I loved this episode but was so sad that Liz will lose her job and her friends at the taskforce, espcially the budding "thing" that was starting to bloom with Ressler. I felt so badly for him at the end when he posted her picture on the glass wall of perps as "Rocket Man" played. That was just a great scene. And, when Liz laid her head on Red's shoulder, I was relieved knowing that she's safe with him and he'll take care of her while she endures this crap. Red kissing Dembe goodbye puzzled me as I don't understand why Dembe isn't going to stay with Red and Liz? I thought Dembe stayed with Red through thick and thin??
As for Tom, I am not a fan. But he has grown on me and I can deal with him being around, I just want him away from Liz as I can't get past his abuse of her (and she of him) and him calling her a bitch.
I hope that Ressler and Liz will still have clandestine meet-ups and whatever was starting with them will continue. And, I hope Hudson the dog ends up with Ressler while Liz is gone.
I enjoyed Megan's acting and think she is doing a great job. She's holding her own quite well now. S3 should be quite interesting.
I still am a bit conused as to whether or not Red is her father or not. She claims she shot her real father, but I wonder if her memories are still jumbled up.

@Saber, I am a huge fan of Liz and Ressler and really want them to hook up, but, I too would be thrilled if Ressler turned out to be Red's son and Lizzie fit into Red's life in a different way but he still felt paternal towards her as well. This would be so awesome and would be such a major twist/surprise.
Lets see, they share the same blood type, are both huge alphas, are smart and witty. It could work.
Also, didn't you see the joy on Lizzie's face when she saw what Ress had done for her with the whole chinese dinner thing? not trying to be argumentative, but that was pretty clear. She never smiles, she's unhappy, she wears bland colors to show the lack of joy in her life, then, she has dinner with him, gives him a megawatt smile with her eyes shining and she's wearing that red scarf. To me, it all symbolizes kind of rebirth for her. She's seeing him in a different light and me thinks he's going to rock her world.

I figured this thread needs some bumping, especially after the events that unfolded in the Longievity Initiative. Ressler has come so far and has fought off his demons with the pain pill addiction, coming to grips with the death of Audrey getting comfortable and in tune with Liz.
When he brought in the birthday dinner for her in the Longievity Initiative, my heart melted even more. We got to see him laugh and smile and be relaxed in a non work setting (even if they were eating in their office.) He has this enourmous sweet and tender side that we rarely get to see but is balanced with his no nonsense, ass kicking side. The look of pure joy and emotion that she gave him spoke volumes of where these two are headed.
It's my hope that we'll see him get closer to Red as well, as anytime they work together and things go down, it's just made of win. Ressler has been relegated to back burner since all of the Tom drama has transpired. I get it that Tom and his issues need to be resolved, but I hope Ressler makes his move and shows Liz that she can have a career, be in a loving relationship, have a family and work on the task force (with him at her side.) I also hope Red is on board with Lizzie having a smart, confident, loyal partner as the love of her life as well. The three of them can run the freaking world if they want. And, if he were to dump the FBI and work for Red at a later point that would be so much fun.
So, just wanted to bump this thread and show my appreciation for all things Ressler.

I loved this episode. I was thrilled to get some Keenler and loved it that Ressler came through for Liz's B-day. The two of them have been through some serious shiz together and the fact that they're taking it slow is awesome. I can see them get closer and closer. He's kind of an anchor for her and they seem to gel nicely. She needs to get over that creepy Tom, which I'm sure she will now that Ressler is making some moves, I mean, when it comes to him, it's like "Tom who? oh, yeah, that creep.."
I loved the look she gave him when she ralized what he had in the box (am I bad for LOL, when my husband said he wondered if it was "dick-in-the-box" from Lonely Island.) Her eyes were shining and the look was pure joy. THAT is what chemistry is all about and that look is going to be hard to give to anyone but Ress from this point.
I also am so glad her Dog hasn't been killed by psycho Tom, but I fear that Mr. Vargas may pay her a visit if she leaves doggie unattended in the crappy motel room.
Can't wait for more Keenler.

Jack Kerouac: You really don't see a huge improvement from season 1? I'm not trying to be snotty, just have discourse, but I really, honestly don't see what you're saying. She's fine. I also wonder if she has been directed to somehow play naieve/inexperienced and at other times play super confident/almost bitchy/violent. Perhaps that is why people are reacting the way they do? I don't know, I just feel like she's doing fine and isn't standing out as horrible. This will sound critical, but the one who I really "don't get" is Kaley Cuoco on The Big Bang Theory. She seems to be pretty bad/stiff etc. Do you think Megan is like her (better or worse?)

Well, I for one am enjoying Megan's performance. She' grown just as her character has. She is, after all, a fairly new actress. So, how do they all get their start? they get hired on some show like Megan was. Who cares if her family has money. Look at Will Smith's kids and the crap they do because of who their Dad is. Also some women do the whole casting couch thing to get a role, they all get in somehow so Megan is no different. She did study acting in college, so let her gain some experience and enjoy her first starring role. I think she's doing a great job. Her hair is fine, she's doing fine and is able to benefit from working with all the other talented people on TBL.

Hi, Huge Ressler fan here, and I admit that I don't know what "worrying about CTE for Ressler" means. What is CTE?
Love me some Ressler. It bugs me that he's always getting shot and kidnapped. I hope he'll get his chance to open a can of whoop-ass on Tom.

Not sure about this show yet. I've watched five or six episodes and enjoy Tea Leoni's potrtrayal of SOS. I read some place else that a lot of people feel this show is written to parallel Hillary Clinton. I don't see it. I agree with other posters that the Daisy/Matt thing is super annoying and needs to go by the wayside. As for Stevie, I'm hoping she'll blossom and grow into someone special. I see a bit of a spark with she and Blake and wonder where that could go (providing he's not gay.) He seems to dig her. Love Tim Daly's character and unlike most, I like the NSA stub story. He plays a likeable character and caring family man. I hope he stays that way. The only thing that slightly bugs me, but I can deal, and it isn't her fault, is Tea's voice. It makes me want to repeatedly clear my throat.

Love Megan as Lizzie. She's doing fine. So glad that most people support her. I don't care for Ron Perlman, but, he'll do fine I'm sure.

How come Lizzie wasn'y bitching out Ressler about his drug problem ? That seems to have been completely forgotten, and will probably never be mentioned again in the back half of the season.
I wondered about the same thing. Apparently he tossed the pills down the sink and that's the end of that. We shouldn't worry that a week earlier he broke his own thumb with a car door...Lizzie has so much going on, she doens't have time to nag him any longer. Ressler is just that strong that he'll kick it on his own. I hope we do get more on this. I was really, really hoping for a "Mr. Kaplan rehab" for Ressler. That would have been SO much fun. Love me some Ressler.
Something that really bugs me though is the total glossing over of what transpired between Ressler and Red. That whole sequence was one of the best moments of the entire show and I cannot believe that they're just treating it as a one-off event never to be addressed again. Those two shared an incredibly intimate and intense time together, during which Ressler was brought back from the brink of death by a master criminal who jerry-rigged a blood transfusion to give his own blood! How could that not change their relationship, especially for Ressler? The best parts of this show for me has always been outside of this week's big criminal, i.e., Ressler and Red musing as they're about to die;
I'm in total agreement with this! There should be a bond between them that is growing, not fading. There should also be much more of a bond with Ressler and Liz (at least the show is very slowly addressing this) but the Red/Ressler stuff was so compelling and so poignant it made me long for more of the two of them as well. These scenes are indeed the best part of the show. I also kind of hoped Ressler and Mr. Kaplan would have some scenes with the little issue of his drug addiction.
Fulcrum? Anyone else having Chuck flashbacks?If they want me to enjoy this more I think they should import a few of Chuck's characters. I bet General Beckman can hold her own against Red.
Oh my, oh my how I miss "Chuck." I do admit that I keep expecting Col. Casey to show up on TBL. That would be so much fun to bring those characters into this show. Silly, but fun. Wasn't there talk about the possibility of a Chuck movie? I would think now would be the time for that. Sigh...miss that show...

Is Eggold still a series regular? If so I'm assuming he'll be back. I hope so. I find the back and forth between him and Liz a hundred times more interesting then any of the Liz/Ressler anvils they're dropping.
Glad you're speaking for yourself as those anvils are hot, hot, hot and Liz/Ressler would be made of awesome. They spark as they get closer and closer.

While I enjoyed this episode, I had one big eye roll. Ressler has been given an IV sedative, and needs to be helped out of the hospital by Keene. They're rescued in the nick of time by Samar, and head over to the hotel shortly afterward for the final rescue. Out of the three of them, why the hell does RESSLER end up driving?
Xina, I was thinking exactly the same thing about Ressler. Why was he driving!!! I normally like it when he drives cause he looks all NASCAR when he does, but really, the two gals would be like..."Hell, No! get in the back and lay down!"
That was a truly screwed up scene and the other one (also involving my dear Ressler,) was the craptastic bathroom of his? W.T.F.?? Why can't he have a nice bathroom? his apartment was okay when we saw it but that god awful bathroom is probably part of the reason he's on the drugs!

The scene with Ressler and Liz propped on the bumper of the ambulance reminded me of almost the exact scene in The Stewmaker just with the roles reversed (right down to the crappy blue blanket that was around Liz's shoulders in Stewmaker and then around Resslers in Mombassa Cartel) But I agree with the above poster, OTTIS, it seemed awkward on Liz's part. You'd think there would be more (for the lack of a better word) cuddling if he had just been freaking HUNTED and had his ear pierced with some shit and his thumb is all screwed up. You'd think she'd be all over him (in a protective way) barking at anyone who messes with him. The scene was okay, but it had much more potential.
I disagree with OTTIS in that I do not at all get the feeling that Diego and Megan dislike each other. They seem very fond of each other and kind of playful. They tweet to each other and you don't get any snooty, negative vibe from either. I still feel badly that I read somewhere that Spader was unkind and critical to her as a young actress. At least she's doing well and holding her own now and all that drama is hopefully over.
Here's to hoping we'll see much more Keenler. I also can't wait to see more of Diego. The whole episode could have been about him for all I care.
Oh, one last question for everyone: It mentioned in the teasers for this episode that Ressler picks up a bad habit. Does the refer to him intentionally hurting himself to score drugs? if so, I hope we won't see anymore self harm from him. I want my old ass-kicking, stoic but loveable, bad ass Ressler back. And, last thought, if he's going to go full-on tweaker, at least let him ride a Harley and get a few crappy tattoos.

Okay, my big question is where was the dog? When she went back to her hotel at the end of the day, the dog should have been front and center welcoming her back. Perhaps Berlin has dognapped the dog and that's why she wants to find him.... Free the dog!
I totally agree about the dog!! People are still whining about Megan Boone's acting, which IMO, is just fine, thank you, while the freaking writers dish out craptastic episodes that have the dog/don't have the dog/have a different breed of dog and can't get the continuity right if they were hit in the face with it. Lizzie is a pick-pocket, bad ass, vulnerable, newbie agent who is divorced, paranoid, confident, competitive, passive and is almost killed in just about every episode and is written all over the place, yet Megan grows and gets better and better. Ressler is written as a hard-ass, dedicated guy who works his way up the food chain and then starts popping pills? He's had not one, not two, but three people bleed all over his Armani suits, of which two died! and the writers keep it coming and step-up their game with the tampon in the gut to stop the bleeding scene..not stellar writing yet Klattenhoff manages to sell that shit and sell it right and proper. All actors, including "tilt-my-head-and-deliver-some-smarmy-line-in-the-same-exact-manner-every-episode-ad-nauseum" Spader (whom I do love even if he's getting pudgy, bald, and predictable,) have to get their experience in some manner. Why is it such a crime that Megan is a new actress and is gaining experience on this show?
I don't understand why there isn't more of an uproar and attention placed on the hideous writing and phone-it-in scenes from Spader that are getting boring. I get that he's the lead, but he is starting to get so predictable...sigh.......this all sounds so negative. I'm just going to enjoy the show and accept that nobody is perfect and this is better than most crap that's on TV.

I was responding to NorCalNut's post...that made me laugh out loud. I thought that post was using "whippersnapper" in a funny way to describe "younger, (so-called) hipper" folks who were using a term, unsub, that they were unfamiliar w/, but were hearing on this show. When I was young my great grandmother would use "whippersnapper", to talk about young folks, and all their "new fangled gadgets". Makes me laugh just remembering it/her. So I was applauding the descriptive "whippersnapper", and then offering my two cents on when I first heard the word unsub used regularly.
Yep, you pretty much nailed it. That's what I was trying for. Young hipsters, using words that I know nothing about. And, the funny thing is I still don't get the connection to what "Unub" RealityGal was referring to in regard to the show? Here is her quote that I still am confused by:

All of this reminds me of the song "Communication Breakdown" by Led Zeppelin. Again, most of the young whippersnappers here probably don't even know who they are, but the song is pretty much what we've got going on here thanks to me and my not being able to comprehend what unsub shit the show is trying to pull? Also, what prompted all of this fun discussion in the first place is my love for all things Ressler and Keenler. This oldster is off to bed now. Nighty Night Whippersnappers!

Well, you young whippersnappers sure use some funny terminiology. I have no clue what "Unsub" shit that may possibly happen refers to. I don't even know what "unsub" means (unsubstantiated rumours?) Please do share? :)

We did get Ressler with his shirt off, as he was standing by his bathroom sink pondering his bottle of oxy. However, we didn't get enough. As far as I'm concerned, he could just go about his merry way at work, at home, driving, etc. with his shirt off.

Megan's hair is adorable and she's doing a great job in season 2! Still want more and more and more Ressler! Hope he isn't going to become an oxy addict. I really want to see more Red/Ressler moments this season. They're golden together. I kind of also wish that all the hype over Lizzie possibly being Reds daughter would actually be Ressler turning out to somehow be Red's long lost son instead. Of course I also am digging the Ressler/Lizzie interaction. She studies him with those knowing eyes like she can see right through him. It's only a matter of time before she realizes he's struggling with pills. Once his little secret is discovered, I can totally see Lizzie and/or Red swooping in and dragging his ass off in the private jet to some swanky rehab place in the Swiss Alps.

My alternate theory (also called wishing); Donny is actually Red's son!
This is my hope as well. They do have the same blood type afterall... But, if he is Lizzie's Dad or surrogate father figure, I'd like to see Ressler get the same treatment. Ressler was initially closed off to Red and is slowly coming around. Perhaps Red sees that Ressler is already a protector of sorts for Lizzie and would be fine with them slowly getting together. They both have sufferred so much and need to heal, but, I could totally see them growing together. I also wouldn't mind if both of them dump the FBI all together and just work with/for Red kind of like Dembe does.

Best things for me:
-The dog is back! (even if they couldn't get the right breed, at least they tried.) I always wondered what became of it. I think, at this point, that Ressler could use a canine companion more than Lizzie. Doggie should go live with Ressler and keep him calm and off the pills!
-Aram has more to do (love him.) Glad he's playing a bigger part.
-Loved all of the music. It makes each episode all the more fun to see what will pop up.
Worst things about it:
-Ressler is going to pop pills? Really? He's a tough, principled man. This seems out of character. But, Diego will do it justice so that's a good thing. I'm more worried about his anger issues. He's got a lot churning around inside. Hope he can get it all out.
-Berline is starting to annoy me. Weird character, hard to understand, don't know if I care. Just want him to die.
-Hope Tom is not stalking Liz. Tom just needs to be gone with Berlin. Go away already. Boring....
-Massod Agent Lady....meh....cliche and a poor replacement for Meera (WHY did she have to go?)
-Cooper is back...meh...who cares.....
What I really want to see:
-If they do go the druggie route with Ressler, I want him to go all Sons of Anarchy and get a ton of tattoos and ride a Harley around in his off time. He can get an Audrey tattoo, and one of Mako Tanida's severed head and Lizzie as the Virgin Mary. He could hide it all under his bad ass Hugo Boss suits. But, the Harley part could work for me and others..just saying...He also needs to help LIz celebrate her divorce and her haircut.

Megan's looking great! I loved her hair in season 2/ep 1! It's so cute and now people can stop whining about it. She also did a great job acting. I don't think she's wooden at all. I'm also so glad they showed her dog, even if it's not the same one (sad that they couldn't get that part right.) I always wondered what became of it. Now I find myself worrying about the gross head in the box that Ressler is somehow hiding. Where is the head? The mysterious dog shows up but now the head is just gone and hasn't been dealt with. Ugh....it's these weird little things that get to me.

I love the Star Trek parallel. Chandler is Picard/Janeway, Slattery is Riker/Chakotay, Whiny Navy Seal guy is Wesley Crusher, Dr. Scott is Dr. Crusher etc. etc. It would be fun if Chandler just starts calling Slattery "Number One" and asking him to come to his ready room for discussions. I really need to learn the names of the crew....I like this show but it's a bit stiff right now. I'm hoping we'll learn more about the characters and their personalities (especially Slattery's..yum!) Glad it's coming back for a second year.
One last question: Up thread someone answered my question about Chandler being a Commander, not a Captain. Does that mean he and Slattery are the same rank?

Random questions/thoughts:
-Is Chandler's rank a Captain or a Commander and if Chandler is a Commander is he equal in rank to Slattery?
-Why did they take the mercenary guy onto the ship with them? He's so creepy and stalkerish with Dr. Scott (each time I hear her name I think of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.) I don't care for his character at all and he gives me the creeps. Were they somehow able to check his background or did they just blindly trust him?
-So, in non military speak, what was the punishment for the girlfriend of the sick SEAL? I didn't
understand that at all.
-Am I the only one who felt bad for the monkeys. They were so cute and it was so sad to see them bleeding out from the disease. Sniff...
-Why wouldn't Slattery eat his meal (did he not like the cook...I didn't catch that part)
-The show, so far, is nothing like the book. Some parts of the book will be awfully weird if they go there (repopulating planet and sharing a submarine with russians...ugh...)
-Cannot stand: Creepy Mercenary Stalker dude and Creepy British Scientist/Traitor with bad teeth and whiny Navy Seal/Dengue Fever dude (annoying) In "El Toro" when he was standing next to Slattery he looked like Justin Beiber he was so tiny and non Seal'ish. Just saying...
-What does the crew do for fun? It's so serious, don't they need some time to do something besides meet in the galley at the drink machine?

Calipiano81, thanks for the clarification. Things got a bit too messy for me to sort it all out. I kind of figuerd that he isn't her Father, but now, I can't understand what he is to her?
I'm with Saber5055 and really, really hope he turns out to be Resslers father.
I'm also confused in that it's been all about the fulcrum for so long, and now that Red's shared it with the select journalists, is it out of play now and they'll just do their respective pieces on it and publish the results to shake up the cabal?
And since somebody acknowledged me, I have one last question: Is Reven (can't remember her last name,) to be trusted? She's placed Ressler in charge and seems to trust him, but, is she part of the cabal?
