Can we just skip all this Frozen stuff and get straight to Maleficent? Can you tell I'm a fan?
Like many of you, I worry that A & E will mess up a potentially great story and waste a good actress. Trying to remain positive and crossing my fingers.

Do you honestly think Hook could have stopped Cora from killing those poor people even if he was standing right there next to her? I don't. I believe he would have died along with the villagers if he had tried to do or say something in opposition.
They've never answered the question of what Hook's feelings were about Cora's massacre of the village, and they've never explicitly stated whether Hook posing as a blacksmith and hiding in the pile of bodies was his own idea or something Cora told him to do. At this point, I don't expect answers to these questions because too much time has passed and A & E with they're ADHD have moved on to other things. From their point of view,and it isn't that important to the storyline.
It just dawned on me that any continuation of this discussion should probably take place in the Hook character discussion forum, since we are no longer discussing "Good Form".

Look at it this way- you probably dodged a bullet. If the show was greenlighted and then dropped , the scripts coming in must have been bad.

I see your point, but at the same time I've read both here, at TWoP, and on other forums where people have been critical of the fact that the writers have had these two people who despised each other to the point that they spent centuries trying to figure out how to kill each other - at least Hook did that - suddenly be able to put their differences aside and coexist with each other as if everything was fine and dandy between them. Now they're finally addressing the animosity these two have towards each other, and people are accusing the writers of recycling old story lines.This spoiler about Hook and Rumple being at odds with each other make sense, what happened between them was just too much. But at the same time it feels repetitive. It's like A&E couldn't find something new to do with both of them and went "oh, Hook and Rumple hated each other, lets do that again". But I'm a bit drunk right now, so I don't know.
Clearly the Rumple/Hook feud wasn't addressed during Season 3 because the characters spent most of the season apart from one another, and when there was an opportunity for them to interact they were both busy trying to protect people they cared about from the Big Bad Villains Peter Pan and Zelena. They didn't really even have time to be thinking about how much they still hated each other. Apparently, they will be spending more time in close proximity to one another this season, so the writers have decided that this is as good a time as any to revisit their old feud. I would never expect Hook and Rumple to be buddies. The big question here is whether or not the writers manage to write their relationship in an interesting and compelling way, which, yes, is a reason in and of itself to be concerned about what is going to happen.
I'm willing to give it a chance. I think Colin and Bobby play well off of each other, so I think exploring the bad blood between Hook and Rumple could make for a compelling story, not to mention that it will give the actors something more interesting to do than make puppy eyes at some female. As others have mentioned, I'm very glad we'll get to see these characters involved in a storyline that is not focused on their romantic relationships. That is, until a small but vocal group of Pirate Gold shippers start harassing A & E to seize the opportunity to explore a gay relationship between these two characters who have so much tension between them they clearly want each other.

I agree that Hook and Rumpel should never be best buds--a simmering disdain for the other and being barely polite to the other is realistically the most one could hope for with them--but what seems like backtracking to me is to have Rumpel and Hook feuding again. Ie, it's not the feelings that bother me, it's them acting on it. I would think both men, at this point, have much better things to do than that--like go on one's honeymoon (Rumpel) or on a date with one's new paramour (Hook)/NOT screw up his new relationship because of old grudges.
I would totally agree with you if they were once again feuding over what happened with Milah, or if it were simply over Rumple being married again, which is why I think they've got to be at odds with each other over something else. The bad blood between them in the past makes it easier and more believable for them to be feuding over another, unrelated cause. What that could be, I have no idea. The more spoilers I read and see coming in from the filming of this episode the more confused I feel.

Now I'm thinking that the pinky ring may contain the magic that is animating his long-dead hand. Either that, or the reason for the costume change is that he is now an emo-vampire on "The Vampire Diaries" and he got Regina to make him a Daywalker ring.

Oh, no. There we go with "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" theory again. I wonder if Hook's hand will have a magical mind of its own like the broom. Mickey used something like a machete on the broom and it backfired. This is getting to be a little too Disney.Apparently Rumple magics up a broom in the scene with Hook. Odd detail.
I think this ep is gonna be hella angsty painful.
I will die laughing if Hook's hand reaches out and grabs Emma's boob while they're having their date and she throws a drink in his face. And not in a good way.

I'm going to reserve judgement on both the Rumple/Hook scene and whether or not the characters are acting out of character until I see the full episode. Everything is being taken out of context, we don't really know what is going to happen.
I'm also going to reserve judgement of Hook's new outfit until I see it on film. All we've seen so far is low quality photos, and those pants may appear differently on film. For all we know, we're seeing Hook in some kind of "disguise," like he's going undercover. This actually makes me wonder if Hook and Rumple might be collaborating to protect Storybrooke from the new big bad, presumably the Snow Queen. I'm also starting to wonder if the Knave/Will Scarlett might be working as the Snow Queen's minion. I'm not sure the purpose of the new outfit is for a date with Emma. I don't see Hook hanging out with Rumple and punching out the Knave as he's on his way to a date - both events would probably be mood killers.
I do have to add that in my opinion if there's a character who is increasingly bland on this show, it's Rumple. He was awesome in Seasons 1 and 2, but I found him as insufferable and annoying as Jack Shepherd in Season 3. I love Bobby, but I agree with those who suspect he wants out. He doesn't seem nearly as committed to this role as he once did.

Eh, from the actual wording of the story I get the impression that the story won't really be "Henry gets a girlfriend," more like "Henry has his first crush on a girl". I think 12 is a very likely age for that to happen, for girls it can be even younger, 10 or even 9.I'm trying to get interested in the new season, I really do. But the show makes it so difficult. A love intetest for Henry, really? I guess they have forgoten he is supposed to be 12 at most. And really, I have more than enough with one kid in the show with a speaking role, I don't need more.
I also doubt Henry's crush will be a major storyline, just a sub-plot of a B or even C plot. At least, I hope so.

OK ... So now there are three inappropriately dressed people in Storybrooke. Maybe Regina should start walking around in her Evil Queen dresses so she can join their club.Actually, I think that's Elizabeth Mitchell. The white dress would definitely lend credence to our theory that she's the Ice Queen.
Another great photo of Colin, but those pants are starting to bug me. Seriously, they're an Emmy-nominated costume dept. Can't they cut the pants more properly so they don't get bunched up in all the wrong places? So glad that he's at least sticking with the long vest since that's the case. Really, between that and the weird toes on his boots, Hook's wardrobe change can't come soon enough.
Regarding Colin in those pants, they're making the dirty part of my mind recall when Tamara and Greg referred to him as "the Package."

This picture made me come up with a theory that the reason we are seeing Hook and Elsa in so many scenes together is because the characters are bonding - in a totally non-romantic way- over being the two most inappropriately dressed people in Storybrooke. "Why are you dressed like that?" "Why are YOU dressed like THAT?" Maybe eventually they encourage each other to adopt modern "Land Without Magic" attire.Here's a pic of the Hook/Elsa scene and Hook's in his usual outfit so I don't think we'll be seeing it today. Bummer. Maybe tomorrow?

I don't know how much Hook knows about sports or anything, but he could learn fast. In fact, I see a possible job along these lines -- a sports bar. Storybrooke needs more than the White Rabbit, and New England has lots of sports teams with intense fans. Plus, he knows his way around bars. The hours can be a little hard on relationships, though.
This idea is giving me Sam Malone flashbacks. The playboy (or ex-playboy) with a drinking problem with the adventurous career in his past (professional baseball player/pirate) who retires and winds up running a bar in New England. Hah! Would that make Emma Diane Chambers?

Well what she's doing is basically lying about her product. She calls it low fat FroYo, but it's not. The cholesterol level in Storybrooke is off the charts.
Oh, come on. There was already an episode of "Seinfeld" about that. I'd hope for a little more originality.

I don't get the Frozen mania, either. It was entertaining enough, but nothing special in the Disney pantheon, IMO, beyond the sister thing. Even the songs weren't that catchy to me. (The Little Mermaid still wears the song crown for me.)
Love "The Little Mermaid," and I'd put "Part of Your World" against "Let it Go" any day, although I do kind of think one thing that gives "Frozen" an advantage is that, IMO at least, Idina Menzel blows Jodi Benson out of the water. Then again, I have a friend/fellow musical theater geek who thinks Idina is much too affected/tries way too hard to sound like Streisand when she sings, so as with anything, YMMV. One point in "Little Mermaid"'s favor: Sebastian the Crab is a much better character than Olaf the Snowman. Yes, I have kids and I know all these characters.

Except that Colin doesn't typically wear a black leather motorcycle jacket IRL based on pics that I've seen. He seems to tend towards plaid flannel button-down shirts and blue jeans off-set, sometimes plain solid color t-shirts in summer. And, it's really disturbing to me, who is turning forty next month, that I know this.Apparently the shirt Hook was wearing under his new leather jacket is blue. That should make his eyes pop!
(I'll laugh if it's just Colin in his own clothes on set.)

First, I will start by saying that I don't really see Hook playing "Baby Whisperer." It would be just too cutesie and cheesy, and in my opinion not consistent with his character. Of course, nothing these writers do would shock me at this point.Nothing would surprise me at this point, but I have to say: between giving a 14-year old over to a bunch of psychopaths for rejecting his proffer of love and teaching Henry life-lessons like "cheating is great as long as you don't get caught," I don't see Hook as being some sort of natural father figure. Making him a "baby whisperer" would cause ME to spit up. Or at least spit at something.
On a slightly related note: how does Cap'n Cobra play out if Henry gets closer to Rumpel, as Henry spoilers have been hinting for the last couple of weeks? That's probably going to be the foundation of Henry as Nealfire 2.0 in the lives of those two characters, because there's no way Gold is going to be keen on Henry being parented by Hook.
However, with regard to any opinion that Gold might have regarding Henry's parenting, I have two words: SCREW HIM. He has shown no desire to connect with Henry as his grandfather since he learned of their blood relationship. He made an offhand, interrupted attempt at killing the boy at one point so he couldn't be his "undoing." Oh, and let's not forgot, he KILLED HENRY'S GRANDMOTHER. If Henry in Season Four demonstrates a desire to have a relationship with Gold as a way of feeling connected with his paternal line, Gold/Rumple (does anyone on the show actually call him my Gold anymore?) would be extremely fortunate, but it should have no bearing on any actual or potential relationship Henry might have with Hook. I don't see where Gold gets to have any say in Henry's upbringing. Emma is his mother, Regina is his adoptive mother. They call the shots.

This IS Disney we're talking about. I think the ego issue goes without saying.Or you have a corporate ego roughly the size of Jupiter.
Regarding "Frozen", I will say I totally think it is too soon to be incorporating the characters into a show like "Once". It screams to me that they are trying to appeal to the seven to eleven year old demographic. My 11 yo daughter, who has been watching Once with me for the past year and is up to date on all episodes, is much more excited to see Elsa and Anna on Once than I am.
That being said, I do think that for this current generation of children "Frozen" will be a classic. My daughter and her 6 yo cousin can't get together without belting out "Let it Go" about three times an hour. Of course, they both have musical theater drama queens, myself and my sister, for mothers, so they might be unusual.

OK - the sappy side of me is now picturing the conversation and subsequent kiss with the "Captain Swan" musical theme playing in the background. "Sigh". BTW - does anyone know if that piece of music had an official title? You all know what I'm talking about, right?

I'm not sure that's a legit cover. They make custom ones. I've also seen this one:
It looks like one is for the DVD set and the other is for the Blu-Ray set. They often have somewhat different cover art. So most likely they're both legit.

My thoughts while looking at the DVD covers: they actually got someone to say that "Season Three is the most exciting to date?" Hahaha! I guess they're not going to put "This show sucks! Why the hell are we watching it?"

In Outlander, Claire states that she's 5' 6" and weighs nine stone.
Right, and for those of you Americans who have no idea what nine stone is, it's 126 lbs. One stone equals 14 standard measurement lbs. So at 5'6" and 126 lbs., Claire is certainly not what most today would consider "plump", and she would be nowhere near a U.S. size 12, at least not today. She would probably be a size 4 or 6.

You mean masochistic, but yes, I totally agree. It boggles my mind that the Rumple/Belle relationship has so many fans. I guess it's tranference of affection for the actors onto the characters and the relationship between the two. That's the only way I can explain it.
The whole concept of Milah returning from the dead is both giving me a headache and making me think of "Days of Our Lives," neither of which are good things. This show really needs to be done with love triangle because it does not do them well. I for one am hoping Regina/Robin/Marion is mercifully brief.
