I’ve had time to mull and grieve and rage. I bought the last episode so I could watch Brennan and Hannah be the queens they are, but that was the only episode I could stomach this season. I, like Brennan, have a lot I’d like to say, but refuse to give TPTB any more of my energy. So, nothing against the new rookies, I’m sure they’re something, but I just hate it. I hate the whole thing. The lack of character, support, or concern those women showed the last three vets (who were frankly some of the classiest women to ever grace the organization) broke my heart. Sisterhood my arse.
I wish the current squad (and most especially the cut vets) well, but I’m done. I can’t in good conscience support this team anymore. I’ll keep following the boards, because I love YOU all, but no. What I watched was cruel and calculated. It heartbreak for sport, during a pandemic where the trauma these women (and all of us) cannot fully be comprehended. Who does this? I just... felt sick. Still do. Those gorgeous women will pull through, I know. They are much too good for the Cowboys organization and I look forward to watching them blossom. I’ve been sending Hannah DMs because I worry— but she’s so resilient and such a fighter, I know her battle to de-stigmatize mental illness and journey to help others will literally save lives. What a warrior. Let’s continue to support them in the way they deserve and continue to lift each other up as well.
Love you. Thank you for providing such a fun, safe place to share our thoughts, feelings, and love of dance and community. Stay safe. ❤️❤️❤️- 29

Can I please just say, I’m sorry for your loss of your grandfather, thank you for being honest and speaking out, I’m glad you’re getting help (I really don’t mean that in any nasty way at all) and that I hope you’re okay 💙
also as someone who has suffered mental health issues myself, I’m so peeved at how they’re handling Hannah’s cuts, I’m not sure I can watch the latest episode.
although tbf I probably will but I know I’ll fevers wound up if I do and I’m glad team mates have stuck up for her.
Thank you. Sincerely. 🥰❤️

This is a woman who had something she was clearly very qualified for taken away because she could not perform perfectly at the time due to her illness. This take not only infantilizes Hannah, infantilizes women for having feelings at all, but punishes her for speaking about about how reality tv commodifies the pain and suffering of women. The hypocrisy displayed by the team behind MTT shows how openness about mental health, especially by women, is only valued when it gives a company altruism brownie points -- that's the whole idea behind My Cause My Boots. When women actually begin to show the effects of their illness, they are punished, and yet their presence in the organization in the first place is lauded as some sort of gold star. God forbid Hannah actually try to make this fact clear, knowing that people will either not understand or willfully miss the point and attack her.
And trust me, I understand how the dance industry works. I get how television and performance work. But using “this is the way it is” as an excuse is not good enough. Sure, this is the way it is. Is it right? Is it just? Do we continue to demand perfection and still capitalize on the idea of tearing women down? This season of MTT has exploited Hannah's illness for #ratings and yet she was released from the team when her illness manifested. If we can’t step back and be critical of how the industry works, we will continue to see the same exploitation. But that’s okay because it’s just the way it is, right?
Let's stop punishing women for standing up for themselves, please.
FREAKING THIS. So does not only does this incredible woman suffer from mental illness, but she’s served as a beacon of light and HOPE to others who also suffer from mental illness, despite the stigma—which is ALIVE AND WELL. Additionally, her mom is on the front lines fighting Covid. So she gets to worry about her mother on a daily basis, her dancing (which is superb), all while attending school full-time, and dancing in an unsafe (physically, mentally, and emotionally) environment. As a woman with mental illness herself, I am absolutely at my breaking point and have been since June. The amount of medication I’m taking almost scares me. Yes I have a psychiatrist and yes I have a therapist— I meet with them twice a week. I recently lost my grandfather to Covid. It was difficult, but he was old and had health problems and we could see it coming. If I lost a parent? One of the few people on the planet who truly understands me, my fight, my plight, my heart, and loves me unconditionally? I would be over. Done. I hate them for this. I really do. I’ve watched from the beginning but not this season, and never again. This is so gross. And the gaslighting and verbal abuse? Intolerable. I am incensed by the Hannah portrayal. I know how these things work, I’ve danced on a world-class team, and I’ve had more than six friends go on to be professionals on dancing with the stars. I’ve also had two friends make top five on so you think you can dance. I get the dance world. I lived in the dance world. I understand the ugly below the surface crap that takes place. But in much the same way someone had to stand up and say enough with the Me Too (RIP Taylor) movement, this has to stop. They’ve been given a national stage with a varied audience. Use it or lose it. And right now I’m ready to burn it to the ground.

I’ve been trying to stay off the boards because I’m not watching this season, but YouTube suggested a mini clip involving the most recent episode, and like an idiot I watched it. And now I’m a frothing, pissed off, honey badger. Kat? Is a disaster. No spinning it. She bad. Hannah too pale? DEEEEEEEP BREATHES. Someone gonna die. I know these ladies have heard of self tanner. She’s incredible. If you’d like her to smile more, be less fierce (something she’s been praised up and down for) then TELL HER, and I’m sorry Brennan looked fandamntastic. Watching Hannah’s Instagram stories with her mom in PPE gear just breaks my heart. That this is the reason she was cut makes me want to BURN THINGS. We lost an elementary school teacher at my son’s school to covid and my grandfather. That they’re pretending this is anything other than what it is has me rabid. Anyway. I have missed y’all. I’m off to take a Xanax and do some deep breathing. Maybe purchase a voodoo doll...

Exactly re the head.....I don't like her look AT ALL. And (this probably isn't her fault) but I think they should have left her hair curly. If it is so curly that you can't straighten the hairline, don't wear it straight.
And what would her church say about that? If she wears her bolt ons with grace that's ok? hahahaha just be a smarta$$ on that. If you will be a happier person if you get a little plastic surgery, go for it!
Mormon here. They don’t care. Utah has more plastic surgeons than any other state. Which... ughhh.. but to each their own.

Entire thing leaves a bad taste. I have not brought myself to watch the show. The team picture should be an embarrassment to the organization. I cannot get over H&B and they leave the likes of Savannah, Lisa, Maddie and on and on
Same. My first year just not watching. I can’t get over Brennan and Hannah. Frankly, it’s just gross. Kelli is the consummate mean girl, and those two ladies brought more class and authenticity to the team than anyone else in my opinion. Hannah being so open about her mental health issues?! Freaking badass. Brennan with her persistence and maturity? Incredible. If they’re just looking for yes m’am bimbos, they’re a dime a dozen. And I’m not saying they all are, but when people show you who they really are? Believe them. I’d take those two class acts over 3/4 the team. All I can say is ladies you are free, run and don’t look back. You’re way too good for this organization and I just can’t support them anymore.

I'm not disagreeing with the greater point that you're making here, but wanted to point out that West Jordan, UT is a suburb of SLC with a population of over 100k people. She's not exactly small town girl, though I don't doubt that she's been somewhat sheltered because of her faith. Even that has some context within Utah, though, since 62% of Utahans are Mormon (thanks Google!)
ETA: tattling on myself...Maddie is from Farr West, UT. Less than an hour from SLC but wouldn’t likely be considered a suburb. It’s part of the Ogden metro area, which is almost 600k people. Leaving my original post tho since it’s interesting data if you’re into that sort of thing.
I grew up near Farr West. It’s legitimately like cows. And tumble weeds. BUT, the quality of dance training is OFF THE CHARTS throughout the whole state.

I’ve wondered about this over the past couple of days. I think Shaina would have made the team if she’d gone public with her grief. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that's what Kelly (and the show) was hoping for— especially after Kelly was SO VISIBLY BOTHERED with Shaina approaching her privately later. I’m super impressed with her for not exploiting this tragedy for personal gain. Girlfriend respected herself, her emotional boundaries, AND those involved, by not dancing when the puppet masters cranked up the music, and THAT is maturity and grace. What a beautiful human being. It’s unfortunate there’s not a yes, no, maybe, category for those characteristics.

My opinion that matters to no one.
1. I think Kelli genuinely takes her job very seriously. It does appear she can make harsh comments but, in general, I do not believe she is out to hurt any of these girls.
2. I couldn't possibly say what Victoria is "really" like since I do not know her at all, and only see what the editing crew wants me to see.
3. Why do some/all/most of the choreographers wear clothes that look as if they picked them up from down-on-their-luck vagrants? Does that make them more famous?
4. That guy's assistant needed a barrette or something for her hair.
I’ve wondered about this as well. Why are they dressed for a cold winter’s day in the forest? Are they not roasting?
I was also a little surprised by tyce’s demeanor. At one point I even wondered if he was a titch drunk? I’m glad he was able to see them in their element though. Because they really are quite special in what they do.
And lastly, food for thought. I am so pro Jaylyn it’s almost ridiculous. Is there any way she didn’t make showgroup because of her stiffness when she talks to people? When Kelli was talking to Judy about Kat’s ability to always keep a conversation going, my brain paused... because my guess is that this would be an issue for some of the ladies. My girl Jaylyn is beautiful and oh so talented, but of what we’ve been shown of her one in one time with TPTB in this season and last, she’s a little tense. I’m still mightily miffed about showgroup, MIGHTILY, but wonder if maybe that was a factor?

Its still early in the season but Bridget Caroline Gina come to mind ... Holly was a show off .... her signature move was the slow slink into a split and pulling herself forward ... cant stand that move reminds me of an exotic dancer not NFL Cheerleader. She and Erica did that when ever they were asked for improv with guest choreographers ...sorry if that offends some ... yes the girl could spin but so can others. On some level I cant help but wonder if she did a costume malfunction on purpose but did not mean for it to go as far as it did ...she strikes me as that kind of person ..
It was her signature move, but I don’t think TPTB are really interested in subtlety or nuance—which she could also do very well. When they fawn over Amy, (she’s darling and has a great personality for cheerleading, definitely) girl’s technique is... not good. Full stop. They’re want flash in a pan, power, and projection. Which is great. They’re cheerleaders, they should. Holly’s ability and control was bananas. Soooo good. I think she showed off cuz she was bored. Just a guess. And she could. Big fish, small pond. I don’t think there’s anyway she’d malfunction on purpose. She’s TOO GOOD. Taking the spotlight away from what she does best would be so beneath her, and frankly insulting to a highly trained dancer.

Ok guys i havent watch the episode yet and i am already mad, i need some advices in order to handle it and watch calmly without anxiety this episode please, i know its going to be hard but damn, FUCK YOU KELLI !!!
I remember in past seasons that Judy said on some girl "i will fight for her..." to someone that kelli didnt like and Kelli the B... was like 🙄 "dont try me..." and the girl ended being but from the final roster and that just shows that Kelli is a boss ass bitch ( and not meaning int he good way) who doesnt care about Judy's opinion, i think Judy in like the estrict mother of all of them who supports everyone, she is bitchy sometimes but not as kelli.
Sorry im mad and sad por this whole Jalyn situation.
I legitimately had to fast forward through parts, I was pretty fired up. It’s good to know what’s going to happen before you watch it though. Takes the edge off. Reach out and support those you support on social media. To those you don’t, just move along. Karma finds a way.

3 hours ago, TxBex said:It's clear that there are two opposing camps regarding Victoria. Either you think she's come back stronger and better this year, or you think she skated onto the team because of her connections. I actually don't dislike her and think that she could have made the team this year on her own merits. That being said, I don't find her the best in the room by any stretch of the imagination. Better than Bridget or Gina? Really? IMHO, she's not even the best rookie. From what they've shown, I think Amanda, Lisa and Kelcey are better. I have yet to be wowed with any clip they've shown of VK. I think she's a blender at best. I also think that she's benefited from a very favorable edit this year. TPTB have been careful to only show her in a positive light. There's a clear narrative to make us believe she's so good. If she actually is, then show it. A prolonged clip of her outdancing capable vets beside her would shut every one up. I don't need Kelli oohing and ahhing edited to a 5 second clip, because that's what you want me to see and believe. SHOW ME THE MONEY! Back up the best in the room talk with undeniable video. Shut me up with a clip of her amazing dancing. Make me eat my words. It's this lack of transparency that leaves me questioning what the truth actually is.
100% this. All we needed of Holly Powell was a ten second clip of her dancing next to ANYONE on the team to know she was in a different league. Not subjective, not up to personal preference, just fact. They’re trying to paint VK (who I think actually has gotten stronger) as a Holly, when she CLEARLY isn’t. Unfortunately, it’s backfiring and VK is getting more criticism than she would have, had they just let her fade into the background. False narratives never play well and are easily disproved. Holly made top 40 at SYTYCD auditions -which is incredible- and VK couldn’t even get one foot through the door. Rightfully so. Do I think she’s strong enough to be on the team? This year, yes. Am I biggly irritated that we’re being treated like lobotomy recipients in regards to last year’s dumpster fire of lying, manipulation, and disrespect, from a spoiled and entitled monster child? Hells yes. Do I want to BREAK THINGS that VK’s toxicity is being projected onto sweet Jalyn??? Deeeeeep breathes. YES.
Having actually danced on a world class dance team for years, this is not a new storyline or scenario for me. This kind of BS happens at all levels in every organization. But they really aren’t helping VK in this scenario, both with viewers and her teammates. One of the reasons dancers (or any artist for that matter)are willing to put up with so much garbage in regards to monetary compensation is that they love their craft— and for the deeply personal friendships they forge along the way. Kelli, TPTB, and VK, are minimizing what it actually means to be a DCC and the experience itself with these stunts. Stop trying to shove the square peg into a round hole. There’s a square hole that she easily could have slipped into and made everyone’s experience (the dancers, and the viewers) much more enjoyable/real.
And for the love of all that’s holy stop calling the square peg a diamond. We’re not idiots.

I haven't watched the episode yet because I was visiting my best friend who was in town last night but I'm afraid if I do watch it, I'll break the TV by throwing something at it when Kelli starts in on Jaylyn. It's taking everything I have not to tweet something on Kelli's account stating I know who was being toxic in that meeting and it wasn't Jaylyn.
I echo what CrazyinAlabama said. Jaylyn needs to keep her head down, finish her year and vamoose. There's no way Kelli will keep her another season anyway and Charlotte will likely chime in with talk of "She needs to be GREAT!". Who wants to stick around for that nightmare when they are still getting paid peanuts?
Same. I’ve been in, “Don’t tweet Kelli. Don’t tweet Kelli.” Mode since the episode aired. 😡

Being born & raised in Texas, I'll give this one a go.
I would have said that the star represents Texas and being the best. It symbolizes being the greatest you can be and representing the star/state with dignity, pride & class. When you wear the star, you know you are representing the best, not just the state, but the Cowboys as well. (as a bitter Houston Oiler fan, that one hurt). It's Texas pride and Cowboy pride.
I include the state bits because most of the judges are from Texas & you'll get em the Texas pride emotion that is bred into Texans from birth. At least a few of them would think "that girl gets it (Texas)"
Okay this was very helpful! Thank you!!

Im not sure if we are allowed to dicuss these things since it does involve religious culture, and since we arent Mormon, we cant really speak for the LDS culture, so a mod can delete this is needed. I lived in Ely, NV for 3 years which is majority LDS. My female friends were all LDS. Ive been to LDS worship services, and ive been to LDS community dinners. I am not LDS, and not any religion. What I do know is that the DCC uniform is completely unacceptable to the LDS culture. I would have to say if Maddie were comitted to her LDS faith there is no way she would be on the team. The LDS culture is historically inflexible. They excommunicate members for things less grievous than wearing the DCC uniform. Most likely, Maddie would have had to make a choice- one or the other but not both. If Maddies family members do attend LDS services, Id be willing to be the Elders of their Ward have expressed concern. Maddie chose DCC. The assumption could be made she is less worried about the age/marriage issue. Also, women dont have to go on Missions, where as the young men do. Maddie could certainly choose to go on a Mission, but it also doesnt have to be in her 21st year.
No. Respectfully no. I’m lds and have been my whole life. You would never in a million years be excommunicated for what you wear. Like ever. She could walk down the street with nipple pasties and sparklers shooting out of her bum and still be fine. Well, maybe taken to see a shrink and probably a doctor for the bum burns... but you know what I mean. Never ever ever would she be asked to make a choice. I think it’s great she’s a DCC and Tasha too. Look at the LDS girls on SYTYCD and Dancing with the Stars. Utah is an incredible state for fostering talent and pride in the arts. Being a Mormon is big part of that.

I honestly think they knew malena and VK (maybe more VK) weren’t going to make it this year, but wanted to expose them to as much of the process and requirements as possible so they’d really have a leg up next year. I love malena’s sparkle. She has the “it” factor for me. I feel the worst for lily to be honest. How would it be to be called in on the LAST DAY OF TRAINING CAMP without any prior office visits and get cut?! Sucker. Punch. City. It’s like that one gal they called in on the last day years ago and cut her for her legs being too short. Ummm... you only just now realized this?? Something this poor girl literally can’t change? It took three months before coming to this conclusion? Unless she didn’t bring her legs to camp prior, in which case fair enough. I think those last two cuts are always the most painful. (Tara excluded, because oh my heart.)
I also feel bad for Judy this season. Her wings were clipped. Tough situation to be in.
Lastly, I do really wish we’d gotten to see a greater variety of training camp candidates. This season, more than others, really felt like: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders; The Cutting from the Team. I’d love to see more of the positive reinforcement and growth stories along with the drama of the cuts. Just felt heavy this year. Maybe because it was so personal for Judy and Kelly but still.

We know that some of the DCC look at this board. There are often comments here that are very critical (which of course is absolutely allowed here, so not criticizing posters). So be it here or on any other social media, they will view things that are negative and perhaps unfair as very few commenters know these gals personally. I admire their ability to read hurtful things (some of which are completely beyond their control) and still keep their self confidence. As we age, this is easier to do, but so many of these gals are so young. I'm glad they seem to have good support systems.
Other comments from watching the show tonight....I like Jaylyn's new hair color. If I didn't read these boards and watched VK just as a casual viewer, I just see a very young gal with a lot of excess enthusiasm and energy. Kelli referred to her as a "beautiful storm". I think the word "storm" is very fitting....wild, uncontrolled energy. Finally, it was wonderful to see Courtney and some other alumni we don't usually see or hear from.
I agree with this completely. These are young enthusiastic girls, some younger than others. Victoria reminds me of an exhuberant puppy. I found her incredibly endearing tonight. This has been her world for so long and she’s finally been let out of the gates. I think she’ll come back stronger and a bit more polished and be a tremendous ambassador for the team. Anyone with that much passion and love for an organization is always an asset.
Also, watching Brennan KILL IT, makes me so freaking happy. Sooooooo proud of that woman. THAT is what persistence looks like. THAT is what it looks like to really fight for a dream. Heck she’s a roll model for me and I’m a 40 year old mom of three. You go girl. (Now I’m off to nap. ?)
