    I sure wish Jill and Derick were gazing towards Israel-  

    If looks like they are watching TV!

    (if it was cropped no one would even know Israel is in the photo)

    They're not looking at him because they are recording a congratulatory message to Bin and Jessa on the announcement of the pregnancy.  I just saw the vid on the Dillard family blog.  (No, I don't check their blog.  My FB feed told me the Duggars had a new post - the link was to the Dillard's blog.)

     So now I really don't know what to think!

    If you were a Duggar, you'd pray about it.  During fellowship with others, you might even pray with others about it.  You would NOT consult a medical professional.  That's for secular people who have no G-d to turn to.

    Why they chose the name Israel:

     

    "Before finding out Baby Dilly's gender, Jill and Derick Dillard had two possible names picked out: Israel, which means "God will prevail," and Selah, which means "pause and reflect." When they found out they were expecting a boy, they settled on Israel. What is significant about that name?

     

    "Back in September 2011, Jill and her family traveled to Israel as part of their World Tour. It was the trip of a lifetime for the Duggars because it made the Bible come to life.

     

    "More than two years later and a few months after Jill and Derick began their courtship, Derick stopped in Israel on his way home from Nepal. Knowing how much Jill had enjoyed her trip to Israel, he purchased her engagement ring there."

    It's sweet 16 for Jeremiah and Jedidiah today.  The Duggars posted that "It will be neat to see what God does with these two young men's lives as they work together to impact the world for Christ!"  What G-d does with their lives?  How about what they do with their lives?  Oh, right, no free will in this family.

    Totally agree the mods are a 1000x better on this site.

     

    Since the mission trip has been brought up on the Dill thread, I have a curious question: Who funds these trips? Is it TLC or do the Duggars pay out of pocket? The reason I ask is because it seems an incredible waste of money for fifteen Duggars to go to El Salvador just to hand out candy and soccer balls. I don't know how much tickets to Central America cost, but let's say $500. Multiply that by 10-15 people and that's $5,000-7,500. Wouldn't it be better just to donate directly to the organization? That money would go a long way down there and could even provide locals with jobs. Or am I making too much sense?

    As you suspected, you're making far too much sense.

     

    If the Duggars donated, there wouldn't be any photo ops.  And what's the point of giving if you can't prove it with a pic???
