  1. I will speak for myself as someone who started watching GH b/c of MSt. Compared to Y&R GH is much more entertaining. Not saying better written but the tone is much more lighthearted so the campy doesn't grate like it does on Y&R which has a more serious tone in general.

I haven't liked the character of Nina all that well but she is improving and settling in so even though I started watching b/c of MSt I have kept watching b/c I am entertained by the show in general not for one person.

While I never cared for BM character on Y&R I do think BM is a decent actor and having watched Y&R when both BM and SBu were on at the same time I don't find BM appears much younger than SBu even though in years he might be.  Also though BM played a "lovable screwup" on Y&R he has been on several nighttime shows as a villian and can play dark very well. I personally actually prefer him dark to being goofie.

My only disappointment is I don't care for Sam or Patrick, so I'm sad he will be stuck in a story with them.

I watched BM on AMC and he was REALLY DARK, so I can see him as Jason!  On Y & R he was a bit goofy at times, but I blame the writing, not the actor.  SB - let's just say I have never been a fan!

  2. like KMc said, she has other projects going at the moment, and Ali was available.  Why not allow Ali to learn from the best!

Ali will be just one of many behind the scenes crew members!  multiple directors working with different storylines.

    List of General Hospital crew
Producers: Frank Valentini (executive producer), Mercer Barrows, Michelle Henry, Mary-Kelly Weir
Directing team: Scott McKinsey, Matthew Diamond, Craig McManus, William Ludel, Phideaux Xavier, Penny Pengra, Larry Carpenter, Christine Magarian, Ronald C. Cates, Peter Fillmore, Dave MacLeod
    Head writer: Ron Carlivati
    Associate head writer: Elizabeth Korte
Breakdown writers: Chris Van Etten, Anna Theresa Cascio, Daniel James O'Connor, Katherine Schock
Script writers: Elizabeth Page, Scott Sickles, Kate Hall, Suzanne Flynn, Elizabeth Korte
    Casting director: Mark Teschner

From what I have read on twitter, Ali will be working a lot with Michelle Stafford's  "Nina" storyline" hence Michelle's post on twitter last night

  3. I think they are looking for someone "outside" of the show, someone with a fresh look and feel for the show.

KMc has OTHER obligations, hell I don't even want her character back on my screen, why would I want her to "direct".

Ali will be great!  she has been in the business and working non stop in the business since 1993.  She is not just an actor, she is writer, she got her business degree from UCLA while still working on DOOL, she is a mother and a wife of a cop. She will not be "directing" EVERY show! and she will not be on screen!

Alison Sweeney's journey on Days of our Lives may be coming to an end, but the actress is about to begin a new journey... with General Hospital.
Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) shocked fans earlier this year by announcing her exit from Days of our Lives, but the actress has another surprise: she's headed to another soap opera.

Sweeney is joining ABC's General Hospital -- but she will not be appearing on-screen. Sweeney has been tapped for a behind-the-camera role as director.

"Super psyched," Sweeney shared on Twitter. "Working on the script right now!"

Sweeney had previously shadowed GH executive producer Frank Valentini and his team, and when the opportunity arose to bring the actress into the fold, Valentini reached out.

"She's sort of paid her dues and spent some time learning the show," Valentini told Soap Opera Digest. "I asked her if she was available and she said yes."

A fixture on NBC's Days of our Lives since her first appearance in January 1993, Sweeney revealed in January 2014 that she had made the decision to leave the show. The reason, according to Sweeney, is that she wanted to spend more time with her family.

For the past seven years, Sweeney has been pulling double duty on DAYS and as host of the NBC reality weight loss show The Biggest Loser.

The Hallmark Channel has also announced the Sweeney will serve as executive producer and star in the network's original movie Radio Hype, a film about a radio host who moves to Chicago for work and love -- and then her life takes a big turn.

In addition to her television work, Sweeney is also an author. Her latest book, her fourth overall and second work of fiction, is called Scared Scriptless, a story about a script supervisor on a popular television show. Scared Scriptless is available now from booksellers.

Sweeney taped her final Days of our Lives scenes in May, but due to Days of our Lives' production schedule, she is expected to continue airing well into the fall.

ABC has not yet commented officially on Sweeney's stint as director.

They are good friends who have known each other since 1994 when Michelle started on Y & R and meet Ali through their mutual friend Lauralee Bell.

  5. Hmmm...by the er, lack of multiple posts, I take it

    Robin

    wasn't on today?

Robin will not be back until August

, and then it is only for a few episodes, or so the gossip is

  6. WOW!  Nina Clay....................I don't even know where to begin.  I'll start by asking is the role of Nina Clay a contract role?  If so, how in the world does MS play this part of a raving lunatic and be integrated as a regular with the rest of Port Charles?  They would have to tone her down a bit, wouldn't they?  Nina is just overly bizarre and I thought it was actually too much.  The horrid facial expressions, the mannerisms, the things that she said.  I might've bought her a bit until she started babbling about "getting even" with Kiki for being born.  Really?  PSYCHO!  It's not lost on me that all of the Westbourne women are crazy bitches.  Nina shares the cray cray with Mama Mad, Auntie O, and cousin Britch.  If the cray cray isn't gender specific then Nathan should be afraid, very afraid.

Michelle has signed a 2 year contract with GH

she is not really crazy, she wants her life back, the life that was first screwed up 20 years ago with Silas committing adultery with Ava, she wants her baby, she wants the 20 years she missed.

  7. Michelle Stafford is kicking butt and taking names!!!  she is a breath of fresh air that the show and the Silas/Sam pairing needed!  GH is very lucky to get the best in the business on their show!!!

whoever is writing Nina's dialogue needs a big hand!  You never know what is going to come out of her mouth next!

  8. Oh, so the party's moved over into this thread?

Yeah, a couple of days ago I had drafted a comment invoking Allen and Roman Polanski as a comparison but I forgot to save it so it's lost in the ether.

Anyways...there are any number of Hollywood types who've behaved very badly and have come back from it. Charlie Sheen anyone? However, those people generally already had major track records in Hollywood as being money makers and/or darlings of the arts critics.

MM, best as I can tell, mostly has a noisy and fiercely loyal fan base. A fan base which, like cats, seems to be able to puff up to look bigger and scarier than it perhaps actually is.

I don't think he's been blacklisted (except maybe in soaps) and I'm sure he'll get work again eventually. However, IMO he hasn't acquired enough juice to make it okay for him to be either a public or backstage jerk--or worse--with impunity. Maybe that was one of the lessons he needed to learn.

if the rumors are true, he was not invited to do the Veronica Mars movie because he was reprimanded for groping KB's boobs!  I just think he has a problem and needs some mental health help
