  1. I liked the opening sequence where Dolores was doing for Arnold what William did for his father-in-law.  And it kind of seems like to prevent Arnold from breaking down like all the versions of Delos did, Ford's solution was to turn him into Bernard.

My problem with this season is I can't tell how it fit in with the real world.  I'm hoping it's how and not if, because if this season was just a fantasy then it's waste. Last season, Archer was PI searching for who killed Woodhouse which made some sense since Archer has issues surrounding death and Woodhouse. This season might seem better when we see what's going on in the real world and what Archer is trying to do. One thing I liked about this show in general is the way it turns certain cliches upside down, but this season seems less satire of adventure/mysterious island scenario and more just adventure story.  Still I hope they'rebuilding to something and next season we'll see parallels to the real world and danger island. And I enjoy watching it, but YMMV.

Totally excited about the return Noah the anthropology student next week from Pirate Island!

Since the treasure (which is totally not a gold monkey) historically belongs to Lana's people and she's helping Cyril steal it, unless Archer gets to it first, but then he risks his mother claiming it as hers since he'd have found it while working for her, maybe the idol is a metaphor for AJ, and comatose Archer is worrying that with him out of the picture Lana will get back with Cyril and he'll help raise her "treasure," or maybe his mother might try for custody.

  3. Oddly, the "civilian works with cops to solve crimes" show this reminds me the most of is Numb3rs, because Cameron is more than just one guy; he has a whole team of non-cops.  And there's a strong sense of family that holds everyone together.

Several decades ago in the 70s, Bill Bixby was the main character on the show called "The Magician".  That series was recently released on dvd.

Much like "The Magician",  I can 't envision "Deception" lasting more than one season.  Actually, I can't imagine "Deception" lasting more than a few weeks.

On the other hand, "Johnathan Creek" lasted more than one season.
