  1. Not much?

I suppose everything is relative and many of them make a lot more than that with their other jobs, but for me... if ever they want to have one season be Dancing with the Fans, I'd be more than happy to try. If I make it to week 5, I'll have made more in a month dancing for the show than I made in an entire year, last year. That's insane to me.

    Count yourself lucky, celebrities.

    Life is unfair #reusable

  2. According to Paywizard:

Dancing With the Stars Contestants Salaries

    Weeks 3 & 4: $10,000 per week ($20,000 total)

    Weeks 5 & 6: $20,000 per week ($40,000 total)

    Weeks 7 & 8: $30,000 per week ($60,000 total)

    Weeks 9 & 10: $50,000 per week ($100,000 total)

If a celebrity makes it to the final episode, his or her earnings can go up as high as $345,000.

The Pros salaries are negotiated. During the early years they each earned $1K week. It was raised to $5K per week at some point. It may have changed since these numbers were published. I have heard, but don't remember when or where, that the Pros who have been with the show longer are paid more and are given quite a few extra perks, depending on differing specifics.

That's not much. Guess the celebrities are here for the exposure.

  3. Sharna might possibly be getting a few Australian votes for Nick, not that he needs her help from what you guys are saying about his ardent fan base.

Kym Johnson appears each week on an Australian morning talk show to discuss DWTS U.S. She sounds like a definite Bindi supporter to me.

I know some BSB fans from Australia :) The guys did a tour down under back in May.

Awkward that Bindi turned down DWTS Australia but accepted the USA's.  Since watching the show. I have become a fan of Sharna, think I like her more than Nick lol.

  4. Anyway, back to Nick. I forgot to say earlier that while Nick may have a bigger fan base than Bindi, Sharna (obviously) can't touch Derek's. Though, I think Sharna may be one of the few pros that wouldn't get blown out of the water by Derek in a Freestyle.

I'm not aware since this is my first season watching the show. The only two people I knew before the show were Nick and Paula. What about other contestants, where do they stand in terms of fan base? And how do you determine it? I realize social media doesn't always tell the story since some people's heydays were before twitter, FB, instagram etc. and their fans don't use those applications (but they still vote with phone #TRLDays). For instance, I'm the only member of my family that uses twitter and instagram. I don't even follow Nick (or other members) on his FB page or twitter acct but I follow BSB accounts. However, I still support and vote for him.

  5. I think it had to do with her style of singing seeming to be "opera" and her not being a legit opera singer. But Katherine herself never referred to herself as an opera singer, only as a classical singer or classical-crossover singer. But I can tell you that there was a large contingent who loved her so much that they would stay up into the wee hours to watch DWTS live (not pre-recorded video) during the East Coast airing and they were voting on multiple Facebook accounts and some probably had proxy IPs.

But back to Nick. Apparently DWTS has opened up their website videos for international viewers in Australia for the benefit of Bindi's fans. I would like to know if they've extended the same courtesy to Nick's fans in other countries.

I used a proxy to test several countries in Europe and Mexico: nope.

His fans usually upload the performances and access videos pretty quickly though.

Regarding multiple FB accounts, I read similar things with Nick's fans. One person created over 250 FB accounts for voting, that's just insane. I'm not that type of person though. If he is eliminated, I'm not gonna cry over it...it is just a show. And I'm more of a BSB fan than a Nick fan so if he leaves early then they can hit the studio to record their new album (win-win for me).

  6. Not so sure about that. I have friends in Australia and apparently the Irwin's are vastly more popular in the US than they are in Australia. Many don't particularly care for Bindi (could be why she turned down DWTSAUS and said yes to here.)

Nick could reasonably have more international voters that will vote for him than Bindi does, but I don't think either are hurting for votes.

To be honest, I have never of Bindi until this show but I have heard of her dad though.

The Backstreet Boys have close to 11 million followers on FB (I believe their largest social platform) so voting should be convenient for their fans then.

  7. Getting international votes for what?  And how can you see where a person's votes are coming from?

There's no way of seeing the official votes...just an observation, his non-American fans (or BSB fans) have tweeted showing their votes.  If I'm not mistaken, you can't register for an ABC account unless you are inside the USA so they prob used a proxy to mask their IP address.  I have seen these tweets from places like Germany, Italy, Isarel, Japan, and South America (especially from Brazil).  BSB were known to have strong fan base in Europe (where they started their career) and South America (their international fans seemed more passionate than their USA fans). I remember when MTV live-broadcasted their 100-Hr Around The World Promo Tour for Black & Blue in 2000, 48,000 Brazilian fans showed up to greet them and almost flipped the bus over (it was crazy).  They did 6 concerts in Brazil earlier this year, safe to say their fan club is still solid in that country (heard they almost got hurt during an after party...those crazy Brazilians). Anyway, BSB fans have a lot of experience (20+ years) than say young Hayes' teenage fans.

Not DWTS related but in case there are BSB fans lurking around, a new German ad.  Kinda fitting since Germany was BSB's first major breakthrough #BSBHistory

Though not as lavish as this Swedish commercial from last year. Sweden was the country BSB went to record their first album in 1995.

  8. Congrats to Nick and his wife.

  9. Sharna Burgess’ ‘DWTS’ Blog: Nick Soared After Last-Minute Routine Changes

This week was a particularly challenging week with Nick having to have a day off to fly to NY for a performance with the Backstreet Boys, and having two dances – one of which he was the team leader – and he took that very seriously.

Nick put a lot of pressure on himself this week to be great, and he was. I really see how much he wants this; how much he wants to make the Backstreet Boys proud; how much he wants to make himself proud, and how much he wants to take this all the way to the end. As his coach and his pro partner, that really excites me, and me so proud of him.

Our Argentine Tango may not have been received well by the judges tonight, however he really did step up to the plate in such a difficult week. We had to change a lot of our choreography on Sunday because the bed of roses on our stage was so big, and I only had an hour to change that on him; so everything considered, Nick performed beautifully. He was so strong, he was calm, he didn’t forget one step, and took care of me every step of the way especially in that lift which was not easy. Even though our scores weren’t what Nick wanted, and he did get critiqued for the Argentine Tango, he came back ready to give his all for our team dance, and to be the team leader that he knew he should be. He rallied everybody together, he brought everybody in and really helped deliver the performance of the night.
Going into next week, Icons week, we have an awesome song, highlighting a wonderful icon that I can’t wait to tell the story about. We have contemporary for our style of dance, which I think is going to suit him beautifully. I’m going to drill him on his lines and his posture, and put to work all of the notes that Carrie Ann gave us because I know he wants to make her proud and I know that Nick is waiting for that moment when he turns around and she says, “You did it!”

Thanks again to all the fans for their amazing support, we are so grateful! #TeamSharnick

    Xoxo,

    Sharna

  10. We have seen repeatedly on this show that that means nothing because the show still uses traditional phone voting, online at ABC.com and Facebook. The kind of fans Hayes has, likely tweens and pre-teens, these kids are on Snapchat, Vine (where Hayes gained his "fame"), twitter, Instagram, etc. Ask them to trend something and that they can do all day but they are simply not going to dial and vote or even go on ABC.com and even Facebook that much. And so these kids will always get eliminated.

The issue with the social media fanbases is the fans start feeling ignored (we made you famous) and don't vote as much. Then they trend stuff on twitter because their fav gets eliminated. They are good for early social media promotional though so I think we will continue to see them in the cast. And Hayes was never the real famous one of his crew. He probably will benefited from the show.

Then perhaps they are not really hard core fans, following him & others for the sake of being part of the "in" crowd?

  11. According to the interview below, Nick said he had choice of music but passed over the Ghostbusters song. I'm glad he did. I just loved that team dance, watched it at least 10 times already.

If it isn't for Nick, I would probably throw my votes at Tamar or Alexa (feel sorry for them and I do think they are good dancers).

Kinda suprised about Hayes' departure given his big social following.  During the TRL era, teenagers voted like crazy.  Opposing fans were ready to jump at each other's throat (BSB and N'Sync rivarly comes to mind). Perhaps, social media and music stardom are not quite the same thing. I'm from NC and had no clue who he was until this show (actually still not quite sure what he is famous for). He seemed like a nice kid though.

  12. I missed the early dances but saw Nick's on youtube. He was not sharp (no energy), not too surprising. When I saw clips of him performing at the H&M Balmain Fashion Show in NY with BSB, my first thought was "that can't good especially with 2 dances this week".

So far, disappionted with most of the individual performances I saw (think my expectation was too high)  Liked Bindi's and Carlos'. Didn't see Alexa's but heard it was good, will have to watch it later tomorrow.

  13. From Sharna's blog http://hollywoodlife.com/2015/10/20/dwts-sharna-burgess-saturday-night-fever-blog-dancing-with-the-stars/

Next week is Halloween week, and Halloween is also Nick’s favorite holiday celebration…EVER! I can’t say much yet about our plans, but we are super excited about this one!!! There is also a team dance with pros and stars together next week which we’re looking forward to. I can’t say much about that either just yet, but know it’s going to be so epic, I can’t wait!!!

Too bad Nick already used the "Everybody" song. Not a really fan of that song tbh but I love costume themed music videos. Mimicking it for Halloween week would have been awesome.

And speaking of music, Nick just revealed a collaboration with Avril Lavigne

While at iHeartRadio HQ, Nick tells us about the new song exclusively:

"I talked to Avril about doing a collab together, and we became friends -- we were on tour together with the Backstreet Boys. She was into the idea, and she really liked it. She liked the song that I had written, and she put her vocals on the song, and it was really cool."

Nick also told us what the song is all about. He added:

"It's a really fun play on a couple. It's like a crazy stalker guy, but then i'm calling her a crazy stalker girl. And we're saying, 'You need to get over me,' and then she's like,'No, you need to get over me.' We're giving our own stories of the situation that had gone down in the song."

Loved Avril so kinda excited about this.  I'm glad that it is a rock song.  My favorite BSB album is "Never Gone" (rock album) and Nick sounded great in it.  He is not even my favorite vocalist from the group (far from it).

  14. Paula was arm dancing, Carlos was stripping...I'm not a dancer but were these really dances?

I missed Andy's and Hayes'.  I thought Derek was going to drop Bindi, maybe not a rumba but at least there were actual "dancing".  Alexa was underscored. Alek was okay.  I thought Nick did a good job. Tamar was pretty good.

  15. First post...like several others, I was sucked into watching DWTS for the first time b/c of Nick lol. I usually avoid these type of shows b/c I think they are rigged.  So far the more I watched, the more it appeared that way but admittedly there were some fun & interesting dances.

So Nick will be doing the John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever routine to the Bee Gees' 1976 song You Should Be Dancing on Monday. Could be fun.

Interesting that Olivia Newton-John will be the guest judge this week.  Her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, was filming with Nick in his movie "Dead 7" few months ago.

Nick and Sharna performed the Everybody (Backstreet's Back) routine on the Ellen Show yesterday (clearer version than the one on DWTS).
