I remember when they bought the barndo, I looked at the listing photos. At that time the area that was finished as living quarters, IIRC consisted of the kitchen and living/dining room area, plus one bedroom and a bathroom. Then there was a large finished area which looked like it could have been an office area and also big enough to park a car or two in as a showroom. (I have a vague memory that the prior owners did some kind of car restoration business there.) Then attached to the "showroom/office" was the large barn or garage type commercial building area. IIRC the roof on that part was a lot higher than on the other areas of the building.

It's possible that the office/showroom area may have been as well insulated as the finished living quarters, but if it wasn't? I doubt that the Rods added any insulation when they turned it into living space. Didn't they carve out the boys' and girls' bedrooms and a bathroom from that space? And as to the big barn or garage-like part of the structure, I'd be surprised if it was very well insulated to start with. I don't have a clear idea how much of that big space they turned into living quarters. If they're heating and cooling that much space without good insulation it's no wonder their utility bills are high. And as has been suggested, it's possible that big bill covers more than just one month.

The girls' and boys' rooms, the boys' bathroom, and kitchen and dining area were there when the Rods moved in. The room with the checkerboard floor was carved up to become Jill and David's bedroom, bathroom, and possibly the entry hallway.

Is the shelf crooked or the wall (or both)? The gap between the right side and the edge of the wall is not the same at the top and bottom of the shelf.

The wall was put up by master carpenter David Rodrigues, and he probably put up the shelf too, so I'm gonna say both are crooked.

Surprised her toothbrush isn't next to the mouthwash on top shelf.

Such an odd place for the mouthwash and deodorant. Must be extras/backups and not the items currently in use?

As for the printing ministry, David has printed things besides tracts. He did the godawful mailers for Joy Baptist Church after the Rods moved to Ohio, and he printed someone's book. I don't think he printed Jill's book about Amy Foster, but maybe.

I haven't listened to any of his sermons, but others have reported that he has said printing things besides the smiley tracts is too hard.

  3. I am grateful for the Thoughtful Perspectives we bring to discussions.

I've been around since the Mighty Big TV/TWOP days, nearly 20 years! Thank you all for the community and companionship over the years.

She’s 21 and stuck running the entire house by herself and be in a grifting band. She is exhausted. Plus her parents ran off the MM and the other guy. I think she had more suitors and they all ran off. J/D are looking for SIL they can permanently mooch off.

I remember MM, but not a second suitor for Renée. Though I have no doubt that any potential suitors swiftly remove themselves upon being grilled by Jill and David.

They need the "meek" sons-in-law who will accept and thank them for their corrections, like Jonathan.

I died laughing. She is so shallow and vile. No one cares about your dumb trip that you paid 10x than what’s it’s worth. Dummy plexus scammed you.

I'm loving her smiley faces and note in the second picture, complete with hand drawn frowny face, "this means inconsistent or quarreling. ☹️"

So they did pay extra to stay another day. I believe the rate was $269/day just for the room.

Where does this endless stream of money come from for stuff like this?

I believe it is $269 per person per night, so $540 before taxes and fees for the two of them to spend another night.

Surely Jill will announce the new Keller fb page soon. If Kaylee and Renee have joined mama's downline, Nurie won't be left out.

Jill announced that Nurie and Nathan joined her downline about 2 years ago because they both had "health goals they wanted to overcome" and saw that Plexus was the solution.

Guessing that fizzled out because they didn't actually join, or had no sales/didn't create socials to generate sales, or Nathan didn't know they had joined Jill's downline until Jill posted about it and he then told Nurie "no."

  7. As I recall, the Derick was fired narrative arose because Jill and Derick initially did nothing to refute that belief after TLC's tweets that they hadn't worked with him in months, which i think suited his religious persecution narrative-he changed his twitter headline to something about not compromising his values to keep his voice around the time of the TLC statements. I tend to believe the "quit" narrative for the following reasons.

    1) Jill and Derick were not part of the end of season interview episode that aired after Joy's wedding. It was filmed in June 2017, just after Joy and Austin returned from their honeymoon. Jill and Derick were on a "babymoon" before Sam's birth (Sew Sumi, former contributer to this forum, sleuthed this out.) If Jill and Derick were still under a contract at this time, they would have been obligated to participate in that episode.

    2) Sam's birth wasn't filmed because they were no longer under a contract for the show at the time of his birth.

    3) On or about Joy's first anniversary in May 2018, Derick posted about his 1 year anniversary of being free from his contract to film the show. The tweet has since been deleted, but at the time, many people assumed he was talking about a contract with TLC. Now we know he meant the contract with MAD Studios.

I remember that many people assumed that Sam's birth was filmed but not shown because of the traumatic events, and then Derick started tweeting about hospital bills being covered when TLC. We now know that his statements were about Israel's birth, but Derick's tweets about Jazz and Nate were also made around this time, followed by TLC's statement about not working with him, which reinforced the Derick was fired narrative.

The issue of contracts has been murky for years because as someone else pointed out, Derick had said he did not have a contract with TLC (which turned out to be true, as he had a contract with MAD Studios, not TLC), but part of the reason they returned to the States is that TLC did not want to continue to film them in Central America, and Derick said they had to return because of the TLC contract. I think that TLC may have said they weren't going to continue to film them, as TLC was not obligated to do so under their contract with MAD Studios, and Jim Bob didn't like that so he said they had to return due to Jill and Derick's contract with MAD Studios. (I haven't read Jill's book, so I'm making an assumption here.)

Not to give Derick too much credit here, but I think he carefully worded his statements about contracts for the show so that he was not lying, but he was not transparent about his contract with MAD Studios vs the MAD Studios contract with TLC, and he did not clarify assumptions that he was under contract with TLC, as opposed to a production studio.

I love how they misspelled gospel (hospel) in the second line.

It's also a little unclear, they say the undergraduate part is for men, but the "ladies" (siiiiigh) masters program says it follows the undergraduate part.

There are two "majors" at the undergraduate level. The Pastoral Theology major is only for men. The Christian Education major is open to men and women.

Because every 20-year-old American male wants a teddy bear.

sure to hear later, “Philip loves and honors his mother so much that he graciously and generously gifted me the teddy bear that he so desperately wanted for his own room to remind him that his Mama loooooooves him…my children have such a HEART for giving their treasures away [I sure don’t because I thrive on clutter] because they know their TRUE treasure is in heaven. Hallelujah! Jesus Is KING!!”

Wondering if the bear is the special Build-a-Bear that each Rodlet gets for their 15th birthday? Just when kids want a special teddy bear....

If confronted, Jill would probably claim that the birthday "cakes" made out of Little Debbies are a "family tradition" and that the kids would be disappointed if they didn't get one.

You are right.  Years ago, she posted a picture of some more artfully stacked snack cakes along with the caption that the birthday kid requested the exact cake!

Jill did an insane Welcome to my Plexus team video in 2016. Her team is named The Sparkling Jewels of Faith.

Best Jillism in the video - jill hopes you reach your health goals and maybe your financial goals, if you want to pursue the business part of Plexus so "why not shoot two birds with one stone and do both"   😂

In an August 2017 blog post she says she has been with plexus for about a year.

    https://rodriguesfamilyministries.com/main/?p=3323

That reminds of an Jillism. When Nurie and Nathan joined her downline, Jill said they joined because they both had some health goals to overcome.

Are bangs an age-related rite of passage for the Rodlettes?  I feel like Hannah is on the verge of showing up with a fresh haircut of side-part bangs.

Jill once posted on her blog that Hannah can't have bangs. I don't think it was related to her age since Olivia and Tessie both had bangs at the time of the post.

Jill did not provide an explanation as to why Hannah can't have bangs.

Yeah my non-twin sister and I look more alike than they do.  So much so that we actually had t-shirts made that say "yes we're sisters, no we're not twins" because we seem to always be asked those questions when new people see us together.  I wonder if they are actually fraternal twins that people assumed were identical at birth due to being the same gender.  Not sure when our medical technology advanced enough to tell the difference in utero, and once they are born, most parents don't care as long as there aren't medical issues.

The doctors may have been able to determine that they were identical at birth if there was only one placenta or one amniotic sac.

Jill has to make  everything about herself.  I wonder if she talks about how Janessa is missing the connection between the two brain hemispheres in her birthday post to her.

Of course she will because the evil doctors presented potential outcomes and options when Janessa had the in utero stroke, and termination of the pregnancy was one of those options,
