  1. Even though Nick didn't win the trophy, he lost weight and had a great time. Glad to see him have fun out there. And I had fun going off-topic here :D #sorrymods Like I mentioned in the other thread, glad that it is over (back to normal hobbies for me). Had a girl crush on Sharna and enjoyed her connections/moments with Nick. Good luck to the Aussie, perhaps we'll see her on tour with the boys someday. And to Nick, rest up and get back into the studio. I want to see a new BSB album!

  2. I missed the final show but congrats to Bindi, Derek, and their fans.

And congrats to Nick/Sharna and Alek/Lindsey for making it to the end. It was fun but glad it is over, back to the norms for me (sports and skyscrapers and oh normal sleeping schedule). I may or may not be back, some of you will be happy to see me gone but I enjoyed the time here despite the bickering here and there. Adios.

  3. I will say this, while I wasn't blown away by Nick's freestyle, I haven't been able to get Larger Than Life out of my head all day. (So...win? Damn you catchy Backstreet Boys songs.)

Since their managers/label decided they'd sell more things if they teamed up. ;P

But Nick (and BSB) is independent, no longer with a major label (one of the reasons why they struggle to get radio airtime). They have been releasing stuff under their own label since parting with Jive, which I don't mind since they have more artistic freedom with their music.

  4. I was a bit underwhelmed by Nick's freestyle, could have been better. The jive was good though. Bind's freestyle was beautiful but wish they didn't put a picture of her dad at the end.

I will spare myself from the "debate". Good night.

  5. Since I only know the BSB  for a couple of hits, just for shitz and giggles I looked up the lyrics to Larger than Life, and it's really a love letter to the fans, I know it's not news to them, but it was to me .   That's pretty nice, and a very good choice for the Freestyle. Good Luck Nick. Despite the odds, maybe a nice guy will finish first.

  6. Get The Scoop On The 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 21 Two-Night Finale

The Dancing With The Stars finals are just THREE days away and JJJ has the scoop on what’s going to happen on the two-night finale.

MONDAY: Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold, Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson, and Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess will compete in two rounds of dance.

In the first, one judge will help each couple choose the creative elements of each dance, which is a re-do to a new song. Carrie Ann Inaba will work alongside Lindsay and Alek AND Bindi and Derek. Julianne Hough is with Nick and Sharna, and Bruno Tonioli is with Carlos and Witney.

In the second round, the couples take on a freestyle dance featuring special effects, additional dancers and unexpected surprises. There will also be special performances from Meghan Trainor, singing “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” and Who Is Fancy, Ariana Grande and Meghan performing “Boys Like You.”

At the end of the night, the couple with the lowest combined viewer and judge votes from the previous two weeks will be eliminated.

TUESDAY: There will be live dancing and show-stopping performances at the Grove shopping center and in the DWTS ballroom. The night kicks off with a high-energy opening number, featuring a reunion of all 13 of this season’s couples at the Grove, with performances from Alexander Jean, Andy Grammer, Chaka Khan, Elle King and Nick Carter.

Eliminated contestant Kim Zolciak will return to the ballroom to dance a Samba with Tony Dovolani to “I Dream of Jeannie,” which she was never able to perform, along with encore dances from the eliminated celebrities. The cast of the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars: Live! Dance All Night Tour” will perform a dance to Avicii’s “Broken Arrows”.

Then, the three finalists will each dance a repeat dance from this season. In the last element of competition, the couples will perform a new routine as part of a “24-Hour Fusion Challenge.” The remaining couples will fuse two contrasting dance styles that they’ve performed this season and they’ll have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points BEFORE the mirrored-ball trophy winner is announced.

VOTING: Viewers may cast their votes for their favorite teams via phone on Monday night during and up to 60 minutes after the end of the broadcast in each time zone. Online voting at www.abc.com and on Facebook at https://apps.facebook.com/votedwts/ is open for 15 hours, beginning from the start of the episode Monday, November 23 on the East Coast at 8PM ET/5PM PT and closing at 11AM ET/8AM PT the next day.

  7. So they have old British X-Factor shows where I am, and they did a retrospective of Simon's favorite contestants, and One Direction was part of it.  I was interested to learn that this band started to get young girls following them from the first show and by the finals there were thousands following them. So Simon thought they were a lock for the finals.  But I was even more shocked to learn that after all that, they didn't make the finals.  They came in third and were sent packing. They've gone on to be the biggest selling act from that show in the show's history and as of November 2015 according to Forbes they are the 4th ranked highest paid celebrities in the world.

Also, Floyd Mayweather, who was eliminated early in Season 5 (His partner was Karina Smirnoff) is the highest paid celebrity in the world.

    http://www.forbes.com/celebrities/list/#tab:overall

As long as God continues to create little girls, there will always be boybands/groups.  Yes I quoted the guy who stole millions from BSB, N'Sync, and countless others...he may be a crook but he is right.

That Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was so over-hyped...can't believe they made that much money.

I am showing my crazy, competitive fangirl side here, but I still count BSB as truly having the American 1st week sales record. When Millennium initially broke that record, fans didn't have any sort of record-breaking in mind. It was just huge excitement for the new album and eagerness to buy it immediately. After that happened, the 'N Sync fans were determined to beat the BSB record and there was definite planning to do so....

Back to my adult self now.

I wonder what the N'Sync fans did with the extra cds.  I remember reading about one fan who bought 200 copies :o  And if it makes you happy, the more important stat imo is the overall sales record and Millennium outsold No Strings Attached even in the US (according to the Nielsen SoundScan data).

  8. THIS. . . I would so enjoy watching AJ compete. I think he's a good solo dancer but watching him with a partner would be interesting. Plus he's full of s$$t most of the time and you never know what's going to come out of his mouth (most of us old school BSB fans are used to AJ's tall tales lol)

I might "face-palm" a lot and end up hurting myself.  If he competes, the forum needs to enable emojis to protect me from physical pain.

  9. They are definitely not in One Direction territory but their last tour (in 2014) made the list of top 50 worldwide tours coming in ahead of Keith Urban, Phish, Demi Lovato, Enrique Iglesias with Pitbull, Blake Shelton, John Legend, Lady Antebellum and a bunch of others. They are doing all right. I do think a large chunk of their fan base is in Europe and I have no idea if those folks are putting in the effort to vote for him though.

Early in their career, Europe was their biggest market. But after they debuted their American album in 1997, the US became their main market. Majority of their concerts were/are in North America.  However, their international fans seemed more passionate though.

A breakdown of their last world tour (shows):

    North America: 82

    Europe: 46

    Asia: 30

    South America: 10

    Australia/New Zealand: 5

    Middle East: 3

They had the most success globally in the 90s/early 2000s followed by Westlife (popular everywhere except the USA). N'Sync was big in America, but wasn't as popular internationally.  Not sure if BSB still holds the 1st week international sale record, but their Black&Blue album sold 5 million copies. Shortly afterwards, they went into hiatus and their fanbase took a dive.  N'Sync holds the American 1st week sale record at 2+ million copies.

Their popularity is not what it was, far from their $300+ millions grossed tour in 2001 (though they never did finish that tour because of 911 attack) but they are doing pretty decent for a bunch of guys in their 30s/40s.  Their fans are not teenagers anymore so I don't think they are really into these types of stuff (voting)...majority of them are moms and are busy.

  10. I agree about Nick and thought the same thing when I first heard his name being bounced around but some seem to think it could be a possibility so who knows.

AJ said that Nick will take a break after DWTS before they go into the studio so I doubt he is on the tour.

  11. Soooo I per-ordered Nick's new album today (not sure what to expect). But tbh, I'm more excited about AJ's new solo project especially after hearing the live acoustic version of his new single...that man can sing (it helps to have a great voice). I read that it was Sharna who asked AJ to compete in DWTS and he might do it next fall. After the last couple of weeks, not sure if I can handle another season #toomuchdrama

  12. Missed half of the show yesterday, but glad that Nick made it to the final.  Honestly, I'm ready for the end...

Anyway, if Nick and Sharna were to use BSB stuff in the final, what song would you like to see them do?

Personally, I would like to see a more recent BSB material. I think "Trust Me" would be a nice song for a partner dance...it is a fun good feel song that would appeal to the older crowd. Different than their early music.

If Sharna wants to stick to Nick's strength and recreate the concert atmosphere again, "Straight Through My Heart" would be a good choice.

Or going wayyyyy back, "Get Another Boyfriend", anyone?

Secretly, I want them to do a dark and dramatic power ballad freestyle, perhaps "Shattered"...maybe too depressing?

But I have a feeling that if they are going the BSB route, it will most likely be "I Want It That Way" or "Larger Than Life".  No explanations needed.

So what do you guys think, what BSB song would you like to see them use?

  13. eta: And frankly I've always thought the whole "the show is making me not like them and not vote for them" is a cop-out. Because to me that makes one sound as malleable as the people they claim are voting for whoever based on the show's edit. This isn't that deep in my opinion. You like someone's dancing, vote for them. You don't like their dancing, don't or if it's that you're just a fan in general and vote for that reason, then do that too.

I honestly have little patience for the "well I liked them just fine but the evil producers have turned me off so much I'll vote elsewhere to show them..." Of course I don't even vote ever anyway but I'm just saying I find that so juvenile and essentially still making said producers influence your feelings good or bad. Like who you like and vote for them or not. I just feel like some make this cheesy show so much more complicated and deeper than it needs to be, IMO.

I have no problems with people voting to show their displeasure.  Ignoring and pretending that the shenanigans don't exist are worse imo. If people want to express their dissatisfaction through votes, then they should be allowed to. Changes don't happen by staying quiet.

  14. And regarding votes. I might be wrong but ideally it makes sense for producers to put performers who pull in votes last or close to last. They are the ones viewers/voters typically want to see and are willing to sit thru the show for (hello ratings). The law of average or observation could give hints.
