  1. it would have been a bit more believable if they had a scene where Savannah assures Joy that she called and left a message with Amy or whoever letting them know she was ok--around day 2 of her being gone. Being gone 11 days with no attempt to assure her family is not reasonable behavior.

overall enjoyed it but had to ignore things that were just there because its a story and not realistic

  2. so glad Bhanu is gone for his sake (he seemed unstable) and ours. His mood swing/personality whiplash was painful to watch. If he really is the person we saw, i cannot believe he is a superfan. He played like Survivor had some how foudn a person who has been locked away somewhere with no tv or internet for the last 25 years so he has no idea how this Surivivor thing works.

  3. I could not remember who Sam was.

I wanted them to deflate the tires from the get-go.

My favorite part was when Katherine was tearing into mer and said that Katherine hadn't had to dance that much since the 80s. I think that was intentional and my 80s watching Fame-self was there for it.

  4. I did not get Phaedra or MJ being mad.

MJ did nothing the whole game and was wrong almost the entire time. Up until the end, she was backing Phaedra; then she was backing Kate.

I don't think Dan went after Phaedra to be mean--at that point, it was his only out (due to his crappy playing up to then). He had to point the finger at a real traitor. Everyone already suspected Parvati so going that way, did nothing. But if he outed someone not well suspected, many would think "huh, maybe Dan is ok after all."

I also have less sympathy with Phaedra because she hardly ever seemed to contribute anything. As Kate said--no plan. If Phaedra had more of a plan versus "whatever you want" then I'd be more in her corner.

I also disagree that Cleo lacked personality.  I actually liked her. She just didn't work with Benton.

there is one scene where she is shooting basketball outside the ER and has a nice interaction with Mark. It was a nice bit of personality and I wish the scripts had more scenes like that

True, but even before there was an actual law; there was common sense and a patient’s right to privacy.  I attended med school in the late 70’s-early 80’s and, even then, in the dark ages; we were warned not to snoop in charts without a medical indication and to not discuss patients except as part of their care or at private educational sessions.  And not by name. And there were consequences if the guidelines weren’t followed even if not legal ones.

agreed and there were (and are) state laws. It's just not accurate to say "HIPAA violation!" pre 2003.

HIPPAA came into being in 1996, while ER was in its early seasons and almost every episode includes multiple HIPA violations.  Remember Mark whining and complaining when Kerry stopped allowing patient names on the status board?  Linking identifiable elements to a diagnosis and location is about as big a HIPAA violation as there is and Mark, of all people, having just recently completed his residency, should've been well aware of it and advocating on behalf of patient privacy.

HIPAA the law was enacted in 1996; the privacy regulations weren't issued until end of 2000 and compliance wasn't required until 2003.

It's even more amazing because the actor is not Scottish!  In real life he speaks like Eliza.

I can't believe it was his first acting role. He did great. Someone hire this guy!

  9. I enjoyed the episode a lot. Young William sounded so much like the adult version I started doubting my eyes midway through--was I stupidly overlooking makeup/CGI on the older actor? was it dubbing?

this isn't a show where I really need the overall plot to move that much--it's a crime of the week show with some background developments. So I enjoyed the look back to how their bond started and I felt for Eliza with William getting to do what she'd like to do.

  10. Jay has managed to be even worse than before. I can't stand people who expect everyone else to play their game--as in "I, Jay, get to take care of me and the rest of you have to play in a way that benefits Jay as well." =

Please win Horacio or Kyland next week.

  11. I liked Jay when he was in the underdog/lay up role but running things makes him annoying.

If Horacio wants to sign up for reality tv, he needs to be more of a player. He plays like this is season 1 of a show where he mistakenly thinks its just a physical competition. You don't have to be mean or super caty but try to play the game.

I also dislike how it seems like most of the challenges against the champions are not physical or do not involve going up against the champ directly. I like a mixture (but not where I fear for the life of the loser).

Glenn Howerton and Scott Grimes both started on ER during the same episode.  My thought at the time was that Morris was originally meant as a recurring character whose incompetence would come to a head at some point, and he'd leave the show, while Howerton would eventually become a regular.  However, when Howerton left, (or more like his character just vanished with no explanation), the writers re-calibrated and they started writing Morris as a more competent physician who could plausibly stick around.

I remember the other character and expected him to stay around but he just disappeared. And you are right, it felt like Morris should have been the temporary one who realizes medicine is not for him.

I'm watching season 11 on POP and wondering why they didn't drop the helicopter on Dr. Morris? I hate that guy!

Morris starts out completely incompetent and then a miracle happens across a few seasons and he becomes a solid doctor. I wish the show had (a) not made him so awful to start with--was not credible to me he could be that bad and (b) showed an arc of how he got better. Instead it just goes from malpractice to the guy running things reasonably well with no explanation of how that happened.

  14. I take it there has to be some other twist to avoid either having way too many people at the final (if they all win their vet match ups from here on out) or them to just keep losing cash. Would be funny though if it just kept going down.

April Showers (7x18) is an episode I want to love because it’s no secret I will go down with the Mark/Elizabeth ship, but it’s just so, so stupid. The hijinks with Mark running late for his own wedding were completely unnecessary and not a “oh haha this is so funny!” plot. Not even the previouslies made sense. It felt like someone just took some random mishmash of scenes and D-plots and put them in this episode. And who really cares that Abby has the sniffles? Why did that take up so much screentime?

my favorite part of the episode is when some guests (maybe Susan or Peter) are in the back of the church and Romano walks in with his date. They look at him and he says "What, you didn't think I'd get an invitation?" in his Romano way that makes everything funny. I hate that they ruined the character. He was the most fun jerk.

  16. Sean was a real surprise. The show really doesn't work if people start treating it as a roughing it retreat where you have the option to leave whenever you get what you think you need from it.

Re Bruce: I can understand being annoyed but K just seems obsessed and not thinking about who is a risk to her. I don't see Bruce as a real risk--if everyone thinks he's so nice plus physically strong, he becomes a target pretty quickly.

  17. I'm really enjoying the hopper. The fact the only way to be 100% safe is to win a daily is great. Much less boring.

editing to add i'm not a Fessy fan but he's been a lot less annoying this season. Josh never stops being Josh.

Ok.  Thanks.  What happened was the force of the blast caused air to enter into his circulatory system.  The pressure changes from the blast damage the lungs which cause air to be driven into the blood vessels there.  If the embolism is large enough, it can stop the heart and can also travel to the brain where it would prevent oxygen from getting to the tissue resulting in hypoxic injury, even brain death.

Not all air embolisms are fatal, it mainly depends on how much air entered the circulation.  I've seen a few TV shows where someone was murdered by the villain using a syringe to inject air into their IV.  A typical 10 cc syringe full of air is not going to be fatal.

You sometimes hear this situation called 'blast lung'.  It happens with explosion in combat situations usually.

In real life, they probably would give a young, otherwise healthy guy more than 4 hours before declaring brain death; but, otherwise, the scenario is fairly plausible.

just chiming in to say (what I've posted before) but Pratt's death made me cry real tears. It was not a good season for ER but they still moved me with the way that happened. The point when he realizes what is going on just gutted me. Well done writers and actors.

  19. I'm liking the hopper. I normally root for vets simply because they are known characters and I normally have no reason to cheer for newbies I don't know. But it had gotten really predictable along with alliances made off show, etc. Too much not rocking the boat. This makes it less predictable and you can't scare newbies into voting with you.
