  1. The thing that confused me was the Morgan murder and J dressed up as Dexter Morgan....

one of three possibilities come to mind:

    1) J figures out why Smurf gave him power of attorney - to use him and his clean record for her money laundering business.   His convo with Morgan confirmed to him that they were setting him up as the fall guy.

    2) Morgan was stealing from Smurf and J saw his chance to strike.

    3) He saw his opportunity to try to beat Smurf at her own game.

All seem plausible.  But his “use” of the Notary Public in nursing home, etc seemed like red herrings meant for Smurf OR were set ups by Morgan to implicate J while she made off stealing from Smurf.

Pope is attached to Lena, his niece, because he is profoundly guilty about murdering her mother.  Nothing about the writing or acting even suggests a hint of pedophilia.  That's why nobody else thought of this.

Right.  But also, doesn’t Pope still think that Lena is (possibly) his daughter?  Her mother basically left that as a possibility as well.  She said something like his “problems” and her dual involvement with Baz was the reason she never told Pope.  She told him that before Smarf demanded that he kill her.

He said that after a couple of trips to the fridge and the toilet he got too tired and had to use the bucket. It was nuts as the toilet was very close to the bed. He kept saying everything was so much stress so he was taking a break and eating pizza and lying around, but he was making everything worse. I know he is in pain from all that fat hanging everywhere and the rashes and his feet. The crappy food and laying around is just making him feel worse and get worse. The whining in the last scene was so depressing, he was saying this is what it is right now, I can't do anything right now, taking a break, can't deal I'll eat what I want. He is quickly going to be back to bedridden and 1000 pounds. Then  he will get the nursing home I guess.

His father tried to help but I think got fed up. They didnt really show those scenes.  I can't say I blame him for not wanting Sean to live with him. And he needed to stay in Houston for Dr Now program and the dad had a job in California. They didn't tell us much but I think the dad could not bear his own son, and I can't say I blame him. Sean could whine and complain to his mother and she would try to help him and give in to him.

He can thank his mother.  In the first episode, he was walking around the apartment from one room to the next, as his exercise and his mother told him "not to over do it.".  It's not hard to see that he thinks basic walking around the apartment is "exercise" and over doing things, hence, the reasoning to stay in one spot.

Once again, even though some of them have lost over 200 lbs (I couldn’t really keep up with who lost how much; I kept drifting in and out of sleep) they really don’t look very different. I think it is because I was hoping to see their attitudes change, or they would look more lively or engaged with the world, but even after losing that much weight they still seem to spend a lot of time draped over the furniture like discarded clothes. Rotunda (dammit I can’t think of her real name now, LOL) really does have some nice clothes, though. I thought her hair and her outfit looked really put together at the doctor visit when she had that long red striped cardigan and those patent leather flats on.

You know, I haven't been able to stay awake to watch the episodes over the last few weeks.  I was bored to sleep with this family AND the lady with the kids they followed for 12 years.

  5. One thing that really annoys me is when the patient says, after walking out of the office, "well, I don't know what to do and  just need help." But, seemingly forget that they just finished talking to Dr Now AND his staff about what they need to do.  It's never clear to them that they have the info they need but refuse to do it because it's not what they want.  There are no magical steps, just hard work and a larger degree of self control.

  6. Glad to see I’m not the only one that thinks the writing on the episodes have been really poor this season.

so why hasn’t Rollins been suspended or released from her job?  At this point, she clearly needs a very long break.

For some reason most of the patients think SALAD is the key.  I don't think they realize that salads are tricky.  They can quickly turn in to a high calorie dish.  Not worth it for me.  I'd rather have a nice lean protein, whole grain side, veggies, etc.  PLUS, a plain salad doesn't fill me up.  It's basically water with little nutritional value, without a lot of other toppings, which can be problematic.  I find that my salads are a little baby greens, bell pepper, cucumber, onion, mushrooms, small amount of beets, and a tad of salad dressing.  I mean half of teaspoon or nothing. You can get those types of salad at Subway, but, not most fast food places.  But, how long will that kind of thing hold you over? My belly would be hurting before bedtime, even if I put some a small serving of chicken on it.

Did you notice the younger sister in the grocery store and how she had no clue about vegetables? She didn't seem interested to learn either.

Salad is the first thing MOST people think is lower calorie food when they want to lose weight.  It can be, until you pour a bottle of salad dressing on it and add all of the “tasty” toppings.  It’s always a little shocking to see entree salads at fast casual restaurants are anywhere from 600 to 1500 + calories depending on toppings.

That at being said, one commonality between every episode of this show is very few patients eat vegetables.  Just imagine if every “snack” they had between meals was a bag of veggies instead of processed, pre-packaged food.  The general lack of fibrous foods in their diet makes it far easier to overindulge in empty foods.

I’m still thinking this is an untapped cash cow(no pun intended...). I’m still envisioning the Nowzardian Center for The Super Morbidly Obese.  There are supersized rooms, a gym, pool, nutritionist, therapist & life coach. The cafeteria with only the approved items for an appropriate eating habit has calorie count labels on all the items and once scanned into the system for that person, when they reach their calorie limit, the cafeteria is closed to them for the rest of the day.  A social worker helps them find off site housing once their initial 90 day stay is up.

Sort of like a rehab facility for the food addict.

They had a center like that in NYC on a previous show minus the luxury aspect.  A number of patients just snuck food in and eventually got kicked out of the program.  I think that show was the forerunner to Dr Now.

Melissa is a nice person. That said, Melissa is also a person who needs serious intervention to help her develop coping skills, self esteem, and decision making abilities. No matter how much she loves her children, she should have never had three of them with Chris—who even before the first one was born showed her his true colors. She talks of her "dream job" as a motivational speaker when she already had that job with Dr Now in the past and somehow couldn't seem to keep that. Does she think one day she'll wake up and become Tony Robbins?*  She spouts a lot of refrigerator-magnet slogans and can't even apply them to herself because she thinks they're all bullshit.

The Melissa I saw last night was no different than the Melissa from 12 seasons ago, minus the hundreds of lost pounds.

Also, this episode had no business being two hours. There was simply no story there to tell.

*I hate Tony Robbins but was the only example of a motivational speaker with name recognition I could think of.

    This!

She's really needs to work with a therapist.

This really was an episode that they should have used to cover 4 separate "Where Are They Now?" folks with 30 minutes each.

He should be suspicious already that she has made over $20,000 in cash over a few weeks in this new business of secret shopping. Come on, he is suppose to be a cop and no one is making that much money in cash.

I have a question about Rio's counterfeit scheme? How is he getting away with it. Did he rob the US mint in order to print his own money. His fake money is able to fool the marker and the machines. I have worked several years in the banking industry and I was able to tell what was fake money from real money. US currency is made of a special material than regular paper and it feels different. Anyone who handles a high volume in cash is going to notice the difference especially if they compare real cash against fake cash by touching both. It is extremely obvious. And we are to assume that they buy all these high end materials hundreds of fake money.

The stores would eventually realize that they have been receiving hundred of thousands dollars in fake currency. Especially when they made their deposits at the banks. Are we to also assume that the banks won't be able to tell the difference.

It would have made more sense if the ladies were actually laundering real money obtain from Rio's other illicit businesses than this so-called super counterfeit money.

I wonder if they are going to use the car dealership in order to wash the money now that the husband has stumbled into the truth.

I think in order to sustain the money laundering storyline, they HAVE to take over the used car business at some point.

I'm thinking it was never fake money and Rio just rolled with this explanation without fully explaining his business.

I understand quitting eating candy, cake, cookies, and sugar. But why no fruit? Yes, it has sugar, but it's got to be better to eat a crap ton of grapes than a huge piece of cheesecake.

I think mainly because you are dealing with folks that have an issue with portion control.  A serving of fruit, in the larger scheme of things, is infinitely better than their sweeter counterpart.  BUT, for a person struggling with portion control, that "hit" of sugar could trigger overall overeating.  Not to mention, some will reason that fruit juice is close enough and continue drinking their calories.

  12. I guess "ow ma lag" is the new catch phrase of the show.

I think Renee was a textbook example of a person that's given up on life.  At this point, they are just existing and not enjoying life.

  13. Awww, this was the middlin' episode with no real drama.  It had all the normal stuff - boyfriend with a job, she was mobile and they lived in a nice area.

Nice lady, but why didn't it look as if she lost any weight even after 100+ pounds lost?

  14. This was the waste of time episode.  It was pretty clear a few minutes in that she wasn't going to do well on the program.  She truly had near zero commitment and really seemed to think the surgery was magical with little work from her.

  15. Things I'm thankful for:

    - There is no Smell-O-Vision yet.

The fact that Dr Now casually told Steven that he smells bad means it is an on going problem.

    - That I not in the business of providing home heath health assistance to people like these folks.

Another takeaway, I don't think Steven and Justin have the same mother.
