3 min in and I am already annoyed but loving the daddy snark at her rock climbing video. I only watch this trash for the forum!

Jessica she is lying to you...Whit eats all day every day.

Hanging rock? Too bad this isn't Australia then she might disappear along with those girl in "Picnic at hanging rock"

Did you notice how absolutely crushed  NitWhit looked when daddy disparaged her “Whit- Athon”?  It always disgusts me how desperately she needs his approval for all of her hare - brained schemes.

I do have to agree with her on one thing however, that over - the - top act of sexual aggressiveness on Buddy’s part was a bit too much to believe.  ( And apparently she’s right, because in the previews for next week, he calls her and tells her they broke up! )

I just saw that movie again on TCM awhile back!

She could very well have said that. Given all that we have seen in the intervening time it is probably another of her grand delusions. The most recent being that her enormous gut are really abs and should be on display as frequently as possible.

Actually, IIRC, what she said was they “ Crossed The Fleshold”.  Gag.  Whether it’s true or not, I’ve  no idea.

So far, my favorite characters this season have been Todd & the Kitties.

I miss Mr. Piggy!  He was by far the most entertaining.

So I'm probably beating around the bush a little too much, I work in HIV/AIDS which is an incredibly complex, very data driven, expensive issue where the client base tends to be very high needs medically and socially, so you see everyone from doctors and nurses to lawyers, data scientists, compliance officers. A masters or a BSN, RN is not uncommon with a relatively low level case manager level because clients are often incredibly complex as far as needs go and their problems can be really intertwined. Like where do you start with a homeless, currently injectable drug using person that has untreated CDC defined AIDS?

I think I owe you an apology John, I was very presumptuous when I inferred that my former career was anything like what you’re doing.  It’s obviously not, I guess I just made assumptions from one post and I shouldn’t have.  I was merely a credit counselor for people who had no idea how to budget their income.  Having lost too many good friends to AIDS through the years, my hat is off to you for what you do.

Without getting to far in to specifics of my job, imagine if someone said you can buy a brand new BMW, like a 5 series and they would make your car payment for you every month and all you had to do for this car was give them the car payment bill every month by say the 14th of the month.

And your life became "Hey, I got a phone call and they said they are going to repossess my car if I don't give them $2,000 by the end of the week! I thought you were going to pay for this?!" for hours a month explaining over and over again, "Remember these dozen times over the last two months I have contacted you saying I need your bill? Yeah, you never sent it to me." "Well, I know, I've been busy, can you just fix it?"

    This is my life.

Not to get off the topic too far, but you just described what I did for a living 30 years ago!  Ha! I know EXACTLY what you mean, you tell them how much money they need to bring you every week, in order for them to keep their car, the lights on,  water, etc.. then when they don’t, and their lights get shut off, it’s YOUR fault. At least that was MY experience many times.

Was the plant anywhere near Fort Wayne? We had 1. I remember it because I remember the Nestle logo on the front of the building. I think it was somewhere between my house at the time & the airport (maybe on/near the connector here to Interstate 69, or near the GM Truck Manufacturing Plant that’s in the same area). I know I saw it enough to remember the logo on it & pretty much the only way that I saw anything that much was on the way to or from the airport (I used to travel a lot before my health went south a few years ago).

    No, it was Kokomo.  :)

We have or had some kind of Nestle-related plant in my Northeast Indiana hometown. I can’t remember what they do/did.

I’ll bet you smelled like cookies when you worked with the honey & oats & everyone noticed. A competing food manufacturer has a commercial where a woman who (supposedly) works for the company says people notice she smells like “cookies” whenever she goes to the store after work because she works with the honey & oats combo too.

The whole plant reeked of it! No matter what we were running, it was a strong sweet scent that clung to you.  It’s funny you should say that because I live in Indiana!  It’s probably the same plant.  Small World!

I miss two products made by Oscar Meyer. One was called Sandwich Spread and it came plastic wrapped, shaped like a large capsule. The other was packaged the same way but it was their Braunschweiger liverwurst.

It's been at least ten years since I saw the Sandwich Spread in the stores. I was buying the liverwurst as recently as a year and a half ago, but now all the grocery stores in my area stopped carrying it.

I ate what I called L & L's (liverwurst and lettuce) or Sandwich Spread sandwiches practically everyday from first grade all the way through high school (except for Fridays which was PB & J day). Of course this was a long time ago.

But I still miss those products even to this day.

I just bought some Oscar Mayer liverwurst from My local Kroger’s yesterday,  and I remember the sandwich spread because my dad used to eat it. But I miss this shelf- stable chicken salad you used to be able to get ( not Underwood’s),  it was called “ Spreadables” and it came in a can a little bigger and flatter than a tuna can, there might’ve been a ham flavored one too, but it wasn’t deviled.

I too lament the departure of planters cheese balls. I grew up eating their peanut butter. I also miss Nabicos Royal Lunch Milk Crackers, and their Brown Edges Wafers.  There’s a suitable substitute for the milk crackers usually available in the international food section of Meijers, or World Market called “Burton’s Rich Tea Biscuits.”  And I was thrilled when they started making Bomono’s Turkish Taffy again!  And speaking of Jello 1-2-3, did anyone else like “Whip N Chill?  It was my first experience with  any kind of mousse and I loved it.  I think my mom bought it so much because it had fewer calories than pudding.

The talk of Carnation malted milk a few pages back reminded me of Carnation Instant Breakfast Bars.  Man, did I love those things and nothing that is made now tastes like them. With the popularity of breakfast bars and energy bars, I don't see why these haven't made a comeback. I loved the chocolate chip ones the most.

*I just googled it and found a facebook page about bringing them back.

I couldn’t help but respond to your post.  About a million years ago I worked where they were manufactured.  It was a really good job actually, we had a lot of fun, but the employees personal favorite was the “ honey & Oats”  because it smelled the best while you were working with it. If I had to run to the store after work, people in line would tell me all the time that I smelled like cookies! :)

Eta: Nestle bought out carnation, and we were the last ones to make the breakfast bars.  Our plant closed in 1995.

  9. So, this afternoon I was playing my favorite game: Gin Rummy Plus on my phone. And you never know who you’re going to be playing with, Just how many coins you’re willing to play for. Anyway, who should pop up but, wait for it.......

OW Mah Leg! James K!!!!   I saw his name first , then looked at his picture, and sure enough!  It was him! It was very surreal. I thought you guys would get a kick out of this, and I figured this would be the thread to post it on.  Btw, I won. Ha!

  10. I have another theory.  I think the reason Josh became so unhinged with Dr Now was because if she has cancer, then she needs him.  As we all know, Josh has an almost pathological fear of abandonment which we learned from the first episode.  So, as long as she’s fat, sick, and/or helpless, he’s relevant.  It’s co-dependency at its worst.  Someone should tell him he’s got a job for life, she’s not going anywhere.

also, my mom died of cancer. Bettie Jo is a POS.

It always infuriates me when these 600lb patients say they are on the road or in a hotel so a big fat juicy burger and fries is their only option.  Remember James with his gf who claimed their car was broken so they had no choice but to go out and get fraaayyyyed rice and egg rolls?  An Uber could have taken them to the grocery store for a few dollars.  Anyway....these people always say they have no choice.  As you point out Configdot.....you can get a roasted chicken readily available, get some carrots (if you can't cook), fruit, sliced beef or turkey from the deli section, oatmeal and blueberries or yogurt.  If they have a microwave in the hotel you can cook frozen vegetables and even eggs to cook up.  But instead they opt for pizza or hamburgers cause they have no choice.  Why not a burger (no cheese) and take off the bread and have the beef, tomato, onion, pickles etc and wrap it in the lettuce.  Subway sandwiches are readily available and for an option get one of their fresh options that are lower in calorie with turkey, chicken even roast beef......get the light mayo or just have some mustard and no cheese.  I do this a lot when I am hungry for something already made for me when I am too lazy to do myself and want something more like other people.  Salads are readily available at all fast food places (request light dressing).  Snacks are sugar free jell-o or puddings if you are craving.  Apple slices, Fiber One bars for sweet tooth cravings or SkinnyPop.  All available at fhe grocery store.  Grocery stores do sell more than cookies, sodas, cakes, and potato chips. This shows you these people search for every excuse possible to just eat what they want not taking responsibility for their actions.  Even James with his Chinese food cravings could have opted for hit and sour soup and broccoli beef for the same flavors without the friiiiiiiiiiiiiied rice, eggroll, and sweet and sour sauce options.  There ARE other options beside fried chicken, cheeseburgers and pizza.  Anyways.....laziness on ALL these people.  When I crave a BigMac, I chop up a homemade burger patty, slice some onions, drizzle on some low calorie thousand island dressing and fill up a pita bread with the concoction and you get the same flavors.  Now I am craving a damn pizza!  Curse you, ya 600lb patients who pizza on TV when I'm hungry.   Grrrrrrrr

ADDING.....The comments when they have to weigh in......."Dr Now is going to be mad at me for not sticking to my diet."  Or "Dr Now doesn't want me to eat XYZ."

NO DAMN IT.  It's not for him....it's for YOU!

I'm sure I have more to bitch about....sorry for rambling on.

She was "dragged" to Texas....oh puuuhhhllleeeeeseeeee Shanee!  I wonder how many Whoppers you can get for $75?  Dr Now, TLC or the powers that be ought to sue HER for reHAMbursement for medical care, therapy visits, etc she basically STOLE from them.

    Well said!!!!

They did say out of the box, but you're right. I did see her eat out of Styrofoam, so maybe that's what they meant. I know people use dry ramen in salad toppings, so I was kinda thinking maybe you could eat pasta like that, as icky as dry and boring as that would be.

I saw that too, but considering the junk food version of the Comstock Lode she’s surrounded by, I’m skeptical that she’d have to resort to that.

It's scary because that 600-pound mom had those same symptoms... she was in one of those early TLC specials (when they were just figuring out that we liked fat people and dwarves, although I find nothing interesting in watching the little people... they're perfectly dull, just little, but I digress).  Anyway, they literally get so fat that they almost suffocate themselves if they sit the wrong way or lie down the wrong way or whatever. They get smothered in their own fat.

The 600+ pound mom died... it was really sad. But when she was alive she sat naked in that bed and whined and carried on like a gigantic infant. I got the feeling that she had the emotional brain of a five-year-old. When her daughters didn't bring her food, she threatened to kick them out of the house. She was ruthless and cruel and delusional. Very sad case.

    And she left this erf.

    I know, right?

    You described that so well.

That would be Dominique, the Haitian woman. I remember she sprinkled that weight loss powder all over her unhealthy fried food, and was amazed when she gained weight. She was a piece of work. If I recall, she even had the nerve to call 911 while she was in the rehab hospital to come and get her because they wanted to make her get up and walk!

I liked that she came from Indianapolis, because that's where I live.  In that opening establishing shot, I was trying to figure out where they were filming it from.  I could see Salesforce Tower in the background.  I need to take a longer look at that.

An unfortunate ending.  She needs to lose the weight, but she just doesn't have the psychological strength to do it.  I usually don't get angry at the participants, more frustrated.  I am finding that this season is a lot less exploitative than last season.

I loved the part where Dr. Now said "You have been in your body for 28 years but I have been practicing medicine for twice that long."  Sick burn!

Next week's episode seems to be the finale of the regular season.  After that, they move into followups from previous years.

I love that parable.  I think of that a lot when someone points to the indifference of God.

I like how Whitney automatically shuts the person down when they wonder if it might be their cat, Mr. Bingley. "He couldn't be your cat, he doesn't look like he's been lost for long enough. I wasn't really looking for his owner, just wanted attention for myself, so I'm keeping him!"

We had a big, fat, fluffy orange cat hanging out in our neighborhood and taking up residence in my neighbor's  window sill for 6 months before somebody could catch him and take him to a shelter. Nobody in the neighborhood knew whose cat he was, but he sure got around. Looked healthy the whole time, too.

Not only does she shut that guy down, she also says “proof of ownership required” WTF?! How are you supposed to do that? Show her a picture? Vet records?  I’m with you, she had no intention of giving him up in the first place, it’s just a bid for attention and adoration for her “ humanitarianism “ for taking in this poor little kitty and giving it a good (?) home.

I have ashes from two dearly loved cats that, while I was moving houses, the movers didn't pick up for me. I made a special trip to the old house, despite the fact that I was fully moved in except for a few things, to make sure I got the ashes. I don't care if someone broke in and stole the few meager belongings I'd left, but if they made off with the ashes I'd have never forgiven myself.

My cats' ashes came sealed, so I wondered why Shitty was even able to play around with Piggy's remains at all, until I realized, some people like to spread ashes. Mine are staying where they are. Some of us skydivers like to do "ash dives" where we jump with and release the ashes into the sky with the cremains of our loved ones, but I can't bring myself to part with even a fraction of them.

I used to earn extra money by doing just that! YAHOO!!

Maybe, her length of credit history was too short or they wanted a lower interest rate, based on Glen's good credit. But, at any rate, I would assume that Whit makes AT LEAST $50,000. per year from the show alone. And, I'm being modest.  I would guess at least twice that or more. People who make much less are approved for adoptions.  Hmmm....still, I would be more concerned with my health in her situation.

Actors historically have trouble getting credit.  Case in point: I’m friends with an extremely well known actress, and it wasn’t until she signed a contract for a television series, that she and her husband qualified for a home loan. Even then, the loan was only for the length of the contract, not for a traditional 30 yrs. ( granted, her salary was sufficient to re-pay the loan in a short amount of time.) and this was a prime time series, not a half baked “ reality” show.  So....

If I had ever dared to give my mother orders in the tone of voice that Whitney employs, she would have let me know in no uncertain terms that she was a fully functioning adult, capable of making her own decisions, and not interested in taking crap from the person she'd birthed. I am starting to truly loathe Whitney, but her parents are not exactly prize packages themselves. How they can look at themselves in the mirror, or their friends and family in the eye after getting involved in this shit show is beyond me.

I was kind of relieved when the Hawaiian portion of the storyline ended without having to watch Whitney lumber through a hula class. I should have known she was capable of cultural misappropriation even without the benefit of an actual class.

I think Whitney AND Hunter are incredibly spoiled and disrespectful to their parents. If my daughter spoke to me like Twit does, I’d be like, “Molly Get The Mop”!  She’d be picking herself up off of the floor of that car.

In 2012 I decided I wanted to PR in the marathon, so I started walking about 50 miles a week and watching my diet to make sure I would be lighter (less weight to carry) and in amazing physical shape. Once I got below 155 lb (at 5'11"), which is smack in the middle of the healthy BMI range, people started telling me I looked "gross." Seriously. They said I looked gross, TO MY FACE. I ignored them, got to 150 lb, and walked a marathon in 5:44 (a 46-minute personal best). Fuck 'em. Know that it is fueled by jealousy!
