“…Robert leaves to cherish his memories…two very special childhood friends, Damon Wayans and…”

Quote

Robert Alphonso Nedd was the second child born to Crawford and Lula Nedd, in New York City on June 19, 1960. He was raised in Chelsea and lived there most of his life; later residing in the Bronx. Robert departed this life on Saturday, July 2, 2016.
Robert was a funny, fun loving, kind-hearted person who was always ready to help anyone in need; we called him a missionary and the social worker, for he visited the sick and saw to their needs as best he could. Robert always knew what was going on in the old neighborhood.
Robert often went out of his way to make everyone feel loved and special; doling out compliments was his forte. He was sincere and genuine. He was a social butterfly. At parties and family events he was the one who made sure everyone was okay. He made sure he danced with all the ladies. He had a unique way of making a stranger feel welcomed within minutes of meeting him for the first time.
Robert was smart; he loved talking about politics, current events, history and especially issues within the black community. Robert loved his culture.
Robert carried his Christian roots with him throughout his life, which was instilled by his grandmother, the late Bishop Ophrie Crawford. He loved gospel music and often, without reason, would belt out a hymn. He always knew and loved the Lord.
Most of all Robert loved his family and had a close bond with his mother. On his last days at the hospital, Robert made sure his siblings and parents were okay before he departed; he searched for assurance in our faces. Robert loved everyone and he was very happy with the love he was shown on his last days at the hospital by all his friends and extended family.
Robert’s last words to his mother were, “Ma, are you good?” Her response was, “I’m good if you’re good, we’re good together.” He told her to go home because she was tired and needed to rest. With that confirmation, he shortly afterwards closed his eyes and peacefully slipped away; to go to his Lord.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Crawford and Lula Nedd; six siblings, Stephanie, Selina (Ron), Daiselle Renee, David (Diana), Roslyn, and Richard; eight nieces, Shauntrece, Regina, Jalissa, Allyssa, Taliyah, Sakari, Samira, and Allexa; one nephew, Elijah; three great nieces; two great nephews; three aunts; Daisy McDougal, Elizabeth Crawford, and Barbara Charles; one uncle, Jimmy Crawford; and a host of loving cousins and friends; two very special childhood friends, Damon Wayans and John Bailey.
Lovingly Submitted, The Family
