"What if Willy Wonka benefitted from apartheid?"
I wouldn't be surprised. Just look at how he enslaved those Oompa Loompas (who were Africans in the original novel BTW).

Speaking of Evie, does anyone have any insider info? When she's been on before, he rarely mentioned her last name, but when he did, as far as I can remember, she was "Evie McGee". Last night, he referred to her as "Evie Colbert". Wikipedia, helpfully, had her listed in one place as "Evelyn McGee" and another place as "Evelyn "Evie" McGee-Colbert". Not that it's unusual for women to use different names socially and professionally, just seemed odd that he wasn't consistent.
They've brought it up on the show before. Sometimes she's Evie McGee, sometimes she's Evelyn Colbert.

Liberals also apparently believe in unicorns and Martians. Looking back, I’m wondering why John didn’t say that would be a selling point to become a liberal. Unicorns! And Martians!!
Oh they're real, they just stay hidden from Republicans. All that "voter fraud" they couldn't prove? Martian unicorns.

I'm not sure what was so scary about the sandbox part unless we're supposed to believe the little boy was holding the woman hostage. He's not white and she is so maybe?
It was hard to see but I think there were syringes raining down behind them.

Meanwhile my takeaway from last night's episode is that the Ukrainian for "of course" kind of sounds like "vagina" (apparently it's "zvyčájno").

The LotR rap had me cracking up.

Now I feel guilty for not letting Mario take a bathroom break. Maybe he goes when he's swimming in the water worlds?
Or maybe that's what all the pipes are for...

Food snobbery the week after homelessness...
What we have found in this forum, and maybe we're more aware of it now, is one problem that we've had, even in the best of times, and that is the people who are making Tuna Surprise, the casserole-eaters who are eating casseroles, you might say, by choice.

Someone from Fox News praising and defending Christopher Columbus? I'm shocked. Just shocked. And he dressed up like him for Halloween because OF COURSE HE DID. God.
It's a holiday where you turn up at people's homes and threaten them into giving you free stuff. Columbus was the ultimate trick-or-treater.

Sinema and Manchin are so frustrating, esp Sinema. She's out of her depth and doesn't know what she wants. I guess I could google, but on what platform did she run?
Are you trying to elicit one of her dad-joke answers?

Well... at least he supports women having autonomy for one part of the process. That's more than you can say for certain other lawmakers.

BTW - how did Gina lose her front teeth? Anyone remember?
It was at Jenn Sutton's birthday party in fourth grade. A bowling ball fell on her face.

In Mexico, abortion was recently decriminalized by its Supreme Court... In 2019, approx 60K abortions were performed in Texas. Hopefully, those Mexican clinics have the capacity to handle U.S. demand...
Mexico might have to pay for the border wall after all.

Is there a reason they kept mentioning Nancy Meyers? This wasn't the rom-com episode, the second one was.
Because Rosa loves her work - it's her thing. Jake has Die Hard, Rosa has Nancy Meyers, Terry has hedges.

In the first episode it bothered me that Charles would act like his family isn’t really his family if they aren’t related by blood. He has an adopted son! I kept waiting for him to realize of course he’s still a Boyle, just like Nikolaj is a Boyle. But instead they went with the Excalibur bread starter.
7 hours ago, Ohiopirate02 said:They set up the Excalibur bread starter too neatly. As soon as we found out Charles was not biologically a Boyle, I knew he was going to be the One True Boyle who could open the jar.
A better ending would be if Nikolaj was the one to open it, making him the One True Boyle.
Another option: Gina shows up at the last minute and opens the jar without knowing what it means.

Rosa who has always kept her wits about her has already been stoned and drunk and out of her wits in this young season. Seems out of character to me.
She had her Sister Act experience taken away from her, you monster.

John accentuates the negative because that's what he's paid to do (and also because he's from England). Even if he is unfair to Biden, that's not the same as saying he's as bad as or worse than Trump or even Bush. When John goes after Trump, it's because he's a never-ending nightmare black hole of suck. When John goes after Biden, it's because he's the guy with the power to actually do something.

As for the pen, I bet Jake rationalized it as just a pen, what Doug did with it was his business.
By that logic, he could have given Judy a handcuff key, $50,000 cash and a plane ticket. No one's forcing him to use them to subvert the law.

LSSC: Season Eight Episode Talk
in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Rachel Weisz was actually right:
9 Episodes + 2 A Star Wars Story spin-offs + 1 The Clone Wars movie = 12 Star Wars movies.
