I really believe that one big reason for its popularity is the outrageous vanity sizing. Meri frequently states she wears a SMALL in several of the items where the sizing goes from XS to 3XL.

So let's have a few more pieces of pie since we are now a Small!!

Judging by the photos she has posted to "promote" her "business," I don't think Meri should be wearing a small in anything. LLR is not supposed to fit skin tight like all of her clothes seem to (except the leggings, of course!)

Remember when I said I have a coworker who looks like Sobbyn we all went out to lunch today and I said to her you look very familiar.  She replied that her cousin is on Sister Wives.  I guess that is what inbreeding does.

Oh my gosh. I would have so many questions!

Can anyone help me out?  What does, "Robyn:  Breaking the Chains," even mean?

I assumed this was referring to the broken chain of Robin's purrritty locket, forever discarded on the HomeChurch floor. ;)

Hell, most of the Kingston Sect is doing just that and they aren't being prosecuted, so everyone at the march is safe.

Not to defend that piece of shit, but he DOES have four wives, ya know. And I imagine he has had his fair share of fights with them over the 967 years he has been married, so I bet it IS a little hard for him to remember a particular metaphor that he flung out to a random wife during an argument years ago. In fact, this is probably why he just shuts down every time a wife comes at him; it's easier to not engage and have to remember the particulars of his life with that wife (let HER do all the heavy lifting in that department) than have to admit he doesn't remember something he said or did that meant everything in the world to that wife.

Seriously, sometimes I will begin to tell Mr. 201 a story, and I can't remember if I've already told him, or if that was my mom I was talking to...or my BFF... or the neighbor, or my son. Can you even imagine trying to keep your conversations straight when you have FOUR WIVES (tm)?!?

Flipping back and forth now (watching the Golden Globes, catching clips on commercials). On the note of sounding superficial, during the interview session when Meri's talking about the catfish-er (clips from the episode, Meri Catfished), I am just realizing how scary she looks with that make up job.

Meri's makeup is positively ghastly. I was shocked when I saw how young, thin and lovely she looked on some of the couch session clips during the road trip show compared to now. I feel like they've all aged a lot but Meri really does not know how to work with what she's got.

On the same token, WTF is up with all the older girls' dark hair and terrible eyebrows? I'm all for people looking the way they want to look, but man, Madi, Mykelti and Mariah were all absolutely beautiful with blonde hair and natural brows. Now it seems they all go in on the jumbo size burgundy Miss Clairol, and Mykelti and Mariah draw their brows on with Sharpie while Madison's have disappeared completely. Not a good look for anyone.

It bugs me when Cody refers to "our church".  What "church" is he talking about.  Their family isn't a church, but it's not the official LDS church nor the Warren Jeffs FLDS so is there an established FLDS organization or is Cody talking nonsense!

The Browns technically belong to a fundamentalist Mormon sect known as the AUB (Apostolic United Brethren.) They hold "home church" as there are presumably no AUB congregations in Vega$.

  7. Mark is such a horrible ass. "We aren't going to have any guests, so the dress is basically just...FOR HER." He said that with utter disgust written all over his face. Obviously SHE isn't worth $2300 to him, nor is her happiness of any importance. Vile.

  8. My DVR cut off the ending again! Did Tim not save Edmond?!? And WTF with the judges liking Ashley's C3P0 dress? Fuck, that was awful.

ETA: ok I see from other posts that we didn't see Tim at the end. Now I'm sure that next week's show will open with the TGS.

    Also forgot to say...Kelly FTW!

Ha! C3P0 dress! Maybe Ashley is working on a theme - could that have been an R2D2 cape last week?

  9. What was the "Until recently" comment that Christine said during the courtship conversation?  When Christine was angry with Kody's comments that a relationship isn't as good as it can be without a long courtship?  And Christine said something along the lines of "I always thought we had a good relationship... until recently" and then she said something else.  I know it wasn't "Go to Hell, Kody" but it sounded similar.

I'm pretty sure she said "Good hell, Kody!" Which I've been told is a "Utah swear." LOL

  10. Drink every time J'Chelle says "Mother-of-the-BRIDE!" It's always about her, isn't it?

Also, eyeroll at "Michelle is going with us to look at wedding venues, as our chaperone." A parent going along to help with the wedding plans is actually something normal families do just because they, you know, love each other. But it's always gotta be about "modesty" and "purity" for the Duggars!

Joseph looks EXACTLY like Jimbo. Poor kid.

What was up with the Lost Girl building a Soap Box Derpy car in her first communion dress, or whatever that heinous lace concoction was?

  11. Amen to that. I tuned in for 30 seconds and couldn't take any more.

Did Sobbin make any kind of announcement from last week's pseudo-cliffhanger?

As told by Tamron, Christine walked off the set due to her feelings of discomfort regarding her request that the other wives leave Kody and Sobbyn alone to answer baby questions. Supposedly Sobbyn followed her off and when she returned, insisted that none be asked. *eyeroll*

  12. Have you guys ever seen the illustrations in Gothard's big red book or other materials about ladies modest dresses? Michelle's MoB dress violates every Gothard ever about drawing the attention of the eye to that area.

I sheepishly admit to having searched for ATI/IBLP literature online but haven't had much success. If you have access to illustrations of the above I would love to see them. Giant-collared frumpers, I presume?

I also have to admit that while the modesty panel is just plain wrong, I think J'Chelle did wear that MOB dress better than Kelly Bates. In her pics it's pretty apparent that not only is she not endowed well enough to fill our the dress, but in addition to her (much more reasonable) modesty fabric, Kelly added some extra stitching to close the plunging V-neck a little higher, giving it a strange sideways-Y shape.

Imagining J'Chelle in that dress with nothing underneath (shudder) I think she and I are built about the same, which is why I try not to wear plunging surplice necklines myself. It's really not that hard to find 'normal' clothing with a crew neck, seriously! Yeesh!!

  13. My read is that FAMILY is their one and only area of interest and what is supposed to occupy all their time. As I've said before, I think this leads them to believe that they shouldn't be involved in much of anything outside the family, and also to the mistaken notion that they shouldn't have to work to support themselves because that would take them away from the FAMILY. Cause, you know, you can't possibly have a strong family unless you all spend every waking moment together all the time. *Eyeroll* But I think that's their perspective.

I totally read this post in Christine's voice. Fahhhh-mly! My fahhhh-mly!! *snort*

  14. Curious... Would you all watch a Newlywed show centered around this couple? I think I'd watch that over another season of 19 Kids.

Would I watch? Yes. Do I think such a show would be the best thing for Jill? HAIL to the NO. I feel like Jill's best chance for breaking free of the Big Duggar Circus is to get away from the TTH and away from filming as much as possible. It would be pretty much impossible for she and Derick to live a somewhat normal life, to get used to one another, and to possibly veer away from the extreme teachings of ATI/IBLP if they were on television. Too much pressure to uphold the family image, because let's face it, the only other way they could make a Jill & Dill: Newlyweds show that people would actually watch is if they took the "fish out of water" angle and did things like send them to a nude beach. Or a Jeans West.

Statistically, I'm thinking, at least ONE Duggar child is going to leave the religion they were born into. Does anyone know how often this happens among the Quiverfull/Gothard/Vision Forum types? With 19 kids, I feel like it's safe to say that some will ease up on the legalism and turn fundie lite, some will stay in the cult, and some will leave completely. And I'd like for those kids to have as much space to do that as possible, which I just don't think they could get if they had their own show, KWIM?

  15. May I just say that it has always baffled me that Christine (Chrystyne?) put all those superfluous and/or ill- placed y's in her daughters' names, yet she took an ACTUAL Y out of a perfectly good name for her only son (Payton) and turned it into alphabyt soup?!

  16. There are a few different versions of that kiss shot floating around. Based on the umbrella in the corner and the photog on the ground in this particular crop, I'm thinking they were posed this way on purpose, possibly to show off the bouquet in the shot or just make it look interesting.

  17. As far as I know, there is no proof that the houses are 3 year interest only, builder held. They probably are, but I think it is speculation based on the many things we do know or see of this family. It is likely true, but never verified.

As much as I dislike them I like them so much better than my 5 wives or the Darger guy with his trio. There's something about them that gets to you, and the kids are really great.

Does anybody know if Polygamy USA will be back? I miss old Arthur, and I was horrified by the creep with the 3 wives but looking for more who had the daughter who turned herself over to the elders to find her a mate. The dad/husband is a horror. Will they return?

Completely third hand info, but a friend of mine who follows Rose Marie on Facebook said that she posted that Polygamy USA would not be returning. :(

I agree with you about the Browns. There is just something that keeps me coming back. Mostly, for me, it's the kids; I can't wait for the scenes from one of the teasers that showed Logan and Aspyn living it up at UNLV. How such remarkable children came from this train wreck is quite a mystery.
