🤣The psycho bitch should be. Brady and Kristen will never not be gross

So, the Orchid Ladies are now dropping like flies. Kate’s last words were telling Rex she loved him.

Kayla also dropped quickly.

Alex, one does not ignore a phone on behalf of someone else. Chad works with Stephanie and you had no idea that he genuinely had to tell her about a real emergency.

Aww, Rachel came back, not a scratch and in excellent condition. John was right about Kristen being obsessed with Brady. I am guessing that since Orpheus was mentioned, that he or his henchpeople most likely took that plant as a bargaining chip to get out of jail.

But the problem is, since this is Days, rather than generating any real emotion the feeling is really just "Yawn, another death in Salem.  How long before they miraculously come back from the dead?"  Every death in Salem is pretty much like watching someone stub their toe - no real consequences.

I thought Kate's death was very affecting and very sad.  I'm also one of those people who likes Kyle Lowder in the role of Rex, so sue me.

But we all know the ladies will be popping up, alive, like Pillsbury cinnamon cadaver buns, 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

The most horrific thing to happen on Friday's show was Stephanie having to go to bed with that genetic mutated G.I.Joe of a human being, the only man on Earth without an ass, OllieBenAlex.

A fate worse than death.

Agree Kate will come back from the dead thanks to Dr. Rolf. He'll save her as some sort of loyalty to Stefano because she was once married to his boss.

Well, given that she kidnapped EJ who is somewhere in his mid-40's to pass him off as her baby, she has to be in her early 70's at the youngest.

Dr. Rolf is around. These deaths just seem to be a plot point instead of anything to do with the actual characters. I have no investment.

This. Once James E. Reilly turned this show into a live-action cartoon and Ron Carlivati doubled down, there is literally no reason to feel anything except boredom or morbid humor, wondering how Character X or Y will climb out of their grave.

It could be worse. Zach could come down from heaven to spend a few weeks as a live person to learn about love and falls madly in love with Chanel. (I always appreciated that they never tried to undo his death.)

...poor Zach would just end up just having to talk about how great Ben is, and hang out with Alex 24/7, saying how he wishes he could be half the man he is. And then, to spice things up, he'd either start setting shit on fire or wearing wigs and calling himself by another name to distract from how truly awful other characters are, and end up at Bayview apologizing to everybody, while Gwen, Leo, Ben, Clyde, Kristen, EJ and Ava cast judgemental looks his way.

Yeah. You're better off in heaven, kid.

I like Kyle Lowder as Rex, yet would rather have him in his OG role as Brady Black. Didn’t like him as Brady when he came on the show, ONLY because he was f’ing with Philip. New(not so new) Brady is a sappy chump.
Yeppers, the ladies are not going anywhere, another SalemRection!
Too bad they couldn’t let Philip talk with his mom too. 😢😡

💯% on the BenAlex fuckwad.

I’m so very offended they dared make him a Kiriakis!!🤬🤬🤬😤

No tears from me but the vets showed up and did their job. My black, cold heart did d feel for Steve when Sweetness passed. Nice to tell Tripp that she considered him to be her son.

Orpheus came across as a bit cartoon-like. Too bad he wasn’t twirling the orchid. Ah, tempting Lucas with whisky as a bereavement gift.

Sweet to see Chad treat Kate as his sort of mom.

Stephanie should be embarrassed that her phone was off and that her employee found her in bed with her uh, date? Wonder if she will rip into Alex?

This is Days and plenty of time for Dr. Rolf to bring them back or that the toxin just causes a deathly stasis like state for X hours. The show would not kill off 3 vets.

I ffd the Alex and Stephanie scenes.

I ff'd them too.  Luckily, the rest of the show was pretty good.

OllieBenAlex looked sort of lumpish in that bed, sorta like a G.I. Joe doll made out of Play Do and then squished all together.  It might be better if he kept his clothes ON.  And his mouth shut.  And all of his scenes filmed in the dark.

Just a thought!

The Kate, Kayla and Marlena scenes were all terrific.  Orpheus, at least for me, not so much.  As an old white man myself, let me say that I find pompous, longwinded, over the hill old white men in hoodies like Orpheus very tiring.  I'm usually behind one in the 15 items or less line at Safeway and they always have to complain to the poor clerks about the price/quality/weather/whatever the hell as if anyone wants to hear it.

Shut it, Orpheus, you're done, over and out.

Another episode I really liked.

I enjoyed Eric snapping and pulling the gun on Kristen. I actually thought that felt more real than Eric's other "out of control" behavior as of late. Kristen really should be the person Eric hates most on earth especially since she either escapes retribution or she doesn't have to suffer it for very long. While I'm not the biggest fan of SH's acting as of late, I do think she did a great balance of making Kristen fearful of her life but in a way that still makes Kristen a credible villain.

I loved almost all the interactions on today's episode. The only weak spot for me was Johnny. Also EJ, but EJ is always a weak spot for me, but I did kinda like his scenes with Nicole.

I also thought AZ did a really good job of her reaction to Kate and Kayla's death. At first I was confused why she would care, but I liked how either she and the dialogue connected it to Eric and her feelings for Eric. It felt real to Nicole's lack of a relationship with Kayla and more antagonistic relationship with Kate while still being respectful of their deaths.

I like that RC has given Chloe some fire back. I loved seeing her going off on Li in the town square, and I liked that she's so hesitant about Stefan. I liked that the show really allowed her to explore her devastation and loneliness after the Brady breakup. It felt true to her character but in a way that didn't diminish her and make her seem foolish.

I liked Gabi/Li. I actually don't know if I agree that Li loves Gabi. I sadly don't think we got enough of them together without Li's scheming in the background for me to feel the love. I actually kinda feel Li is one of those characters that I hope is shipped off after this storyline. Gabi/Li is a nonstarter. The actor - while entertaining - isn't strong enough to be a consistent villain, and we already have too many villains. I don't think Wendy is enough to keep the character around even if I do enjoy his so bad it's good acting style.

From yesterday's episode, I wish the Alex/Steph/Chad portion of the show was stronger. I actually loved the set up and climax yesterday with Alex unknowingly preventing Steph from getting to Kayla in time to see her mom in her final moments. If the actors were stronger, the chemistry better, and the writing engaging, that could have been such a classically soapy moment. Even with my many reservations, I actually still loved it. Unfortunately, I just don't think the Stephanie actress is strong enough to go anywhere interesting with the material, the Alex actor is RSW whose main job is to look good without a shirt and BF/Chad has been giving inconsistent performances for years. This is one of the few times that I think the writing is giving the actors better material than they can handle.

I enjoyed today’s ep. Nicole and EJ work well as friends and he could understand how Nicole could be respectful of the two deaths and still want to check on her ex, Eric, especially about his mom.

Li just seems to want power and a beautiful wife, hence Gabi.

Nicole and Chloe had a nice visit. Too bad Brady knocked on the door as she was going to tell her about Kate and Kayla dying from the toxin. At least Brady is now being honest.

The DiMeras must have an endless supply of guest rooms now that Kristen is moving back.

Guess someone is going to get in touch with Dr. Rolf to make more of the cure.

Yeah, it provided GREAT angst for Mason/Julia, but the aftermath where Chip was concerned fizzled to nothing.

THAT part sounds just like the writing on current Days!

I'm concerned about liking this show too much because I know they can't keep up this level of engaging storytelling.

Another good episode. I'm happy to be a broken record this week.

Brady/EM has really surprised me with his work in this storyline. The scenes with Chloe and the closing line from Brady honestly made me tear up. I was pleasantly surprised the show didn't have Chloe just return to Brady. I honestly thought with the lies revealed that they would reunite and just blame Kristen's evil. I'm happy Chloe is holding Brady accountable for his actions - even if under duress - because her pain was real. Lastly, I was thrilled the show didn't sex shame Chloe for sleeping with Stefan. I was prepared for Brady to call her names and say it was a betrayal. Instead, it informed her of his pain at the news and stated they were broken up and he hopes to continue to move forward with her. These were all quite satisfying surprises.

I was equally impressed with Nicole/Eric. The level of vitriol between the two was perfect. It was bad enough that it felt real but still controlled enough that neither did or said anything that was unforgiveable. I realized that Eric has really gotten around this year sleeping with three women in a matter of months. I liked how the show is using Jada's abortion for these two. This is such a sensitive issues, especially now, but I do think the show has consistently struck the right balance. I understand why both are in pain, why both blame each other, and I like that Jada's decision is never vilified even if the decision has consequences for Eric/Nicole.

I didn't care for Stefan/Gabi as much. I put more of that on BB than CB. BB/Stefan didn't seem as committed, and he didn't seem like his usual Stefan self around Gabi. Stefan has a lot more fire around Gabi, and this Stefan felt more like Jake. I also don't know if I found the emotional core of their scenes. Broe was about pleading/anguish/regret and Ericole about anger/hope/frustration/buried resentments. The brainwashing plot just feels like its missing something from BB/Stefan. And even though Stefan said he wasn't trying to be cruel; there was a tremendous amount of cruelty to telling Gabi he didn't feel liked he loved her in his guts/bones, whatever he said. It also doesn't match what we saw with him fighting the brainwashing and his love for her coming through. I'm not saying the scenes were bad, but they didn't compare to Broe/Ericole. IMO, of course.

After that, I liked Wendy as usual.

Johnny and E.J. still are weak links.

I was just a kid when I watched all this unfold on Santa Barbara, so I don’t recall all the deets, but I loved, loved, loved Mason and Julia and their slow burn/antagonistic romance. Even from my child perch, I could sense the palpable chemistry between the two actors (and was soooo verklempt when they were on General Hospital) and more importantly, Mason had so much respect for Julia as a fellow professional (both were attorneys). One of my very first OTPs.

Nancy Lee Grahn and Lane Davies did smolder.

If I was Chloe, I just wouldn’t immediately return to Brady. His actions hurt her, she did not see any getting back together, and she moved on to someone else who was happy to see her, treated her well, etc. Brady had no need to shame her for being with Stefan. Easier to blame Kristen.

I also enjoyed Nicole and Eric. At first the regular gossipy stuff, telling him Sloan was a bad idea, etc. and then her finally being exasperated that he blames her for Jada’s decision to terminate her pregnancy. Nicole was right. If someone does want to have a baby, no talk of how hard life will be, how to juggle a job, having little support, etc. will stop her. Jada and Eric were still strangers.

Of course, Dr. Rolf vanished.

Li was quite childish when he went to visit Wendy. Why Johnny didn’t escort him out was strange. And Gabi, Stefan may or not remember you.

I wonder if Eric is really  angry with Jada for having an abortion and Nicole is just a convenient scapegoat because she inserted herself in his private business. It would be an interesting angle to explore Eric's anger over the abortion. It would make sense for Eric to be anti-abortion given that he was a Catholic priest once upon a time..

I'm not as high on this episode as I've been on previous episodes. It was still good, but it still feels like it went down a few notches.

The biggest issue for me is that I don't care about Kayla and Kate as characters, so I'm not interested in seeing people grieve them. Personal issue, I know, but there it is. I also don't like how people are talking about Kayla. "Kind" "gentle" "there for others" maybe Kayla of the 1980s and during her first return. But the Kayla of the last few years as been rude, surly, unpleasant, and easily annoyed by even simple requests.

I also had some issues with the character combinations this episode. I think they all made sense, except Chad/Steph, but I still struggled with them. I don't care about Rex/Lucas as siblings. Alex/Sonny were okay, but they both talked about Kayla like some stranger. I guess they have to for Alex/Steph to not be weird. JT/Roman has never been a strong actor and that didn't change today. I know it's no fault of the show, but it seems peculiar that we don't get a Victor response to Kate's death. An Allie/Roman scene, though not wanted from me, still seems like it would be an important scene to show in today's episode. That seems more important than Roman/Paulina.

I liked seeing Jada/Steve together, but I don't really think the actors work well together. I understand that Jada's father was Stayla's best friend, but as far as onscreen relationships go, Jada was more connected to Kate than Kayla.

This is how I feel about it.  Watching the scene, I felt rather than blame Jada (not a good look to ream out a woman for making a choice regarding bodily autonomy) it’s easier to pin all the blame on Nicole, because Eric feels he can’t attack Jada (or attack Jada with the same venom he attacks Nicole).
Interesting that two separate plot lines dealt with free will (Stefan agreeing to get his real memories back so he can discover if he truly loves Chloe of his own free will, and Jada’s choice aka free will in deciding to get an abortion).

I just wish they'd acknowledge that while obviously Jada made her own decision, Nicole acting like she wasn't hoping to talk Jada into an abortion is bullshit lol.

I have been fast forwarding most of this stuff with Kate and Kayla 'dying.' I put in it quotes because I do not for one minute believe they will stay dead. So like I don't really feel like watching people grieve plus it's all pointless in my mind anyway so there's just no reason for me to watch.

I tuned in for Monday's episode only because Orpheus was in it. Great lines as always. Everything else reminded me why I never make time for it now that it's on Peacock.

Something struck me during Kayla and Roman's "final" scenes...Kim. I guess they'll come up with some flimsy excuse for why she won't make her sister's funeral. This dying storyline is silly, and not having the proper cast for the funeral scene is all the more reason to leave it on the cutting room floor.

And on the note of Salem losing it's only doctor, during the ep I tossed out maybe Ron should make a cameo as the ladies' doctor. Would be fitting that he played a role in his ludacris thing. My oldest asked, "Do you think he could be any good at acting?" "Not if it's anything like his writing," I replied.

I like this interpretation. Also, because of her past, Nicole is such an easy target for misdirected anger. She even called herself a "sinner" in that conversation. I hope this is something the show explores more.

I thought about this, too. None of Kate's six children are currently on the permanent cast. Kate also has limited interaction with Allie and Gabi, Kate's great-granddaughter's mother. I think a funeral for Kate would highlight how irrelevant she's become the past few years. I think this is especially highlighted since Victor won't have any scenes reacting to Kate's death who is arguably the next most connected person to Kate in terms of the character's history.

I don't think it's as bad for Kayla. There are a lot of Johnsons onscreen; unfortunately, the Johnsons aren't really portrayed as a family. Also, Sonny and Alex already have had some lackluster responses, and there's no reason for Gwen to care. I wonder how the show will handle Jack's discovery of Kayla's death, assuming he gets a focused reaction. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Roman's response was lackluster. Eric is more concerned about his mom. I doubt Allie would get a response. I don't even remember Johnny's response. I think that's all the Bradys.

So the Salem coroner and the CDC just lets Roman cremate Kate so quickly? Wouldn’t her body be held for a few days so folks from the CDC could do some sort of autopsy and investigation?

I didn’t see the Steve and Jada closeness. He was friends with her dad but it seems like both didn’t really know each other.

Why is Paulina around? Except for being Abe’s wife?

Nice of Chad to bring a card from the kids. Is he kinda using the kids to make headway with Steph?

Alex, you do need to come clean about turning off the phone. She will figure it out. Plenty of time to get laid.

So Rex will visit Philip at the sanitarium?

Kim in particular crossed my mind too. Her sister is dying, her bio-brother and ersatz-brother are both in the process of being widowed, and her other brother is already “dead.” I realize the show can’t force Patsy Pease to appear if she doesn’t want to, but writing around Kim’s absence is one more way the story is going to be weaker than it would be in a perfect world.

Unless Kim finally decided to live up to her Best and Brightest monicker and realizes, like the viewers do, that death is so much  a temporary inconvenience in Salem that it no longer raises the stakes at all. Maybe she left a voicemail like “Hi Kay-honey, sorry to hear you’re dead for a while. Give me a call when you get back. I want to hear all about it, and if you give me a date I’ll send you a Goldbelly from that restaurant in Pasadena you like so much?”

It's none of Sonny's business to tell Chad about Alex turning off Stephanie's phone.

I hope Paulina and Chanel find out about Sloan's involvement in Rachel's kidnapping.

Can you file a wrongful death suit when the court isn't in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred?

Can't Julie just go to the hospital gift shop and buy a new rosary?

I agree that it was none of Sonny’s business to tell Chad that Alex turned odd Stephanie’s phone. Up to Alex to tell Steph and she can tell Chad that Alex turned off her phone.

Don’t know if the hospital gift shop sells rosaries. Maybe. Otherwise Amazon or some Catholic or Christian gift store.

Yeah, Allie, sure Chanel is there for you. Both of you seem distant.

Don’t know if Sloan can sue for wrongful death in a different jurisdiction.

Leo, you should just basically shut up and drive the padded suit a few hours out of Salem and dump it.
