  1. I'd like to point out that she said she was the oldest of 12 children. Can you imagine that she has no relationship with 11 siblings! This must be a record, and I don't mean for this show, I mean like a World Record for anyone with siblings, to be estranged from 11 siblings. You'd think at least one would still speak to her.

She has no one because she did it all to herself. Her toxic personality, people run

Right, but none of that is a law binding on David. He's a customer, not an operator. Heaven help people like David who think that clicking "agree" on some foreign web site's terms of service could subject them to legal consequences from the United States government. Unless the web site is for accessing child porn, that cannot be the case. No wonder there are billions to be made scamming the foolish.

I think he  confused the IMBRA on the website and the Terms of Service of the company. The TOS I am sure states that you are agreeing not to contact the person off the website. It's like on ebay, you agree not to sell the buyer anything else off their website or conduct transaction privately or they don't get their fee and you are violating eBay terms of service. Or I used to dogsit for DogVacay and both myself and the client had to agree to the TOS that we would not leave the website if we met through the website. I was not supposed to take them as my private client. However, I did do this a few times- I got more money and the client paid less- cut out the middle man. I broke the TOS. I think they could have sued me. Could I have been arrested, was I breaking the law? No,

David I am sure it confusing this TOS with the IMBRA law. Moron.

  3. Lana and David: I feel like the production played us. I felt all along that Lana was going to show up, because they were trying SO Hard to make her be an obvious catfish. I think it was a script. He didn't go 5 times to Ukraine. I think he went ONCE. They made up at least the first 3 trips, and came up with ridiculous excuses as to why she didn't meet him those 3 times. If this were true he would not have gone a  4th and 5th time. He wouldn't have gone the 3rd time.

Maybe he did go the 4th and 5th time, but I don't see how TLC would have wanted to spring for 2 trips overseas. But I am not sure about that because it seemed maybe different weather on the 5th trip.

I just feel so so so annoyed that they played the audience like this. I KNEW she was going to show because they just worked so so so hard with these crazy stories and crazy excuses and to make Dave look like a fool-- to make us think this can't be a real person and then they would spring her on us.

Maybe he did see her on video chat. But they didn't let us in on that. He didn't go there 3 times though and not see her. NO ONE would go 5 times to see someone, not even someone as deranged as David. They let Lana in on it as well, told her to pretend she gave the wrong address, pretend he came 4 other times,  the whole thing was 100% staged.

Also I usually don't buy into "staged" theories that I read here. I usually believe everything is real. But this one just screamed phony.

  4. Oh God this was horrible. Both of them: my kids are my priority, I need to be there for my kids.

The thing is, when you are dead from obesity related diseases, you are not there for your kids. Cynthia and Dottie, Dr. Now explained you are on your way back to being 600 pounds. Being there for your kids doesn't mean you have to stuff your face. You are NOT at a healthy weight now at all. Cynthia thinks she is skinny? and now she is steadily gaining. But the kids!

Dottie, if she says one more time "Landon is my priority" UGH! again you can't stick to the diet because he is your priority? She uses him for her excuses. If the husband was drinking and getting mean, he needs to dry out. I think that whole leaving him thing was for the cameras. I think as soon as the cameras are gone she will go back to him.

That poor sweet kid. Hopeless episode. Let's not see either one of the again, please, I beg you.

It made me laugh how Timmy kept chiming in at EVERY dr's visits, trying so hard to say ANYTHING so that Dr. Now would pat him on the head for (because he was being so supportative, etc.) and Dr. Now kept shutting him down. He sounded like a kid who knows he did something he shouldn't have and is trying to make himself look good to his mom.

Alicia is very pretty- her face is really lovely. He was trying to keep her fat because he knows that if she were a normal weight she would be extremely attractive and out of his league. It was so obvious.

I think Dr. Now gives them the 1,200 diet, knowing full well that NO ONE who has reached 600 pounds is really going to follow it.

I maintain that 2,400 calories a day (double his recommendation) would still result in a fairly good weight loss for people who are currently eating close to (or more than) 10,000 calories a day.

every once in a blue moon, we get someone who really does the 1200 to the letter. These few people who follow it lose much more than the goal. There was that black guy  with the nice gf who played the guitar with the pony tail, for example- sorry can't remember his name. He stuck to it and instead of 30 pound in one munt, he lost 50 pounds. Dr. Now knows this too, that his goal can be reached on 2000 a day or 1200 plus a few slip ups. So when they lose less than the goal he knows they are very much overeating. When they are supposed to lose 60 and they think Dr. Now is gonna be happy with 25 lost, well no because if you actually followed the diet you would have lost 80-100.

Some of them act like I would act like if told to lose 30 pounds in one month. A normal weight person can't lose 30 pounds in a month but a 600 pound person can easily lose that.

  7. I actually liked her at first. I thought here is something we NEVER see, a person with a job, who had a happy childhood, and was not fat as a kid, and doesn't have enablers. I was sure she would be a success.

I also thought that 1200 calories was not going to be enough for her because she was working 40 hours a week, not lying in bed or sitting in a recliner. It makes a huge difference! She would certainly be more hungry on 1200 calories on her feet 8 hours a day then a bed bound. She could have lost 30 pound a munt on 1600 calories a day. I wish Dr. Now though would have explained to her that she was still eating 4000 calories a day.

I know she was working full time but that means she had 2 days off a week. If she takes her daughter to the doctor and plays with her kid on one day, that left another whole day to shop and prep meals for the week. She could not be bothered. Yes she HAD to prepare meals and change her habit of getting food from a drive through. But it was possible and the sister said she would help.

Taking a break? Meaning going back to eating sugary food every night to help you cope. I wanted to strangle her by the end!

Totally.  It would be reasonable if Erika did those selfies that look nothing like the person in real life.  But these two have video chatted.   Erika is exactly that person.

The only other possibility that could explain what seems to be repulsion is if Erika has chronic halitosis and body odor is completely offensive.

That's why I've been leaning toward Stephanie thought she wanted a relationship with a woman but then realized she's not only NOT gay, she's NOT bi either.

And I know people don't want to be boxed in, but if you're not gay, how can you even be bi? Is it that you are really pansexual?  You fell in love with the person but would not normally be attracted to someone of the same sex?  I know I sound like a dumb hetereo, but if Steph says isn't gay, she gets there and seems to not want any sexual contact with Erika other than hand holding, it seems perfectly okay to question her sexuality and whether she really wants to be with a woman.

I don't think she is gay or knows yet if she is for sure. I think she saw this as an opportunity to promote herself and her youtube channel. I thought I would skip their segments for this reason, that it just seems like blatant self-promotion for both of them,  but actually I sort of like the storyline.

Here she has Aplastic Anemia, which is extremely serious, and it would be hard for her to do a lot of jobs well, but through her own efforts, has made a successful youtube channel. Well good for her for doing that.

I think she is in love with the Australian girl, but more on a platonic level. I don't think she realized until she got there that she didn't want to have sex with a female, although I do think she does love this girl. I believe the Australian girl is gay.

  9. Big Egg is just so entitled. When he said to Rose's dad "I didn't get much sleep because I was hot, so I want to take Rose on vacation". She didn't translate to her dad his comment "I was hot" . That really pissed me off. Boo hoo Ed you're hot. That was the first night in your life you ever spent without air conditioning, you poor thing! I feel really sorry for you.

  10. Plus at 475 pounds she didn't have any of the problems that people 150 pounds more have. Usually they cannot move well at all without getting out of breath. They are mostly bed bound, They have massive issues. They can't take a 4 hour car trip easily. They didn't even show her trip to Houston because she was fine. She could walk fine. You really see the difference that an extra 150 pounds makes. She was just hoping that she could get on the show for fame, get the surgery when some other clinic turned her down, and scam the show and Dr. Now into thinking she was over 600 pounds.

And she did the whole: I weighed 150 pounds at age 3 and I was happy. At 7 I was 250 pounds and my life was great, I ate with my dad. At 11 I was 300 pounds but then this horrible thing happened, my dad left,  so I turned to food. But THEN when I was 14 I was raped, so then I turned to food! And then my mom got sick and then I turned to food and I was 450 pounds at my high school graduation. But THEN my grandmother died, and that was so upsetting that I turned to food to cope and that;s when I got really fat

. Then she tells Dr. Now she lost 150 pounds when her grandmother died from depression? Such an obvious lie, from a known liar, to get on the show and get the surgery. HOW DID PRODUCTION NOW KNOW THIS? I  guess they did know all of this but thought she would be good for entertainment value.

I think of it as addiction in action. They may "love" food - but not in the way most people would think when they hear the phrase.

Someone who loves food can rhapsodize about the variety of tastes that they experience from a single bite of a favorite dish. They understand eating slowly and savoring the food. I know about those foodies, bless their hearts, because I've been trapped in social conversations where people waxed poetic, at length, about some specific pasta dish at an Italian restaurant they went to last week, or some dessert they had in Italy last year, or whatever. (Full disclosure: I'm not a foodie and I hate being subjected to foodie conversations and I never watch the food/cooking channels.)

Likewise, some people enjoy beer, wine, or hard liquors. As in, savoring the taste as they sip it. These alcohol connoisseurs aren't glugging down bottles of Mad Dog 20/20 while sitting on a gritty curb, or spending lost weekends at home with their stashes of beer, wine, or vodka, waking up sick on Monday morning with no memory of the past two days. Or sucking down six bottles of beer in a couple of hours at a bar.

I know a little about addiction, being a recovering drunk. I have also done some mindless eating, although it never took over my life. Whether it's heroin, speed, alcohol, gambling, sex, or food, someone who's in active addiction is no longer doing the activity primarily to feel good, but instead is doing it to avoid feeling bad. The classic example is the heroin addict who is literally physically sick if they go too long between hits. The next hit may bring some pleasure but more importantly it relieves pain/illness. Yes, I'm overgeneralizing, and I'm not a professional or trained in this field.

But I truly believe a few things. First, this show includes staged eating scenes. Not that the subjects of the show don't really eat like that, but like the shower scenes, the eating scenes are set up, especially in the beginning of the episodes. OTOH I believe that there are usually some un-staged scenes later in the episodes involving pathological food consumption. Like James K's famous fried rice.

I also believe that these folks say they love food and it makes them feel good and it's always there for them, but their "enjoyment" and "love" is more about relieving discomfort than the kind of joy that non-addicts experience from food.

So when someone with good intentions says, "don't they understand that they can just blanch those  veggies with a little seasoning and they will be tasty and enjoyable?" - IMO it's like someone saying, "Why spend fifty bucks on all those bottles of cheap rotgut when you could buy a nice bourbon and sip some good-tasting drinks?" We all get the answer to that: the person buying all the cheap rotgut needs such a quantity of booze that they can't afford the quality bourbon in those quantities. I think there's a similar dynamic with the folks on this show. Who, sadly, can't just quit the stuff of their addictive behavior because we've all got to eat. They're eating the way a drunk drinks, IMO. And it's not pretty in either case.

What you say about addiction is so true. My brother is an alcoholic and he is not drunk on 6 beers, it only brings him to feeling normal. It has no other effect. He needs 3  six-packs to start acting drunk.  He usually drinks to feel normal and  to feel not sick, not to get high.

There is also something in sugar and fat that makes people feel good that steamed vegetables with seasonings just does not accomplish, brain chemistry-wise.

I have a grocery delivery order scheduled for next week. I'm gonna go in right now and add a few packages of Toaster Strudel! I love those, I used to get them for nearly free when I was extreme couponing. They are so damn fattening!

That creepy smile this chick has! She think she cute!

  14. Wow, that clip from Catfishing! OMG

It made no sense to me she kept saying "I've been dieting before I got here so Dr. Now will see I'm serious" but then she NEVER said to him I started dieting already so you would see I'm serious. She claimed it fell off due to depression. That was just one of her many, many lies.

Why she was not screened better. She wasn't even fat enough for this show.  They have never taken a 475 pound person.

MATKAT -thanks for your input. I didn't know anything about Borderline Personality. Welcome to the forum. Jeez what made you finally post!

I did really enjoy Dr. Now being the first person ever to call her on her bullshit. When she said "my mother doesnt even talk to me like this"- maybe she should have!

  15. I see, this is how her family found out. The catfish reality shows. Then she wanted to be on my 600 pound life, but she didn't weigh 600 pounds so she lied to the show.

She also said she did nothing all day and the she lied to Dr. NOW and said she came after work! Lies just rolling off. But you can't lie to Dr. Now. The first person to ever call her out on her lies and she has a meltdown.

Good call on Lola diagnosing borderline personality. I'm not familiar but I googled it and it seems to fit

They are highly sensitive to the slightest criticism, therefore Dr. Now sent her over the edge.

I read that they're re-considering what is normal temperature. Harvard is now says it's closer to 97.5. So, you're probably OK. Also, it's been advised that you hold your breath for 10 seconds when you wake up, as an early indicator of any developing lung problems. I keep forgetting.

If you have covid your chest and/ or back will feel very hot to the touch. You don't even need a thermometer, you will feel hot as hell and feverish.

I would think the competition in the US for this type of (paying) audience would be just as tough, if not tougher, in the US. Plus, he lives so close to the beach he can go every morning. Who would give that up? (I really don't want to think he's just trying to evade child support or dodge his kid.)

Did production really set her up like this again? Very cruel to humiliate her twice in the exact same way.

She had a contract, they both did. They needed to get something on film.  She had no choice but to go to NY to meet him.

  19. Dr. Now was convinced Lisa was over feeding him on purpose. She is the one that ordered and brought him all the food. He tried to call Adult Protective Services on her but they told him this isn't a crime or reason for an action on their part.

I'm not sure why every one here is happy that she is free. She enjoyed the whole thing I think. If she didn't she would have made him follow the diet. He was bedridden. We KNOW a hospital controlled diet he could have lost 200 pounds in 6 months. She was the problem.
