Surprisingly I wouldn't be upset about this. But only if they have a new cast of characters, and *not* four girls who have the exact personality of the original four. I think it'll be nice to see what's up with Eastland in the 2000's.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for shows that focus on school and students.

I second this. As long as the new group isnt the old gang 2.0 Id love to see what issues the show tackles 30 years later.

  2. My thoughts on the original cast...

I think Jay & Manny got married about a year after Spinner & Emma and have a baby. She's still an actress but hasn't had mega success with it, mainly doing guest starring roles on TV and stuff like that hoping to land a show of her own. Jay decided to go back and get his high school diploma and him and Sean own a auto shop together.

Jimmy's in New York with Trina still. He's not really in touch with anyone from high school anymore except Spinner.

Paige became a single mom from a short-term fling and the father isn't in the picture. Doing something with fashion.

Marco's an elementary school teacher who hopes to one day teach at Degrassi.

Craig's still a successful musician on the road and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Ellie's a journalist and even though she's still single has moved on from her crush on Craig. She's reconnected with Sean friendship wise and there's hopes of them getting back together.

Ashley has toured with Craig a couple of times but is still trying to get her big break in the music industry. Still in London.

Alex eventually got back on her feet but never went to college and is working at a diner similar to The Dot.

Toby met someone in university and they live together. He does something with computers.

The show pretty much told us in the reunion ep where Spinner, Emma, and Liberty are right now except we don't really know what Emma's career is. It's pretty much where I thought they would be.

Terri's probably a model and Hazel probably went to a university but I don't have any ideas on what career path she would've taken.

  3. Wesley and Dave were the worst I think, because they were characters the writers actually took the time to develop, give a number of storylines to, and then they just disappeared without a word. Dave was even at Adam's funeral and they didn't bother to throw in a line about where he would be that year.

Ashley wasn't the worst but I feel like she should be mentioned because I thought her ending sucked too. Going on tour with Craig would've been a good ending for her if she weren't this close from graduating Degrassi. It just felt like they were getting her out of the way to do the Jimmy/Trina storyline.

Exactly! They could have done so much with Ruthie's character besides all the unnecessary boy drama and given Sam&David actual story lines and realistic personalities, but they wasted so much time on random people.

Agreed that's one of my biggest complaints about season 11 for the most part that Ruthie's entire story line once she was home from Scotland was pretty much about her relationship with T-Bone and to a lesser extent Martin. Her attitude kind of sucked at times too, like her reaction to Eric wanting her to come home or her thinking T-Bone should be the one to pay for her tattoo removal. I haven't seen the tattoo episode in a long time but I don't think T-Bone told her to get it so I didn't get where that logic came from.

  5. Recently I watched the first Beverly Ann w/ out Mrs. Garrett episode which was Tootie considering sleeping with a boyfriend she had gotten serious with (not the Jeff one but some other guy). I think they probably should've developed more of a relationship between her and the girls first before that one. It would've made more sense why she was freaking out so much about it, to the point of flushing the flowers the guy got Tootie down the toilet, while the other girls were pretty much calm when they realized what was going on. Would've been a great Mrs. Garrett episode though had they done it the year before.

Does anyone remember if they mentioned if the girls had met Beverly Ann previously off screen before, or if when she showed up for Mrs. G's wedding was the first time they met? I should probably go back and rewatch Mrs. G's departure ep and find out.

  6. If I were going by my favorite characters alone my group would be Blair, Jo, Natalie & Sue Ann, so basically the only one who would've not stuck around would've been Tootie... but I also think that would've been a weird group as well as because I don't know who Natalie's best friend would've been. Oh well, I love Tootie but it's fun to think about how things could've been different anyway.

  7. I was slightly disappointed that Cory/Topanga didn't really step in because Maya told them not to. The gang could have still been the ones to help Riley though it in the end, but I felt like the episode could have used a scene where they had a moment with her privately. Also I agree with the posts where people had a problem with Maya refusing to stop saying Rileytown. That bugged me throughout the episode too.

But really I loved this episode and it's still my favorite one of the series so far. I just had those thoughts after rewatching it again.

  8. As far as couples go my list would be:

    Best- Eli/Clare (before Eli graduated), Spinner/Jane, Paige/Alex, Jay/Manny, Drew/Bianca, Peter/Darcy, Craig/Ashley, Zig/Maya, JT/Liberty, Sean/Ellie, Sean/Emma, Jimmy/Hazel, KC/Jenna,  Johnny/Alli & Dave/Alli

    Worst- Drew/Becky, Jake/Clare, Imogen/Jack, Eli/Imogen, Anya/Dr. Chris, Sav/Ms. Oh, Drew/Katie, Miles/Maya

  9. The floating timeline (dragging out a "school year" over multiple seasons to hold onto actors as long as possible) has done the show more harm than good at some points. I've been marathon-rewatching the show from the beginning, and it's really struck me that the worst seasons of the show tend to be the ones that were the last gasp of a group of graduating seniors. They run out of good story ideas for the characters and basically just run them into the ground so that it feels like a good thing when they finally graduate.

It started with Emma and Manny's class. Most of their storylines in their last high school season were terrible - Purple Dragon, Manny and Jay's engagement (I liked them together but the fake engagement was stupid and the stuff about the plane tickets to Malta was even worse), Jimmy and Ashley fighting over music and breaking up again, Liberty hooking up with Emma's boyfriend, etc. Spinner was the only one of the graduating seniors who actually got a decent storyline that season.

The last season of Holly J, Anya and Sav's class also really dragged - Anya dating her mother's doctor and then becoming a coke fiend, Holly J's attempts to buy a kidney from her birth mother, Sav dating Ms. Oh, breaking up Riley and Zane just to give them something to do.

It was the same thing with the most recent season. The mountain of bad stuff that happened to Clare by the time she finally graduated was ridiculous - her parents got divorced, her ex-boyfriend crashed his car on purpose when she broke up with him, her next boyfriend became her step-brother, she ran away from home and was taken in by drug dealers, her co-op advisor sexually assaulted her and then got her fired, she got cancer, her boyfriend cheated on her, she got pregnant and didn't know who the father was, and then she had a miscarriage. Did I miss anything? Drew's list would probably be just as long. They couldn't even come up with anything for Ali, Jenna and Connor to do in their final season. It was long past time for them all to graduate.

I 100% agree about Clare's class. At that point it seemed like they were just throwing issues at Clare to keep her busy until it was her time to graduate, and then they paired Drew/Becky together to keep Drew busy. I was so ready for them to graduate by that point so that way the focus could go towards the newer kids and I felt like this new season has been a lot better than seasons 13 and 14.

  10. My least favorite episode that I've seen so far...but that scene between Cory & Feeny at the end may be my favorite scene of this show so far.

My reasons why pretty much echo the other posts. Riley and Maya were irritating in this episode.

  11. I love mini's, especially the older ones. Some of them have fallen flat lately, like the one about Maya's dress isn't even memorable, but this one looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I can't wait to see it.

I love the one where they copy The View with Liberty, Emma, Manny, Darcy and brought Paige on as a guest. That one was pretty funny.

  12. Jimmy is a terrible boyfriend. Ashley had a valid point, that Jimmy was stepping all over her musical efforts and making it all about him. She could have handled that situation a lot better than she did, but the situation arose because Jimmy was completely ignoring her feelings and her obvious insecurity about what had happened with Craig. To top it all off, instead of just breaking up with her he starting putting the moves on Trina and waited for Ashley to break up with him, which is similar to what he did with Hazel when he fell for Ellie. Plus he totally sold out his mom by agreeing not to tell her about his dad's affair in exchange for money for stem cell surgery, so it kind of seems like he just doesn't respect women.

Definitely agree. Jimmy became my least favorite of the original TNG kids from season 5 until he left the show.

Speaking of Jimmy....I prefer the Spinner/Jay duo over Spinner/Jimmy. Not that I don't like Spinner/Jimmy but I find Spinner/Jay to be more fun.

  13. I would love to either see Marco as a teacher or Spinner as a police officer or Degrassi's security guard. Paige's class would be having their 10 year reunion in 2 years (although with the timeline who knows how many seasons it'll be until 2016 in the Degrassi world). It'd be cool if they did an episode or movie special for that.

  14. My favorite characters...

Jay is probably my overall favorite character. He kept his wit throughout his time on the show and it was great seeing him grow, especially since he never got his own story outside of his romances.

Spinner is also another that it pained me to see him go. I loved Spinner. Him and Jay together is one of my favorite parts of the middle seasons. Even when his only purpose was Jane I never felt he overstayed his welcome.

I'm also one of the few Dave Turner fans. He was far from perfect but I always wanted him to get better stories than he got.

And for females I really liked Jane. Didn't care for the cheating story but sucks she didn't get to be on the show that long.

Alli...okay I'm kind of worn out on Alli now after that abuse arc but she was easily my favorite minor ninor and a favorite for a while. I hope next season isn't drama filled for her and she gets a good ending.

Paige...it's hard not to love Paige. The movie made it clear to me her time on the show was up but she's such a classic character who brought a lot of great memories for me.
