Truly tragic.  I've lost a very close family member in that way, and it's something I still have a hard time with, and it's been over 40 years.

We never know what people are dealing with personally. This is devastating news. None of us has ever met this family, yet we are stunned and saddened by this news. Thanks TWoP'ers for your empathy.

This is beyond heartbreaking and devastating. How my heart aches for Janelle, his siblings and family. I hold his father responsible to some degree …he refused to reach out to his boys after he didn’t like their response to his covid protocols. I am not judging his covid protocols but to say there is no bridge to reconciliation and blame his boys…Janelle talked about how difficult it was for them and she was very concerned about them. Kody was cruel.

My son crossed (accident) when he was 24…this is not something a parent ever fully recovers from because it changes life as know it forever. Someday they will be able to find joy again, but it is truly a journey and day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. 

I pray people will be kind ….respect their privacy and only offer kindness. 🙏🏻💔🙏🏻

If you mean what was the cause of death, that has been confirmed.  If you mean the deeper "what happened", that is, the underlying reason, I doubt we strangers will ever know.  Nor are we entitled to.

There are no words just I’m very sorry. He fostered kitties and that’s a kind soul to do that. He must have been so full of anguish. I’m so sorry. Their family will never be the same. Poor Janelle.

I just saw this. How tragic. Poor Janelle, and his siblings. I lost a brother to suicide almost 11 years ago, so I understand how they are feeling. Except I had the benefit of not being in a fishbowl. 
He seemed like a gentle, kind soul. Rest in peace Garrison.

This is so sad and tragic.   I just lost my brother to suicide in May at 54 and it’s still very raw.  It will never go away for Janelle, Kody or any family members.   😢

So now comes the soul searching. Was it related to Kootie and his indifference/downright dislike of his sons?  Would it have happened if every piece of their lives had not been televised and rehashed on social media?  Will Janelle second guess herself about not leaving that sham of a marriage sooner than she did?  With a suicide there is always the need for something or someone to blame.

Hello - not sure if this is ok to post here, but I was so sad reading about Garrison and I know he loves cats and just rescued one.

Someone on a post suggested that maybe if people felt like they wanted to do something they could donate to an animal shelter in honor of Garrison. I found that my local shelter where I adopted my cat had a amazon and chewy wish list, so I donated some items from that for the shelter. 

My prayers and wishes are with the family - how utterly devastating.

Such an unfathomable tragedy. 😪  I sincerely hope that this can bring them back together to some degree. Definitely not as an active polygamists family, but back into contact with each other where they remember what is important, and what isn't.  We all lose sight of that sometimes, it's human nature to get caught up in the day-to-day.  Kody has talked about losing his faith, and maybe this will bring him back to it (not what he had before, but into a relationship with God).  Please let something good come out of the ashes of this nightmare they are experiencing. 

I do not wish this horror on anyone, even Kody, and I'm sure nobody else does either. Please let this be a wake up call for him to reach out and reconnect with his other kids. For everybody's sake. 

I can't stop imagining what is going on with them all this very second, and it makes me so incredibly sad.

Yes, the 'what-if's' can consume people. And it's just something that can never be fully known, even if some parts seem obvious.  Death is hard enough, but suicide brings a completely new level of anguish. At the very least, I hope it doesn't fracture the main part of the family that has remained together.  You are right people often need someone to blame, because anger is easier to handle than grief for some people.

The guilt one feels is raw.  Feeling like, "I could have done something" is something that really never goes away.

It's such a painful loss.  I wish Garrison's large and loving family, peace.

His love of animals was so sweet.  Donating to shelters is a lovely way to honor Garrison.

Oh this is horrible, my heart breaks for Gabe.  From People:

Flagstaff Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE: "On 03/05/2024 Flagstaff Police officers responded to a report of a death inside a home." The FPD confirmed that Garrison's brother Gabriel, 22, "discovered Mr. Brown deceased" in an apparent suicide.

From DailyMail:

Garrison had an Instagram account under the handle @robertthebrown, with more than 67,000 followers.

His most recent post came on Friday, as he posed alongside a cat he had adopted, which was his third overall.

'Newest edition to my home, Ms Buttons,' Garrison said. 'She’s 9 years old and was on the line for euthanasia but my savior complex couldn’t suffice. #crazycatlady.'

He was a great guy.

So sorry to heat this shocking news!  RIP sweet Garrison! I do hope Gabe is able to get some counseling. To be the one to find his brother is heartbreaking.  

My condolences to all of the family. I hope somehow they can put aside all the differences and are able to join together and grieve together for the loss of this beautiful soul.

I also think donating to a shelter in his name is a lovely way to honor his memory.

As someone  who lost a 31 year old son suddenly last year, I have a clue what Janelle is going through. My son’s death was due to a medical condition and I still feel like there should have been something we should have  done. I can’t imagine how one feels IF it’s due to suicide. I say IF because the article says apparent suicide not definite.  
 

I don’t think I can imagine  how Kody feels.  He’s been estranged from his kids for quite some time and now it’s too late to mend fences with Gabe.  If it was suicide and if the estrangement was a factor, he might have lost his other OG kids forever.  
What a tragic loss of a person that appeared to have his act together. It shows we can never know what’s happening inside a person.  Be kind to people.

Me too. How horrid for Janelle, I cannot imagine the pain she must feel. I know his other siblings are grieving deeply as well, but Gabe was such a sensitive soul and they were so close. I do hope they can find comfort in each other during this time. 
 

It’s an awful tragedy and while nothing can bring Garrison back, I do hope if anyone else out there is struggling they know they aren’t alone. And Kody doesn’t miss out on trying to make amends to his living children for all the wrong he has done. Tomorrow isnt promised.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I know when someone dies by suicide (if that’s what happened) loved ones often carry so much guilt- although of course it’s not their fault. I wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone.

I don't have the heart to check, but it seems to me that either Kody or Janelle said in one of the post-season episodes that Kody and Garrison had reestablished contact.

I have a laundry list of criticisms of Kody Brown, but I do think he loves his children as much as he is capable of. I hope for his sake, and really for the sake of the whole family, that was true and that it remained true.

I wouldn't want my worst enemy to live with the guilt and regret Kody will have, even if he and Garrison had begun to mend fences, never mind if they hadn't. I hope that, to the extent he is still at odds with any of his children, than he mans up, swallows his pride, and makes amends.

My God, what a sad situation. (I keep tearing up, which seems ridiculous, but it is what it is.)
