  1. I don't think A&E has a clue that 3B sucked.

It is subjective as I though 3B was the best the show has been since Season 1 (the after Curse Breaking was such a let down and so uncreative that even with Cora running around I thought it sucked.) They were back in Storybrooke, a mystery villain for the characters, Regina being bitchy but not a psycho, Rump in a cage, etc.

I think I will get sick of the Frozen folks soon but right now its a jolt for the show.

  2. Regina:  *walks in after fiasco with Marian and catches them on her living room floor*  Regina:   Whatever. I’m going to bed. Lock up when you leave.

That would have been much more entertaining then the snow monster! Show..quit the CGI and rampaging monsters/giants, it looks really, really stupid.

Your post made me think, "What the hell would Rump and Dimmy be driving too?"  They have never answered if anyone can leave Storybrooke with their memories intact, and Rump a dump wouldnt leave anyway withougt magic so what were they doing, driving around the Storybrooke bubble endlessly?

  3. I think that there are certain story beats or plots that the writers really want to do but they don't want to spend any time on setting them up or fleshing them out, respectively.

Exactley...and its the show's major fault.  I agree about Sydney. It makes no sense that Regina or ANYONE would not think of him. They could have had her go find him in Storybrooke's flop house..(maybe "Universal Refuge for the Down and Out." )  and had him with the other bums , sitting around drinking while h is pining for Regina. (plus it would be funny to see Regina looking disgusted at the other bums while they wolf wistle at her..) Regina would find him and say in her Mayor Mills voice "Snap out of it, I need your help NOW!"

It would make more sense that way and show us that Regina is still Regina in that she doesnt care about him, only when she needs him but not totally dense that she would forget a man she spent so much time with (really, the most time of anyone else.)  But that would require a set up and the writers don't want to spend time on that. So we are supposed to hand wave that on a show whose very premise rquires hand waving. A show with any kind of supernatural premise should go out of it way to be logical because the show is so illogical. Because we bought into the premise doenst give the writers a the go ahead to not connect the dots in a logical and consistent manner.

  4. Someone in the other thread mentioned that Parrilla doesn't do "subtle," well and because of that Regina should be over the top evil. I disagree, as I think Parrilla and Regina were at their best in S1 where, while we knew she was the villain she also maintained that facade of "Single Working Mother Just Trying to Keep a Community Together as a Public Servant" and she actually showed some wistfullness that made us wonder if she could indeed change (I loved the first few episodes where we didnt know if Regina remembered who she was, as Parrilla played it so well.)  I think Parrilla is at her best when then tone her very firm butt down. Since S2 she has been so over the top as has the show been that it kind of ruins the fun (especially since we have flashback EQ to chew up the scenery.)

I do like it that Regina is annoyed with the Charmings, but I like that she kind of has respect/jealousy of Emma, and that Emma kind of sees Regina as what could have happened to her if she chose the dark side.  I think the main thing is that Regina needs someone like Tink who actually likes her but gives her a kick in the ass once in a while.

  5. I wasn't interested in the least about the Frozen group coming but low and behold, they breathed a little life into what has become a stale show.  The main problem in not the actors or characters its that the writers wont let anyone move on or change, so we see the same ole, same ole. One reviewer it had it write that the show is "Frozen," in time, with the characters just going back to square 1.

I love Regina, especially S1 Mayor Mills, but the writers swing the character back to crazy so fast I feel sorry for poor Parrilla. Last episdoe of S3 we see Regina stopping Rump from killing Zelena as "Too many people have died by our hands." and now suddenly she is thinking of killing Marion. Her funniest lines were "vanilla," and her covering up that she HAD forgot about dumb Sydney...and would have been great is S1 but supposedly she had grown (Parrilla would have made a great one liner spouting "bad" girl in a 30s or 40s movie...) I do like that she is trying to find out who wrote the book, but its about time, NO ONE thought of this before? I could buy that a super villain is tempted to go back to their evil ways when an obstacle occurs but we should be seeing more conflict from Regina, but she is just in EQ mode. The writers have no clue how to write her with any depth beyond being a saint or a sinner. Anyway, hopefully the writers have some plan then having R & R do the same damn thing this season, but I doubt it.

As I said, I am not into the "Frozen," movie but the actors are appealing, and its nice to see fresh young cute faces of the two girls and the groom to be (let hope he doesnt bite the dust..) and its nice to see family ties that arent perfect but are not screwed up. The two sisters love each other and its nice to see somone going out of their way for a family member to help out (and not just when they are about to be killed by a monster, etc.)

The show doesnt even bother to explain things..."Oh this house must have appeared after the second curse.." (it sure looks clean) and Regina traipsing around in the woods in her high heels and business suit (can anyone explain to me why she sometimes poofs out and other times drives her car, walks places, and uses a shovel instead of magic?)  Marion IS a bore though and I can only hope it

    Maleficent

back to take Regina's happiness away and to turn her back to the dark side..."It was so easy dear I could have done it in my sleep..you are quite easy to manipulate..oh by the way, Robin's okay in the sack but I've had better..oh but you wouldn't know, you had a boy who died, an old man and a sex slave!"

  6. If Regina had done the sensible thing and turned on Cora, she would have just high-fived Snow for figuring out how to kill Cora and everybody would have had a party at Grannie's. In order for Cora's death to mean something, they had to have her death mean something to somebody and Regina was the only possible character who might care (certainly, nobody else would. So, Regina had to want Cora not to die.   Therefore, she had to be on Cora's side.

I agree that is what the writer's persective was, but they still could have had Regina turn on her mother and stil feel pain about it. Its her mother and as we saw in the Fairy Back she was willing to kill her and was still sad about it, AND they could have had their stupid Neverland arc at the same time (while all the Cora drama was taking place no one would know that outsiders came in and grabbed Henry until the last minute.)

I still think that it would have been better last year if it was Cora who re cast the Curse...(I would love a Fairyback where Rumpie trys to get Cora to cast it, thinking that Cora would kill Regina to start it but she cooly says, "Then I would have to kill you my love, Regina is an means to an end.") So her whole ambition was to get to our world, and recast the Curse using Rumpie Dumps heart. I would have Regina believing her crap until the confrontation in the Clock Tower where Cora kills Snows Nanny. We woudl see that Regina is actually upset with killing the woman "That wanst part of the plan." and that she is starting to devlope empathy and see her mother for what she is. Somehow she finds out the whole plan of Cora to set things in motion that ends up killing Daniel ("Oh dear, as if I didn't know you were making a fool of yourself over a stable boy. I knew before Snow told me but I needed someone else to take the blame." ) Regina turns on Cora, Cora goes it alone against the good guys and Regina, etc. I would have scene that we had with Pan and Rump would have been Cora and Rump (who really are each other dark true loves...) and as Rump kills her she crushes his heart to start the curse and  as punishment to Regina and everyone else. Then Regina would have to send everyone back (I have no idea how to bring Rump back from having his heart crushed but this is Once and they do that b.s. all the time.)

Okay, that means we would have missed the Neverland arc but that would be find by me.

  7. My definition of a curse is a spell that is intended to hurt people. Curse 2 didn't directly hurt anyone directly, which is why it's such a joke.

True. but Regina and Snow cast it to just get back to our world to get to Emma, so it wasnt meant to hurt anyone as in Regina's original curse (which as people have said before, was a pitiful curse.."Oh, I am going to have indoor plumbing, never age, live in a quaint town in Maine and just have a general feeling of malaise??? Wow Regina, you are SCARY!!!")  So it was really just a reset of the Curse, and must be why the Merry Men didn't have modern clothing, etc...(might have been fun to see the people from Coradome sent to our world with no clue what the hell was going on and nowhere to live.) So, did Regina work in Zelena's punishment of being Ms. Gulch like living on a farm from watching the movie, did the curse do it using its knowlege of our cultural icons, or did Zelena just wip up that disquise when she landed here?)

  8. Regina broke Zelena's memory curse even without being the savior, or having a heart. 3B was a mess!

Agreed. (though I think 3B was more entertaining the Isle of Potted Plants) but that can be handwaved away as it wasnt really a "curse," more like a spell (whats the dif, hell if I know, I would think a curse would be bigger) that she worked into the Curse at the last minute (how did she know they were re-casting the curse anyway???) Since it was Regina's curse it kind of (in a Once way) makes sense that her magic can break that spell.

My big question is..how did Walsh get to our world with no way to do so. Regina set up (re set?)  walls between the worlds. Is it because he was from our world? And how did he change back and forth from monkey to man?  I know its the two dorks thinking it was cool to have a monkey attack Emma but it would have been more Season 1 ish to have Walsh try to push her off the roof his old mortal self and he falls off during the fight.

  9. Concerning jumping the shark...Oh as this site itself practically says, this show not only jumps the shark, it swims back, jumps it again, and again, and again, and revels in it. Which is fine, since it lost the adultness and darkness and depth of S1..I am going along with the WTF moments especially without American Horror Story to watch.

I have no dout we will find out that in the past time line Regina did not kill the so far dull Marion. Hell, I think Marion is long dead and this is the SQ or Maleficnet in drag...actually I HOPE its Maleficent in Coramode and I hope all she does is screw with Regina all the time acting like a saint, like Regina in Season1 (where she was much more fun as the Martha Stewart from Hell who acts like her crap doesnt smell.)  "I myself felt violated when I found vodoo dolls that looked like me in the Mayor's Office...oh poor dear, I guess Evil in made not born and it also never dies."

  10. It's one thing for the royals, but if I was one of the townspeople who had been dragged back into being a peasant, I'd have been pissed.

Exactley, and I have said before...who wouldnt want to live where there are cars, and central heat and air and medical care. I think the privelaged royalty stuff is annoying and I wish the town folk would say "You can call him Prince whateveryoulike but here you aren't royalty." I also thought it was a missed opportunity to have the other royals all vying for positions of power in this small little town, and Rump A Dump manipulating the dfferent factions for his own means. He is much more intersting as Mr. Gold then as Sparkle Dark or making out with his daughter.

I would think that the Charmings dumb decisions in this world and theirs would totally make everyone but their most desperate groupie Grumpy want to get rid of them.

  11. They would never allow their bad guys to have limited magic. Since the start of Season 2 it has made no sense that the land without magic can have magic so easily. They should have always had limited magic in SB with R & R and any big bad having to bide their time and come up with the proper ingrediants to make them work...(sort of like Zelena having to collect all her things for her back in time spell, however, it made no sense that she didnt just turn everyone into flying monkeys and keep Snow in a cage until she gave birth...the writers giving their villains so much power makes everyone looks stupid and ineffectual including the villain.  Sleepy Hallow does it right, there is magic but its not all powerful and the vilains all have a weakness...(however convenient it is) they don't fail because they are stupid or just decide not to kill someone.  The odds are more even.

She had to at least play nice to keep from alienating Henry further. That could have gone on for quite a while, with her maybe trying some sneaky, underhanded things to make Snow and Emma look bad or maybe trying to come up with a new scheme to get

I never understood how the sneaky Mayor Mills who for 28 years acted like her crap didn't stink ("I feel personally violated!") somehow became stupid and obvious in everything she did since Season 2.  I wish S2...before Snow and Emma fell into the vortex thing,...that they had a trial for Regina.. it would be totally screwed up as there is no case law in our world for enacting curses..so they would have to have charge her with Snow's frame job. Of course there would be no evidence and to add insult to injury Charming's adopto dad would defend her..so the fairy back would be of Regina's trial in the EF, with her and her balls out approach, to Regina in SB, with her feigning a "Change of Heart," and pleading for mercy..."I brought to a world without magic, where there is medicine, central heat and air, not to mention indoor plumbing you dolts...I mean, citizens of SB. Now that the curse is broken this IS a better world for us all...I was distraught, I was half crazed out of my mind, in this world it would be called a break with reality" of course, only Parrilla could pull it off that kind of thing, with us knowing all along she was full of crap (and how much fun would it be to watch her camp it up in a low key style.)  There is a mistrial just because its so bizarre and the Charmings ,  who know that Regina us up to no good, will play along for Henry's sake, but let her know they are watching her.  "Of course dear, shall we start planning on who is having Thanksgiving this year, oh of course me, you live in a dump and can't cook."  Snow, "As long as the gravy doesnt put us into a sleep with eternal dreams of regret, okay."  Rump would then let loose the Walgreens Halloween Decoration Wrath and the rest of the season could go as planned.  Regina would then indeed like it that she is somewhat tolerated, she starts to actually slowly assimilate and that could start her slow redemption path, while still being a fun bad girl causing trouble on the sly.

  12. Regarding Henry and magic..it seems the only inherintally magical person is Emma. Both Rump and Regina can draw on magic if it is present, which in the EF and now Storybrooke, must be in the air like oxygen...even Regin had trouble using magic without her spellbook (which has never been mentioned again.)

Though I always took it that the "True Love Kiss," that broke Zelena's curse was the power from Henry not Regina.

Are we sure Marian is going to kick it, I see Robin as more likely to bring back the Evil Queen that A & E are so enamored with.  But really...really want Belle to kick it.

  13. Throughout all of S1, there were no breadcrumbs at all to hint at Regina ever being redeemable. Not one soul felt sorry for her, not even her own son.

I think we had some indication that Regina "might," be redeemable...but it was more of the way Parrilla played it with the lines given her.  She would look wistful when saying something like, "Bad things can happend and  can turn you dark.." which as written was more Mayor Mills b.s. but as played by Lana, it had another level.

Now my understanding, and I am most likely fanwanking this, but the curse stopped time and froze the residents into their new identities. Because of that, Regina was stuck basically in the last day of the Enchanted Forest when she cast the curse, angry, vengefull, self pitying, etc.  After the curse broke she was able to move, little by little out of that.

Here is how they should have played it in S2: Regina agrees to play nice for Henry, then slowly realizes Snow is not the devil. She realizes all that manhunting wasn't validated, and her real enemy was her mother. Then she kills Cora, which the town throws her a party for, and then proceeds to warm up to the Charmings.

Exactley, and they could have ended it as Season 3A ended, Cora somehow unleashes the Curse,.her real reason for going after the Knife of Doom, etc. was never really about becoming the Dark One, Cora is way too smart and controlling for that..she wanted to get Rump powerless so she could crush his heart and she was using Regina to get to where she hid the curse..she wanted the Curse all along so she could have the whole land cow tow to her for eternity..while wearing smart dark pant suits and flashy scarves..) Rump "dies." the Curse is cast, somehow the combination of Regina's dark magic and Emma's white magic kills Cora, and then Regina has to send them all back to save them from being Dead Cora's meat puppets..cue Season 3A  and they could have spent the whole year on the new curse and flashbacks to the lost year..( I could excuse the writers lame ass excuse for bringing Rump a Dump back...) That way a whole Season of the lost year could include, among other things, Regina and Snow coming to terms with each other in a more natural way then it is now. Finally free of both Cora and Rump Regina begins to realize what she has become and the horrible things she does (especially back in the EF, where the people protected by CoraDome would not be pleased to see Regina back and coudl be harder then the Storybrookers..)

    • Love 1
  14. With Regina's trust issues, would she really have just given Robin Hood her heart?  Everything was just played too easy.

I always thought that was weird and took me out of.."the story," as much as the bad CGI usually does. I could have seen it if they had established that Regina and Robin had some kind of growing "friendship," during the lost year, say he saved her life (since this is Once eveything has to be BIG) and their suppressed memories were starting to submerge (I know this is for another thread but why didn't Emma's return to SB cause that curse to start breaking the second time) when Emma comes back. But we saw little of them interacting in the EF. (I know people like the split season but I could see the whole "new curse/lost year," storyline to last the whole season..so we could have seen them fighting Zelena in the EF and slowly draw out Zelena's plan in Storybrooke..) But, the make up with Snow in the lost year was totally swept under the rug too.. I was hoping to see some major sniping at each other living under the same roof and running a kingdom together, and Charming going out to the pub to get away from them...)

All the most interesting things are ingnored by Adam and Eddy to focus on big events, bad CGI and a new "Disney," character cameo.

    • Love 1
  15. That would not be fighting for her love by showing growth, that would be belittling Marian to make Marian look stupid and bad. No improvement on Regina's side, just a change of means.

Exactley, which as I said...this is Regina. I thought the "white magic," thing was so much bull crap.  And it would be an improvement, she would not be killing anyone, just back to Season 1 smart sneaky mayor. Look, after 28 years of watching "As the World Turns," and "Guiding Light," the woman would learn a thing or two of soap opera vixen handbook.

I do not want the Evil Queen back...that is boring at this point (and looks stupid in Storybrooke). I would like a morally ambivalent gray character, which leads me to:

Basically I think they'd need to have way more objectivity about the character than they currently possess, and really more interest in character at all than they possess, to pull off a true, satisfying Gray Regina.

Very true and I think the writers think in terms of black and white everyone should be over the top good or bad. Season 1 Regina was more interesting but even then they took things too far...sure Regina was a cold villain but a villain who feels some remorse or ambivilance and STILL does something bad is much more interesting then a cartoon Evil Queen (or a whiny mope!) I think I read somewhere that Parrilla was the one who put the look of sadness in Regina's face when she took out the Underwear Model Sheriff..the writers just had her crushing it. Also she called Katherine her friend, and LP played it like she meant it with a touch of wistfullness, but then she kidnapps Katherine and wants her murdered. I have no problem with that but it would have been much more interesting if they had written it like Regina DID consider her a friend, but if she serves a purpose in her evil plans then she had to go...

Anyway, a villain with a touch of humanity is more interesting and Parrilla can play it, but I don't think the writers can write it. Regina is either an Evil Queen, a whiney mope or "the purveyor of the whitest magic EVER!!!!"

  16. I hope Regina does fight for Robin (though I think he is too dull for her.) There is nothing wrong in fighting for what you want for in life and well, since this is Regina I don't want her to be Snow White. I want her to still be conflicted and snarky, and annoyed, and somewhat selfish (though trying not to be) just not murderous.  I would love for someone not so annoyingly "pert," take her aside and say, "Look this is the mother of his child who he thought was dead so he made her a saint in his mind. However, what if she isnt a saint, and what if living with someone that isnt a dream person turns out to not be that great. " I think it woudl be funny if Marion can't cook and Regina turns up with her lasagna...or gives Marion the recipe and she puts in too much red pepper, etc. Regina stages a fake accident where Robin has to save her and her top conveniently falls off... Come to think of it Regina doesnt need Sydney, she needs a gay bestie to help her. "Girl, wear that turtle neck from Season 1, it makes you look modest but shows off that rack of yours at the same time. Yes, Marion is once again looking like a mess, she still knows nothing about modern make up..."

    • Love 1
  17. (especially if the freezes messes with Regina and Rumple's magic, so they would have to deal with "real life" as well).  That would provide so much more opportunity for character drama instead of Evil Ice Witch trying to shoot everyone with sharp icicles and turning people into giant popsicles.

I really want that to happen, i.e. Rumple and Regina loosing their powers in the freeze. I mean, how could a little teenage girl who can make it snow be a threat to supposed big bad Rumple unless she can indeed "freeze," magic. The promo or Regina going to get Sydney kind of hinted at that, as why would she need to go get him and not just smoke her way into the cell?  But then, these writers love to give their characters outlandish powers that they wouldnt use for convenience sake (i.e. Cora and Regina actually using a shovel???)  I loved Season 1 Regian and Rumple being sneaky and using their brains to cause problems. But the show has been a cartoony mess since the Curse broke so I expect Peoplecicles to be the order of the day.

  18. Or maybe the twister took Dorothy through time and space and she really was from the 1930s.

I always thought that is what the "portals," are, not just transporting people to different realms but different times. I don' think the "enchanted lands," all run concurrently with our time frame, as how would we have all those stories at different times. Snow White's story would have to have been written before it actually happened. Also, a Dorothy from the 80s would have grown up with the iconic story, including her name and her dress, if the time frame ran with ours. In addition, Dorothy new nothing about Oz at all. Unless the writers cheated and did the same thing they did with that dumb Alice spin off and make her from another world that is not ours.  I think that the portals between lands are connected to a certain time and place maybe?

In reference to the poster about Zeleana sending Dorothy to a scary place, Dorothy had to be sent home to her own land, as it was not Zelena's choice. Dorothy was wearing the " Silver Shoes," and it was on her own "power" that she left.  Since the writers write in the "Wouldnt it be cool if," style, why didnt they have an aged Dorothy return to Storybrooke and it was actually she that defeats the witch

  19. Realm jumping..stupid and boring and I am one of those viewers who hates the CGI.  Leave them in Storybrooke stuck to work out their problems.  They have a whole town of people from different worlds that Regina pissed off or who she is pissed off at, so lets just explore the different realms through the new characters flashbacks. The jumping all over makes Rumpel look like an absolute idiot for spending hundreds of years on the curse.

A big yes to Robing being bland. But the actor wasnt helped out by what the writers chose to focus on. I thought we would have a fresh take last season on the flashbacks going back to the lost year, so we could see the Storybrook relationships clearly mirrored in the recent past. So I thought we would see Robin and Regina getting cozy in the EF just as they cozied up in Storybrook but we didnt get a lot of that..they didnt even really get together in the EF, and that was a big mistake. At least then they would have had a least 6 months of realtionship and that would explain why Regina would be devasted by the return of Marion. Right now its like Marion came and claimed Regina's latest hook up and Regina should be like, "Uh, okay."  It too hope that Robin fades away like the other 80 characters they made a big deal about who disappeared. Then Regina can find someone right for her, like Count Dracula or the Gnome King or somebody cool.  Is still think that Regina's true love should be from the "real" world so that it explains why he wouldnt be averse to jumping the Evil Queen.

  20. Here is the full clip (the last one that I posted just had audio for half of it). Damn. That cell she's kept him in.

I think Sidney needs to join the Belle/Robin support group because he looks so happy to do her a favour after she's kept  him locked in that cell forever. I suppose we won't know where he was during the missing year and I guess Snow's curse plunked him back in his cell (I'm sure that means she's just as evil as Regina).

So, just to be clear...Regina can do white magic without a heart and with some dude in solitary for a crime he did not commit?  Okay, then.  I suppose that she still has a vault full of hearts too.

That clip was great...the clothes, the shoes, the walk, the manipulation. Mayor Mills is back.  So, I am thinking this is a flashback after the curse broke (to explain where Sydney has been all along..)  or a dream.  However, I hope it is now and somehow Elsa's arrival "froze," the magic in Storybrooke, so Regina has to go back to her good old Mayor Mills days.

I would love it if she was acting like she was reformed and being nice to everyone while Sydney does her dirty work (drugging Marion and putting her in Doctor Whale's bed maybe???.. Regina: "I was as shocked as everyone that the poor girl is a sex addict! Emma watch Henry I need to go over and console Robin.. "    They wont do it as these goofs like to rely on magic to get them out of having to write things logically but one can hope.

Sydney really deserves everything he gets, he has been Regina's rag for so long. And he took the rap for her to begin with so this is where it leads you.
