IMDb describes the show as a dramedy.

The Emmy award nominations are for comedy.

    Which classification is more important?

My point was it hasn’t been funny. So even as a dramedy, it doesn’t have comedy.

I’m trying to think of anything comic this season. It’s all been bitter and childish.

Gilmore Girls' very own Max Medina ... Maaaaaax Medina. The character did mention a wife though.

Between him and Chris Eigeman (aka Digger Styles) as Abe's newspaper editor,  I wonder why (and am glad that) out of all the guys on GG the Palladinos never hire David Sutcliffe for any of their other shows.

Even Joel's parents are somewhat likeable this season. His father stopping by the club to talk about the mysterious Rachell (aka Mei) was actually quite sweet.

I don’t like the ridiculous story of Joel’s mother constantly fixing him up and he’s avoiding her. Another lie going in Joel’s dishonest life. I know he wants to introduce Mei to his parents and she refuses.  Why didn’t he sit down and tell his Dad the truth?

I do agree that his father is sweet. Joel’s father is an underrated character. He is loud, demanding, but he is the only responsible adult in the show.

  3. I’m curious as to how people are viewing the show after these 6 episodes?

So much of the behavior from every character has been childish and ugly.

I hated that stupid fight at the end of the episode. Miriam can never learn to act in her own best interest and I find it exhausting, not entertaining.

Right now, Mei and most of Rose are the only likable characters. (Maybe some of Joel’s father too.)  The rest are angry and bitter.

I feel they’ve forgotten that the show is a comedy because very little of it is funny in my view. Mostly completely nonsensical and angry, bitter and shrill.

  4. Maybe Ava learned a lesson but I’m not too sure. She still seems too self-involved and immature.

Gone are the days I guess of the girls struggling to pay rent and get extra classes like Jasmine.

  5. Sorry this is the wink link:

I corrected it in the post as well

there is also this one too:

Thought you guys might like it if it hasn’t been posted before. YouTube started throwing up a lot of old DCC links. These two are from the same channel

so is this one with short lived 1990s uniform

This has  8 minutes of video from the 1990s. Has a wavy kick line and no jumpsplit. Different channel.

edit to add: here’s a video from the farewell to Texas stadium performance if you wanted to compare to the 60 year celebration

please let me know if these aren’t interesting. I am just sharing what has popped up but I don’t want to clog the forum.

  6. I understand being bitter about last year. Still Brennan knew she wasn’t physically ready after having COVID. She should have taken the year they offered - but she’s not as good as many of the rookies, so maybe she would have just been delaying her cut.

Hannah is the only “wrongly” cut veteran who could compete with the dancers on this team this year.

I'm so impressed with these girls. I think the video auditions plus learning the dances from video are massive improvements to their process. So is helping the girls find an alumni to stay with fora while when they are young and new

I can't blame Alora Rose for doing it the way she did.  That's how you do it when you are trying to find another job...you wait until something better comes up and then jump ship.  But in the meantime you stay with the sure thing.  Alora Rose just stupidly thought she could keep it under wraps and Kelli wouldn't find out.

Kelli's just pissed because AR was choosing The Rockettes over the DCC.  If AR told Kelli in advance she was trying out, Kelli would have immediately dropped her from the team.

That makes sense. I didn’t know how it would work out with timing. It sounds like she would have left the team after the Cowboys season started?

  8. Not sure about this episode. It’s so hard to cut someone at the very, very end. I know they do it for the show, but it’s so tough on the girls.

I didn’t seeI any bad photos this year. No one really struggled as we have seen other years.

Do people think that Alora Rose would have tried out and if she didn’t make it she would go back to Dallas? I’m not sure how the timing would work with it.

The Rockettes are a much better dance job than the Cowboys Cheerleaders. So she made the right choice.

Do you mean Breelan?  Brennan was a few years/seasons after Morgan, Breelan, Kat, Caila and a few others.

Thanks for the reply. You are right. I meant Breelan.

I think all these dancers are better than Brennan also - to be fair- but I don’t remember Brennan having many memory mistakes as much as style problems.

  10. 1. These were the least exciting makeovers I’ve seen in watching almost be very season. Why was it so bland?

    2. what exactly do they mean when they say someone “fades?” I understand blending but not exactly what “fading”means.  Losing energy maybe?

    3. So happy for Gina. I never liked Maddy. I’m still so happy about the quality of the dancers this season. No one like the forgettable  year of Morgan and Breelan and that “Barbie girl” blonde - I don’t remember her name- maybe Kat?

I know there was one a few seasons ago, because at the time, Paul said he’d never given one for a showstopper before. I don’t recall who it was for, though.

Was it the bread lion? I’ll never forget that one.

  12. I liked seeing so much dancing. These dancers must be  by far the most talented group .

I’m not sure which 5 I’m not picking to make the team. I don’t like Ava and Ashley was obvious. I still prefer Kelee over some blender blondes.

very happy for Jalyn. Ambivalent about Kat.

also  the girls did great with interviews. They seem more polished than the other years.

  13. She was in Vivians first season I believe.

Also I don’t mind keeping girls for show group auditions and makeovers.

  14. I think this might be my favorite season. I feel that the talent of these girls is so high. Most of them, with the exception of Ava, seem mature and capable even when getting cut. The difference of the quality of the rookies was apparent doing the across the field - compared to the struggles of previous years.

i feel with the obvious exception of Hannah the vets cut last year would have struggled. Someone like Brennan is just not on their level.

  15. I liked this entire episode. I like seeing them dance on the field and I hope that continues.

I liked Travis’ routine because it challenges them in a different style. The best part is there was no story of a girl hiding because that’s not their style - like back in the old days with Breelen or Ashley Pro.

Ive never been a big fan of Maddie. But I can see how she is the perfect company girl. I’m glad she retired. I am glad too that she encouraged the girls who are getting cut.

I thought it was fine to ask about Ava’s behavior. He has seen her dance. I doubt that question would influence his opinion on her dancing.

It may actually be true this year that it’s the best class ever. We don’t see the group of strugglers like we used to see.

  16. I’m not sure what Ava was dancing to, but Kelli saying she wouldn’t have brought her into training camp means it must have been shocking. If Ava wasn’t one of the strongest dancers, I believe she would have been cut. Both times she’s been in the office, it’s been some of the most serious conversations that I’ve seen Kelli have with any girl in all the seasons.  At least it seems like that too me.

  17. I think Ava feels she’s a strong enough dancer that the rest of it doesn’t matter. She’s immature. I didn’t like her from the beginning when she asked if best solo was good.

I like that they are out in the field and not in the rehearsal studio with mirrors. Dancers can’t get into that habit of following everyone else in the mirror. I like seeing the dances in the field too.

Does anyone  else have the sense they are taking a different type of approach to these girls mental health this year? They seem to not be wanting to break anyone’s spirit which is an improvement! I appreciate them cutting girls who aren’t improving, though once Kelley found out about the back injury in uniform fittings, I knew Cailey was gone. She doesn’t need a girl with a chronic back problem on the team.  It’s better for Cailey too, she doesn’t need to spend a season in pain and struggling.

  18. Who thinks it’s a good idea to pretend to be talking on the phone while in a performance? I think more of these girls are making stupid choices to get tv time.

I like the choreographer and his dance. He made every single one of the girls look bad in comparison.

  19. Does anyone think the rookies last season came in knowing the dances better than these rookies? Maybe because there are more rookies this season it stands out more?
one of the groups was a complete mess on the DCC routines.
