For me that run is less impressive because of the things they were accused of doing to keep that run going. They were caught more than once doing shady things.

This is why Joe Montana's Niners are my true definition of a dynasty-- they may have totally creamed a couple of the teams they played, but at least it wasn't by deflating any footballs.

I watched the whole run of T.J. Hooker when I still had AT&T Uverse which had the H&I (Heroes & Icons) channel. I will say I missed Adrian Zmed's character after he chose to leave the show. He was really cute and his character was good at being snarky and lightening things up sometimes.

Even so, that CBS run of it did have some great episodes, from me seeing it on DVD.

He went for it on fourth down instead of a FG and it paid off with a TD.

John Riggins did the same in XVII for Washington, except that that one was in lieu of a punt.

I did it.  I actually did what I resolved to do: not watch any of this horrid game in real time.  I wanted both teams to lose.

I'm right there with you-- John Riggins' magnificent 166-yd. rushing performance in Super Bowl XVII in '83 to lead Washington to a Lombardi (including that memorable 4th-and-1 for 43 to a TD) has that one ranking high above this travesty, and that's why I saw the second half of that one last night, and practically none of LVIII.

I was very confused about the end of OT.  I thought it was 15 minutes and then if you didn’t score when the clock expired that was that

In the regular games, yes-- in the playoffs (because somebody has to win) they keep going until someone scores and wins (at least IIRC).

We just had this Super Bowl four years ago, and no one asked for a redo.

Me either! It'll be Super Bowl XVII (Miami/Washington), Super Bowl XX (Chicago/New England), Super Bowl XV (Oakland/Philly), or any other actually entertaining Super Bowl of the past for me-- not this one.

The only team I don't want to win the SB is the Chiefs.

Or the 49ers-- both already have titles to their name, let alone have had multiple chances, while Detroit doesn't even have one, let alone they haven't even had a chance; that's why if it's SF/KC again, I am not watching the Super Bowl.

There was a Columbia logo with the Coca-Cola byline.

Which I thought Shout!'s DVDs of Hart to Hart and T.J. Hooker would have (fourth- and fifth-and-final season for the former, all-in-one for the latter); the version they do have (bylineless logo, same Suzanne Ciani jingle)...

does reflect the times pretty well, though, IMO.

  9. Recently got Shout!'s all-in-one DVD of T.J. Hooker (that hit ABC/CBS action cop procedural w/William Shatner et al.), and have been seeing it regularly lately (started w/the third season, have finished that, and now on season four), and believe it or not, while I used to think it was a case of great title music, bad show, it's actually better than I ever gave it credit for (many third-season episodes actually did have some good chase scenes, for one thing); Shout!'s DVD also reflects the times as well (albeit not entirely), in that it has a bylineless logo of Columbia PIctures Television (same Suzanne Ciani jingle as the Coke-byline logo) starting with the second episode of the third season and carrying forward (the first two seasons, and the first third-season episode, only had the SPT logo).

Washington sure likes to keep their wins interesting, don't they?  They're probably going to lose in the championship game, but at least I don't have to endure Alabama or Texas in it, so I'm fine.

That's partly why I didn't watch the Rose Bowl-- I thought Alabama was gonna just put the pedal to the metal and keep it there, and it wouldn't even be a game; glad Michigan won.

  11. Right now, reading the second of Jon Land's solo efforts w/Jessica Fletcher, Murder in Red (I say "solo efforts" because on A Date With Murder, which I haven't read yet, Jon was credited alongside Donald Bain and Fletcher; he then started to be co-author with Fletcher w/Manuscript for Murder). What is making this one enjoyable is because I am imagining the great actor Robert Fuller (who was Dr. Kelly Brackett on Emergency!) to be Dr. Charles Clifton, main doctor of Clifton Care Partners, the fictional clinic depicted herein; if this was an episode of Murder, She Wrote, I think Fuller would have been the perfect Dr. Charles Clifton.

We can't just have mashed potatoes with dinner tonight, he's looking up recipes with names like browned butter mashed potatoes with garlic.  I'm sorry but during the week this is not happening.

I get he wants to be creative, but I wouldn't blame you for not wanting that-- that'd be far too exotic for me as well.

I have that channel blocked.  And if the news continues to be as dire as it has been this past couple of weeks I may be blocking all the "all news" channels!

I don't blame you for blocking-- I dislike it because of how loud its opinion shows are, and how little actual reporting it has (practically none of the 5 Ws and one H I grew up around from Eyewitness News and Action News, among others).

  14. One pet peeve of mine when it comes to my health is the headaches I get from time to time, usually sinus or allergy headaches-- those hurt so dang bad, sometimes I cannot eat supper (and that's a bother because many a time, my mother has made some fine dishes, and if I cannot enjoy them because of this kind of headache, it makes me feel very awful).

But today, of all days, when the news has been uniformly just awful, is not a day when I need CNN blasting down the hall.  He's not in the best of health and I don't have the heart to make this an issue since it's temporary.  Ear plugs are my new best friends.

Bumping this up-- I feel the same way about FOX "News" for that matter, and that's why an old white-noise machine that my nephew gave me is my new best friend.

  16. Used to get the New York Times whenever I could at the Publix in Simpsonville; now, I'm thinking about stopping.

The reason why is because it's become what I got it to avoid (I got it today to see if they said anything about Texas' momentous World Series win over Arizona last night; to my dismay, they didn't say a word, only focusing on running, the NFL and college football).

In essence, I got it as an alternative to the Greenville News and the Charlotte Observer; now, hate to say it, but it's becoming like the Greenville News and the Charlotte Observer (just as bad, maybe worse).

That slogan, "All the News That's Fit to Print," may as well be "Less than A Quarter of the News That's Fit to Print."

Also, the paper is no longer called the National Edition; where that moniker was on Page 1 above the weather forecast, it now says "The Weather".

  17. Have been playing Sonic Mania Plus on PS4 (my nephew gave me his old one for an early Christmas this year, and an early 43rd birthday present for me), and there is one thing I have discovered in multiple playings in Time Attack (practice mode) of Metallic Madness act 2 on Sonic Mania Plus: it has multiple dangerous routes, and you have to plan your overall route through the level to the boss (or in Time Attack, the goal) such that you face as little danger as possible. To that end, when it comes to that part with multiple spiked platforms coming down, only enter that area if you're reasonably sure you can do it without failing, or if you have a shield of some form, or if you're in your Super form; do not enter recklessly without protection (IOW, do not be a daredevil).

The reason why this is is because, if you fail at any point (if you don't get to the shaded area [safe area] in time on any one of the platforms), when the platform you fail on comes down on you, it will pull a Marble Zone act 3 from Sonic 1 (in essence, it will impale you, take your rings, and kill you at the same time, just like the two spiked chandeliers did in the middle of Marble Zone 3 on Sonic 1 if you were unprotected and under them and didn't get out in time). Of course, if you have a shield on or are in your Super form, the only thing that will happen if you fail here is that you simply die (that's why it's best to have a shield on or be Super).

That is if you can putt! I would miss.

I think Plinko is the best one to play. Unless you only have one chip and hit zero, you should be able to leave with some money.

Very true-- quite a few, however, have gotten max chips, and still come out on the short end of the stick.
