I'm not disputing the fact that Derek and Mere's children could have the straight blond/dirty blond/ brown hair-- I am just making an observation that  TPTB decided -- on purpose perhaps????? -- to NOT chose any little actors that resemble Patrick Dempsey.

It's an interesting observation for sure.

I don't think Arizona has any real ties to anyone left so I can't imagine anyone mentioning her.

Alex, Carina, DeLuca, Richard, Bailey and Teddy were all Arizona's people! So many opportunities to mention her, especially with a geriatric pregnant Teddy, Alex (Arizona's mentee) as interim chief and all the baby-in-a-bag stuff.

Oh God, I see where this is going. Owen is going to get therapy and it will magically solve all of his issues in one afternoon, he'll have an epiphany about always being in love with Teddy and she'll love him again and they'll get together, and I HATE it already. Hate hate hate.

GSMH must be a haunted place that makes every adult that enters its premises act like they're 13. Megan Hunt was the latest unfortunate victim. I really wanted to slap her hard when she went all Phoebe-stanning-for-Rachel-and-Ross-to-reunite, multiplied-by-700 on us. Just shut the hell up, lady. You don't know anything about the situation.

DeLuca gets Richard Webber's Seal of Approvement. What a shocking development no one could see coming.

So, Alex did a better job than Bailey and Richard by... not actually doing the job and having someone else do it for him instead? K then. And how did those interns even know how to do whatever it is they were doing and why were they dealing with some bureaucratic crap instead of learning about medical procedures? And why does Bailey think it's some kind of a genius move? I don't get it.

What else I don't get: Jo. Her story still makes no sense. "My mother is a runner and she can't be in the same room with me even though she says she loves me". Like, what? 1) When did she say that? and 2) THAT is what you took from that entire conversation with her? Seriously? I get that she's deeply shaken and that her mind is a mess, but that's actually being detached from reality in a "you need to get on meds NOW" kind of way. I'm not sure it was supposed to play out like that.

Oh, and "My baby brought me a penis" is not a thing someone would say and the "Catherine Fox Award" will always be ridiculous.

    I ❤️ you.

She so quickly switched to asking about her father... wonder if she built him up in her head?  Maybe even thought her mother had deliberately kept them apart?  Adopted kids have lots of fantasies about why they were given away...

What's funny is that that's exactly what Ellis did with Maggie/Richard, and Maggie knows that, and she knows Richard, but instead of building a relationship with him, she's dating his stepson. I wonder how Jo feels about that lol.

Does anyone else watch Station 19? It featured a plot where a baby was abandoned at the fire station this week. I am assuming that is not a coincidence?

    Jolex will probably adopt it.

that is a lot of time to invest in the build up of a couple, just to take all hope away from them ever being together again.

Try telling that to Japril fans.

It's part of my spray-on skin research.

He made us skin the fish.

Well, what do you do with the other parts of the fish?

    Oh, that's medical waste.

    Well, that's a crime.

    What... What is it? Uh.

    Oh, that looks like tilapia.

    Yeah, that's good fish.

Lambs in a bag, fish skin on people.

    I mean, what's next here?

Next is the machines come to life and take over the world.

    Never mind.

Right?  I do believe there is a certain type of person that likes going after someone like this because it’s more of a challenge but certainly not everyone.

And usually once they "catch" the person they've been chasing, they move on to someone else.

I just saw a rerun of a season 6 episode where Teddy says she's loved Owen forever, so if nothing else their story would come full circle.

It should have come full circle last season and ended with Owen moving to Germany.

Another thing is, they know that Koracick had a son who had cancer and died and it tore him and his marriage apart.

I thought his son got hit in the head with a baseball bat and died instantly?

I figured they were calling each other sisters because of the complicated relationship.

Amelia is Dereks sister.  So Amelia is Merideth's Sister in Law.  Maggie and Merideth are half sisters.  So Merideth connects all of them and because she's so co-dependent (runs her house like a commune) and has no other family she's decided that they are all sisters.

    Then Jackson is her brother.

Teddy saying that she would do the surgery because Amelia needed Maggie was stupid. It was an aeortic dissention (I think) and while Teddy is a good trauma surgeon, Maggie is the cardio-thoracic surgeon

You do realize Teddy is a cardio thoracic surgeon, right? She used to be Head of Cardio and she trained Cristina Yang.

I cannot get beyond DeLuca's cluelessness regarding Mer being a single mother with three children at home to root for them as a couple.  He's not met them.  He's not interacted with them.  To him they aren't even an afterthought.

DeLuca used to have sleepovers with Maggie at that house all the time, then crashed there for a while on the couch last season. I think Zo even called him Uncle Andrew or something. He's met the kids.

Owen and Amelia have got to be the most ridiculous couple in Grey's history and that is saying a lot when I think back. A single busy doctor, Owen is fostering a baby he hopes to adopt, while Amelia is mentoring, fostering or whatevering the baby's mother, while Owen's ex is pregnant with his baby. Unfreakingbelievable! Writers, when you have to go that far to get a couple to work, they are a disaster.

Idk if it's about trying to get the couple to work as much as it is trying to keep Owen relevant.

This episode is the first time I felt bad for Owen.  I understand his being upset at Betty/Brittany.  Her lies could lose him his child.

It's not his child. He's fostering, not adopting. He always knew it was temporary.

The actress is abysmal. There’s zero emotion or expression coming from her ever. Out of all the actresses they probably could have chosen from how did they end up with her?

She kinda looks like Camilla? Maybe they cast her as Jo's long lost sister.

Then she basically references working for a 20 year old Maggie which isn’t true and is completely offensive.

Was it offensive when Jackson and Callie called her "like 12" or when Cristina said she rode in on her big wheel?

Yes, but I don't think Deluca is only one year below her in the residency program, was he? I think we don't know anyone who should currently be a 5-year resident.

DeLuca was an intern at the end of Season 13 so he's at most a 3rd year resident. He's a year ahead of Glasses.

    @statsgirl

Teddy whining to Owen that Maggie hated her and seemingly not taking any real responsibility for why that was pissed me off. Maggie isn't mad at you because you are pregnant, Teddy (or at least she shouldn't be, IIRC Owen and Amelia weren't technically together at that time), she's mad at you because you have been in Seattle for almost a month and only now told Owen you were pregnant. I didn't like that Owen offered Teddy his job. She was the one that came to Seattle to Grey-Sloan with no plan, she should figure it out. Why can't she take over Bailey's job? Alex doesn't want it.

Shouldn't Teddy be the one judging Maggie for breaking HIPAA?

It's odd because Meredith and Derek actually had a larger age gap; she was mid twenties while he was late 30s. the end of the series or with a guy with far more life experience and maturity.

Lexie was at least 6 years younger than Meredith (since Meredith was 5 when Ellis left Thatcher). In season 7, Lexie's 3rd year of residency, Lexie said she was 27. Which makes Meredith at least 33 in her 4th year of residency. So she had to be at youngest 29 when she began her internship and relationship with Derek.

Their slow-build approach is also refreshing from the usual Grey's Anatomy  "have sex first, talk later" situation.

There have been lots more slow burn relationships than hop-into-bed relationships on this show.
