  1. There's sure a lot of people who died at Deal Mart.  Maybe it's the dollar-fifty hot dogs?

Nancy seems to be very familiar with colloquial language for a basement ghost.  I guess they can hear everything down there.

If a living had been able to drop a ladder down the well, would Flower have been able to climb it? Do rungs count as floor or wall?

To my mind, a ladder is an object and cannot be touched by ghosts.  The stairs in the house are part of the structure and so are solid like the floor.

  3. The idea of poor Patience wandering blindly under the ground for centuries seems like a rather grim fate to me instead of something played for laughs.  I really didn't find it funny.  Also if a ghost is surrounded by dirt, why would some of it be the floor and the rest be walls?  Darn ghost logic!

Once again, Pete's ghost wife is absent.  Must be hanging out with Crash.

  4. I'm surprised no one at council brought up the possibility that Q wanted to direct all their votes towards him in order to pull out an idol to nullify their votes and choose who was going home himself.  Something similar was done on Australian Survivor this year.

  5. Hard to believe the inspector never asked for a photo of Dickie to pass around when he was trying to catch up to him.

I wonder how Ripley explained the wig and beard disguise to his butler and housekeeper.

The boatkeeper described Tom and Dickie as men in their thirties to the police, so I guess the characters were aged up for the miniseries.

The stark black and white imagery was beautiful and the story held my interest throughout the eight episodes, so bravo!

  6. I'm assuming Kate was returned home with her memory wiped by the Grays as usual after they collared her, literally, since they abducted her in the first place.  How she got away from them with a knife wasn't shown, though.

As it turns out there isn't a mothership to blow up but a base on the moon, if I read that correctly.

  7. That was rather an abrupt cut from the spaceship chase to suddenly sitting in the diner but I guess they didn't want us to spend too much time with fake Harry on the ship in case his different behavior gives away the twist.

  8. I think what raised feminist hackles was Tim mentioning the women were whispering together and how he recognized that behavior in the women of his own family when they were plotting something.  Really, though, anyone who watches this show knows that boys' or girls' alliances are often proposed so it's not sexist to be suspicious.

Too much Michonne babbling on and on and on and on....................😒

When I saw where this episode was going, I just skipped over the scenes of talking heads.  How many variations of the "I did it to protect you/I don't need protecting" argument does one need to hear in one hour?

Not everyone has the money/time/resources to build all of Survivor's overused challenges to practice

If you have the means to put your life on hold for a month to be on a freakin' TV show,  I'm sure you can find a way to prepare yourself, especially since many people try for years to be accepted.

  11. What was the deal with the food that Blackthorne insisted on trying that had the two women smiling at each other?  It didn't look or sound very appetizing (spoiled cheese flavor?) so I'm guessing it was something that a Westerner would consider revolting.

ETA: I found a recap that explained the food was called natto, which is fermented soybeans, but didn't explain the women's amusement.

  12. It really felt like WU was clearing out their backlog of McConnell jokes since this may be the last time they can use them.  I'm gonna miss those.

Oh, so that's why I've been hearing about Sydney Sweeney so much for a while.  Yup, very nice...eyes.

When I read about the Biden behind closed doors bit, I was expecting a repeat of the sketch with Phil Hartman as Reagan being a mastermind in private and a doddering grandpa in public.  I wondered if enough time had elapsed to do that again, but they went a different way.

  13. I think Gillis as a cast member would've always been playing the same character, he's such a physical "type,"  it would be hard to see him as anything other than a clichéd high school coach, cop, etc.  I watched his comedy special last week out of curiosity and he came off rather amateurish in his delivery.  He really doesn't seem ready for the big time.  He does do a decent Trump voice, though.

Not a great episode, but some okay moments.  I guess that's the best we can hope for these days.

And kind of nice that Jay has a second way outside of Trevor notes written on steam condensing on mirrors.  Doesn't tilt the scale too off kilter because too much communication would ruin the show,  But just enough.  And nice Jay knows what Sass looks like as well.

Trevor can also send emails, apparently.  Not easily, as I remember, but they could have worked out a system on the computer.

  15. The cremation process was interesting.  I didn't know it required a double burn or that the first step left balls of whatever (ew).

Why would Prior shoot his dad in the head?  I thought cops were trained to aim for the body.  There would have been a chance of survival and possible testimony for the case.  I know, TV show reasons.

And Danvers offers Prior the use of her unheated shed?  Does she want to kill him?  Better he should move into one of the cells at the station.

Aw snap, a mid-credits scene! And that Jade Dragons senior member who I thought was shady the whole season is shady! I really hope they do a second season

So was he the one behind the Boxers or were we never told who Grace was reporting to?

  17. I half expected Munch to turn to dust like some 500-year-old vampire when he bit into the biscuit.  I'm not sure I like having supernatural elements intruding into what I expect to be a noir-ish crime story but I suppose we can hand-wave Munch's backstory as a delusion of the character.

Quite satisfied with Tillman's comeuppance via Lorraine's manipulations.  An eye-for-an-eye type punishment is fitting for that Bible freak.

So we’re all going to ignore the fact that Dot basically got Jordan killed?

Yeah, but he was rude to the nursing staff, so screw him.  Kind of dark comic relief for this show.

I have to wonder if maybe the censors insisted that it not look particularly realistic?

The close ups of the phallic chocolate had me wondering what kind of negotiations went on between Lorne and the network as to how many details they could include, i.e. size of the ridge, veins, etc.  That could be a sketch in itself.

  20. Loved the absurdity of Heidi's character winning three(!) cars just to rub in Emma getting stuck with the tortoise.

The zombie sequence using Mama Cass's song really seemed like it would work in an actual movie.  It's such a familiar trope. Chloe Troast has a pretty decent singing voice.

That voice Emma does as the poster girl is annoyingly bad in my opinion and seems a bit mean to the women who model for a living.

Emma Stone is 35?  JFC, I'm old, or just out of touch.

Not a bad show all in all.  Not great, but a few good moments.
