Calling on @ShellyB if she still gets the bat signal from this place. I believe she said that the idea of an extended training camp was introduced during her tenure on the team in the 90s.  I'd be curious to know how they explained this new way of doing things. Was it because it was truly so difficult to narrow down the talent, or were there other reasons?

I'd also be curious to know if it was always 5 nights a week, all summer long, or if it started out shorter or fewer nights a week and grew from there.

Received…technically, my Rookie season, Training Camp lasted until the first game. We were told that cuts would be made during TC, however, they could be happen at anytime throughout the season, and often there were seasonal casualties. We took our squad photo in late June, along with our headshots, so for the most part, our squad was pretty much decided by July. During my second year, the new girls were referred to as Training Camp Candidates, and were also told cuts would last through the summer. We took our squad photo that year in mid July, along with headshots. Pretty sure during most of my 5 yr tenure, photos were in July. Rehearsals have always been 4-5 nights a week, sometimes on the weekends if you were on Show Group….we would have 8 hour rehearsals, for 1-2 weekends to learn all show choreography…kind of like a mini camp. With all of this being said, auditions were in April, usually the first or second weekend for Prelims and Semis, then the last weekend for Finals. The two weeks in between Semis and Finals were for our individual interviews.

Okay, I am going to need some help on a predicament I have stumbled upon. Originally in my first draft of my DCC name database I had found 11 girls with the name Kim. When I started doing my final draft, I had found an additional girl that went by the name Kim on the DCC squad photo and trading cards, but Pompedia had her as Kimberly. So technically the tally should be at 12 for the name Kim but, I have only found 10 + the Kim that was under Kimberly. Am I missing someone, or did I just add in an extra number incorrectly? Here are the names I have so far.

    1. Kim Patterson (1970)
    2. Kim Kilway (1978, 1979, 1980)
    3. Kim McKenney (1978, 1979)
    4. Kim Rockel (1981, 1982)
    5. Kim Bateman (1982, 1983, 1984)
    6. Kim Chapman Oden (1982, 1983)
    7. Kim Stevens (1984, 1985, 1986)
    8. Kim Wiman (1985)
    9. Kim Fillmon (1990)
    10. Kim Sivils (1999)
    11. Kim Nicole Tong (2012, 2013)

Also I jus realized that Pompedia is not as reliable as I thought it would be when it comes to their DCC database. I already had a mistake with the name Kelly as one of the girls who's real name is Kelley was labeled as Kelly on the site. Plus the technical difficulties and the search bar not working and you're left with a confused and frustrated person lol.

There’s a new block feature on IG that allows a user to mass block one person’s accounts. That includes any future accounts that are created. I think it works by blocking the IP address of the user being blocked.

@ShellyB Are the ladies aware of this new block feature on IG?

Yes, the problem is that one particular person creates multiple accounts from different IP addresses. He’s started to comment on other pages, including mine 🙄🤬

I’m curious about this too- Heather H. accidentally started with the wrong leg during kickline when auditioning for her second year (when she got cut) and I always thought it was a bizarre mistake to make. If they do kickline on both sides during auditions still, that makes it seem a little less out of left field.

    Yes, right split, then left.

Have you heard yet if the ladies will get to be on the field this season ?

That’s the assumption, but as you know, things can change at the last minute.

Ok HOLD. UP. Are you telling me y'all refer to those as the "dancing girl" pics? I am so tickled by this, and I don't know why. Like, I'm going to have work this in whenever someone takes my picture. "Hold on, lemme do my dancing girl pose. Boom."

On another note, I wasn't actually looking at your profile on LinkedIn. I was looking at someone else....George...um...Glass! Yes, that was his name. He goes to another school.

No but really, I was looking at someone who must be connected to you in some way and the graphic popped up as an association with you. And I'm not trying to get somebody in trouble, so that's all I'm going to say about that. You ain't heard it from me. 🤐

And finally, back to Gina. Left is the pic on the website. Right is the one she posted on IG when everyone else's cameos dancing girls 😆 were revealed last year. I'm guessing it's the one she liked best from last year's shoot. And now I am really and truly letting go of it.

As always, much appreciation for the inside scoop!

No one will get in trouble 🤣…it was posted on LinkedIn, I was in aware since I hardly get on. I knew that it was sent internally throughout DCFC and posted on the monitors at the Star and Stadium offices.

Yes, Dancing Girls, because when they are shooting music is playing and they are dancing for poses instead of being placed. Make sense?

Hi @ShellyB I'm sorry but I can't reveal my sources. Mwahahahahahaha.....

    Just kidding. It's on LinkedIn.

Regarding Gina, I asked because the uniform photo currently on the website is the same photo that was posted for the 2019 squad. All of the other veterans had new photos for 2020, so I wondered if Gina was either unable to attend the shoot or her photos didn't turn out last year.

Nope, she was there…but I know the Vets were asked if they wanted to reshoot or use a previous cameo/dancing girl. She may have opted for that photo instead of using a new one shot last summer - not that they ever have a say, but last TC, everything was so different - they did their own HMU, one person in set at a time, a long process…longer than normal. As far as the pics on the site, they were selected from the shoot, had final edits and put into a 2020 folder for webmaster to add. Could totally be human error - I’ll have to look into it.

Oh, LinkedIn…rarely look at that, so interesting that those are posted there. No wonder I had so many random lookyloos! 🤣🤣

I debated whether to put this here or the DCC org thread, but this one gets more views. It seems  we can thank Shelly for leading the resurrection of DallasCowboysCheerleaders.com. Thanks @ShellyB! I hope you are enjoying life in Houston. ☺️

Also, now that I know you're involved with the website, I have to ask something I've been wondering. What happened with Gina's 2020 cameo? Was she unable to participate in last year's photoshoot?

First of all…thank you. I was instrumental in being vocal enough to push for something bigger, bolder and brighter. There is still room to grow with the site, and the platform offers so many ways to continually build upon. Secondly, where did you get this? This was an internal email and highlight reel at The Star, maybe Stadium. Lastly, not sure what you are referring to about Gina. All the girls were at the photo shoot last year.

@ShellyB Hi Shelly, how come show group doesn't go on overseas USO tours anymore?

We went on a USO Tour in November of 2019, with hopes to do more, but Covid hit. Once life has returned to a somewhat normal pace, I’m sure discussions will be reignited.

Lots of reasons, from both sides of DCC and USO...timing, budget, formatting, etc. I took 4 girls to Korea last fall and there were talks of a Spring tour, but then COVID went and canceled life.

I could have sworn that Shelly told us before about Victoria not being classically trained? or at least something to that effect and she was acknowledging that there were some little issues or at least differences with technique - which all has to do with how they were taught. So being in the same studio forever likely actually contributes to the differences in technique. It doesn't absolve her from still having a few issues. For the record,  I think her pom style is awesome and it really should be her signature style.

I said her studio was a competition focused studio...some ballet throughout the week, but not the main focus.

Retirements are announced around the time of auditions aren’t they? @ShellyB is that correct?

also are the girls still not permitted to send out signed photos? How does someone go about getting one? Won’t lie I wouldn’t mind one before one of my faves retires 😅

Depends on if there is another season. Generally, around auditions is when the public will begin to know of possible retirements. K & J will not ask for formal decisions until later in the spring.

Right now, they’ve been told that signed photos are not to be mailed out...I’m aware of some that have sent out pics during quarantine.

I believe many of the ladies have their ankles taped for extra support while dancing in the boots. Perhaps @ShellyB can confirm if ever she stops by.

A few of the girls get taped before games, much like players. Mostly to help prevent any ankle rolls for those with weak ankles, shin splints, etc.

Ten vets and 25 rookies, so I think that's why Kelli was promised a spot by Suzanne.

I'm sure that there's more to the back story of why she just got to walk onto the squad.  The only thing I can remember (and I'm not even sure it's correct) was that a lot of girls left that year and Kelli was promised she wouldn't have to audition or worry about being cut if she stayed one last year.

👆🏼 These two scenarios are not related. 89-90 was the walkout year - 24 vets, 22 rookies...Kelli had already retired. She was granted her 5th season in 88.
