Why did he keep coming up with magical stuff that required darkness to use it? There was the wand that required someone to be a certain degree of dark before it could be used, and a dark person who'd really reformed wasn't dark enough. They still had to be a little dark. Huh? And then there was the magic pen that required the blood of a dark Savior. Wouldn't you hope that a Savior wouldn't go dark? Why have a magical device that won't work unless a really bad thing happens? It's a testament to this show's poor world building. Is dark magic always evil and corrupting? What can dark magic do that light magic can't, and vice versa? Do the residents have an opinion on what magic is good or evil? Do dark and light magic need to coexist like some sort of yin yang thing? I understand fiction tends to play with the two concepts a lot and equate them to measures on the moral scale. Sometimes dark and light symbolize evil and good, but other times they're just two elements. 5A was the arc where this confusion was most problematic.
