  1. I found parts of this episode particularly disturbing, specifically regarding the two Da(n)nielles.  Watching double-n Dannielle's charade that she's an enthusiastic participant in this pretense is like watching someone kiss the hand of her abuser.  It's sick.

Single-n Danielle is of even more concern.  I think it was in the previews where the Nick cohort is in a hot tub with the newest victim, and Danielle looks so upset, trying so hard to stifle her feelings.  I truly believe this girl needs an intervention.  Isn't there someone in her life who sees what's going on?  She's very young and very inexperienced, and the Nicks know it, and are completely taking advantage of it. I feel that it needs to be stopped by someone, and if nobody else comes to her rescue, then the producers.  She may be of legal age, but she clearly lacks the maturity and confidence to advocate for herself.

  2. I ask this in all seriousness: does anyone think that Gar-yuck and Danielle are putting us on?  Maybe playing along with the polygamist ruse just to get on a TV show?  I hope so, for Danielle's sake.  If not, could her self esteem really be that low?  Could she really be that stupid?  When Gar-yuck was spewing that self-serving nonsense about the true nature of the Holy Spirit, her facial expressions ran the gamut, none of them indicating affirmation of anything he blathered.

I couldn't help but notice that Gar-yuck is working on a spare tire around his waistline.  Maybe all that pent-up Holy Spirit is giving him bloat.

  3. Coming on to confess that I listened to the entire podcast and was shocked by the level of Zach's apparent introspection, intelligence, awareness and restraint,  and his ability to communicate effectively.  Prior to listening to this I had a very different opinion of him and his maturity.  I was surprised and impressed.  With a little help with his  elocution (either he has difficulty pronouncing certain sounds or he doesn't realize he's mispronouncing them), I believe he could parlay his podcasting career to reach beyond the LPBW fan sphere.  Tori did well, too, primarily in the role of interviewer, but she frequently interrupted him.  Tori, allow the man to finish his sentences.  He was doing just fine without your interference.

In answer to the poster who asked for the Readers Digest abridged version of the interview, they've chosen not to involve their children further in consideration of the kids' lack of agency in making decisions about participation in filming, and due to  their  desire as a couple to move on to a new, more independent chapter in their lives, additionally saying that they feel that some distance will be beneficial to intra-familial relations.

I didn't perceive any recrimination or bitterness at all, in fact, Zach acknowledged how being on the show enriched his growing up years and provided him with opportunities he would have otherwise never had.

  4. Ode to a Robyn

    Robyn Sullivan Jessop Brown

Just couldn’t make a tear come down.

She’d rub her eyes and bite her lip

    But alas, t’was ne’er a drip.

She’d wring her ear and pinch her skin

And tug the hairs upon her chin.

She’d dig her nails into her head

And twist her nipple ‘til it bled.

Her fists would be balled up and taut

And knees all tangled in a knot.

She’d squeeze and squeeze and squeeze some more

But not a tear could she implore.

Dry as dust, after all she’d done

She couldn’t make her eyeballs run.

But she was determined to prove to all

That she’s the victim of the family squalls.

So she wrung her ear and pinched her skin

And tugged the hairs upon her chin.

She dug her nails into her head

And twisted her nipple ‘til it bled.

She balled her fists and weaved her knees

And took a breath, slow and deep,

And scrunched her eyes and bit her lip,

And after a prayer to Joseph Smith,

She tightened and tensed her gluteus max

And pushed and strained, willing tears to hatch.

And with a grunt, heard loud and grand,

Robyn Brown done shat her pants.

  5. Every time Robyn tries to work out a few tears as she laments over what a victim she is (so what's that, five or six times every show?), I think of Lyle Menendez testifying in court, trying to squeeze out tears, after ambushing his parents in their den and shooting them sixteen times. Both are terrible actors.

As for Kody...he regales us with his twisted idea about taking a "lover" and then telling said lover that he simply cannot continue, because the real love of his life is currently at home drawing on her eyebrows.  I took a quick poll of all the women on planet Earth and not one of us wants to be involved with Kody Brown in any way so for the love, put that particular twisted fantasy to bed, sir.

On behalf of the Sisterhood of Planet Earth, I applaud your efforts.  However, when Kody spoke of taking on a lover, did he specify female?  Perhaps an additional survey is called for?

From TikTok: I love how there is video proof of Robyn's lie about not taking the personality test.

If you want to watch the episode where they take the test it is season 6 episode 10. If you start about 3.5 minutes in, you can see them all taking the test.

There is a reason why Janelle and Christine don't trust Robyn and think she lies.

It is because Robyn is untrustworthy and a liar.

In the S6 E10 show the family therapist administers a personality test in Sedona (yes, I did just waste 40 minutes watching this, and yes, that is pathetic, and yes, I would appreciate your prayers).  I don't know if this is the personality test to which Christine referred, but if so, Robyn definitely was present so presumably she took it herself - Christine did not take it on her behalf.  No doubt that would be a no-go with the therapist. The only results discussed during the show were Meri's, who scored an 8.  There was a brief description, with which Meri agreed, and said that these personality traits make it difficult for her to meld easily with the family dynamic. A few other tidbits from the show:  Robyn uses the word "safe," so apparently that word has been a trusty chestnut of the family since at least 2013, Kody expresses his lack of interest in or motivation to be empathetic and responsive to the varying needs and traits of his wives, Janelle indicates that she's committed to being in the family, but has no desire to invest anything more in the relationships than she already has, and (this was during the time they're trying to write a family mission statement) Janelle finds this endeavor to be eyeroll-worthy and describes it as "drama," and Christine comes across (to me, anyway) as sad and desperate to feel that she's an important member of the family and to Kody.  And on a superficial note, Christine and Janelle have grown more beautiful with age.  Enough said on that particular subject. 😉

Then when Kyle mentioned she hadn't read his book because she likes to read pages, not the computer, I thought to myself that is one cold, cold bitch.  I would think that writing a book and getting it published its kind of a big deal.  If not, I would at least act like I read it.

I am willing to bet this month's wine budget that the only writing Mo has done on this book is occasional email to check on progress of his ghost writer.

felt bad for Robyn's daughters. Their couch talks seem like hostage videos, and you just know Robyn and Kody are standing behind the camera.

Or Robyn's crouched behind the couch with her hands up their backs, being the puppeteer that she is.  Those two Robynettes are so glum!  What are they, 18 and 20? If they're so burdened by life now, how will they endure adulthood, with all the normal ups and downs of living?

Janelle has decided her earthly marriage is done.  She just can’t figure out whether she wants to( or can) break the eternal connection that she believes in.

But if she has decided she doesn't want to spend her remaining 30 or 40 years with him in this life, why would she want to spend eternity with him?  He has steadily spiraled downward in every way over the past twelve years. Can't imagine how awful he'll be after a few thousand years in the hereafter.

What, they don't have phones in Utah or wherever they live?  They had to drive all the way to Flagstaff to ask about soda crackers?  What a load of BS.

No kidding!  Or Internet access?  How hard would anyone have to look online to find remedies for morning sickness (and btw, of course Robyn had morning sickness! Probably the worst in the history of humankind, requiring Kody's 24/7 presence to hold back her hair while she puked).  And same with the possibility of pregnancy while nursing.  Information available at the touch of a keyboard.  Tony couldn't take five minutes from his online gaming to do a quick google search?  These two are not the sharpest tools in the shed.  And before their backed up septic tank floods their basement floor, hopefully they can drive to the next state to get advice about cleaning clogged hair from their drains.  Yuck!  The imagined visual of their sinks and showers is nauseating.

Agreed. We had the advantage of seeing Kody say over and over and over in TH segments that he was finished with Meri, but she didn't get the words until this episode. Meri is a very literal person who needs to see and hear things for herself.

But does she not watch the show?  Or someone who cares for her, who might guide her along in the acknowledgement that Kody has no desire to be in a relationship with her, perhaps other than a financial one that benefits him?  How could we, their audience, have been crystal clear for so long about this while Meri has remained in the dark?

And Meri, since you seem to be finally opening your eyes, see this: your dear friend Robyn, with whom you claim to have such a wonderful relationship, has spent the past x number of years maneuvering and manipulating for the purpose of becoming the sole owner of your husband's affections. Robyn is no friend to you.  Time to cut ties and move on.

Also, why Robyn cannot style Ari's hair into something not resembling Billy Ray Cyrus circa 1992 is beyond me.

LOL!  You give her more credit than I do.  To me it looks like the hairdo of a 1950's housewife.  I'll bet at night Robyn sets the curls in the front with criss cross bobby-pins. That's how my Great Auntie Rose got that look.

I don't think that polygamy should be illegal (as long as everyone involved is an adult) but I find it problematic and would never choose it.

In my opinion, that's the crux of the matter.  Everyone involved is not an adult.  Kids are born into these families, indoctrinated in the belief system, cloistered at least to some degree and kept from alternative world views, and thus, destined to perpetuate the beliefs of the generations that came before. Females don't have the same rights as males, including young girls, some very young, who become one of multiple wives of grown men, some very old.  Additionally, by virtue of the patriarchal element of the practice of polygamy, polygamist unions are not unions of equality.  Far from it. The wills and desires of wives and spirit wives are subject to the will and desire of the husband.  Among polygamist families in the US, there's wide scale child abuse, incest, wife battering and due to the insularity of most of these communities, these crimes go unprosecuted and the victims do not receive the protection that the law would provide.  And, as providing materially for twenty or thirty or more people in one family is nearly impossible, your and my taxes are supporting these people through welfare benefits.  The Brown family is not a typical polygamist family, at least not since they've been on TV, and even what we have seen in their lives is merely the tip of an iceberg that victimizes the most vulnerable.

We're not talking, say, Tom Brady's nanny, we're talking about someone who went on a Z-list retreat. I'm sure they could spout away with little repercussions, but if they were worried about it, but still wanted to get the info out...

Sally could tell Jane about the retreat and ask Jane to tell someone way outside Sally's circle. So Jane tells Dick all about it and Dick posts it on SM. Meri has no authority over Dick, nor does anyone else, so no one can compel Dick to give up his 'source'.

Sure Meri could try to figure it out, but would she try? And would she be successful?

Paedon said that it went beyond verbal abuse but did not specify physical abuse.  Could have been something more subtle like emotional abuse...planning an exciting outing with the kids that curried her favor and making a point of excluding those that didn't.  I fully believe Meri is capable of that

Those were my thoughts, too.  Emotional abuse, such as an adult imposing a group ostracism or icing out of one child or shaming or other such humiliations.

Paedon comes across to me as a show pony, desperate for validation and attention, and lapping up every ounce he's getting on social media.  While I don't doubt the kids were disciplined in ways many of us might consider inappropriate, even abusive, he is clearly (IMO) relishing the tease he's giving his audience, and less motivated by a desire to set things right than to meet what he perceives to be his own needs.  Sadly, meaningful healing from his childhood won't come from airing his family's dirty laundry on social media, and glibly, at that.

Barbara Walters, God rest her soul, would have been a great interviewer for the Browns because she was an investigative journalist with a lot of experience in human interest subjects and reluctant interviewees. She could ask the hard questions but she was good at winning the trust and comfort of the subject so they didn't see it coming.

BW would have asked hard-hitting questions like "Why the hair plugs, and why did you stop at three?" and "If you were a tree, deciduous or evergreen?"  And for Robyn, "Is your tear duct malfunction congenital?" and "Was the cookie your first husband stole from you homemade or store-bought?" Hopefully, she'd stay away from the classic "What makes you cry?" question for Robyn.  That would make for at least a five-part Tell Nothing.  RIP BW.
