My only reasoning that some people are against same-sex marriage is reproduction and some people are really big on genetics. This reasoning is so stupid (I'm not saying you're stupid, PRgal, just this reasoning in general). I'm straight, and I guess I should ditch my husband because we don't have kids (I don't want any, and now getting pregnant for me would end in a miscarriage anyway).

I don't want Trump supporters here. I'm tired of always having to be the bigger person. I've already put a few posters on ignore, and I've blocked so many accounts on my social media. I'm so grateful that a lot of my family and people I work with are horrified that Trump was elected (and I live in Alberta, which is the Texas/Florida of Canada).

Canadian here. I don't know if this has been mentioned (I skipped some of this thread) but I've read lots of posts from people about wanting to come to Canada. What scares me most about Trump is that NOWHERE is safe. I'm terrified that one day Trump will wake up and gets angry about some imaginary slight our prime minister made, and decides to nuke Ottawa. Or decides he hates King Charles and decided to drop a bomb on the UK. And he's surrounded himself with "yes" people who will let him do this. He's going to destroy the world, quite literally. And I'm so angry at the Democrats, who don't seem to be doing anything about this. I hope they're doing some investigating of the election behind the scenes, but I doubt it.

I don't think anywhere is safe right now. I'm in Canada, and we have our own little Trump wannabe who will most likely get elected next year. It's scary.

Trump wants this movie to go away forever, so go see it. It's what Trump DOESN'T want!

A lot of people who use wheelchairs are ambulatory users (meaning they can also walk). My husband uses a wheelchair, and when he was a kid he could use a walker to get around. He switched to a wheelchair when he got older because he could get around a lot faster using it! I'm not sure if the actress playing Nessarose is an ambulatory user or not. I've also noticed the term "wheelchair bound" being used a lot, and I hate it! If my husband didn't have his wheelchair, he wouldn't be able to go anywhere. He's not bound to the wheelchair, it gives him freedom to get around. I'm not disabled myself, this is what I have learned from talking to my husband and other disabled people. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk!

I was off last week, but I heard that our heath and safety person came to work with Covid and didn't wear a mask. She's the same person who has sent people home for coming into work with a stuffy nose or a slight cough. This isn't the first time she's come to work with Covid, either. We also have sick leave with pay, so no excuses there. -
Family Ties: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

I'm definitely not the smartest person, and in jr. high and high school my grades dropped a lot. I think because I was being forced to sit through classes that I didn't care for, and (most) of the teachers were burnt out and didn't care-or they only cared about the straight-A students. Once I got out of high school and, many years later, went to college, my grades were much better, I even made the Dean's List. I think it made a difference taking courses that I actually wanted to take, and most of our professors cared and were willing to work with the class when we were having issues. -
A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here
Bookworm 1979 replied to potatoradio's topic in Everything Else
I worked from home during Covid and I was always logged in during business hours. The great thing is I'm a much better worker early in the morning, so I would start extra-early and have seven or eight hours logged in by lunch. Then if I wanted to do some cleaning in the afternoon I could-but I was always logged in and could still respond to any questions as needed. Plus, I was able to get tons of work done because I wasn't constantly being interrupted. My whole job has been overhauled since then (the admin assistant was promoted), so I will probably never get to work from home again. :( I work for the good ol' boys club and don't have a penis, so no danger of me getting to move forward, no matter how hard I work! I'm trying to bide my time until I can qualify for early retirement (still about 12 years away). -
Anticipation for Agatha: It Was Her All Along
Bookworm 1979 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Agatha All Along
Part of me is scared they're going to make Agatha the victim in this thing. Like how she says in the beginning of the trailer that Wanda took all of her magic. Like Agatha was trying to steal Wanda's magic FIRST, Wanda just beat her at her own game! I'm hoping that line was taken out of context, or that the truth is going to come out at some point. After Multiverse of Madness, I don't trust the MCU anymore. -

I'm 45, work 40 hours a week and I'm exhausted every fucking day. Two days off isn't enough. I'm just happy I don't have kids or I would never get a break ever. I have this week off and I'm already tired thinking of all the things I want to get done before I have to go back to work. It never ends. -

My husband has some older relatives who like to share posts like that. They also complain about the younger people not offering their chairs to their elders anymore. My husband is a wheelchair user, so I'm always temped to ask if they would include him in their complaints. Me: So do they expect you to offer them your wheelchair when they enter the room? My husband: Well yeah! 😁 -
FilmNight: Movies you watched recently
Bookworm 1979 replied to Rushmoras's topic in Everything Else About Movies
Thank you!!! On so many message boards for Harry Potter people like to forget that Snape terrified Neville to the point that his boggart was Snape. My theory is that people actually like Alan Rickman, and that's why they get angry when you argue that Snape was a bully to the students who weren't in Slytherin. -
I liked the BtVS movie better than the TV show. I only watched a few episodes of the TV series, and it seemed so serious and depressing to me, so I never stuck with it. Now I can't even like the movie because of Kristy Swanson, but when I was a teenager I loved it.

I watched it last night and I'm not angry about it. I thought it was cute. It exceeded my expectations, but they weren't very high to begin with.
