded their way through multiple obstacles? I really wish one of the girls had brought it up with Peter.  I personally would find that type of behaviour extremely unattractive. I don't know if Peter thinks she is being 'bold', but it seems like that word is code for 'rude' a lot of the time. Let's see if Peter enjoys how 'bold' his new girlfriend is when she brings home a puppy without consulting him, or runs off with his AMEX card, etc.

Finally, her one possible redeeming quality was her education level and career, but upon further review...  graduating from a meh law school and working at daddy's firm? Colour me unimpressed.

  5. These people are acting like high schoolers and it is super cringey to watch adults say some of the things they say.

I read the texts right after the episode. Before reading the text messages, the one thing I thought that Blake did that was wrong was hide the fact that he slept with Caelynn. However, even during the episode I was questioning Caelynn's version of the events. She always struck me as a manipulating mean girl. In hindsight, Blake's reaction to her on the beach makes sense. In fact, I think he was being too nice! When she told him she felt disrespected by him and that he treated her like a mistake, I would have said are you kidding me? You are the one who just wanted to bang and keep it quiet. Now, this is assuming the texts are the whole story which, eh, I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't.

I get why Kristina is hurt, but I don't think she should be mad at Blake. She should be upset at the situation and try to move on. Again, I don't think Blake did anything morally wrong, but he's a bit dumb to think everything was gonna be fine.

Honestly, it just looks like these girls are drunk off Blake's dick game and if they can't have him they're gonna get mad. Even Taysha said she was into Blake because everyone else is into him. I get that someone is more desirable when they're popular, but this is bizarre.

The one thing I really dislike about Blake is that it seems that his biggest issue with all this crap is that his image is going to be ruined, and specifically that that will impact his ability to get with women. Guy really needs to destroy his ego.

Hannah is attractive at first glance, but she has the mannerisms of a 12 year old girl. I would be turned off after talking to her. I actually find it creepy that guys like her sheepish act.

  6. I find these theological debates between individuals hilarious because it is clear that each person has their own view of what is right i.e. what they want, and they just use scripture to confirm their own beliefs. Luke is controlling and wants a faithful woman, so he says that's what Christianity is about. Hannah is narcissistic and horny, so she interprets the Bible to say that's ok. Luke's interpretation is worse because the result is worse, but they both have the same process.

    • Love 10
  7. I don't like Luke P but this is really all Horny Hannah's fault. You've instructed him, time and time again, how to act and you still aren't getting what you want. Also, instructing someone to NOT say what you want to hear is putting them in a no-win situation.

I understand the gripe the men have with Luke. They don't want him talking about them and submarining their chances with Hannah. That being said, I think the most effective strategy is just to avoid him.

I struggle to find anything appealing about Hannah. She seems like she'd be such a chore to hang out with. Thank you to whoever pointed out that her nose gets red when she drinks. I didn't see anyone else comment on this on the forum or on Twitter and I thought I was crazy for thinking that.

  8. I'm not exactly sure what was going on inside Cam's head for revealing that story, but I agree that Mike was sneaky.

If we only go by what we saw, Cam thought he might be going home because of the contents of the story, NOT that he would be going home and therefore he needed to tell her the story. I think Hannah had her mind made up about Cam because she didn't like his past interruption, and when this came up she chose to believe Mike's version, even though Cam never even used the words pity rose on air (and as others have pointed out, Mike is the one who got a pity rose this week).

One other side note about Mike: the way he ran to Hannah and lifted her up in front of the other guys is imo akin to Luke P doing push ups with her on her back. Mike is tall and strong and he knows it and he wants to show it. Luke's was worse, though, because he told Hannah to just stand on his back and look pretty. Ugh. Sometimes when I see women complain about toxic masculinity etc. I say to myself, what are they talking about? What are they seeing I'm not? Then I see displays like this and I cringe. I think I'm extremely lucky to have the friends and family that I have because I don't see this behaviour often (being a dude also makes me not attune to it, I'd guess as well). Anyway, wasn't expecting that diatribe but yeah. These dudes and their displays really bother me.

I'm not sure who is more psycho between Luke and Cam. Luke strikes me as a guy who always gets what he wants and is still very immature (he's only 24, I think). He may just be a dumb Hulk. Ms. Diego called him a puppy when he was following Hannah around. He may also be very calculating; I wouldn't be shocked if the born again thing is a calculated move to make people believe he's a good guy. Cam, though, is a clear calculated psychopath. I mean, I genuinely am unsure if he has the capacity to care about other people. He acts as if humans are tools that he can use to further himself.

I also dislike Hannah's "instructions". If I was a guy on the show and I genuinely wanted to find love, I'd be myself and see what happens. I don't like this idea that Hannah has a checklist of how to act.

I firmly believe Grant is wealthy one way or another. I want to hear his lore before he gets sent home.

  9. God, Joe was great. Kendall is nowhere near his level of intelligence (or, at least, self-awareness). I think Joe laying it our for Kendall was the most true, real, aware thing I've ever heard on this show. Just truth after truth after truth. I kept nodding along with everything he was saying. Kendall was so lucky that Joe gave her the time of day. I bet in her head she is out of his league, but in the real world there is zero reason Joe should be interested in her.

But Joe's line in the car was really sad: "I guess I'll just miss her now." Jeepers.

That trumpeter with Diggy after John took away Olivia was fantastic. I'm pretty sure that Diggy wasn't actually crying and they gave him saline. I swear he was stifling a laugh in the car when the trumpeter was playing.

I've actually seen quite a few of this tweets from him commenting on ongoing seasons. While his humour style (why did I choose such an awkward term?) is not my cup of team, I understand how it would be popular. I didn't know about his previous marriage and kids.

I don’t think ABC casts for “appealing”, they cast for ridiculous. Stable, intelligent, well adjusted people don’t need help finding dates and certainly don’t look for dates on reality TV. That typically means casting emotionally unstable women and creepy dudes. I didn’t see Evan on Bach, but I think he’s a rich owner of fertility clinics? They probably cast him for his humor/creepiness.

Yeah it's getting ridiculous. It's been so long (and I was actually quite young) since the franchise started but correct me if I'm wrong, the original premise was all these accomplished women were going after this prince type bachelor and it was supposed to be an elegant fantasy. Maybe I'm taking a page out of Shushanna's playbook and mythologizing the series the way she mythologized Kamil, but it seems like ABC has gone so far to wacky "entertainment" that they do cast these caricatures. If I had my way I'd reset the series with a completely new Bachelore or Bachelorette that has never been involved in the show.

  11. When the Colton and Tia stuff was happening I pulled out my phone and began watching the US Open. Mrs. Diego did not begrudge me. I am really not looking forward to a Colton season, even though I like him a little more after this show. But I think that's only because I was comparing him to Tia.

Kevin and Astrid are the best couple because they are so normal. I recently watched the Canadian season of The Bachelor with Chris Leroux. Gosh, it is really jarring to see people on this show be sorta normal.

So now John invented Venmo!? I know he's not going around spreading that lie (he told Jubilee he didn't) but I'd be worried if I were him. You can't let that misinformation spread.

I don't really care about the Eric/Cassandra thing. Just don't have the energy.

Chelsea was being an absolute weiner. When she was having her panic attack, I admit I felt bad -- but only because I didn't care at all for her plight. She always seemed like a decent person and I think it was honestly a realization that the show finally got to her and she was being shitty -- to her kid, to her friend, and to herself.

I don't know what is up with Kamil. At first, on Becca's season, I thought he was trying to be a cool PUA with his 60/40 line, now I'm considering that he's just a super awkward weirdo. It would explain why he's into Annaliese. Another thing I don't understand about Kamil: why does he still have an accent? My brother was 6 years old when my family moved here from Poland and he doesn't have a trace. Heck, Kamil's accent is stronger than my uncle's, and he was around 14 years old. Maybe he grew up in a very Polish area of New York and didn't really speak English until much later because he didn't have to.

  12. This episode was much more enjoyable than last week. Colton/Tia not being featured is not a coincidence, hopefully the producers take note.

The editing of the days to make it seem like stuff was happening in a certain order was especially jarring in this episode since Jenna and Krystal wore such unique looking outfits. It really woozled me.

We got some great visual gags this week. First, with Leo thrashing about the pool and Jordan (of all people) incredulously asking what the hell was going on. Then, Benoit chucking the football into the ocean not once, but twice, in frustration (note: in Canadian Football you only get three downs, so after those two incomplete passes Benoit is forced to punt -- no more chances for you).

Leo is absolute piece of crap, but I think it's all been said in the previous posts. My only question: How the hell did he keep it together on The Bachelorette? He actually seemed like a cool dude there.

The cheese convo at the end was funny and reinforced the idea that Colton is the absolute whitest dude ever.

It would have seemed more sincere if he had done it the next day. Waiting up ALL ALONE to kibosh the end of her date with Benoit was a dick move.

That being said, Benoit belongs with Annaliese. They both reek of desperation.

This a good argument. However, I can also reasonably see Jordan taking that long to truly realize that he needed to apologize. He did want to talk to Jenna before her date but never got a chance.

Very much agree with you re: Benoit. He frames it as being passionate, but it's just desperation. I think his "European" sensibilities (if that's the word?) make that more believable, but as Jordan and Joe were discussing he's French-Canadian, so does it really count? ;)

Who asked Kevin out? I don't remember that.

He seems like a cool guy and he and Astrid have a nice, relaxed vibe together. That seems like the best way to approach BiP if you're not a crazy drama queen, just find someone cool that you like and give each other roses while you ride out your free beach vacation.

Jubilee pulled him aside when she first came on and Kevin told her up front that he's exploring things with Astrid so he wouldn't think it right to accept the date of Jubilee did pick him. So technically he didn't refuse an offered date, but he basically did/would have.

  15. Regarding Jordan's beach apology, I thought it was pretty good and sincere (especially compared to his rose ceremony apology). The one part I didn't like was the "What's a guy gotta do?" line. Made it seem like Jenna had to pick him because he was apologizing.

Also, can't believe I forgot to comment on Raven's "it girl" statement. What a stupid high school mentality these people have. I'm thinking the insular, tiny world of Bachelor Nation makes these people act like they're teenagers.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to touch on! Joe's appeal really is his innocence and purity. He is untouched by this awful franchise. The less he talks, the better. The general rule of the more we see someone the less we like them is very true on this show. I do think Joe is a stand up guy, and that's why everyone (including the dudes on the show) likes him, but I want him to keep his untouched aura.

He's also a firefighter, so, in the real world, he actually has a good job.

Kevin seems like a chill, reasonable guy. I don't think I'd hang out with many of the guys from the franchise, but Kevin could be in my secondary friend group. I'd love to have Jordan in my tertiary friend group.

  17. I guess I'll start with Leo. I know who Leo is, I have met many Leos. Leo thinks that it is his right to do what he wants, and not only that, it is natural for him to do what he wants because he is top of the food chain. No one has commented on when Leo and Kendall were talking and Leo said "Yeah it would bother me if you made out with... Grocery Store Joe." Leo didn't mention Joe because Kendall told Leo about them, Leo didn't randomly pick Joe, Leo picked Joe as an example because he looks down on Joe as a soft spoken, non-confrontational, easy going guy. Leo can't fathom how any female would be attracted to a Joe.

This leads me to Leo's infamous "I'm an alpha so I don't like seeing you with other dudes but I can mack on chicks" conversation with Kendall. Enough has been said about that, but what about Kendall's response? "Oh, yeah, I get that." Do you? Or do you just think Leo is hot? If it was some unattractive guy she'd have said "That's very unfair, toxic, and misogynistic." It's similar to what Jenna said about Benoit's failed engagement, which she said showed that Benoit is open to commitment. Again, if she found Benoit ugly she'd have said something like "He's not ready, doesn't take things seriously, etc."

Kendall was making up the most bullshit post hoc explanations for her attraction to Leo, trying to convince herself that they're more compatible. Look, you and Joe aren't a great match, but at least admit to yourself that you just want to get into Leo's pants. Kendall also did a very poor job, generally, in communicating with the guys. First, when Leo asked her about connections, you could almost see the gears turning in her head as to how she could not mention Joe because if she did then maybe Leo wouldn't be interested. Then, when she was talking to Joe after the date, she told Joe that maybe he should be putting himself out there. You could tell that she didn't even really believe herself. Anyway, I really don't think Kendall and Joe are a match so if all of this leads to them realizing that then good on them.

Finally, I chuckled a bit when Leo asked Chelsea if she'd go out in the rain with him. Dude, she'd rob a bank if you asked her.

Colton and Tia, I was just on my phone the entire time. I don't care.

Jenna and Benoit, I also don't care. This was one of the most boring episodes in Bachelor franchise history.

  18. To highlight a point I made in my previous post:

Why do the people on the show act so appreciative of the gifts that others got them? Do they seriously not realize that the gifts are given by the production team/sponsors? Not only that, I'm pretty certain that 95% of the time the ideas themselves are concocted by the producers, too.  The big dog, the the food, etc. One of the more egregious examples was when Rachel "gave" Bryan the watch. He was so surprised that he was getting one (it could not have been more painfully obvious he would get to keep it) and then he was so appreciative to Rachel, as if it were her idea and she used her own money to buy it when it was also painfully obvious that the watch company was doing it for goodwill/advertising (joke's on you, watch company, because I forget who you are).

  19. Colton was basically guilted into going for Tia. Bibianna's reasoning for Colton to go after her was that Tia loves him so much. This is so obviously a terrible reason, but the sad part is that I actually think Bibianna believes it's a good reason. These people are so desperate to find someone that if someone likes them, they will go after them (except Colton, until you start guilting him). As Annaliese said, they just want someone kind and who adores them. Yeesh, with standards so low, why do they have to come on a TV show to find someone?

I will reiterate what I said in a previous post: Tia is unattractive in every way possible. When she was crying and saying through the tears "I just want him to pick me!", Ms. Diego had had enough and was pushed to say out loud "God, Tia, you're so pathetic." Small sign that I have indeed, found My Person™. Also, "use your tongue"? Seriously? If a girl said that to me I'd stop kissing her and wonder what the hell I was thinking.

Final thought on the Colton-Tia thing; If I was on the beach with Colton I would ask him "If Becca came down right now and said 'I broke up with Garrett because I realized it is you that I want', would you go with her or choose Tia?" I'd bet my student loans that he would drop Tia in a second for Becca. To me, that means he shouldn't be with her (or anyone, unless he's genuinely just trying to have fun with them and is clear about it).

Ok, now that I've bashed Tia, I have to turn to Chris. This guy is such a weiner. I don't know how any self respecting woman goes for him. The way he was talking to Tia was borderline psychopathic. First, when he was talking to Tia, he was straight up gaslighting her in an attempt to keep her. Then, when Krystal joined, he straight up lied to Tia in an attempt to keep Krystal. He is such a shitty teenage boy.

I don't hate Jordan or his actions. While I do agree that he shouldn't have told those girls to "Shut the f*** up", that is basically what those girls should have done. Jordan is constantly picked on, despite not going out of his way to be rude, finds a woman who he is absolutely infatuated with where things are going great, and then David, a character whose sole purpose is to ruin Jordan's experience (which dates back to The Bachelorette) is given ammunition by the producers to do just that. I would absolutely snap if I was him. I'd be more upset at the producers, quite honestly, because it's obvious David didn't actually get her the dog. But I'd be mad at everyone for all the constant snickering and comments. He could have handled it much better, but I have a lot of sympathy for him.

I don;t understand why the guys weren't falling over themselves for Jacqueline. She is far and away the most attractive one there (aside from Kendall) and she seems interesting. Too bad her and Wills didn't cross paths.

I'm not surprised Kenny picked Annaliese (though I don't actually get it). I thought you could tell that he liked her the most of the three girls he kissed based on their interactions. Glad that John picked Jubilee. Their connection seemed more natural than his with Caroline; plus, I don't like Caroline, who talks like a 20 year old that just can't adult today.

  21. Tia is absolutely infuriating. I don't know why any guy would be into her. She's unattractive in every way imaginable.

I didn't really like Colton on Becca's season but they're really giving him the gears, eh? Guy still has done nothing wrong. Sure, I do think he's keeping Tia in his back pocket, but he's been pretty transparent about it and it's up to Tia to make a decision. It's so pathetic to see that if Colton showed her the slightest bit of interest that she would drop whatever guy she was with just for the chance.

Becca coming on is ridiculous. The producers are wildly out of touch. Many people are saying this is a Bachelor edit for Colton. I'm not so sure I agree, but then again they did humiliate Becca before making her the Bachelorette.

I know it's purely producer driven, but it really rankled me that Becca decided to go up to talk to Colton. She should have asked one of the guys if he was cool with it, first.

  23. I'm a straight male but I'll give ranking the guys a shot. Re: Connor, he wasn't on episode 1, was he? Once he gets on he'll probably be near the top of the list.

    1. Wills

    2. Joe

    3. Jordan

    4. Bearded Eric

    5. David

    6. Colton

    7. John

    8. Beardless Eric

    9. Kenny

    10. Chris

    11. Nick

    12. Kevin

Again, I feel bad rating Kevin at the bottom because I think he's one of the coolest guys there. It's kinda hard for me because I don't really have a type e.g. I'm sure the vast majority of girls would clearly take Colton over John, but my girlfriend (though she hasn't stated it) would almost certainly be more physically attracted to John because he's all angles while Colton is a fridge. Speaking of Colton, a lot of my female friends comment on how attractive he is, but I can't imagine how they get past his baby face. And when I say baby face I don't mean young looking, I mean literal baby.

I agree that this is an underwhelming group. But then again, I think the girls are an underwhelming group, so it's probably good for match ups.
