I’m with you on everything.  No Katherine, no Cameron, can’t stand Venita, Austin..  I rather watch all the reruns with the whole original gang.  Katherine better get her life together.  She lost her kids?  Bummer.  Hope the one from California never comes back.  The lunatic.  What about Naomi?  Back?

Craig is mean, and arrogant. Paige is boring, but she is not a main cast member. I can't stand Madison and Austin (and their voices). I don't care about any of the newer people. I'm glad Kathryn was fired.

Naomie won't be on S9. It was obvious she didn't fit in last season because all her friends left the show, and Craig was hostile toward her.

A Madison-focused episode is not the way to go for the premiere. Besides the fact she's terrible, she has no authentic relationship with anyone on the show.

This show really suffers without Cameran and Naomie. The guys on the show respected them (exception being Craig towards Naomie, obvi) without thinking they might be able to sleep with them. The environment is incredibly misogynistic and they gave the show a little balance.

It USED to be one of my favorites, too.  I still like looking at Charleston because it's sooo gorgeous but I don't give a rip about any of these people.

I think Little Craig is still a cutie pie and hope he lives a long life.

Well, I’m with you all that this show has not been the same since T-Rav was booted, buuuuut, I’ll be the first (only??) one to admit that I actually liked this episode and feel cautiously optimistic about this season. I got a kick out of Austen and Shep in a sheer panic thinking about how they were going to face their exes. And Austen’s very failed attempt at being a “cool and casual normal human being” trying to talk to Madison and her husband cracked me up. Then it just got better when I realized Taylor is going to let Shep—and everyone who has ever had his back—totally have it each and every time she sees them. It was also funny that Craig wanted to get a drink to get close to Shep and Taylor and was seen holding a completely full beer glass saying, “Need a drink? Need a drink?” because he needed anyone with an empty glass as an excuse to go to the bar. The preview rumors/fallout about Austen and Taylor possibly hooking up was maybe trying to grab the coattails of Scandoval, and I don’t think this show is going to have a VDPR level turnaround. But I was entertained enough—more than I have been in the last handful of seasons. At least we aren’t subjected to Naomi and Whitney’s very poor play-acting of a relationship. I made it through that and came back for more.

Why isn't her husband trying to find a job in Charleston? Or does the couple live in California when Madison is not filming?

Craig's beard doesn't cover the facial bloating. He was 33 when filming started (34 now). He looks worse than Shep who is a lot older.

Taylor, and Olivia were never single before? 

Shep nailed it. He said "I'm a child anyway".

Does anyone know when this was filmed? Some of them were dressed for winter, some for spring—so I guess fall. I thought I saw a Christmas tree light display on the water where Taylor and Olivia were skating. Everyone was acting like they hadn’t seen/spoken for a “whole year.” But Olivia gave us a timeline that the reunion/when they got back together was Sept 25, 2022 and Austen re-dumped her by Nov 1. And the Christmas tree thing seems like this was probably Thanksgivingish?? So was filming just picked up like a month later after the reunion was filmed? Was Shep just away for weeks, not several months? If that’s the case, then I kind of understand why Taylor was just as amped up as she was just a few weeks prior and has more to scream at everyone. But the fact that the season is a year apart made it seem like that was “last year” so why are you still so raw? Then again, Austen’s flashbacks with Madison went back years, too—and he’s still very heartbroken over her. It was kind of ridiculous when Olivia tried to jump in there as the “scorned woman” and you’re like, girl, do you not see him having a panic attack over Madison getting married? Filming for S9 ended in March 2023. It normally lasts for a couple of months, or so. Shep said he was away in Australia and South Africa for months, and he was. In the past filming started in the fall. Last season the season finale was around Christmas.

I just remembered one other establishing date: starting with the Austen-Taylor hook-up scandal and then flashing back to start the season “two months earlier.” I looked up when that news broke and it was March 8 (on the first article I saw), so that puts filming starting around the beginning of January. That makes sense for the Christmas display. They had a Friendsgiving last season (the season before? I can’t keep track!) and years back I remember this show always starting filming in September because we had a big joke about T-Rav always wearing white pants—and after Labor Day! 😆 So I guess this filming just got pushed out later than usual. I wonder whether it was on the chopping block—or maybe they just filmed a different show in its usual timeframe? Actually, RHNY had a “Brynnsgiving” so maybe they shared a crew. So, to bring it back to this episode… This was ~2 months after filming the reunion and presumably the fist time Taylor has seen/spoken to Shep or Craig—so she still had a lot of pent-up vitriol. It sounds like Austen is the only guy who checked in on her during these two months.

I thought this was the best episode in a long time. The last couple of seasons have been a real snooze fest. 
 

Shep’s a mess but I feel like maybe he’s starting to have tiny moments of actually grappling with his childish behavior. He seemed genuinely concerned with how to approach Taylor and kept relatively calm (for him 😂) when she started losing her mind screaming about all the times he cheated on her. He’s an idiot for thinking they can be friends but he’s consistent at least.
 

It’s unfortunate for Taylor that she is only now learning that generally speaking, the friends of your ex are his friends first. You could tell Craig was trying not to say it so bluntly but her outburst really pushed him into basically saying “I tried to look out for you but he’s my friend, not you.” Ouch. Also I fully believe Craig trying to stop Shep from drunkenly kissing some girl in a bar was motivated more by wanting to stop his friend from doing something that would blow up his life than from specifically trying to look out for Taylor. 
 

Every time I see Austen and Madison in the same room I am left wondering if they had some sort of electric sexual chemistry because they barely seem to have ever liked each other as people - even when they were together!

With an admittedly low bar, I found this episode entirely entertaining. That might be because, in my younger years, I had to navigate a cordial friendship with ex since we shared the same friend group.  Pleased to say I handled it way better than Taylor...

Cringe, so much secondary embarrassment watching her. It's one thing to be upset but to repeatedly carry on like she does. Hoping some of that is for the cameras. Craig tried multiple times to diplomatically tell her what's what. She just wasn't hearing it. Again, cringe.

Madison both bores and annoys me. She's just so smug. Leva is much the same.  The orange was quite striking on Venita but the flashbacks reminded me how much she irritated me in the past.

Shep's two tone sunglasses were annoying me. They looked like the freebie pair I got from some bar promotion that I keep in my car. His plaid jacket/coat was hideous too.

It was cute how Craig was trying to schedule play dates for Paige in Charleston. I know I'm in the minority but I adore them together.

Yes, filming started in the fall before this season. I also wonder if Bravo initially considered canceling the show.

This! She disgusted me at the Reunion last year with her rage but it is even more unattractive now that some time has passed and she SHOULD be moving on. She fell in love with a guy everyone knew was not a "settling down" kind of guy. Now she is angry that she couldn't work a miracle. Is this her first ever break up? She gave up a job to travel with Peter Pan. She should just focus on moving on. Bitter, party of one. Very unappealing to watch.

They must have. It completely jumped the shark last season  with the Dog Wedding. It that's all you've got for an episode, it's time to call it a day. She will OnlyFans herself into oblivion. May graduate into porn. Probably has a few rehabs in her future. Her children will have holes in their hearts where their mother used to be, while likely bearing headlong into their own addictions/psychoses. It's a tough cycle to break, even with vast re$ource$. We've known that these children were doomed from the moment the sperm breached those eggs.

I don't say these things with any satisfaction, believe me. It's assumption based on a lifetime of observation.

When Taylor was quiet and soft spoken and in the background, it was so easy to think the best of her.  Now that she's opened her mouth and moved into the forefront....yuck.  Messy, messy.  Although, I did always wonder what a sweet, innocent, Jesusy girl was doing with Shep.  Obviously, all of those things are just some kind of smoke screen she throws up. 

When SC started, Shep really did have some kind of twinkle about him.  People liked him.  He had charisma.  He's just like some stale old toast floating around now.  His twinkle is long gone.

If Bravo wasn't in the picture, Paige wouldn't be either.  Sorry Craig.  I haven't heard any rumors of her cheating on him though.  What was that bomb Taylor tried to drop?

Olivia and Austen were never a thing!!  Why are we still beating that dead horse?!

Madison would invite Austen to her wedding party?  Sure, Jan.

At least Venita and Leva were limited in their appearances.  Let's keep it that way moving forward.

All of the men's outfits were just bizarre.  They looked like they should be in Maine in the middle of winter.  Were they not getting hot?  Were they contractually required to wear the coats the whole time because they were gifted them by that strange shop owner?  And the girls were all dressed like it was mid-summer and didn't look cold at all.  Taylor's hair was also bizarre with that starange green ponytail holder.

How many kids does Madison have (I've only watched the show a handful of times).  How does she go on a monthlong honeymoon with a kid(s) at home?

I debated whether or not to watch this season, but finally gave in out of curiosity, and surprisingly, I didn't hate it!  I miss the old cast, but this already seems more palatable than last season.

A few petty observations, though:

What was up with the blatant white eyeshadow in the corners of Taylor's eyes while roller skating?  Too jarring.

What's up with Patricia's blonde streaks?  Same.

Madison's party dress was cute and pretty, but the skirt belled out like a lampshade and looked weird - I don't think the fabric was flexible enough.

Still cannot stand Paige.  Too obnoxious.

Bummed that Leva's still around.  Too boring and abrasive.  And why was she holding a vase of white roses during Austen's toast??

Why did Shep, Austen, and Craig show up to the party house in a limo??

Why did Austen feel downright entitled to know what Olivia was doing at Christmas and get pissy that she didn't tell him she was in Sedona at the time??  And the whole being mad that Craig was talking to Olivia when HE wanted to talk to Craig?? That was ridiculous. What a whiner.

I've actually always liked Venita, and I think the friendship between Olivia and Taylor is sweet.  But Taylor definitely does need to grow up quite a bit yet.

All in all, I'm more intrigued than I expected to be.

Taylor was obv drunk towards the end when she was railing her misplaced anger on Craig. That was some obvious drunk whining.

It's such a huge flashing sign (or red flag) that guys like Austen, Shep and Craig hang on to this show for dear life because they will fade into irrelevance if they do, while women like Cameran, Naomie and Chelsea have moved on.

Austen, is it really life's wonder why a woman won't stick with you? Maybe if you don't stick your dick in every walking stick figure in a skirt within your eyesight, you'll have a shot at a decent relationship. You're a hoe, Austen, and that's why women won't put up with you. It's that simple.

Yeah they're trying to have their own VPR type of scandal, as some of us guessed that they might.

But at the end, they suggest Taylor sleeps with Shep again.

There is no reason to have Taylor or Olivia on the show except to cause drama with their exes.

They're attractive women and Olivia has some snark in her comparing being disappointed by the men on this show with going to some fun house and finding it cheesy and creepy inside.

So they're going to encourage Taylor to have melt downs.

And there was one short scene of Taylor presenting Madison with a giant blue vibrator as a wedding gift, right in front of her new husband.  Then Bravo decided to incorporate "vibrators" into the episode title.

Then Madison cracking about the girl from the nice christian family giving such a gift, WWJD.

The awkward scenes with Austen and Shep were entertaining.  But Craig was just rude, told Shep to tell Taylor to fuck off since they're not together any more.

Anyways why would it be scandalous if Taylor fucks Austen?  Shep and Taylor are no longer together and it's a good shot at trying to hurt Shep.

She could try to fuck with their bro code.

SC is suppose to be classy though, not resorting to some recycled porn plot.  Well that ship sailed a long time ago.

I didn't hate this episode.  I don't have high hopes for the season since I disilike/don't care for Madison, Venita and Leva.  ZZZZzzzz.....but the previews look somewhat promising.

Taylor - not a good look, hon. At all.

Craig - I'm not feeling the chemistry, either, between him and Paige.  He's gotten quite full of himself which is a shame because I used to adore him.

Olivia - I like her better than the other females. I think.

Shep - (***whispers **** I still like Shep).  He's a buffoon but he knows it.

I believe she just has the one son. As to the month long honeymoon, I think Hudson's father does live nearby. Also, I think there was one episode in which her mom and sister appeared. So, I assume they are nearby to help.

It was charming when it was young, single people doing foolish things. But when it's a 40+ year old, bloated Shep, who's still grabbing women in restaurants to forcibly kiss them when they're drunk, it's freaking creepy.

Madison's guy is handsome but looks uncomfortable in front of the camera. He probably loves his life in California working as a firefighter and has not intention of moving to Charleston permanently. I hope they can work it out. Same goes for Craig and Paige. Damn, she never gives Craig a break. With anything. In that respect she kind of reminds me of Naomi. What a sourpuss.

I agree-very odd fashion choices for all of them.

I was especially confused about Leva's fur jacket and why she kept it buttoned up to the neck, while the other women were wearing more summery dresses and outfits.  

And, on another note, I wondered more about Leva's fur jacket because it is identical to one I had in the early 1980's - mine was a silver fox "corduroy cut" jacket.  I wonder if she picked hers up at a vintage shop on King Street.  Hasn't anyone let Leva know that wearing genuine fur is really not a thing these days?  

I was more intrigued by the jacket than I was by the wearer.

I really miss Cameron, but Naomie can stay gone.  In my opinion, she was a spoiled, snooty, snotty, whiney person.

I would prefer to see Cameron and Chelsea back on the show.  They were my favorites.

That might explain how they afforded a 1-month international vacation to those locales.  Singapore isn't cheap.

Didn't they say last season or the season before, her fiancee was Mormon and his family didn't want them to have sex?  They were ribbing her for that, I seem to recall.

I was actually surprised by that. I thought I remembered something Madison said he's in real estate or something.

The 8 days "off" is probably when he does paperwork, so that's why he can stay in Charleston. I would think all paperwork can be done remotely by now.

I stand by what I said on my first impression with Olivia - she tried to make it as an actress/model while she was living in Los Angeles, and couldn't hack it, due to the immense competition. So she "moved back" to her parents' "house" in Charleston to be in a decently popular "reality" show in Bravo. Way easier to be able to get into a show set in a smaller town, rather than do all those auditions and casting calls in LA.

Is it any coincidence her parents have "moved" to Houston, now that she's settled her role firmly in the show?

Yeah so she will have a party at her parents home and that will occupy one episode.

People will show up in chauffeured cars so that they can be shot arriving separately.

Probably mess up parking on the street that the house is on.

As soon as I realized this asshole was gonna be on this season, I knew it would be a no-go for me, but I was shocked by how Madison-centric this was.   

Bravo continues to be more out of touch with what their viewers enjoyed about these shows.   The new Assholepalooza approach just doesn’t cut it.
