But I  just watched Matthews--with guest Fahrenthold--and kind of worry because there are so many scandals with Trump, something new every week (almost every day) that they all seem to disappear within 72 hours. NO ONE is talking about Cuba--or the foreign investment conflicts--all overshadowed by Alicia Machado, and the investigation of the Trump Foundation, and half a dozen other things.

Nothing sticks.  Meanwhile, the refrain still hurts Hillary: "Benghazi, email, foundation, trust" even though there's not much to any of them.  I'm not sure we need more revelations or just to focus on some of the old ones long enough to permanently damage Trump's "brand" with some of them.

It seems like "All-In" has stopped doing their ongoing list of Trump's last ten things that would have disqualified anyone else.  It's a pity, not only because it reminded viewers of old stuff (which, for the Orange Menace, means yesterday's stuff), but also because it served as a reminder of the sheer magnitude of Trump's horribleness.  Furthermore, it filled in gaps on things that I missed because I blinked or needed to take a breather from the constant horror show that is his campaign.

  2. To add to what Scorpios and Bama have said, the incident with the Hand ninjas happened in Daredevil Season 2, so after we saw Claire in Jessica Jones.  The last we saw Claire in DD 2, she was telling off the hospital administrators and quitting her job rather than participate in the cover up.  Based on what she told her mother in this episode, she was blacklisted and can't find another hospital job.

Claire's position is such an interesting one since--as the character who's been on all 3 shows--she has the bigger picture of all the "arcane abilities" that are popping up everywhere.  I suppose Luke and Jessica would be next, since they know about each other and Kilgrave.  It seems likely that

    Spoiler

Iron Fist will introduce them (or Luke, at least) to the mysticism angle.  I wonder if Matt will pop up on that series, too, or if he won't find out about the others until Defenders.  I've been following each episode by listening to the Podcast Fandom discussion of it, and for this one they wondered if the introduction of Chitauri tech means that we'll see Inhumans on the Netflix properties, since Agents of Shield is part of the MCU continuity.

(tagged for mildly spoilerish speculation about Iron Fist and Defenders)

  3. It's not specifically about RVs or trailers, but "Texas Flip and Move" has a variety of home types (including trailers, containers, rail cars, and small conventional houses).  No McMansions, though, since the houses have to be small enough to move.  There are also four different teams of flippers, so it takes longer to get stale, I think.

I became familiar with Nina Turner when she regularly appeared as a commentator on The Ed Show.  She is known for her no-nonsense take downs and suffers fools lightly.  She was also the one who kept viewers abreast of the shady goings-on in Ohio, particularly the blatant voter suppression attempts back in 2012 and even now.  Although she doesn't necessarily agree with Governor Kasich, she credited him with being able to reach across the aisle to get things done such as the expansion of Medicaid in his state when so many other GOP governors bit off their partisan noses to spite their faces to the detriment of their constituents.

Speaking of which, has anyone on MSNBC mentioned Reince Preibus' threat to people like Governor Kasich who refuses to endorse Trump?

Ah, I remember the days when I enjoyed seeing Nina Turner on MSNBC!  Sadly, her appearances over the past year have really eroded that feeling.

I saw it on someone's show, but I can't recall whose.  I'm guessing it was All In, or maybe Rachel, since those are the only ones I watch with any regularity.

On a side note, I think of this thread every time they air the MSNBC promo with Hillary making a snarky comment about Andrea Mitchell.  The ad must have been put together by the same geniuses who thought that the guy was sincerely complimenting Chris Matthews during the DNC.  "Look and see how people you respect can't take our on-air talent seriously!  Isn't it great?!  Please, watch our network!"

  5. My impression is that part of her appeal is being the wildcard judge who fits into more than one genre, thereby garnering the artists who don't want to make the "safe" choice or be boxed in.  I don't know much about her, but I think she's pretty commercially successful, so that's in her favor as well.  Plus, she's a Disney star; I imagine that some younger contestants may look at her the way others look at Alicia Keys.

Miley can sing, right?  As in, she's got actual chops, not just the wacky shtick?  I think we've heard the other judges sing this season, but not her (yet).

Speaking girlfriends, I hated the anvil of the police admin assistant (or whatever she was) telling Nancy that Jonathan must love her to have acted the way he did. I thought it was obvious that he lost it after Steve mocked Will's death, and all the anger and grief came bubbling out. I never thought it was about Nancy.

I thought the exact same thing!  When Flo (the admin) made that comment, I was so confused because Nancy didn't correct her assumption.

    Some new nonsense.

I saw this, too.  What I loved is that the first 26 replies to the tweet are people re-dragging Fox in general, and Walden in particular, for this continued f*ckery and thinking that people will "come back" for the show without Nicole.  Reply #27 was basically, "Woo hoo! Season 4 is going to be great!"

I feel that those 27 replies accurately reflect the state of the [mostly former] Sleepy Hollow fandom.

  8. ^^^ Captanne, according to what Jessie told Cassidy, Tracey Loach (coma-girl) was a popular and beloved teenager in Annville.  Eugene fell for her, but when he confessed his feelings, she rejected him.  He got a shotgun and attempted a murder-suicide, which left her in a coma, him with obvious injuries, and the town with a raging hate-on.

As other posters have pointed out, there are some potential holes in the story, most notably the fact that Eugene is not in a juvenile detention center somewhere for attempted murder.  Sure, his dad's the sheriff, but it seems unlikely that citizens who feel such seething vitriol would stand for Eugene to go free (especially since, IIRC, the first episode established that the sheriff is elected).

In any event, that was Jessie's original rationalization about being okay with sending Eugene to hell--that the kid was going there eventually.

  9. Here's an interesting, mildly spoilery, breakdown of the trailer:  A Deep Analysis of the 'American Gods' Trailer.  "Deep Analysis" is somewhat hyperbolic; the article doesn't give away much plot, mostly just character information.  The only stuff I'd call spoilers would be regarding

    Laura:

    Spoiler

her death, the circumstances of her death, and her not being all-the-way dead

    Bilquis:

    Spoiler

"orgasm of death" (their words, not mine)

  10. Oh, look, it's Abbie's distant cousin!  **headdesk**

    ETA

Okay, it occurs to me that they might try to give him a partner who is not the other Witness.  I'm not sure if that's better or worse.  You know what, both scenarios suck because this whole deal sucks.  Off to watch Queen Sugar and Luke Cage trailers again!

Which means either A) the CBS show being only 13 episodes means the shooting schedules don't overlap, or B) those rumors about season 4 of Black Sails being its last might be true (honestly the story is getting close to the point where it makes sense to set up Treasure Island and be done with it - I love the show but I'd rather it go out on a creative high then be stretched on forever).

Now we have our answer. *sob*

I guess we'll see more of these announcements coming out:  Toby Stephens Takes Co-Star Lead Opposite Gerard Butler In ‘Hunter Killer’

    ETA:

And here's another:  ‘The 100’ Promotes Zach McGowan to Series Regular for Season 4.  I've been dancing around starting to watch "The 100" due to the mix of very good things and very bad things I've heard about it.

  12. Agree with all the Chris love!  Here's some info (from their tweets) on today's coverage if you're trying to avoid certain . . . personalities:

Joy Reid will be doing a special report on this week at 5pm.  Jonathan Capehart (whom I enjoy as long as he isn't anchoring) will be on with her.

Chris* is staying in Dallas to do the 6pm - 8pm block tonight.

I'm a little bit bothered (putting it in this tread should maybe be in the MSNBC thread) that they have a few of their big names in Dallas and sent nobody here to the Twin Cities and didn't keep people in Baton Rouge and here.  I think Trymaine was in Baton Rouge earlier in the week.

NEXTITERATION, I though of you when I saw his tweet because the first reply was "right, because there's no story in Baton Rouge or St. Paul."  I totally understand the sentiment, but felt kind of bad for Chris (who probably goes where the network sends him).

  13. I hate that these tragedies are happening, but I generally feel a bit better when it's Chris who's covering them, especially on the ground.  He seems to genuinely care for and respect the people he interviews, shown in things like extending his condolences to the rapid transit chief and expressing his relief that Mark Hughes is okay.  He and Trymaine Lee are MSNBC's best on location team, I think.

  14. Even with all of the pain and anguish of this week's violence, the #shadyhollow dragging has resumed on Twitter.  My favorite from today was when a fan tweeted at Nick Gonzalez that she's still annoyed that we never heard about Luke after Macey was possessed.  His response:

    Quote

Beyond annoyed and right there with you. Luke was done wrong, but, alas -- Past is past.

ARGH, I hate the barn doors! Unless you are actually converting a barn into a residence, they don't go.  Stop with that - if you don't have the space for a real door, put in a pocket door and move on with your life!

Sometimes I find them aesthetically pleasing, but they seem like they'd be such a pain to move (especially if they get stuck on the track).  I imagine that I would just leave them open instead of trying to close them, which would defeat the purpose of having the bloody door in the first place!
