Jason47 on Days scheduling in February during the Winter Olympics:

Quote

Had several questions recently about the upcoming Winter Olympics airing on NBC in February. As posted earlier this year, "Days" will be airing throughout the Olympics. However, NBC will be airing the Olympics live across all time zones from 3PM-5PM ET (Noon-2PM PT/1PM-3PM MT). This will force affiliates in the Mountain and Pacific time zones to air "Days" at special times for the two weeks of the Olympics. A possibility is that "Days" may air from 2-3PM PT and from 3-4PM MT. Most viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones will not be affected and should get "Days" at the usual time. Please stay tuned to your local affiliate as February gets closer for more information about the specific time "Days" will be airing in your area.

No big deal, but this isn't true... I'm in the Eastern time zone and "Days" airs at 3PM.  So if the Olympics are on instead, it'll have to be moved.

Daytime Deviants: With all the cleaning house going on in the industry, maybe it is time someone took a blowtorch to the set of this daytime show. It is without a doubt the worst show out there with the way it treats people. I don't think it is any coincidence that the owners of the show have had some of the worst offenders out there. They live for this kind of culture. There is a long history of the producers having the ugliest casting couch scenes out there. Men or women, legal or not. If you are an actress or an actor and want to work and are willing to have sex, then you can get a part. Talk to that actor from the show who had a few issues since he left. He will flat out tell you he hit the casting couch when he wasn't legal and the producers passed him around like candy for the few months he was on the show. He has been a mess since and tried to go up the ladder, but the ladder was filled with the same type of people. I remember one time the show tried to bring in new producers and writers to try and stop some of the awful behavior. All of them were fired and the old guard brought back. Within the past couple years this other actor who was on the show said once he stopped having sex with the producers and writers, they changed his storyline to get rid of him. One actress on the show got a boyfriend so stopped having sex with the producers and writers and they fired her 12 hours after she said she had a new boyfriend. One actor who refused all casting couch advances was fired but later went on to win an Emmy which made the producers look bad since their reason for firing him was he was a terrible actor. Guess who the biggest casting couch person is on the set? Would it shock you to know his best friend is that former A+ list mostly television actor who loves porn stars and drugs and always seems to find his way into this. Does it shock you he worked for the same owners back when he was at his most vile? Oh, if you are an actress or an actor who tries to say something publicly, the producers will get their loyal casting couch actors and actresses to deny everything and then sic the daytime fandom on the talking out of turn ungratefuls. They are all called ungrateful. They are reminded on a daily basis that if they are not willing to have sex, there are a hundred out there to take their place. Just change the name of the actor or actress playing the role. Done and done. A lot of the actors and actresses on the show who are tired of the harassment were hoping against hope that the death of one of their own who had been repeatedly raped during his short time on the show might shed some light on what is happening. The problem was that no one knew that his short time on the show a decade earlier was the reason he killed himself.
Show: "Days of Our Lives"
Actor from the show who had a few issues since he left: Dylan Patton
Actor they changed his storyline:
Actress who got a boyfriend:
Tried to say something publicly: Jonathon McClendon
Death of one of their own: Brad Bufanda (2002 - 2003)
Actor who won an Emmy: Chandler Massey/Charlie Sheen

They're not besties but yes, they are (or were) very good friends. They met through their then publicist, Jeff Ballard. There are pictures of them together hanging out...and in one of his Emmy speeches, he acknowledges Charlie.

I don't believe that blind item wrt Chandler. We know why he was let go early.

That's a good read, but I don't know how much of it I believe......it reads like some sort of sexual penny dreadful.

And in the current climate, you'd think the offenders would be named and excoriated.  There's never been a more sympathetic period for victims of sexual abuse as there is right now.

Wasn't there a girl who was like a sorority girl character that knew one of the core teens (I think the Abbie/Melanie Salem U era) who suddenly got a lot of screen time, and then just as abruptly left the show? I remember that she was rumored to have been sleeping with the producers and then someone stepped in and stopped it.

I find it hard to believe that veterans like Deirdre, Drake, and Kristian would (a) do such a thing, and (b) tolerate if they knew about it but weren't doing it themselves.  I have no idea why I say that considering I don't know these people at all, but someone would step up and say something.

The rumor was about Kristen Renton, who played Morgan Hollingsworth when Stephanie and Chelsea were in the sorority.  She was briefly paired with JKJ's Philip.  IDK if it was true, but I always took it with a major grain of salt, since it was mostly pushed by fans of another of Philip's pairings.  There was a lot of change in focus and direction on the show around that time.  The producer in the rumors was Ed Scott who had been at Y&R for many years before he came to DAYS.

Re: the blind item, nothing would surprise me in Hollywood, but Massey won several Emmys before he was let go, and now he's back.  And how much continuity has there been BTS since the early 2000's?  I wouldn't rule out some incidents coming to light at DAYS but IDK about this one.

I remember GG's wife on twitter a while back saying that behind the scenes is more of a soap opera than in front of the camera.

She knew something was going on.

I remember there was some soap reality show with GG and his wife, Farah Fath and Jean Paul Lavosier who were a couple at the time, and the woman who plays Chloe, who was dating the guy who plays Shawn at the time, and GG's wife was jealous -and said so - about GG's scenes with Alison Sweeney.  But even she said on the show it was her insecurity talking.

And now I've outed myself and admitted I watched that.....

I watched some of it -- I remember doubting GG"s wife's jealousy was anything but for the camera.  Nadia's mom was the best.

I loved that show lol. I wish they'd bring it back or do something similar.

Dirty Soap was the reality show and I was also a fan.  I do wish that they would bring it back.  It was one of those good natured shows with not really any "actual drama" and everyone was friends.  Very refreshing. Everyone on the show came off as really nice decent people.

I remember one of the episodes and Farrah Fath (Mimi) revealed that Nadia (Chloe) was very much the heart of their teen scene.  She was a big sister to both her and Kristen Storms and a lot of the other younger characters on the show and really looked out for them on set.  I remember developing a lot of respect for Nadia after the way a lot of the actors on Dirty Soap would praise her.

Chandler fuels that fire for fun, I think. I don't have inside scoop, it's just the feeling I get from people I know who know him.

They did:

So much bro-fun that I'm pretty sure they're straight. I do think that Chandler is smart enough to know that giving off some vagueness about his sexuality is good for his gay fan base. Reminds me of Nick Jonas, who I'm positive is also totally straight but he likes to hint that he might not be.

Does anyone know if Chandler actually finished at UCLA? I can't find any confirmation on whether he really did go back to school. Not that it maters if he did or not, but that was cited as the reason for him leaving in the first place. He had a great little line in an interview about how he would fool the people there into believing he's 19 with his backpack and a little razor scooter he was going to use to get to class.

Chandler is not finished yet. He said he was able to make this return to Days happen b/c the rest of his classes could be completed online.

Chandler is straight. Not sure if he's still with Simone or not, though. He hasn't posted anything with her in awhile.

Wow, sad to hear about Sarah. This woman is really an incredibly talented actress. I was always shocked that she wasn't immediately in demand after leaving GH.

Was really happy when she joined Days. Even though she was largely wasted.

Maybe Ron can get her back to Days as a brand new character.

  • Love 4

I also wanted to add that Sarah and her daughter look like they could be sisters, instead of mother and daughter.  Her daughter is a grown woman. Sarah still has beautiful abs, damn!

I loved her Carly and the recasts after her never held a candle to her.

Carly went downhill after they put her with Sonny. I wanted Carly and AJ to get together for real, after so many years of acrimony.

Sarah was on  the series Cold case on CBS. She was really good on there and her character was promptly written out..

General Hospital has always treated her badly. I remember there was a rumor that  Jill show killer Pharren Phelps, the executive producer, got nasty with her for getting pregnant after her character Carly had given birth.  She vented her anger at Sarah and told her that she did not send her to get pregnant.  She was furious that the story that the show had planned for Carly had to be scrapped, to accommodate her maternity leave.

She was the best Carly, IMO. She was completely wasted on Days. I wouldn't mind Ron bringing her on as a different character. She's a top notch actress.

Yes to both.  I didn't like her Carly but I it was must-watch, love to hate.  And I never could figure out, or even cared, what Show was trying to do with her and Brady when she was playing Madison.  Then Show brought in Ian Buchanan and it got worse.  That was all on the writing, not the actors.

  • Love 5

I didn't like Carly no matter who played her.  Jason, Carly and Sonny are the reason I stopped watching General Hospital.  I don't know if Sarah Brown was underpaid, but SB and MB are overpaid and overrated.

Days doesn't seem to know what to do with good actors/actresses it gets from other soaps.  So many of them have been awkwardly shoehorned into the show only to be written out a few months later.

  • Love 7

With the exception of Freddie/Sonny, I usually can separate the dislike of a character from the actor and vice versa. I like MB and LW but HATE Sonny and Carly...and Jason is just boring. Although, I don't think Burton can act at all. I think the Emmy voters were on crack.

Carly was fun at first. I loved to hate her...coming in, taking Brad from her mom, playing pool with Jason, etc... then they recast her and turned her into a "heroine." No. Now it's General Mobster starring MB, SB and LW and just...no.

Don't forget Sonny killing AJ and getting away with it.   It was a cold-blooded murder.  AJ had his issues, but, he did not deserve that.. Carly became vile to me, when she mocked Robin's HIV status, that was beyond the pale.   I was able to tolerate a lot of horrible stuff that she did, that was my limit..

I'm just curious, why do you dislike Freddie Smith? I don't follow actors or pay much attention to what they say or do IRL, has he been obnoxious in some way? Inquiring minds want to know, lol.

I only recently started watching again, mainly because I heard Will was alive and CM had returned. I stopped watching around the time Sami left, before Will was killed but after Guy Wilson took over. As I recall Freddie/Sonny was pretty well liked around here, but of course back then he was pretty non-offensive, just running the coffee shop with Chad and being a supportive boyfriend/husband. It's kind of funny to come back and find him so hated. I do have to roll my eyes at him somehow being qualified to be CEO of Titan Well, Chad too for that matter. Please. Along with JJ fast-tracking it from college/high school dropout to detective in two years (I assumed he was a patrol officer until Hope called him detective yesterday). But hey, obviously it pays to have connections lol.

They have used fans for their scheme to make money.  He almost got fired from the show for spilling secrets about the show.  He promised fans, spoilers, if they would join his pyramid scheme. Some of them got screwed over.. Guy and Judy Evans went to bat for him to keep his job.  Freddie's greed is off-putting. I don't have a problem with an actor having side hustles, especially, in daytime, but, don't use the fans.. Soap fans are the best and the most loyal, in my opinion.  I used to feel bad about Chandler and Casey for treating him like crap, when he came on the show. Not anymore.. I had no idea about any of this, especially the part about using the fans to get their money--that's pretty gross and very unprofessional.  Freddie is lucky that Guy and Judy stood up for him--didn't he also get into a horrible car crash, injuring his girlfriend, because he was drinking and driving?  He's lucky no one got killed.
