  1. not to detract from the sadness of Bernie's death , RIP, but I found this the other day . I think it is also on spotify if you don't use iTunes and some other player https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/shift-gets-real/id1466959792     or watch https://dimitrisnowden.com/shift-gets-real/

when I tried to go to their https://shiftgetsreal.com/ I got a  warning from my antivirus  "the certificate used to encrypt your connection to this website does not match the domain it was issued for. Attackers might try to steal sensitive information from you, such as passwords or credit cards."  which was weird so I didn't continue on to their site

I'd like to see the Winders again, and maybe the Alldredges, if they can find a legitimate candidate for sister wife and not these fake-ass wannabe-famous ones they've come up with so far. Definitely DO NOT want to see the McGees. Don't get me wrong, they were reality gold, but I've seen all the co-dependent dysfunction I need to see from them.

The Snowdens? Since I imagine they are the big draw here, I suppose it's inevitable that they will be back, if the show comes back. I guess I'm ok with that. They really need to loosen up a little though, especially Ashley. Sometimes the dialogue is so awkward - they don't seem like a couple that has been together forever. Dimitri was way more relaxed with his friends than he ever seems at home. Ashley never seems like she's having a good time.

It's probably getting to be about the time these shows rethink the format , you know the whole 'couch talks', endless invented 'celebrations'.. somehow the reality has gone out of it and many of these shows have become a little too slick - you know when the viewers are skeptical of whether the ppl are actors it's starting to feel fake. I know there are tons of ppl into this though because there is some dating site out there for sisterwives and there are tons of couples on there so they would have a lot of real people to choose from.  Oh and here's a gem  http://thebreadwinnerpodcast.libsyn.com/dimitri-snowden-episode-51-the-breadwinner-podcast-ft-tyler-harris

I don't know, this ontological architect thing sounds like so much BS anymore. I don't know if I believe this brother has a real job. They do give off the air of hustlers. Sure they might have been the most interesting of the bunch, but is that saying much?

  4. Anyone wondering if this is coming back? Even if everyone from the previous seasons bailed, there has to be other couples out there , or maybe they could add a polyIamory show with different relationship configurations, I don't know. Last season was such a cluster, certainly a hard act to follow. I don't know about you all but I'm still butthurt over the WTF happened Snowden debacle, and then we had the Jennifer thing with the other family, Brandy-gate with yet another family. All that was so soul-sucking I hardly remember the non-drama family. Hopefully, whatever follows will feel 'real' and not have the taint of 'well, someone who knew someone asked this person to be in the show' or that any couple/woman is doing it just for tv money.

Although, this coming from someone with your screen name also makes me laugh. I love this place...and I hate to admit, I was actually SAD about them breaking up, Vanessa leaving, and then I was sorta mad about all this 'I can't talk about it' BS.  I tried to dig up dirt but all I could find were random stuff like Ashley's 'real' or pre-D name was Adkins but I couldn't find much on them together, on zabasearch or otherwise. If this whole thing was made-up, or a great part of it, whether it be A&D or the kids were not even theirs or maybe there's more to their backstory that Vanessa didn't know... I realize this all means 'no life' but hey we all need an escape from real reality. As an aside, at least their dresses weren't as horrific as some of the Brown celebration dresses. Well, except for the shorts thing, that was just...kinda tacky.

I  feel gypped at the tell-all that they didn't 'tell all' they just played along and this NDA thing is really weird.  The rest of the tell all was decent. I know it's not the popular opinion but I'm not really feeling like what Brandy did was cool, I don't see how it was necessary. That said, it doesn't take away from Paige's flaws but I felt bad for her cause all that was just embarrassing.

They did bring the drama however, as did the Jennifer debacle. I was impressed with Sharis' articulateness re these kind of relationships, she could totally do you tube.  Oh yeah the other family,  the Winders, he looks better whatever they did to his hair and the beard, I'm glad the first wife got to speak up a little bit, I was always worried she was like not abused per se, but that something was wrong cause she was quiet a lot during the season. Her new hairdo is cute too.

I really liked Vanessa a lot, as well.  In fact, I liked her so much it kind of bugged the crap out of me to think she would settle for a "relationship" with the Snowdens.  I hate all of the collateral damage I'm sure the breakup caused to the kids/extended family, but it did kind of make me think there's hope for Vanessa, after all.  And her family definitely seems interesting... A mom who is a free thinker ( to use her own word); a blended, mixed race family; a twin sister who now lives in Australia; much older/younger half siblings, etc,   I agree that I would for sure tune in to learn more about all of them.  As far as Ashley and Dmitri go, on a scale of 1 to 10, my interest in ever seeing them again on my tv is somewhere around a -3.

I don't know, I kinda think Ash and ' Tha D'  would be great say in the next Jordan Peele flick (Get out, which I liked, 'Us', good technically but storyline blew).  Vanessa, instead of the "I'll do/be anything you want' nonsense, can be the mad max badass, and maybe can run up against some post-apocalyptic trolls (Jennifer?)  and maybe she can run for political office or at least be some kind of sisterwives union organizer where people have rights and no one has to give up food they like, no forced doo-rag/scarf thingee wearing and no mandatory hoo-hah steaming etc. Meanwhile Ash and Tha ever-be-vested D can stalk the woods (seattle? Twin Peaks?) in search of their next 'catch'....

  7.  I just discovered mama donna's twitter , lots of great awkward wedding photos and some funny facebook  sayings and random stuff https://www.instagram.com/mamadonnatlc/

ash has more than one twitter it appears https://www.instagram.com/ashleyksnowden/?utm_source=ig_embed    https://www.instagram.com/ashleytheadviseher/

vanessa  I think some presnowdenized  https://www.instagram.com/vanessacobbs/

I didn't bother looking up Dimitri, because one, I had already seen enough on theirs and two,  let's face it, on these shows usually the man is just not that interesting

  8.  Does anyone think Dimitri's mom 'throwing shade' on Ash is because of the woman who came before Ash and she sees Ash as the 'other woman' ? The whole 'I don't trust women' really means I don't trust YOU. And they aren't saying about baby mama #1 on the show but that is what all that was about.. I don't know , did she have kids when she met him or was the actual 1st wife (gf? whatever?) his baby mama?

  9. 39 minutes ago, Armchair Critic said:

Even if it was not about "getting it on" (which it is for Bernie) I question the judgment of a mother who brings her daughter along with her to stay at the home of people Brandi had not met in person. She should have met them and seen if it was going to work before involving them

Ok yeah I'll def give you that, all the kids for that matter. I guess because they are all under 18, they would have had to send them to grandma's or make other arrangements. But again yes getting the kids involved with someone one parent is into, the other is meh and seeing those kids cry was just awful.  They have probably had to deal with a shit ton of complicated stuff and a bunch of changes already. House burning down, RV, moving, parents getting arrested. They certainly don't need to be emotionally invested/divested on top of all this other stuff. I guess I never bothered or couldn't pick up the Bernster's agenda of what he is in it for. Like I said, he just reminds me of a LOTR dwarf, only ,much bigger. Kinda like a garden gnome.

,,,,.  Seemed he only married those two to get into the celestial kingdom.

I believe Dimitri has led Ashley to believe she is in charge, but in reality she is not.  Ashley acts as though she's all in 100%, but once in a while her mask slips and her real feelings show. Her face fell when Dimitri told her he was in love with Vanessa.  Her insecurities wouldn't allow her to let Vanessa have her "Big" day; she had to have a "vow renewal".  A reminder that she is number one. The only reason Dimitri finally introduced her to his parents after nine years, was because he wanted them to meet Vanessa and he couldn't get around it without also introducing her.....

I heard or read somewhere 3 is the minimum to get into planet Mormon afterlife and then 7 is some other level after that... Maybe someone here knows. I don't know how all the Brady wives got 'picked' , I know the one you claim his favorite was originally one he asked to marry him before even wife #1 but she ended up doing her own thing and then 10 yrs later came back. I didn't get the feeling every wife was buddy-buddy with every other wife. That said, it must be difficult sharing your primary relationship AND having to deal with these other people AND a bazillion kids.

I still don't know what to think about Ash as far as if her heart is secretly breaking or she is actually 'IDGAF' but needs to appear she is sort of wrestling with it and being ultra generous to Dimitri when actually she sees it like, no one is legally married anyway, we all get tv money and exposure to build a brand , and legal marriage or not, Dimitri would have to pay support for those kids ,and whatever kids he has with Vanessa- so if the number of kids gets high enough, it doesn't pay for Dimitri to bail out of there.  Sure Ash repeated the line I have heard the other plygs say about 'if anything happens to me, my kids are good because of her..' Def have to watch parts I FF'd through to watch the one relative interrogating Ash, which I thought was weird, because wouldn't she be more after Dimtri?

Brandi is frankly below average but Bernie was acting like she was hot stuff so it had to make her feel good. I give a side eye to a woman with a teen daughter who jumps into this with both feet.

I'm not sure I do give a side eye to that because it might not always be about making more kids, and getting it on. Those two were a particularly bad match as Brandi seemed like she's the talk everything out right away and very reactive and Paige seems more like the 'learn-as-you-go' type,, among other reasons. Sure, Paige is a lot to deal with but I would bet there are way worse- who maybe play sweet to your face but then plot behind your back- at least you know what you're dealing with, with Paige.

The idea for more than one might also not be rooted in religion or  children but maybe even practical reasons: one more person helping out with whatever, childcare, working outside the home,  cooking - there's lots of things besides sex and God needed to keep the lights on- in some of these situations it may be practical though they might never admit it. Meanwhile I did a google search to see the Bernster's new hair and only got the mugshot photo and can't tell because the light is bad as far as the new hair. Maybe someone has a shot of this and will post it.

Wow, they don't really censor themselves on that, and they aren't prudish. I was actually surprised to hear some things that Vanessa said that I don't really want to repeat here.  It wasn't like it was politically incorrect, it was more like eww.  I did a quick FF through the wedding stuff so I have to watch it again. The outfits, Vanessa in particular struck me as kind of 1980's Stevie Nicksish…. except the shorts.

That was my favorite Polyg show, they really showed the jealousy of the wives. I felt it was more honest. The wife who was a little heavier was worried about Brady being attracted to her and how they argued over the nights they got to spend with him. Brady seemed pretty decent and he actually had a real job.

I cant remember if they got 2 seasons or just the one but yes they seemed less slick and that was what I liked about them. I don't remember if the jealously was any worse than what we have seen on other shows. I picked up more like who was friends or supportive with who and who walks on eggshells and just quirky weird stuff.  Brady didn't strike me as either playing the 'look at me me the fun guy!' or macho posturing. It wasn't on long enough to get a real feeling about their separate personalities. I think they occasionally youtube but it would be awesome if they came back.

Is it wrong that I laughed hard all through the fake ceremony? I almost died when the sound healer...or whatever she was..,started with her caterwauling. I am shocked that family members kept a straight face. What was with the feet washing? Is Demitri Jesus? Tribal goddess parties...bindis ....appropriating cultures and traditions all over the place. Dimitri screaming "this is my day." Like a bridezilla from hell, I thought it was "their" day. I am dead.

I've been holding off on watching this, and the more I read from you all, the more I have to see it (never worry about 'spoiling' stuff for me.  I keep thinking of that foreign film 'raise the red lantern' where there's 4 wives (but it's in historical Chjna and it's more like an empire), but even that was more like the kodster and  crew than 'AVD'  (Ash, Dimitri, Vanessa).  I'm not sure there is anything at least 'western' as far as precedence goes that isn't straight up 60's or 70's hippie commune deal that even approaches this group. All these add ons everyone keeps posting like foot-washing, and of course the obligatory bindi, the Erica Badu headwraps which I don't know is some cultural thing or a fashion thing, there's the Dimitri always-in-a-vest thing,  the weird alkaline cooch diet... oh I almost forgot to tell you about this podcast they have, apparently they have altered the name to 'saving sister wife' or something probably copyright issues https://www.listennotes.com/da/podcasts/saving-sister-wife-reviews-hosted-by-the-nM2LjDvbZyX/    It's pretty darn weird and no doubt ppl here will have something to say about it, I just want to see what people say about the three episodes on there.

I was dreading watching this as I have never liked the  Snowdens (well, Dmitri in particular) . But I have to say that I thought the wedding was beautiful.  I loved Ashley' dress, her hat and Vanessa's dress not so much. And unless they're all good actors, they seem happy and committed to each other. I guess time will tell how this plays out, but the two women seem to really like each other, as opposed  to the Brown clan with their separate houses and constant jealousies and vying for position.

The three of them seem much more evolved than the other plygs on this show and sister wives. They've going into it willingly rather than because of religious pressures.

I don't even take into account whether or not I 'like' them, they are entertaining. I do like Ashley's 'don't give a shit' laid-backness. Sometimes I wonder, is she actually that chill or is she on the medical pot? Is it possible for anyone in this kind of lifestyle to be so 'totes whatevs'  as Ash? That is what makes me feel like she is over birthing/banging the guy and has started to look at it like a job position she gets Vanessa to fill. Aside from tv money, I mean how much does a .. what the hell was it Dimitri does "design experiences"? Ontological architect? Is that even a real thing or is that like a made-up thing and he actually doesn't have a real job? I'm going to watch this tonight and never mind getting spoilers, it just gives me more to look forward to. Can't wait to see TSHTF at their shin-dig , all the relatives drama and the kooky clothes. I guess I've gotten used to the usual kind of plygs and this is just something totally different, which adds its own novelty I suppose. I do miss Brady and bunch, don't know why they got cancelled or whatever.

Ugh, this poor little boy crying over this woman leaving is just maddening.  It’s a shame when children are victims of their parents’ shitty decisions.  It would be easy not to blame Brandy for Paige’s venom, but I absolutely blame her, too.  She also has a kid and she should know better than this.

I just saw that episode. So much general disturbance. I don't hate any of them but I do think when it was clear Paige was kind of 'tolerating' me. I would have backed off on the questioning and pushing and doubled down on the go with the flow. I would bet anything when Brandy was there before, there might have been fewer parental fights because people don't like to air their dirty laundry, so the kids equated having a sister wife as bringing more peace.  In this case I just think they were ill-matched from the gate. Brandy didn't get it when Paige was trying to make a point about 'why would I have you in my house, around my kids.... that would be dumb' and Brandy took it the wrong way. Which is not to say Paige can't be obnoxious but I think she's the type who comes off like a bully when really she is nervous herself and Brandy hammering on the questions wasn't helping matters. It also seems like because they were so so awkward, that they haven't been on the phone talking about day to day stuff. When you aren't on super comfortable terms with someone, maybe you don't poke the bear and then expect it isn't going to chase you. The husband I'm thinking is an extra from LOTR.

  20. Kody is in deep youknowwhat.. he's been hiding a possible Secret 5th wife, who is a somewhat disaffected, generation X pseudo-goth who never acts like a high-school girl around Kody. She's been sort of couch-surfing since they started 'courting' though Kody is starting to feel like he's never going to get anywhere.  It's up for grabs whether some of the other wives even notice or care. The way it is playing out is the antithesis of the last courtship.  Worse yet, Kody fears that at least some of the wives like her more than they like him. . No, get your salacious little minds out of the gutter- remember, they don't go 'weird' (lol).

Kody to potential wife #5, who is lounging on A futon in Janelle's garage, it's about 9 or 10 at night:

" Daphne, I was thinkin' ..I wanna do this right this time. We need to get to know each other better. Tomorrow morning, why don't we go for a walk or go to that clay class , we could make something?"

Daphne: " Uhhh mornings. What about later tonight?"

Kody: "but I can't, it's Robin's night, then I won't be able to see you until Monday night.."

Daphne: "That's fine, Monday it is then. Scrabble?"

Kody laughs thinking she was kidding about playing a board game : "Daphne, you can't just lie around these old moldy books and hide in here all the time. When are you going to be part of things?"

Daphne: "what you really mean is agree to TV, don't you?"

Kody: "Well, that's part of it, I guess..and it would really help.."

(sounds of someone walking around the house.)

Janelle calls out "Daphne, are you down there? I just got some salads, are we still on for no-popcorn movie night?"

Daphne, calls out to Janelle: " Yeah we totally are Janelle, I'll be up in a minute, Kody's here."

Janelle: (calling back out from wherever) "Oh , sorry, I didn't know."

Daphne: "no worries Janelle, come on down,  he was just leaving.."

Kody: " What? No, I wasn't, I thought we were going to talk or ...something." His phone is buzzing.

Daphne: "someone is texting you. Maybe you should answer it. "

    Kody looks at his phone.

Kody: " ugh why doesn't she just text you? It's Christine, she was asking if I knew where you were and if you felt like going thrift store shopping with her tomorrow.. did you lose your phone?"

Daphne: "No, I didn't lose it. It's turned off. Maybe the battery died, it's been off for a while. "

Kody : " see, this is an example of what I was talking about. You can't just avoid the family meeting where we tell everyone. You can't just avoid the cameras. You can't just hang out in my Janelle's garage and not really live anywhere here and never go out during the day, you can't......."

Daphne: " Why not? She doesn't care...and you knew I didn't like the hot weather before I moved out here."

Janelle comes down the stairs to Daphne's makeshift garage room.

Janelle: "Kody, Robin just texted me asking me where you were. You're going to have to tell her at some point."

Kody: "Um I don't know if she's ready yet. "

Daphne: "isn't she the one who says 'amazing' and 'done' and 'chill ' and stuff like that?"

Kody: " yeah ... I mean she talks that way because... because..."

Janelle "Oh Robin already knows, I think."

Kody, looks at Janelle, aghast, then looks at Daphne who is picking the pilling off her black sweater. " What?! Who told her? You? " he asks , looking at Janelle.

Janelle: " As if, Kody. I think she went over to Christine's , you know, their fake-buddy thing they have going and saw Daphne on her couch the other day. So I think maybe she might know. "
Kody: "she knows or she might know? Those are two different things."
Janelle" "Kody I don't know. Hey can we just have our salads and watch our movie now?"

Kody: "but Janelle, I have to go over there tonight ..Did Christine tell her anything?." he asks, looking at both of them.

Daphne: "I doubt it, but I don't know, I was asleep. Maybe she wasn't even there that long."

Kody: " maybe I can have Meri talk to her..no wait, I just remembered she's not even around until Sunday because of her lula stuff. but what do I tell Robin? "

Janelle: " I don't know, look Kody , this is sooo not my problem .."

Daphne: "have to go over there?"  Daphne says, echoing his words in both a sarcastic and accusatory way. (Janelle snickers)

Kody: "Ok that sounded bad, I didn't mean.... But, what am I going to say if she asks something.?  Now I'm really screwed. If she doesn't know I'm screwed and if she already knows I'm screwed for not saying anything until now, especially if you and Christine and well, even Meri know. But I guess it is up to me what I do, so I'm only partially screwed. I mean, I still am the leader, right? I don't have to get approval. Oh God, she probably has figured it out by now..."

Janelle sighs and says "Umm Yeah Kody, you actually do have to get approval, remember? But..Daphne can stay over here with me, it isn't like Robin is going to come over here to hang out anyway.."

Daphne:  "She isn't going to care that much. It's not like you're throwing me around on a beach or giving me string rings or saying I'm too cute to cook and crap like that.."

Kody: "Oh yes she will care and as far as all that goes, it's sure not like that now.. great now I have to go get dressed up and try to have a real date....."

Janelle: "Ok good luck with that. See ya whenever.."

    Daphne: "yeah see ya Monday.."

Bingo baby. Utah and Arizona already have said they won't prosecute for polygamy unless the other abuses detailed in The Primer are there, and even then they haven't prosecuted in the last 15 years. Even when plygs exploit the system and abuse their own people, the states just won't do anything. The Browns and the Dargers really have a lot of gall marching and protesting when they have been able to live their lives in peace and get away with Bleeding the Beast (in the case of the Browns).

That said, they aren't the only groups with lots of babymommas and/or a ridiculous amount of kids that take handouts as well as protest, fraud of various sorts or not.  They're just more famous.

Decriminalizing polygamy won't create the tax/inheritance/insurance problems. All decriminalizing does is take away the laws on the books in Utah that allow LE to arrest and prosecute for polygamy. In order for there to be the other problems, there would have to be new laws put in place that make bigamy (marriage to multiple partners at one time) a legally binding act. The laws would be similar to the laws that were put in place saying marriage between two men and two women were legally binding. This is why the lawyer Turley has been involved. He is an attorney for the LGBTQ/Alt Lifestyle community. But yes, if the laws were changed to allow legal bigamy, it would create a nightmare on the financial side of marriage/divorce that businesses would not be able to adjust to.

And it has something to do with the whole welfare thing as well. I believe it it were legalized and regulated, they would then go after the dads or do dna testing or something in order that people couldn't just write 'father unknown' so as to avoid paying back welfare or even with proving underage abuse, etc.  The reason they only want decriminalization is way beyond insurance and lawyers, it's about not getting in trouble in other ways and still being able to exploit the sytem.

I always try to keep up-to-date each season, but the florals look awful even on the models--unless they're demonstrating camoflage in a flower garden. Saying NO to florals in 2017.

Ahh you brought back the horror of laura ashley in that time period, out west it was all about pastel florals. It was like church on easter, puffy sleeves and shoulder pads combined with maybe a mid-level 80's hotel wallpaper/sofas. I couldn't pull off this look at all. Too short, too top heavy. Someone might have mistaken me for a reading chair at a retirement place and sat on me. What was even worse is when they tried for a Georgia O'Keefe southwest theme with patterns and colors. Ugh.

Just commented on the knots before I read your post! Seriously, it's enough already with the knots. Stop trying to make knots happen again, they were over in '89

Seriously Jeniffer Beal in 'flashdance'. It should have ended there. Since when did anyone see that movie and think 'omg this is perfect for moms in Utah! Let's do this!'
