  1. That was a wig on Shania, right?   So much prettier as a brunette.

McKenna acts like she went to Miss America school or something.  Also, seems to think pretty highly of herself.

Singers today all seem to yell-sing, like it makes them better or something.  The crowd responds by clapping, so I guess they get reinforced for it.

The sound continues to bug, so echo-y I can't understand what they are singing.

Guess I have nothing positive to say, lol.

Hard to believe the inspector never asked for a photo of Dickie to pass around when he was trying to catch up to him.

I wonder how Ripley explained the wig and beard disguise to his butler and housekeeper.

The boatkeeper described Tom and Dickie as men in their thirties to the police, so I guess the characters were aged up for the miniseries.

The stark black and white imagery was beautiful and the story held my interest throughout the eight episodes, so bravo!

Agree.  When someone is missing or someone is a suspect, you're going to have photos to help jar people's memories, even in 1961.

I don't understand why Marge didn't pursue speaking to Dickie personally.  Even if she figured he was dumping her, she'd still be concerned for him if she didn't trust Tom.  She gave up so easily.

The sloppy clean up of the blood on the steps sure didn't seem Tom-like at all; he was very meticulous about everything else.  How he very publicly got Freddie out of the building was very risky and therefore unbelievable to me, even thought it was very late at night.

I didn't know that the person that played Freddie is the non-binary offspring of Sting.  I looked it up because the last name is the same.

So, as someone said, if everyone believed Dickie was alive and then they found out Tom was alive, why wouldn't they pursue why the boat was sunk and burned and had blood?  Also, how Tom survived after going in the water with the boat coming at him and the anchor hitting him was unbelievable.

Dickie being pulled down in the water with the anchor attached was very terrifying.

So true! You nailed it! Despite the tears and hugs, I don’t believe Kyle and Kathy will ever have a healthy relationship. It will be the same push and pull it has been for years. They are both too damaged from their mother, and so is Kim. It is one screwed up family dynamic.

When Kyle was sidestepping the direct questions about her marriage, this is what I inferred: Mauricio cheated and Kyle caught him this time. She couldn’t keep looking away. She as much as said this. It sounds like it’s been going on for years. The clip went back a decade. I’ve been suspecting this since the story broke and Kyle’s behavior on this episode confirmed it for me.

Her answers about Morgan were laughable. It sounds like she doesn’t want to admit that she’s had (having) a fling with this woman, but as others have said she’s willing to behave with her publicly in a way that invites speculation. Not to mention the huge age difference, which for a man is often a joke about how he’s having a midlife crisis.

Shallow note but I didn’t like Kyle’s green dress, hair or makeup. She looked stuffed into the dress and it wasn’t particularly flattering even though she’s tiny. Something is off with her lips and lower jaw, and Kathy’s is similar. Did they go to the same plastic surgeon?

Speaking of Kathy, she comes across menacing to me at times. I see a nasty person channeling her mother’s behavior. I’m glad Sutton and Garcelle escaped. There was no reason to have Kathy on the reunion. Having Kathy there showed that Andy is far up Kyle’s behind. And Kathy did walk like a little old lady!

    It was very plain.

  4. As far as hairstyles, the way a lot of the women plaster their hair so tight against their head makes for a severe look.  They use product to slick it down, which makes it looks greasy.  It also highlights their roots.  Soft, flowing hair is much more flattering, IMO.

  5. Farrah being concerned about how "snatched" her face is when they were getting ready (when talking to the hair guy) is pretty sad, at age 34.   Guess it's the environment/city/profession she's in.

Dorit likes the word 'chic' a lot.

Sutton was being shady when she was asking where Mau was in her TH, since she had already greeted him there.

  6. I agree, the party was sterile and was much better by their pool.

    Annemarie's husband was underdressed.

Denise has lost me.  I really don't care to see her on my TV anymore.

Sutton's daughter is beautiful.  Looks a lot like Sutton.

For some reason  I haven't noticed Crystal's height in prior seasons; she's taller than all of them!

I think Garcelle needed more boob support in her dress.

Kyle really does seem sad, and like she said, her friend's death really made her rethink things.  Maybe once more time goes by, she'll be less emotional and decide not to end the marriage.  Of course, Mau may have other ideas.  Also, when did "Mo" become "Mau"?  I watch with captions because I listened to loud Def Leppard too much in my youth and people mumble on TV.  Captions now show "Mau" (which is more accurate!).

    This season's biggest mistakes:

    • Lack of investigation.
    • Lack of concern for believability.
    • Identifying itself as True Detective.

When it comes to Annie’s case, it’s an obvious rip-off of Wind River. It’s so predictable since episode one.

Lack of investigative work throughout this season is one thing. To have Raymond Clark telling the viewers what happened to Annie instead of Danvers and Navarro piecing it all together is just lazy writing. Then they torture Raymond (while making themselves some snacks) without trying to find out first whether he’s a witness or a suspect? It’s absurd.

Issa López really goes overboard with S01 references with no pay-off. Yeah, it’s totally believable for Raymond to blurt out that particular philosophical phrase from S01 while being questioned. Context be damned.

Dorit’s fake eyelashes touch her eyebrows.

She’s actually not looking very good in her THs.

I have a young co-worker whose REAL eyelashes almost touch her eyebrows.   Not fake, not extenders.  She swears by some conditioner (not cheap) she uses on them.  Insane.

This is my first go at True Detective and....it's a lot.  Like so many others here, I'm interested in the case, but the seemingly endless list of characters, relationships, and sub-plots, with very little actual context and just a bunch of guessing on my part, is turning me off, unfortunately.

Also, it took four full days for my twenty pound turkey to thaw in my refrigerator, which is set at 38 degrees. In what world can frozen human bodies completely thaw in 48 hours?  Not a big deal, I confess, but it bugged me....🙃

My husband refuses to watch shows where so many people are introduced off the bat, he says he doesn't want to have to work so much to watch a show, lol.

"Let's talk about the elephant in the room."  What a producer set-up, as everyone was having a nice time and there was zero awkward tension.  And brava to Garcelle's "if THIS is the way AnneMarie apologizes, I don't want to hear it" (or words to that effect)  Her defensive tone connotated anything but a true apology.  And, yes, now that she couldn't make the Sutton feud work, she's zeroed in on Crystal.  Go away, 8.5.

Massive eyeroll at Kyle bringing her Birkin to a dinner party where they didn't even leave the house.

I get Vanity Fair magazine, and there was an article about the housewives shows.  The producers even text them on their phones about what to bring up.

Dorit just said, “This is about the homeless and the toothless.”

Isn't the charity to raise money to provide dental services to the homeless so that if they are indeed toothless, they get treated?  So, the name actually does make sense, awkward as it is.

However, the issue of them being homeless is still a HUGE issue.   And getting worse.

  12. I would have liked to see John Hamm and Juno Temple present together.

Happy for Succession and The Bear!  Ebon was so deserving.

I think the reunions were all awkward.

The audience at these shows have really become jaded and don't care about anything other than their time in the sun.  Many don't clap, they just sit there like a bump on a log.  Not very gracious.

Having said that, WAY too many standing ovations.

    Momma - very irritating.

I don't know what Cillian said that got him muted lol. Congrats to him so glad he won.

Barry Keoghan needs to win something!  So good in The Banshees of Inisherin and was great in Saltburn also. He's got a great future ahead of him.

I think she was wearing flat sandals. At least her feet looked sparkly when she was walking up the stairs.

Incidentally Keri Russell doesn't do nearly enough comedy.

Keri was great in Waitress.  One of my favorite movies.

  15. So what did Charles do -stop the car, saying he had to get something out of the backseat, and then pulls out a gun and shoots her from the backseat?

He was acting like he didn't know where he was in order for more time to go by before the police came so that she would die and not be able to tell them no one jumped into the car?  He probably didn't think she'd survive even the short time she did.

Kind of hard to shoot yourself and not do potentially serious injury to an organ.  Guess he was willing to take the chance.
