Yessssssasss!!!!! My Thor is so fine. That cover is gorgeous.

'Your Thor?" Get in line-a very long one. ;)

He's a basic bitch (with muscles to spare) but I just love him as Thor.

On their best day, most basic bitches wish they looked that good.

That was depressing. I expected it to be bad, based on the description I'd read. I wasn't expecting it to be that bad. When you call your movie Ragnarok, you set up certain expectations. Then you go and make a live-action cartoon? Even the previous Thor movies weren't this terrible. Looks like I'll be skipping this one.

The Thor movies were never my favorites in the Marvel Universe so it probably helps that I had comfortably low expectations. GotG2 and this are all about harmless entertainment for me; next year with Black Panther and Infinity Wars is when I'll be more invested. This movie at least looks fun (IMO, a Marvel strength over DC) and I adore Hulk, so I'm all in.

[Hela Blanchett shatters Mjolnir] I'm in.

[Shot of Loki] I'm iffy.

"He's a friend from work!" -- I AM HERE FOR THIS.

ETA to clarify some of why I was excited from the beginning.  Although, TBH, I generally love Marvel and particularly love Fun Marvel.  This looks Fun Marvel.

I liked it, but then I love Marvel so much that it's hard for them to go wrong in my book.  Anyway,  I see the criticism that it looks a lot like GotG, but live action cartoon is escaping me--except for the Hulk.  But then, the Hulk, as much as I love him and Bruce, has always looked like a live action cartoon to me, so in that sequence, I see it.

I was in when I saw Cate Blanchett just a few seconds in.  She looks bad ass.

I loved it. Looks like crazy fun. Some of the Hela stuff has to be tied to Infinity War I'm assuming; she's totally destroying Asgard. Also was someone, Thor?, riding a bird? Edit: Apparently its Valkyrie on a Pagesus!!

Also Chris Hemsworth looks great ;)

Heh, that was fun. As we make the move to Infinity War there has to be more pulling us into the cosmos. So it looks like this one won't have any Earth ties, which is a good thing.

I hope we get to find out what happened to Hulk between flying off in the Quinjet and arriving in the Gladiator arena, and don't get the Professor X Last Stand-The Wolverine-Days of Future Past treatment.

Thor with short hair?? I loved him with long but damn, is it hot in here?? *fans self*

That entire clip I was waiting for Hulk and his enterance did not disappoint. YES!

I was surprised to see Loki....Thor thinks he's dead right? I wonder if this is a we see Loki but Thor sees his father or if Thor finds out Loki is alive.

I like fun cheesy Marvel and I thought this was going to be a serious movie. I loved it!

I really love that Thor considers the Avengers "work". Steve and Tony see the team as a family but Thor would just consider it like a job.

I hope this is a return to the "boisterous Thor" from the early part of the first movie. I know that his character arc he had to learn humility and be mature but he also became less fun and too serious in both Avengers movies and Thor: The Dark World.

I think they realized that Hemsworth works best playing a lovable goofball.  That's why he was a bright spot in Ghostbusters.  So they leaned it to.

Looks like the right choice.

I don't know; I actually really enjoyed it, even if it felt like it was dipping into Guardians of the Galaxy territory at times.  But despite the unevenness of his past films (enjoyed the first one, can barely remember the second one), I always felt there was potential there with Thor and his universe, and I hope this finally does it right.  And I can't help it, I really like Chris Hemsworth, despite whatever weaknesses he has.  And I like that they seem to be having be more comedic this go around.  His reaction to seeing The Hulk made me laugh out loud.

That said, I'm already preparing myself to them to somehow not fully do Cate Blanchett as Hela justice, despite the perfect casting.  Because I'm really starting to think Marvel can never create an iconic villain (except Loki.)

I finally got around to watching Dr Strange last night. And the mid credits scene has Strange talking to Thor about Loki being in this dimension. And if Loki and Thor can find Odin, then they will leave the dimension so Strange decides to help Thor find Odin. So that seems to have progressed the plot beyond the ending of Thor 2.

The Thor franchise is one of the Marvel franchises I least care about. The movies are enjoyable , but my fragile little mind can't deal with the mythical fantasy aspects of the plot. One of the issues I had with the Strange movie. I remember watching the first Thor movie and being disappointed it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be (not being a comics reader I knew little of Thor but that by 'day' he is Donald Blake and by 'night' he is Thor). I expected more comic book hero and less Middle Earth. The ending to the trailer is hilarious and I hope there is lots of humour in the movie cause it will help distract me from the myth talk and the over reliance on special effects (the humour helped me enjoy Strange).

Yeah, that does not look good to me. It is baffling imo that after Thor 1 provided such a strong foundation--it's easily my favorite of the Phase 1 Marvel movies--they've faltered so badly with the Thor franchise. I had hoped Ragnarok would recover from the awfulness of The Dark World, but...that trailer is not making me hopeful.

That trailer makes this look AMAZING. Something I never thought I'd say about a Thor movie (even the first one didn't really engage me). Even Jeff Goldblum seems to work, and that's a phrase even LESS likely to hear.

And Cate Blanchett? From this, it looks like she's worth every penny they paid her (and more). Back the money truck up for an extra delivery to her house, if this is what she's bringing.

Holy shit Immigrant Song! Zeppelin are pretty well known for not letting their songs into movies unless they personally approve. Some that come to mind include Almost Famous, Argo and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. If this is as enjoyable as those i will be happy. Plus I loved the 70's style graphics.

Although I've had reservations, that trailer was a blast.  It wasn't cheesy, just fun.  I can see why some people are hesitant because it's a major change in tone, but I think the Thor franchise needs some fun after the dreary Dark World, which should have been a lot better than it was.  That said, I do want to see how TW incorporates the actual Ragnarok into the film, but this trailer inspires a lot more hope than the last one-shot.

It looks like a lot of fun with a great cast.  Thor was so grim in The Dark World and that one scene with the Hulk looks like it makes up for it.

I love the 80s era movie title graphics too.

I think that cast is outstanding. I just hope that the movie doesn't let them down. I am a huge Cate Blanchett fan and I love that Tess Thompson is getting such as high profile role. Idris Elba is in this as well.

To me it feels just like the Walt Simonson Thor comics used to: a fun thrillride. I've already gotten more enjoyment out of a two-minute trailer than I did from the entirety of Thor: the Dark World. In fact, I can't recall a trailer that hyped me up that much about a movie in years.

Thor has always been (IMO) the weakest of the Marvel movies. First movie was boring, second had a horrible (even for Marvel) villain (shame because I love Christopher Eccleston) and this just looks dumb. I think the Asgard stuff has potential but, the battle royale against the hulk seems lame to me.

Personally,  i don't think Thor or Chris Hemmsworth can actually carry a movie. They're better used as supporting characters I in other heroes' movies.

I was not interested in Thor 3 at all, but people were raving after the trailer came out, so I watched, and it does look fun! Here for costume/production design porn and the non-Earth setting. Comedic Helmsworth is a bonus. My ignorance about the source material is going to help my enjoyment a lot.

Words cannot describe my excitement at seeing Hela's head-dress. That is so out of this world even in the comics and so iconic and I desperately wanted to see Cate in it the second they announced her as Hela.

It. Looks. So. Fucking. Awesome.

Also, Jeff Goldblum... who I have loved ever since 'Earth Girls are Easy' and I will never be sorry about that. I would be absolutely down with them moving the Thor franchise more into the Walt Simonson era... really operatic and bigger than life but also kind of insane and hilarious. They maybe should have done that with The Dark World and given Eccleston the chance to really go to town on Malekith the Accursed who is a scenery chewing lunatic and could have been so much more than what they did with him.

It's like no one in charge of that movie has actually read any Norse myths... you know, like the ones where Loki convinces Thor to dress like a woman and convinces the giants they're trying to fool that he's a nervous bride when Thor eats a ridiculous amount of food at the bridal feast, or that he's just shy when he won't show his face from under his veil.

This one, though? Hela, Thor in chains, gladiator fights, Jeff Goldblum wearing chin-liner... all that's missing is a soundtrack by Queen. (Okay, it's Zep but you get my point.)
