Synopsis:

Quote

Under the Bridge is based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year old Reena Virk (Gupta) who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Through the eyes of Godfrey (Keough) and a local police officer (Gladstone), the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder - revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.

The eight-episode series dives into the murder of Reena Virk in 1997 as documented in Rebecca Godfrey’s Under the Bridge: The True Story of the Murder of Reena Virk, published in 2005.

Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone were handpicked by book author and series producer Rebecca Godfrey for their roles before her death from cancer in 2022.

Quinn Shephard adapted Godfrey’s book and serves as an executive producer. Additional executive producers include Keough, Gina Gammell, Samir Mehta, Liz Tigelaar, Stacey Silverman, Shephard, Tara Duncan, and author Godfrey (posthumously).

Geeta Patel directs and executive produces.

Performer of the Week: HONORABLE MENTION - Archie Panjabi

Quote

Hulu’s Under the Bridge brought its central true-crime case to an emotional close in Wednesday’s finale, and no scene was more affecting than Archie Panjabi‘s Suman confronting Warren Glowatski, one of the teens responsible for murdering Suman’s daughter. Panjabi wore her character’s grief like a tangible weight around her shoulders throughout the conversation, communicating bitter sadness with every facial expression and pained line reading. But it was when Suman offered Warren her forgiveness that Panjabi did her most devastating work, her sobs revealing how crushing it was to show Warren mercy, even when her faith dictated she must. “It’s the only way out of all of this,” Suman cried, and Panjabi implored us to feel every ounce of heartbreak that accompanied her words.
