I HATE the ending they gave Eliot. He lives the rest of his life never knowing what happened to his friends?!?! Margo, Josh, Alice and Fen get to build a new world; Penny, Julia and HQ (🤮) go off to form their own little family, I must have blinked twice because I don't remember seeing Kady-Is she with the hedges? But Eliot's all alone at Brakebills except for Charlton? F/U show.

No one said Eliot would never see his friends again.

Really. A Sopranos style ending?! 5 years and thats what we get? I was loving the set up until they just left it in the air about whether the World Seed Crew™ ever reunited or got into contact with our Earthlings. I don't need everything spelled out for me at all but come on it didn't even fill up the whole hour! When the credits rolled I was just sitting there with my mouth hanging open and not in a good way. I checked the clock and there were still 5 minutes left until 11. Yes I'm bitter, ending a 5 year series on a cliffhanger just felt like a fuck you to the fans AND the cast. If anyone needs me I will be drinking tequila in the corner.

I think they left it open hoping it will get picked up for a sixth season.

  3. I hate the last episodes of series I've loved.  I mean when I know it's the last episode while I'm watching it.  I always feel sad like someone's died.  It shows that I really came to care for these characters, and I'm moved by knowing I won't see them again.

Oh, crap, the Beast showed up.  He brought a certain level of...uh...terror to the episode.  Poor Zelda.

    Nice save of Margo, Penny.

Wait, that's how big and pointy the seed is?  How did it fit...?  You know what?  Never mind.

Ha!  The new world has a field of bacon!  I like it already.

I loved the Magicians.  For a few years, it was my favorite show on tv.  I mean I would rearrange my schedule to make sure I watched it as it first aired.  No watching it the next day for me.  The humor including the sex and drug & alcohol humor, the absolute horror of the Beast and Reynard, the quirky, wackiness, the messenger bunnies.

Most of all I think were the character relationships.  How great was Eliot and Margo's friendship?

Quentin wasn't my favorite character when he was on, but I have to say I missed him this season.  He was necessary.  He was the heart of the group, linking other members of the group.  The show was poorer without him.

I hope the show gets picked up by someone.

Thanks for the memories, Magicians.  It's been fun.

  4. Everyone singing and dancing like this...is Sweet in town?  You know you know that reference.

    Hah, great suitcase.

I noticed the facial expressions of the actors when they're singing, especially Olivia's and Hale's in their duet.  They have to sing the song, but they have to also stay in character and emote what their characters were feeling and do it with only facial expressions.  They really do a good job with this.

But that lady isn't Penny23's mom.  Penny23's mom is in timeline 23, right?  So we just assume that her history is the same as Penny23's mom's history?  We're not going to tell Penny40's mom that her son is dead?

I like Zelda's enthusiasm for all of the songs....and Marina's lack thereof.

Jade can really belt out a tune.

Fen's solution for safeguarding the seed was...creative.  I couldn't have done it.

  5. Seemed like kind of a lame reason to turn good Marina bad again.  Because they needed her to lie to her girlfriend?  I feel like if they just talked to the girlfriend and explained the situation she might have just helped them.

Watching the pigman tonight I finally realized that he is a chauvinist PIG.  I thought his pigginess had to symbolize something.

Musical number next week!  Should be fun.

Sorry, she was a godess, a very minor one. She was the daughter of Zeus's and Demeter, the goddess of the harvest. Hades fell in love with her and kidnapped her. Her mother was so sad, she let all the plants die and the earth to cool so that hades had to return her but before she left she ate several pomegranate seeds. Because of this, she had to spend 6 months in Hades (fall and winter) and 6 months with her mom (spring and summer)

Okay, topic? It was nice to see Hades and Benedict again.

Not sure I'd call her a minor goddess.  As the wife of Hades she was widely worshipped as the queen of the underworld and subject of popular mystery cults.

  7. Hah, young Dean is just too cool.

The doctor can't think of the word "paper" and looks to tongue-tied Plover to help.

I really hate Margo wearing eye patches.  We had to go a whole season of her wearing eye patches.  And I sure wouldn't give something as valuable as my freakin' EYE to someone to keep no matter how badly I wanted to know what they were doing.

OMFG, George torturing Alice by cutting off fingers.  Holy fuck.  Penny lost hands before so I know she can get them back but wow, what a horrible scene.

  8. Aw, Margo's not going to make Eliot kill the King.  She's a pal.

The messenger bunnies kill me every time.  It's the voice they use.  Freakin' hilarious.

Hale and Summer do a good job playing each other's characters.  Funny.

Whoa, I feel bad for the King now that they've killed him.  And for Eliot and Margo.  I was hoping they wouldn't.

Damn, that was quite an effective solution Alice and the botanist came up with.

Yep, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop on killing the King.  Like this King was actually good, and NOW they've released the Dark King.  It always pays to find out why the King is raising Takers with gold before you kill him I always say.

  9. Welcome back, Magicians!  They've been missing for such a long time, but tonight they're back.  The humor, the weirdness, the character interactions.  This is the stuff that made me love Magicians.  Best episodes of the season.

Margo:  "Of course we're the chosen ones.  We're us."  Indeed, Margo, indeed.

All M and E's attempts to fix things were fun.  It makes me wonder, though, how many times these people have died.  Consider 39 times during the first time loops and how many times during these.

Having to talk to whales, who, it turns out, are magicians who are keeping the Kraken locked up.  This is the classic fun weirdness of Magicians.

GREAT to see Eliot's arc.  He pulls himself together, figures things out, saves the day.  We were robbed of Eliot last season with him being the monster all season.  I missed Eliot, and I missed Eliot and Margo.  Great to see him/them again!

What a touching scene between M and E at the end.  Great to see the friends back together again.

    I really enjoyed these episodes.

  10. "I want to murder everything."  "More than usual?"  Ha ha.

Fen and Margo fighting, so badass.

What a gut-wrenching conversation and the top of the mountain between Eliot and Alice and so well-acted.

Oh no, a falling out between Margo and Fen & Josh.

Well, that Dark King is certainly charasmatic.  I think I'll like having him as the badguy.  He was there to honor his father?  Did he kill him?

  11. Fun to see Dean and Julia talking on campus.  I'm realizing I was hoping for more of that, our heroes being on campus.  I think I wanted Hogwart's for adults.  I think I wanted to see them attending classes and having adventures on campus as well as off.

Margo The Destroyer.  Ha!  So true.

Awwww, Alice's and pseudo-Quentin's last conversation.  *sniff* 😣

    Awwww, Margot's and Josh's conversation.  *sniff*  😊

Way to play with our feelings, show.  Give us a Quentin who's not Quentin then take him away again.  Maybe Alice can move on now.

  12. I didn't realize how much I'd been missing this show, but I really enjoyed this episode and seeing everyone again.  Well, almost everyone.  Q was never my favorite character, and yet I'm realizing I miss him.  He was the heart of the group.

I'm glad that we'll apparently be seeing Brakebill's more.  I always thought/hoped more of the plots would take place there.

I'm glad things are back to "normal".  It's been two years seen we've really seen Eliot.  I was getting sick of there not being magic.  These people are Magicians.  I want to see them slinging spells.

Aaaaaaaand Margo's first line of the new season is...."I'd fuck our corpses."  Nice.  I still love Margo.  She is so boss.  So glad we got rid of the stupid eyepatch.  Nice to see both of her eyes and her whole face.

Julia:  "You choose your quest."  Whoa, profound.

I don't know how our original Penny would have done as a professor, but this one is pretty good.

OMG, Alice is making a Q golem!!!

Good episode, I really liked it.  Not that I haven't like every season, but I think I'll like this plot more than past recent plots.  Good stuff.

  13. I agree with the poster who said the monster plot ending was anticlimactic.  We had to go all season without Eliot, we deserved some closure when he returned, scenes of Eliot talking with other characters about what happened and how he and they felt about it.  And we didn't get that because Q's death overshadowed it completely, so the climax of the season is just hanging out there meaninglessly while we deal with Q's death.  The monster storyline feels rather empty.

  14. Oh that ending.  😢😢😢😢😢

The ceremony was so gut wrenching.  I was sorry they were burning the things that were meaningful for them with Q.  I would think I'd want to keep them.

The resolution of the monster problem seemed rushed, like they realized they were out of time and had to finish it.  This show needs longer seasons.  We have to wait 9 months and only get 13 episodes.  It ends, and I'm like "that's it?"

Along those lines, it really wasn't cool to make us go a whole year without Eliot.  Now we have to go 9 more months without him.  I'm also very tired of them not having magic or having to ration it. This show is called The Magicians.  I want to see them using magic. I liked in this episode that they got to use magic.  Next season I want to see the gang all together (except apparently for Q 😢) working together using magic and kicking butt together.

So I'm seeing from other posts Q is really really well and truly dead?  Did the actor want to leave or is this a creative decision?  I'm sorry if so.  Won't be the same without him.

I've never liked musical episodes and this one didn't change my mind, but The Magicians is so good that I very much enjoyed this episode in spite of the musical interludes.  The scenes in the desert were so striking, and it was very satisfying that Margo got the straight scoop on the demons and overthrew the misogynist creeps. I'm also glad we got a little bit of Margo's backstory. We've known so little about her and Penny this whole time.

The escape room was also fun, although I felt it should have been more of its own episode so we could get more details and complications there. Julia is getting awfully confident in her invincibility, which does not bode well. Obviously gods can be killed; multiple gods have been killed with our cast's involvement. They were there to warn a god that he was in danger! I wonder if she actually knows what her limits are.

I just want the magic rationing to be over and done with so we can go back to all the fun, spontaneous execution of magic. Spending entire episodes to dredge up the resources for one spell that isn't so dazzling to look at just isn't the same.

I agree.  Between last season and this, it's been a long time since we've been able to see the gang cut loose with the magic.  Can't the writers think of enough challenges for them if they can use magic freely?  Doesn't seem to be a problem in other stories.  I miss Eliot too.

Next season I want magic restored, everyone back to themselves kicking ass and working together to solve the threat.

    I completely disagree.

The idea that if a woman does a job it's somehow different from a man doing the same job and therefore needs a different name reduces them permanently to a lessor position. I refuse to use gendered versions of actor, waiter etc. Just because a woman does it, doesn't make the job different and the fact a woman is doing it doesn't need to be distinguished. This doesn't erase women, it implies they're incapable of doing the same job to the same degree of competence.

And my answer related specifically to the question - which was why it was important to Margo that she's a King, not a Queen. And that's clearly because the word 'Queen' was invented under the assumption that a woman will always be subordinate to a man, even if she has the same job.

I feel like there is value in having words that are just descriptive to let us know whether the person is male or female.  I don't think a queen has to be inferior to a king though I get that's the way it's always been.

Having said that, if/when we have a woman president, I won't have any need to call her "presidentess".  When I refer to actors I say actor whether male or female so maybe it depends on context for me.

  17. Margo:  badass as always.  I must have gotten something in my eye during her talk with lizard-Eliot at the end.

Is it wrong of me that I was happy when the monster killed the leprechaun and her stupid boss?

I LOL 'd when the Dean joined the song.

And since the finale is approaching, I have to ask:  which of our heroes is going to screw up the gang's plan to deal with the monster because of their own agenda this time?

  18. Margo is a badass, and I love that about her.  But this episode I got to see her smile.  It seemed like it had been ages.  She found out Eliot is alive, she and Josh banged, she even seemed happy and relaxed when parting from Josh.  Nice to see happy Margo and her radiant smile.

I have We Belong on my mp3 player.

And WTF with that cliffhanger, show????
