  1. I absolutely loved this episode.  It showed to me, how truly damaged Rick was after being in captivity so long. It showed me that Michonne was taking different tacks to get through to Rick.

Andy and Danai are always so good together.

For me, this was one of the best episodes in the entirety of TWD.

A lot has happened since the very first show.  How his character has grown, I just don't see him attempting it now.

Maybe after he found something with Richonne he might not have at that time

Sadly, since Rick was "saved" by Jadis, he's been in captivity for 5 years. He kept trying to escape, to the point his captors put him on an actual leash. To escape that torment, he chose to cut off his own hand only to be captured again.

I don't see him choosing to end his own life after all that particularly out of character, given the givens now

  3. I am so damn happy to have Rick Grimes back. I dipped out of WDverse(minus the series finale )after his final episode and this was so satisfying.

I don't even mind that he lost his hand because it was by his own hand for a good reason.

    Lastly, RICHONNE!

  4. Wild speculation/musings as to why they might purchase a property of that size and in Connecticut

-Maybe restore and redecorate. Business investment? Or just investment or trust for their families?

-It is closer to New York where JDM and Hilarie live, who are two of their closest friends, especially HiIarie and Danneel.

-Maybe something to do with their production company?

-Maybe Jensen is getting a Soldier Boy spinoff and needs to be closer to Toronto for easier commute?

Does anyone even know what the Denver Nuggets is thinking about right now & who are they rooting for tonight? They're basically an afterthought even since they swept the Lakers & they'll probably be an afterthought during the Finals.

My guess, as a Nuggets fan, is they want Miami, since that gives Denver home court advantage.

First Finals for you guys, right? How exciting and good luck to them.

Yup. First Finals.  It's awesome! I'm especially happy for Jamal Murray after his ACL injury. I just love the players. Largely unselfish and just a great gotdamn team. So excited!

Now that I understand they're doing Alpha versions of classic monsters, it's almost a disappointment in hindsight that the Alpha Vamp wasn't Dracula, Nosferatu or at least someone as cool as them. That's one of the problems I always had with low-budget shows like this, they pull their punches and make their monsters look too much like humans instead of something actually monstrous and inhuman. It's boring. Remember Coppola's Dracula from '92 starring Gary Oldman?

It could be more about the show itself being unable to get the rights to really use those specific characters as much as anything. They could name drop Dracula in s4 because the shifter wasn't actually supposed to be Dracula in the show.  The show may have wanted to continue crafting their own original vampire lore of which they would hold the rights IMHO

  10. I am so okay with how this all turned out. It doesn't change Dean's demise but makes it much less empty. Dean got a decent "final" hunt that had purpose and meaning.  And it still leaves room for a limited reboot.

If this is the final season, I can accept that ending.

He didn't share that Holy water was effective with John?

As I recollect it was said on the mother ship not many hunters worked in collaboration and he and John IIRC weren't exactly friendly as John was not friendly with many people during his hunting days. Samuel said in ItB they didn't trust other hunters much.

Daniel Elkins himself might have never learned about it if they didn't communicate during this time.

If it didn't kill them nor really stop them for that long, John may not thought it was worthwhile to use.

Ultimately, if all if this is going to be a memory wipe or alternate universe, this John is not going to remember it anyway.

  12. It's entirely possible that the only person(s) who knew about holy water harming vampires are dead by the time John and later Dean and Sam, hunt. Its also entirely possible it was never documented or that  information was gotten rid of by vampires or anyone who didn't want it known.

For all of the things that are changed or removed or undone and redone re lore in the mother ship to this show, this bit of unknown (as in never mentioned one way or the other) is small potatoes IMO. And not IMO, indicative of the writers not knowing what they are doing.

  13. I thought Tom Welling did a good job of capturing some of Samuel's gruffness and hard edge. Was it exactly the same? No, but that's okay IMO. Were Matt Cohen and Jake Abel's Michael exactly the same? No but it still worked. Were Christian Key's and Jensen's Michael exactly the same? No, but the essence was there, much like Tom's version  of Samuel v Mitch Peleggi's.

As to Samuel, wanting to keep Mary safe, I can believe it for this part of the story.

I can also see room for Samuel changing after all this much like John changed after Mary died. Even in this show we see John is already dealing with some emotional and mental health issues like what is now called PTSD. So him becoming the John we mostly saw in SPN doesn't strike me as a huge reach.

Maybe Samuel became a much harder man that didn't trust other hunters etc, between the John and Mary of this show and the John and Mary in ITB because of whatever happens with the Akrida.

  14. I squealed when it was revealed that Dean is the person that gave John the letter. It's kind of like Dean telling John to buy the Impala. So now I wonder if Dean is still in this time or he's had to go back to Heaven? I'm also going to be a ok with however they make this work.

hn felt a little off this week, his mood was all over the place for no reason. He was being his normal cute flirty self with Mary, then he got really intense and "we have zero tolerance for monsters here" with Ada when he announced that they have to hunt down her son, then he was back to normal, it was weird.

I think that comes down to John's PTSD. Yes, I know there was no technical book definition of it back then which doesn't change it existence at that time.

  16. To me, Mary is between between Amy Gumenick and Sam Smith's.

From the jump I've felt like Mary already knows something about John. Which makes me wonder if this is after she made the deal for John's life and before Dean was born.  Like maybe Mary has actually gone back in time herself from 1973 to 1972 to try and change things so that the deal never happens? And Dean is watching her do it all thus the narration?

  17. When the question of why we would want to see a story about characters that we already know their end, especially for  characters who takes a dark turn, my first thought goes to my Better Call Saul. No spoilers here:

Don't get me wrong, by no means am I saying this show is/will be anywhere near the quality of BCS, just more that we know what happened to Saul in Breaking Bad and they still managed to give such a rich backstory to him and still created tension and drama and humor on the way.  If we get even a fraction of that kind of storytelling, this will be a success.

That's what I like about prequels. We know what happens to certain characters but we don't know why or always how they get there.  I think The Winchesters will have an even more tragic turn to what happens eventually.

ave a different issue:  if this was supposed to be March in Kansas, the weather sure was warm and sunny!

I thought they started out in Kansas and then said they were going to New Orleans for the remainder of the hunt/story?
