After firing some of Grey Sloan's best, Catherine continues to interfere with Meredith and Amelia's research. Accidents at a climate change protest bring unique cases to the hospital, and Bailey encounters a blast from the past.

Airing 9/26/24.

So Ben quit being a firefighter and he's going back to doctoring?

Um, I think this guy's finger is the least of his problems...Why is Link acting like it's Lucas's fault it wasn't found in time?

"Odd things often happen here." Well, that's the understatement of the century.

A boring season premiere—the crash victim had potential yet was executed so blandly— but it had some moments of interest.

Namely, the kiss between Jules and Yasuda. I don’t see how that doesn’t end in heartbreak, since one of the actresses is leaving but I do think they’re cute. And have chemistry. Wish the show had taken advantage of their potential earlier, but even with a deadline I’m still interested in seeing where things go. Peak Greys used to thrive on intricate and fun relationship maneuvering and while it’s likely that they’ll go with something obvious and done given the state of Greys now (formulaic, routine) I’m assuming some sneaking around will probably come into play. Either way, a romantic connection between two female leads (who actually have chemistry and a prior genuine friendship) on a big primetime show is great.

I also liked the kiss between Simone—hopefully once they get together they stop writing her like a love interest and bring back the smart and ambitious character she was introduced as—and Lucas, though I think he needs to do a lot more to win her over. He was a miserable asshole to everyone last season, especially her. I’d like to see him to drop the entitled brat act and get some sense because he’s pretty likeable when he isn’t drowning in self pity and attitude. Would also like for the writers to revisit his ADHD. Before they all but dropped it, I felt it was one of the more interesting storylines.

Not interesting, are Jo and Link. Even Sydney was better and she’s never been a favourite of mine. I’d like to see her and Bailey at least become friendly while Bailey (& now Ben?) works at coming back but the writers seem to be going the tension route. Back to the dullards: Don’t care about their boring relationship and the baby makes it even more of a snooze. They barely feature the kids they do have (which I’m thankful for) and I don’t care to see another. They’re a black hole of charisma and can go and take Teddy and Owen (who I didn’t miss) with them.

Catherine can also go because as well as the actress handles the material, I’m tired of the cartoonish, villainous writing. I doubt they’ll kill her off but one can hope.

Since they arrived, I’ve preferred the interns stories to the older staff, and so far, this season is no different.

I think in the last season of Station 19, he was having health issues that made it so he couldn't continue as a firefighter?

Can someone remind me of how Bailey can still work at the clinic, while being fired from the hospital?

When Link reminded Glasses he already had a kid, I'll admit I had completely forgotten said child existed.  I was curious who was watching said child with Amelia with Meredith and Link at the hospital.  I guess it must be the 24 hour a day Grey-Sloan daycare.

The worst moment of the episode was Bailey's slap only being a dream.

I thought Ellen Pompeo was leaving?  Is she only here for a few more episodes?

I, too, was bored.  None of the interns interested me, I don't like Link and Jo together, and I can't really follow yet what Meredith and Amelia are doing.  I didn't miss Teddy though, that's for sure.  I'm indifferent towards Owen.  Nice to see Jackson!

Can someone please remind me what the meeting with the interns and Catherine was all about?  Lucas was deciding on staying or going to Chicago, but why?

She only does a few episodes per season now.  She isn't leaving the show.

Because it is an unwritten rule in the hospital that the interns that work there are always treated like piles of shit and yelled at and blamed for anything. Seriously if I was wanting to become a doctor and I saw how the show treated interns I would definitely change my career path with how all the attending doctors treat them.

Yes, since Station 19 was ending, the writers had him quit to finish his residency. The showrunner said that they only did that because the show was cancelled, he would have stayed a firefighter if Station 19 was renewed.

But seems dumb that Ben quit before he'd secured a new residency.

At the end of the season before last, the interns were operating when Teddy passed out and Simone/Lucas kept going with no attending. The patient died and Lucas was blamed. Lawyers were involved and it dragged out most of last season, but it was ultimately up to Catherine to decide if he was going to be fired or not. For some reason, the other interns all threatened to quit if Lucas was let go, even though he had a better job offer in place.

I thought it was a pretty good episode.  I like having Ben back on the show.  I always liked him.  I very much dislike Catherine, but she and Meredith at least had a decent talk.    Nice to see Jackson again.  I have to stand up for Winston, even though it's mainly because I think he's so good looking.  Please get Simone a haircut.  And I do like Jo and Link together.  He's the sweetest guy ever, and she deserves him after what Alex did to her.

I didn't mind this episode, it was actually decent for a change, however, colour me confused about the last few minutes.  When did Catherine and Meredith make those  decisions? Did I miss something or was it all assumed?
