I always assumed that they just dropped it, but that a regular happy sex life was picked up at some point.  I know that Zach loves Lane and I know that sex isn't the most important aspect of a relationship, but I don't see him sticking around for 20 years, or however long it's been, in a sexless marriage.  I think we just didn't see the conversation.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I assumed the same. I'd like to think Lane eased up with Rory's encouragement to try sex again -- on a bed! No sand. Sand bad. Yowch.

Okay probably a very unpopular opinion but having binge watched GG from Thanksgiving to Sunday my conclusion is that the Gilmores are horrible people....like really horrible. Lorelai and Rory abused every BF they had (even though other than Luke they were all pretty awful). I know that Dean gets trashed a lot but Jess was a whiny jerk, Tristan was worse, Logan was a pompous ass...just awful awful people with no redeeming qualities. Max, Jake, Christopher were all pushy and needy....constantly groveling...just ugh! Dean was right when he told Luke that Lorelai would just use him and then cast him aside as soon as he became inconvenient or Lorelai found another shiny penny. Rory wasn't any different. Committed relationship was a foreign concept to Rory.

Emily treated her staff like trash and Lorelai and Rory never ever said a damn thing. They needed the Gilmore money so they just ignored it. Richard came around some but he crushed anyone who got in his way. I know they tried to make him into a big old teddy bear but he was pretty much a one dimensional character. None of the tear jerking moments jerked a single tear.

The only character I really liked was Paris.

And what the hell was with random street singers who couldn't sing and everyone ignored!! Was that supposed to be funny? Quirky? What? It was annoying!

I loved that in the revival Rory was pretty much a loser and Dean lived happily ever after.

I wish I could give this more than one heart react. It's gotten to the point now where I'm struggling to even have GG on as background noise because the characters are all such awful people.

With football, looks like I'm going to be a day behind again. 😞

    I'll miss you guys.

I somehow forgot that this would be the case as it was last week and just read the archive to see tonight's questions. Guess I'll skip watching tomorrow. I feel silly now.

No Jeopardy in Chicagoland today. Stupid impeachment hearings.

Football preempted LA last night, so our episodes are a day behind. I thought I was going crazy that all conversation about "tonight's" clues were dated yesterday.

Arrggh, another Sookie gripe. Her recipe for deviled eggs. One part yolk to two parts mayonnaise!? Is she insane?

Throughout the whole series, it was obvious the writers never bothered to read a cookbook and get an idea of what goes into any foods. The one that always gets me is when she's grilling Luke, "Do you put walnuts in your bechamel?!" It's a mother sauce: butter, flour, milk. No one would think to put walnuts in there.

And most of her food combinations sound terrible -- just throwing together a bunch of ingredients/foods the writers think sound fancy.

They didn't announce the renewal for season 3 until January this past year. Dana Gould tweeted on November 21: "Th-th-th-that's all, folks! Or is it?" I hope IFC brings it back!

I just read that it's been canceled. 😢

ETA: Figured I should include a link: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/stan-evil-canceled-at-ifc-1180473

    I'm so bummed!

    Cool!  What kind of snake?

More repeat stuff:  poor mail delivery, making fun of Star Trek, golf "spoiling a good walk," etc.

Rory goes golfing bc she is supposed to pick a sport to play at Chilton.  Then the next season, Emily asks her if they do any kind of P.E. at school.

Lorelai is the best and brightest of her class but doesn't know how to use the word "ubiquitous" in her mid-30s.

Rory at Yale (or Harvard).  Problematic in many ways as she is not nearly as accomplished as many people I know who went to those schools or even some who were not offered a place.  And then she can't handle 5 courses (but then later finishes 4 years' work in 3.5 while being super-involved with the paper, having a boyfriend, etc).

In Tick, Tick..., Lorelai cannot leave the disaster dinner party bc her car is blocked in.  But Digger's parents and Rory (the only 2 who could have arrived after her) have already left.

At the end of TTTB, Richard hits a drive all of 30 yards, and Lloyd tells him he hit a great shot.  ?

    Ball python.

The show also repeatedly denigrates stew. What's wrong with stew!? Both Richard and Rory love pot roast, which is fine, but it's not OK for anyone to like stew, which is essentially just pot roast in a thick broth.

Neither Lorelai nor Rory seem to have proper command of the English language, despite the show constantly telling us how brilliant they are. They constantly misuse good vs well, which drives me up a wall!

Lately, more often than not, when I turn on GG, I groan, "Ugh. This episode annoys me." and turn it right back off. In addition to all their personality flaws, I find it harder to also ignore all the things we pick apart in this thread.

I really don't think they were mispronouncing SIrius.  I think she was being sarcastic because Cyrus is so not a typical dog name.

Agreed. On both -- Cyrus is the name of my pet snake.

  9. I am in love with Rio and Jeana! They both look FIERCE after their makeovers, and neither of them are drama queens. Liz can get the eff off my screen any day now. Agree with the assessment that Tyra is trolling Christina with that horrible green-hair-black-roots. How is that supposed to be high fashion? And Liberty's hair is barely even strawberry blonde; not red, and definitely not ginger (or fire crotch).

And Ivana was a total mess. But really, how hard would it have been to have given her some very simple, but very necessary, and real direction? Like... put your chin down! Her entire shoot was looking straight up her nose. They tell these girls to practice and "learn your angles," but so rarely offer useful critique.

Oh, and yeah. Law still sounds like a junior-high dropout with a heart of gold, but he looks fine without all that hair.

If Tyra used her own eggs with a surrogate, she would've been given the shots to encourage egg production and release so they could be harvested.

Jeana is so beautiful and she looks so damn tall. I saw her in the kitchen next to the others and noticed how short she was, but you don't notice on the runway or in photos, which is great. I am hoping it's not just her hair making her look tall because I have a feeling Tyra's going to cut it all off.

Brendi reminds me of Emma Stone and Erin reminds me of Cree Summer.

Jeana has alopecia, so that's a wig -- and not a very good one. The first half of the episode, she looked like a Barbie doll with Barbie hair. Her face looked much better than it did last week, though. Like she's gotten some sleep and a good moisturizer.

I'm not going to miss homegirl, and hope Brendi and Liz will be next, though I doubt it; they bring the drama.

Haven't decided who I'm cheering for yet (and still learning names) but I think I like Rio so far.

  11. Eons and eons ago, when Jackson was newer, didn't he say he was bullied and made fun of during school (especially because of his eyes)? Now, he was an all-around heartthrob, and prom king as a freshman? I'm having trouble finding the quote from whenever he said it, though.

I loved it so much I rewatched tonight. There were so many good little moments like Jason getting dressed on the train. The pocket square that later became the molotov wick, and Janet giving him and subsequently taking back the briefcase ("take my credit card to the hedge fund")

Writing for The Good Place has to be so much fun. Anything that gets on your nerves that week can be written straight into you script, as a Bad Place minor annoyance.

Tears of joy for Mindy and Derrick!

    Talk about Maximum Derek!

Gonna have to give an unpopular opinion here: I LOVE this show. LOVE love love it. And while the individual jokes, the delivery of said jokes, and omg the costuming!! were perfect, this was among my less favorite eps this season. Too many overdone tropes. "Hide in this room -- no one ever uses it!" of course telegraphs that the room is about to be put to use. That they would get to the portal and not have enough pins. That Michael would make an Ultimate Sacrifice to protect one of the humans. For a show with such fresh and original writing and plotlines, I was disappointed there were so many easily predictable scenarios in one episode.

Things I did love: Everyone looking like straight-up hotties in their disguises. Dax slyly hitting on his wife. "I'm luggage!" Molotov cocktail -- and how it creates a new problem. Every time Bad Janet says "Fat dink" with a heavy emphasis on the "d." Farts!

While on vacation for the holidays, I had a chance to binge watch this.  It was my first plunge into the world of Netflix.  Are there outtakes available somewhere?

I've never looked for them (just googled for three seconds now), but don't think there are any available, sadly.

Ooh, I have many unpopular opinions.

    1.  Rory and Lorelai are simply horrible people.  Self-absorbed narcissists who have the gall to get upset at other people for the same behavior (or even behavior that isn't nearly as bad).

    2.  Logan was Rory's best fit (educated, similar goals/background, challenged her, etc) and actually one of the only characters who demonstrated personal growth (until it was taken back in the revival).

    3.  The revival was total drek.  I mean, it was BEYOND garbage.

    4.  Jess is a dick.  I have met and know many guys like Jess and they are exhausting and they are generally dicks.  He was a HORRIBLE boyfriend and then gets mad when his gf tries to stop him from mauling her.  He's rude to everyone, he thinks his snarky "cynicism" makes him cool, and he hits below the belt for no reason.  I will never understand why anyone is "Team Jess."

    5.  I liked Season 7.

    6.  Rory's story lines were the most boring for me.

A simple "heart" isn't enough; I gotta give you a hug.

I put reruns on in the background while I'm doing other things, and the more I watch, the less I like Lorelai and Rory. Very self-absorbed, very loud, often shrill. And I'm 103% with you on #2 and 4. Yes, Jess showed profound growth, but that's not difficult, given that he started down at rock bottom.

  15. I can't be the only one who's dying to see outtakes from this episode! I was impressed they were able to get through an entire take with everyone keeping appropriately straight faces. That whole absurd dinner scene was a surprising delight -- I expected to groan through the whole thing. "You're right! The mustache does make it more fun!"

And Max's comment about Bert and Ernie being gay. The dance-off between Fernando and Jesse. Joey admitting his kids are basically Satan's spawns... Loved this episode.

(Though I did love Vicki's return in the next ep.) I hope they put her back together with Danny -- especially with her calling out all the weird Full House stuff.

I think this was my favorite episode so far. Between DJ's crack about Steph's boob job and every word out of Gia's mouth, I was howling.

And I *loved* Fernando trying to be Jewish. His mispronunciations really got me.

I had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly when DJ made the boob job joke. I much prefer the jokes than seeingher boobs all over the place like we did in S1; that was over the top.

I love this...the girl's reaction when Dad messes up the first car always makes me giggle. She's so damn cute.

I absolutely adore this commercial. As a woman who's into cars, I love this new wave of car commercials spotlighting girls/women (and there have been so many!). I loved this one was a little girl wanting to win a pinewood derby (which usually makes you think of Boy Scouts) and correcting her dad's mistakes along the way, and not the other way around. <3

  18. If I quoted all the posts I agree with, my post would fill a page. I just want to hug everyone who's with me in hating Jess. He's such a jerk! And he even admits it, in so many words -- how any of the #TeamJess people can overlook when Rory (I think?) calls him out on once being attentive, and then turning into a jerk, and he replies that "Yeah, I was trying to get you before, and now I have you." That it was all about the chase -- which when you think about in context of the potential rape scenario just discussed is thoroughly disturbing. Would he have ghosted her if he had succeeded?

There are a hundred other reasons I can't stand him (especially since I've left the marathon on in the background, and that's a lot of Jess all at once), but most of you have expressed it more eloquently than I would, and have hit most of the salient points. Group hug!!

I HATE that commercial.  I didn't know it was a TV commercial, though!  I've only heard it on Pandora.

Likewise, I've only heard it on Pandora -- which is the worst! You can't pause then FF or switch stations (easily) through Pandora, so you have to listen to it from beginning to end. And it's not even an effective commercial; it took me forever to even realize what they were saying.
