But seriously though, I really wanted Zac Tinker's Sonny and Chad to at least try and see if they could work together.

That's the story I wanted to see. Grieving Chad relying on Sonny and things taking an unexpectedly intimate turn that has them questioning their relationship. That's a lot more interesting than Stephanie.

  2. Days plots aren't typically too complicated for me to follow, but all the Gina business was so, so convoluted. First, Gina was the name Hope used when she didn't remember who she was. (Where did the name come from, originally?) Then Gina referred to a real princess who used to work with Stefano and who out of pure coincidence was an aged double of the daughter of a Salem cocktail singer. Ok, sure. Then, after Shawn Douglas threw the princess off a balcony, Gina referred to an alternate personality of Hope who just thought she was the princess. Albeit, in a nice budget saving move, now the same age as Hope.

And don't get me started on Sleepy Time Hope, who was yet another non-Gina alternate personality that wasn't actually an alternate personality.

Do I have all this right?

In re: Law & Order:  The order of the credits.

The way I relate to it and remember what's what are the sayings, "The long arm of the law" or "Johnny Law" being the police, and the Judge declares Order "Order in the court."

    THANK YOU!

I have been waiting 20 years for an answer that satisfying. I am at peace. 🤓

But it is the bailiff who enforces “Order in the court!” and it sounds like a bailiff is pretty much a police officer: wikipedia.org/wiki/Bailiff#United_States
    🤔hmmmm…
Is this the origin story of how they got the Law and the Order of Law & Order backwards?!?

I'll stipulate that it makes (a little bit of?) sense to credit the two casts in the order that they appear in the story. To avoid mass confusion, I guess? (Personally I think I could handle the cognitive dissonance of seeing Hugh Dancy's name first, but maybe they ran a focus group.)

    BUT

Crediting the cops first would  actually be FINE, had they not deliberately inserted the words LAW and ORDER as literal topic headers for the actors. That's where they lose me. 🤯

Was anyone else jolted by Maroun's use of the word "boobs" instead of breasts? Seemed completely out of character.

That jumped out to me also. I skipped back and replayed it convinced I'd heard it wrong. But nope. She said boobs.

An aside — The opening credits flash LAW, and credit the cops, then ORDER and credit the prosecutors. Isn't that ass-backward? Don't the cops maintain order, and the lawyers practice, well, the law. Has anyone else spent two decades wondering about that? No? Just me? 🤓

  6. As I understand it, Dee made it a condition of her return that Wayne return with her. (FWIW I can see why, I've seen clips of their original pairing — they were terrific — so I understand why she'd want him with her.) She even snagged special billing for both of them. Given all that, I've always wondered how she felt about ending up in a long term pairing with... the other guy.

  7. That makes total sense and I appreciate the quick response!

In this case though I don't think that explains what I'm seeing. I'm in threads that get several posts a day; they rarely go silent for a day, let alone a month.

  8. I returned to the forums after a month away. I'd like to scroll through all the posts I've missed. But the forum threads stop when I left, have a hard break that says "one month later..." and then picked up again a coupler of days ago. How can I expand that missing months and see those posts?

  9. Some questions I have... 🤓

When Julie and Susan were the two big rivals in the show, which one did audiences tend to root for?

Were Mickey & Laura ever a couple the audience rooted for? Or was that marriage always seen as an obstacle to Bill & Laura?

I know that the truth about Mike's paternity came out when he was a teen-ish. But here's what I don't know: did the two bombshells of the rape and the paternity come out together? Or did knowledge of the rape come later? When Mike learned that Uncle Bill was his father, did he also learn he was the product of Bill raping his mother? Bonus question: did Jennifer learn about the rape on-screen?

Did Tommy ever drive story after he drove his sister to the convent? In family photos I saw online recently, Tommy looks like Tom's younger brother, not son. Odd bit of casting.

I miss AW too. Heche as the twins is probably my favorite performance(s) on any soap, period, as well as my favorite dual role in any medium. Vicky and Marley could be dressed and styled identically, silent in the background of a scene, and you could still tell them apart. Their walk, their posture, their expressions were different. And don't even get me started on her performances as one twin pretending to be the other. She was amazing.

I love Days but I don't think I've ever seen a performance on Heche's level.

    😥

  11. I've just caught up on the week. Two entries in my ongoing "Zach Tinker is Recast of the Year" submission. First, Sonny and Will in bed with the crumbs is one of the single most believable "couple" moments I can remember between those two, recast or otherwise. And second, the platonic connection between Sonny and Chad is very well written and portrayed. I've seen those friendships in real life but rarely on TV.

That performance really was spectacular. And the producers took the time necessary to make it look believable. Just as you said, the blocking and the doubles used really made it seem like two actresses were on camera at once.

Very few actors can pull off being evil and then nice again afterwards. The audience doesn't accept it. Once you see someone is capable of selling "cruel", you see them differently. And some actors are just more compelling as one more than the other.

Eileen is able to play both sides of that coin, but she's the exception and even there, TPTB have a preference. Kristen therefore will always be evil.

Renee Jones pulled that off as Lexie, too.
