Meghan's obsession with being "all American," and bringing up all the people in her family who served in the military during the ancestry segment, was weird. Whoever told her it was weird is correct. She's so strangely obsessed with her American heritage...

Agreed. The obsession with being all “American” echoed the rhetoric of white nationalists, to be honest. 🤔

I thought her words were good, but she delivered it with such anger, even the parts about her personal relationship with him.  It reminded me of the unexpected anger we have seen her display on the View.  I wonder if the whole flag thing last week, and probably other bts slights, had an impact on her and made her more angry.

She’s also getting a lot of negative attention from “conservatives” (I use that term in quotes because they are more “Trumpian” than “John McCain” conservative and unlike Fox News, I’d rather not treat the words “liberal” and “conservative” as scary words).  The person who threatened her on Twitter, was posting from a MAGA account.  Shes’s also getting pushback from verified “conservative” voices on Twitter.  Now that she is becoming a target on social media, in addition to the flag drama, I also wonder if her attitude toward Trump/people who still approve of Trump will change.

I imagine she’ll still have her disdain toward “liberals,” but after this can she still keep explaining the MAGA phenomenon?  Maybe she can explain it, but can she still keep asking the audience to try to empathize with this sort of normalized indecency?  I still feel she was partly playing a role on The View, as her behavior this year was drastically different than the pre-Fox News Meghan, so if she is playing this role, is it one she can keep playing?

Anyway, I thought she did a good job today and I respect the McCain family for using a difficult moment like this to demonstrate to the country what decency looks like again.

    Another gem.

The funny thing about watching this clip in 2018 is that now Meghan likes to say she grew up in the “Reagan era.” In 1988, Ronald Reagan helped four year old Meghan shape herself into a child republican.

Someone please create a thread next season for MMs misused words.  We need to keep a tally.

I also want a thread where we keep a tally of all the guests Whoopi tells “you can come back ANYTIME! COME BACK ANYTIME!” And also a thread that tallies the guests that Whoopi doesn’t say that to — these guests clearly are the ones Whoopi is either bored by or dislikes.

Interesting that Sherri did immediately respond to Meghan on Twitter to clarify her comments, but still Meghan didn’t acknowledge Sherri’s tweets and decided to classify them on air as if “Sherri isn’t a supporter of her fellow women!!!” Oh Meghster. You and your spinning.

Don't lose all hope just yet; remember that Jed also signed on for another season before she was booted for Meghan. So fingers crossed...

The Twitter spat with Soledad O'Brien is quite funny. Under Meghan's "grow up" response, every one is really giving it to her about how spoilt and entitled she (Meghan) is. On The View a few weeks back they were talking about how Twitter has changed its algorithm to hide the more critical and the nasty responses. The fact that they are all still front and centre on Meghan's post says a lot if so. She is of course furiously re-tweeting the few people who are supporting her.

Sounds like Meghan.  She also tends to block everyone who says anything even disagreeable with her — it doesn’t have to be mean.  Search “Meghan mccain blocked” on Twitter and you’ll see many users who have been blocked by Meghan EVERYDAY. Some users even say they didn’t @ Meghan, but she blocked them anyway because she clearly searches her name on Twitter.  #ToughChickBehavior

What arrogance to tell Andy Cohen “The View” is a “news show” now and is completely different than it was before.  I think Meghan is technically correct that ABC classifies it as a “news” show, but when Sherri was there they were interviewing just as many politicians as they are now.  It’s essentially the same format as when Sherri was there - the biggest difference is the cohosts.  Meghan’s response really does justify Sherri’s comments that Meghan needs to “lighten up.” Also if Meghan is going to play the “women can’t tell other women to lighten up card,” then she also, as a woman, shouldn’t tell other women like Sherri not to answer a question with their honest opinion.

It is kind of funny that Sherri has no problem answering the question so honestly, especially since she was on the show a week ago, and I’m sure she’ll return again a couple more times throughout the year.  She has no fear of Meghan.

But Sherri was at The View for this infamous segment where Joy was coined a “Christian hater” for laughing and joking with Sherri, so I don’t blame Sherri for her opinion at all.

  8. “ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES LIBERALS!!!” Meghan, do you not see this as a consequence? I thought she didn’t vote for Trump. Eye roll.

She loves throwing Joy around as this woman with super far out left wing beliefs. Go home, Arizona. Joy used to have her own show where she’d interview people of all walks of life—the scope of her guests was beyond liberal and conservative politicians.

Also, they need to cancel Meghan’s book club picks. We know she doesn’t read. It’s clear she watches cable news nonstop and simply echoes “analysis” she’s heard from right wing pundits on Fox and CNN. None of her thoughts are original.

MM said she "debates for a living." Does she have as second job? Seriously, WTF is she talking about?  I never thought I'd say this, but, Whoopi I love you!

Her job title keeps changing: political analyst, debater, GLAAD award winner, Mrs. Ben Domenech, the only conservative at the table, etc.

    Why?

Because according to Meghan, sending a wedding card is an act of bipartisan unity. If we follow Meghan’s advice, we can finally unify the “divided” country by simply sending her a wedding card! Wow!

  11. A bipartisan move according to Meghan: being a democrat and sending her a wedding card.

Let’s all send a group belated wedding card to Meghan’s dressing room to prove how bipartisan we are.

  12. Meghan is suddenly LOVING invoking Steve Scalise getting shot into discussions to show how unhinged all liberals are. Shouldn’t someone tell her to stop politicizing gun violence?!?! Not all gun owners are like the guy who shot Steve! Meghan wants to take away our guns!!!

She really is much more agenda-driven than ideological-driven. The “divide” talk is such #MeghanDisinformationTalk. What the panel failed to mention was that Russia was also targeting democrats with disinformation during the elections. The propaganda memes going around all echoed Meghan’s claim: “the democrats are divided! Don’t vote! Hillary is the same as a Republican! Vote Jill Stein - the lesser of two evils!”

  14.   “CAN I SAY SOMETHING?!?!?!?” *starts endlessly filibustering while reading off her note cards*

Imagine a day where Meghan isn’t allowed to look at her notes. Would she be forced to share her opinions? Or would she start writing her talking points all over her hands?

  15. I think Sarah engages in a lot of “both sides” journalism, which I see as problematic because it’s a whole other form of misinformation.  There is a difference between Don Jr’s meeting with the Russians and Fusion GPS’s research. If Sarah took the time to read an article in The New Yorker a couple of months ago, it’s pretty laid out that while the Clintons knew they were paying for opposition research, they didn’t know who was doing the research—in other words, there was a “curtain” between the two parties that allowed them both to act independently.  Also, Christopher Steele, who conducted the research, had been communicating with the FBI and he had worked with the FBI in the past.  There is a difference between standard opposition research and setting up meetings with the Kremlin.  I understand Sarah is trying to look “fair,” but to me it looks like she hasn’t done all her homework on the topic, and I think it’s a shame for people with a platform not to do all their homework because she’s kind of perpetuating a myth about the dossier to a large audience.

  16. (I was originally going to post this in the weekly thread, but I realized my post was getting way too off topic because I don’t think Meghan discussed this topic this week.)

Regarding Meghan’s decision not to have kids, I want someone to probe her on this matter; this decision sounds..... pro-choice-ish!!! However, we know there’s no way Meghan would take a position based on her “tribe.” Absolutely not. Meghan might as well have “Anti Tribal” tattooed down her arm.  Still though, I’ve written a script to probe Meghan on this matter for when The View decides to invite me on (LOL):

“But Meghan, you’ve told us how Pro-Life you are.... so this decision not to have kids means one of two things: either you physically can’t have kids (absolutely no judgement whatsoever), or I will have to assume you and your new husband must not be intimate, which is why you’re not concerned about ‘accidents’ (excuse me, ‘beautiful human lives’).  Of course there’s no way you’d be taking contraceptives and there’s no way your husband would be using protection; that would mean you’re preventing even the possibility of a sperm and egg turning into a life.

Meghan, it is my understanding you were enrolled in an all-girls Catholic high school growing up. Indeed, there’s a strong chance that I too attended Catholic School. Based on this shared experience, I will infer you’ve also taken many ‘Respect for Life’ workshops/classes in your past schooling; this means you know that the Catholic Church teaches students that contraception is sinful and does not align with ‘Pro Life values‘ since sex is for one purpose: creating new life (that’s why many churches are against gay marriage, Meghan).

Of course, Meghan, there are many people who call themselves Pro Life simply because they would never have an abortion. I have no opinion of how people label themselves, Meghan, but since you are so passionate about the “March For Life” (by the way, have you ever actually attended this?) — so much that you stand up for ‘Pro Life’ women who feel excluded from the devisive “Women’s March” — do you realize that a big aspect of the ‘Pro Life’ movement is limiting access to birth control? Do you think access to birth control infringes upon your “Conservative Christian” (because IDK her religion, but this is how she identifies herself on the view) liberties, Meghan?  I know you implied you were more ‘Pro Life’ than Sunny, because when Sunny said she was Pro Life, you insinuated that Sunny doesn’t truly understand the value of life like you do because she’s ‘just a liberal.’

Now that you’ve indicted you’re not sure you want kids, I think it’s fair to ask you... Meghan, are you are benefiting from a pro choice policy? You know the idea that teachers need guns to kill bad guys with guns also goes against your ‘pro life’ values, don’t you Meghan?  Care to clarify?  Since Ana strayed away from some republican policy and supported DACA kids, you exclaimed once: WHY DO YOU EVEN CALL YOURSELF REPUBLICAN ANYMORE??? So, Meghan, if you have taken contraception, is this the point where we all collectively shout, ‘OMG WHY DO YOU EVEN CALL YOURSELF PROLIFE ANYMORE!!! YOU’RE JUST A LIBERAL!!’

Please also clarify: What is the difference between ‘just a liberal’ Pro Life woman vs. a ‘Patriot Red State Conservative Freedom Fighting Tough Chick with a gun’ Pro Life woman?”

**Joy, Whoopi, and Sunny are welcome to use/tweek this script on The View.  Anyone whose previously been fired for plagiarism, however, may not use it.

On the topic of gay marriage: Meghan says "I was in favor of gay marriage before Barack Obama, before Hillary Clinton, blahblah"  (like Meghan held some political office where her opinion mattered)

On the topic of silly things that kids get upset about : Meghan says "I don't have kids, I don't have a story to add!"

Guess what, Meghan?  Neither of these stories are ABOUT YOU.  Stop trying to make everything about YOU.

Exactly lol.  What regular person talks about gay marriage starting their commentary with “I’ve been pro gay marriage before it was cool I came out for gay marriage before Obama!”  Like what?  Meghan everything about you sounds out of touch with anyone who hasn’t grown up reading talking points before “Goodnight Moon.”

  18. Why are we supposed to care that Meghan “came out” for gay marriage before Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden? Oh good for you, Meghan!  Here is your prize!

You care so much about gay couples that I’m sure there’s no possible way you’re married to someone who believes gay marriage is a risk to liberty. Meghan wanted gay couples to have love; Obama, Hillary Biden, on the other hand, are the “secular left” who supported a movement for the “the destruction of all family units and the elimination of publicly practiced religion. No families and no God but only the state” (source of quote is an unnamed author from The Federalist).
