Primogeniture is really strict that way. An adopted child does not inherit. A child born before the parents' marriage does not inherit, even if the parents do later marry (which legitimizes the child in other legal contexts).

    Good old fashioned sexism really.

At the same time the rules of succession for the monarch were changed, there was a bill in Parliament to change the male primogeniture law for peerages, but it didn't make it out of committee, and no further action has been taken.

There have been some interesting articles about what would happen if the first born was a transgender person. How would that affect inheritance?

Transgender doesn't change primogeniture. A male-born person entitled to inherit retains their entitltement regardless of whether they later transition to being a woman. Likewise, if the oldest child is born female and has younger brothers, she still does not gain inheritance rights by transitioning to male.

  3. This whole thing with Jesse makes no sense. When she arrives at his apartment for the first time and he'd  pulled out all the stops, he had TWO bottles of sparkling wine in the chiller. TWO for just two people. That is a lot of wine to expect two people to drink if you're afraid of alcoholics.

  4. I cringed at the non-binary storyline. Like someone else said it was incredibly gender essentialist in my opinion. It was also not fleshed out enough so as not to basically send the message to girls watching that hating your breasts and not wanting to shave mean you aren't fully a girl. What is a 'girl'? What does it mean to feel/not 'feel' like one? I do understand it's nuanced for those people going through it, but glossing over it this way could be damaging in my opinion. It's also very important not to glorify binders. They can be incredibly damaging to the breasts and overall health. It is not a decision to be taken lightly to start wearing one.

  5. Chelsea is handling the baby issue with Aubree perfectly. She was excited about the sonogram picture and showed it to Aubree. But it wasn't ALL ABOUT THE BABY. Because she then switched to showing Aubree pics of her own sonograms and baby pictures. To me, it showed that Chelsea was sharing her excitement with Aubree, but without making her feel left out or a second priority.

  6. Haven't read the whole thread yet, but just starting to re-watch season 6. How is it possible that Rory is already so averse to work? 300 hours of community service over 6 months is about 11hrs/week. Hardly a 'full time job in itself'.

  7. I didn't have a problem with Rory not knowing Paris would be her roommate. My university didn't send out any roommate information in advance. I knew I'd have one, but that was it.

  8. Rewatching and I realize how terrible a public speaker Rory really is. Why do they keep shoving it down our throat that she's this amazing winner of the C-SPAN/debate/Vice President/Valedictorian? She literally stands and stares at her page, reading completely monotone.

  9. Looks like Mitchum was right about Rory all along...she doesn't have "it". Maybe if people hadn't been so obsessed with shooting rainbows up her ass, someone might have said "well, honey, he is an expert. Not saying you have to believe him, but you could take his opinion seriously and consider whether journalism is for you." Instead of "But you're RORY! Mitchum, media mogul knows nothing about who is good at journalism or not."

  10. Ugh sorry if it's been said before (just watching the episode and haven't read the thread yet). But ARGH Drew saying "Taylor, you're the head of a big family now". WTF?! The man is assumed to be the 'head' of the family??

  11. I was once the girl buying all those magazines and now I'm on the cover and in magazines and am the star of every occasion.

I once strived to be the best in reality television and now I'm the top reality star and top 10 listed female celebrity in the nation.

Where are the reality star rankings? What is a listed female celebrity? Where is the top 10 list available?

I once went to college to further my culinary skills and get degrees to have almost been failed, kicked out and cussed at by superintendent ,teachers, chefs & colleges who ruined my passion to open a restaurant . To now opening a successful quick serve concept that Is being franchised world wide that spreads passion and positivity in the food workforce with more concepts on the way.

Ruined her passion, possibly because she was crap at cooking. Capitalising verbs!

I once was a Teen Mom kicked out of my home, struggling, depressed & today now I'm the Teen Mom whose known for decreasing teen pregnancies world wide, who publicly speaks with national campaigns, has a successful national show that has made history and fame, that owns many properties in the u.s , opening multiple business's and is now the mom others are proud of and want business advice from and now can offer a different up bringing to her child with no struggle.

When was she kicked out of her home? In an alternative reality? She needs to remember we SAW ALL OF IT. Also, apostrophes.

  12. I'm in the process of rewatching Teen Mom 2 from season 1. I'm about midway through season 5 and the most annoying girl of all (including Jenelle), is Kailyn. Her attitude, right from the start, is just appalling. She is SO entitled. Even from early on when that homelessness charity gives her money to get her own apartment and she's crowing to anyone who'll listen about how she's on her own and doing everything by herself. Not throwing shade at people who need and get help, but she was just so bitchy about it and ungrateful. Like she was entitled to it. And then later in the discussion about her moving, I actually agree with her. But her attitude makes me wish Jo had won! 'Oh, well if he doesn't let me move then both my kids will be without their dad.' Yeah, and whose fault is that?? Why should Jo have to be away from his kid so that Javi can play house with yours?? She is just incapable of showing empathy or even understanding of anyone's position other than her own. Argh.

Cayelynn looks sad in that photo. She looks as if she wants to follow the sun just to get away from Tyler.

Stupid Tyler. The sun is not saying goodbye to Earth. The sun will shine elsewhere as we experience night time.

Tyler has probably never travelled outside of his time zone. Sunsets are beyond him.

DaBronx, I have a feeling we would be best friends in real life.  I went on a "chore stike" once when I was first married to prove how unequal our chores were.

I tried doing that, but I couldn't stand the mess for the several days it took before I gave in...Had a little breakdown over the weekend when I realized I had spent my day cooking, doing dishes, cleaning, cooking, and doing dishes while the OH did various leisure activities that interest him.
