  1. I would've been surprised if it WAS renewed.

We watched it with my fiance for like 6 episodes, maybe 7, don't know, before giving up. The premise was interesting, but the show did it no justice. Acting was meh, writing bland and those awful cheap makeup effects.

It was a weird combination of 90's monster series (Charmed, Buffy etc) and Prison Break (with the conspiracy). Some shows are ahead of their time, this felt like a relic.

  2. Watched the whole season yesterday. I thought it was clearly better than the previous two. First one is awful, second was slightly better, but this one I actually liked to some degree.

It does have the same problems than before; awful characters, not-so-subtle and underscoring themes, nonsensical writing and bad acting. But I liked the season taking place during one day and the flashbacks actually managed to develop characters, which hasn't really worked previously.

    Spoiler

Did anyone else realize that the reveal/motive was pretty much combination of the previous seasons?

First season had Cam killing people he thought had done bad things, Connor and Jen does this too. Also, second season started with a flashback murder that actually turned out to be unrelated to the current killing spree. Just like Kit.

Sure, Kits death started the cycle, but it wasn't until the mother (whose name I have hard time recalling) killed herself, that set the things in motion.

I was watching episode 5 or 6, when I texted my friend who had already finished it. I told her

    Spoiler

that I was 90 % sure the killers were Jen and Connor, maybe even Amber, but I deemed her too obvious with all the craziness.

Connor was so pointless during the first half and then all of a sudden they start to hit us in the head with their mother burning herself and how it affected Connor. So it became clear that they were setting up the motive.

When the cops were wondering why there's such a difference in the killings, women were killed more calculated ways, when men were just mercilessly hacked to death, I realized there must be two killers. And who else would it be, other than the loving, loyal best friend Jen.

I just have no idea why

    Spoiler

Dan and Angel were just locked in the basement. Connor gassed them for a minute, but why? So that they would glue together? How did that even happen, what kind of gas does that? And why didn't he even try to actually kill them? Was it just lazy writing, a way to have at least one survivor other than Saadia?

I was glad to see such a genre star like Bill Moseley show up in the second episode, but man wasn't he wasted.

  3. Even though I'm not a fan, when Endgame was getting near, I started to get hyped. I didn't expect liking it, since that has been the case with most of these movies, but I knew I had to see it. And even though I don't care about MCU from an entertainment value, I do respect them for what they've accomplished.

Surprisingly I found Endgame to be okay. There were fun/interesting scenes and sequences. Although it was mostly fanservice: the movie or MCU: greatest hits, they made it work. I do have some issues, but nothing major. Well, atleast not before the final battle. When the armies appeared, I lost my interest.

Even though I didn't feel anything for the

    Spoiler

    deaths and Cap aging,

I can see why people are getting sad about them.

Overall it was decent. Nothing I would need to see again, though. Definitely much better than Infinity, which for me is the worst of the series.

  4. I like Guardians of the galaxy 1 & 2 (especially the second) and Iron man 3. For me, those are the definite best films of the franchise. Ragnarok, Civil war and Endgame were decent too. The rest (that I've seen) range from meh to just plain bad.

I remember back in 2008 when reviews for Iron man started rolling in. Being a long time RDJ fan I was getting really hyped. But then I saw it and it was just... I had trouble seeing how it was deemed one of the greatest comic movies of all time.

For me the MCU (for which I've seen) ranks from best to worst:
    1. GOTG 2
    2. Iron Man 3
    3. GOTG
    4. Ragnarok
    5. Civil War
    6. Endgame
    7. Avengers
    8. Iron Man
    9. Antman
    10. Homecoming
    11. Incredible Hulk
    12. Age of Ultron
    13. Captain America
    14. Iron Man 2
    15. Infinity War

Yes, I dislike Infinity the most. I can see why it's loved by fans, but I've never been as bored with this franchise before. I had this problem already with Civil War, but Infinity took it on a whole new level, where it didn't feel anymore as a movie, but more of an tv-episode.

But another unpopular opinion: X-Men is the greatest comic movie franchise and I HATE that Marvel got them back.

  5. Surprising how there's no one talking about this, when the first one was such a hit. I liked this one too, not as great as the first one, but still pretty good. I'm one of the few who really disliked Lego Batman and I never saw Ninjago, but the main films are definitely worth watching multiple times.

I probably laughed hardest for the Hot tub time machine -reference. Not because it was particularly funny, it just came out of nowhere.

  6. I remember a scene from a movie (it can be tv-show, too). Man and a woman are talking hysterically.

Man: No, but I chose you!

Woman: But I don't want you!

I can see this scene clearly in my head, but I can't visualize their faces. It's been stuck in my head for a month, maybe two, and it's driving me crazy that I don't recognize it.

The entire movie was built on contrivances like that. Another example is how stupidly and irresponsibly the Haddonfield police acted. Michael's escape the night before Halloween and the murders at the gas station on Halloween were known to them. The police should have ordered people to stay inside on Halloween night while they hunted for Michael, Instead, we see the streets thronged with kids out trick-or-treating when Michael starts his rampage!

Also the twist with the "new Loomis" (other than giving flashbacks of Thorn) existed only so Michael could escape from the car. And the podcasters were there only for exposition + a way for Michael to get his mask back. It's extremely lazy screenwriting.

  8. I consider myself being a huge Halloween fanboy and I've been waiting new film for a decade with a burning passion. But I ended up hating this one. It's not the worst of the franchise, but definitely my least favorite. Parts 5 and 6, Zombie's films and hell, even Resurrection had some interesting/memorable stuff in them, even though the films were utter garbage. For this one, nothing. It felt empty and shallow. There's nothing actually wrong with it, but there's nothing right either. It just... bleh.

I like 1 and 2 the exact same amount. This was my least favorite mostly because Rebel's humor is far too broad for my taste and they really gave her a ton of screen time.

That's funny, since I thought Rebel was one of the biggest problems in part 2, but I found her much more tolerable in this one.

  10. Even though I can't express my love for Psycho enough (it's the one movie I can watch again anytime and still be impressed), I think Bates Motel told a better story and had better casting.

I also love Psycho 2, which is as good as horror sequel can get. They had elements of the first one, but didn't make the same movie again. It was psychologically very interesting film.

Psycho 3 is awful, truly the worst one of them all, just a cheap, slimy slasher flick. Which automatically wouldn't be a bad thing, since 80's slashers are my weakness, but this one just had nothing good in it.

Psycho 4 is okay, but forgettable. I've only seen it once and have no intentions watching it again.

Haven't seen The Bates Motel, as it doesn't appear to have much in common with the actual franchise. It was more a spinoff film than a continuation, right?

  11. I'm not that fond with MCU-films, I mean most of them are fine, but the only one I think is actually a good film is Iron Man 3. Unpopular opinion, I know and I don't care, even though it was PG13, it definitely felt like a Shane Black movie and that is always a good thing. But here's another unpopular opinion: Infinity War might be my least favorite. It was all around bland and uninteresting. Maybe I just don't care about the characters enough, but it didn't do anything for me.

I was also really, really disappointed with Ruffalo. Did anyone else get the feeling, that he just didn't want to be there?

Oh, and it never had an Avengers-feel to it. It was more of "MCU The Movie". Greatest hits.

  12. As a movie, it was good. But since I have the novel so fresh in my mind (read it few weeks before seeing the film), I was slightly disappointed how much they changed and cut from the real story. I enjoyed it more rewatching, when I didn't have high expectations anymore.

  13. I was surprised how much I liked this one. The first one is really good, but the second one... ehh, I don't need to watch it ever again.

Funny thing is how it felt like that in the middle of writing process, writers realized they are making once again the same story about some big competition and just threw random crime story into the mix.

But yeah, I liked it. Most of the jokes landed, unlike in the second one, music was fine and it had a bitter sweet, real ending vibe. I'll miss the chemistry between the cast.

Oh, and Flo was cut short this time. She is an awful character, so thank god for that. There was way too many of her "jokes" in the second one.

  14. I'm not sure if this is allowed, but if not, then feel free to delete this message.

I bought the final season bluray and as usually, it comes with a Ultraviolet code. I don't need it, so is there anyone interested? Previously I've gave the codes on IMDb, but that's not an option anymore. So whoever's up for it, send me pm and I give the code away. BUT! It only works on UK.

The universe only gets meaner to Bart.....

I think her ending still kind of works in a full circle way, but The Boy did foreshadow she'd eventually find peace with herself and now we'll never know how.

The main Dirk crew resolved all their character arcs and have no reason to interact with Bart or Ken again, so it'd have to be a one season Blackwing spinoff. But again, I don't know how satisfying Bart killing Ken or somehow un-corrupting Ken from his power trip would really be.

I'm very, very, highly disappointed on this. But I'm not surprised. I never got the feeling that this would have big enough audience. I'll hope that Fiona finds another great role and wouldn't be stuck just making those cheap straight-to-video films like before. She's far too talented for those.

There is not really a direkt hint Ken turns into a Bad Guy.

Yeah, well. He did. This episode really made me hate him. Poor Bart, her wish was just to get back with Ken.

And poor Friedkin, stuck in some kind of void. Ken was truly a ruthless bastard just tossing him into the portal.

But the rest of them got a nice, happy ending, and that's always good thing. If there won't be another season, none of the actual main characters were trapped in a cliffhanger, so it's satisfying enough of an ending.

I thought this season wasn't as good as the first one, but it wasn't far from it. The one episode few weeks back which only took place on Wendimoor was the weak link, but other than that, I really enjoyed it and hopefully it will be back next year.

  17. I'm a huge slasher-fanatic (mostly 80's, but there's some great ones after that era), and I love Harper's Island. I was so excited for Slasher last year, but I ended up hating it.

However, this second season was improvement. I'm still not gonna say it's anything above average, but it was certainly better.

I was sure from the beginning, that

    Spoiler

Wren is the killer. He didn't seem to have a purpose or effect in anything that's happening, which made him look suspicious. As if the writers were really desperate for a shocking reveal. "Oh no, it's the guy who was so nice and boring!" I also got the feeling that he's Owen's big brother and the whole thing wasn't about Talvinder at all.

Of course that wasn't the whole truth. I noticed clues for the twist when the season went along, but maybe I just didn't think they would go with such a cliche.

    Spoiler

Wren just popped in and out through the episodes. He was mysteriously absent a lot of times.

That letter thing was weird, he signed it with "Your Wren" and not "Yours, Wren.

But what made me realize it's not just about lazy/bad writing and that he might not be a real person, were the flashbacks of Glenn/Benny and Mark arriving to the community. Everyone were welcoming them, except Wren. And in the seventh episode, Mark was worried about Judith not being in her room. Wren was also supposed to be in the room, but nobody mentioned him. That verified my predictions, so the twist didn't come as a shock.

  18. Great episode. Nice to have Bart back.

Ken's arc and character development is interesting, but I can't say that I actually like it. He's quickly turning into a bad guy.

What happened to Friedkin? The knights were shooting everyone around him. The next we see, the knights are making their way around the facility. I know he's not dead, since we didn't see it happen, but Susie's command was pretty clear. Kill everyone. So why would he be left alive?

I don't mind the mass murdering sequences. Season 1 was pretty violent too.

  19. "I don't understand anything that's happening... And I love it!"

Execution with a fucking scissors :D How did Dirk carry them holding the blade and not get hurt?

The episode surely was better than last week, it evens out nicely to have both worlds. Staying only in Wendimoor isn't working.

Has it been told how and why are the people in Wendimoor aware of Dirk? If it has, I've forgotten all about it.
